1My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
1Ompi' -ku hawe'ea! Pue' -ta, Pue' Yesus Kristus, uma mowo kabaraka' -na. Jadi', ane mepangala' -ta-damo hi Pue' -e, neo' -ta mpelence tauna.
2For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;
2Rapa' -na rata hi porumpua-ta hadua tauna to mohincii bulawa pai' moheai to ncola, pai' rata wo'o-hawo hadua tokabu to moheai ronto-na.
3And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:
3Ane meliu pebila' -ta hi tauna to lompe' pohea-na toe, pai' ta'uli' -ki: "Mai-ta mohura hi pohuraa to lompe' tohe'i," hiaa' hi tauna to kabu ta'uli': "Mokore hi retu-moko mai," ba ta'uli' -ki: "Mohura retu-moko hi ila',"
4Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
4batua-na, tapoposisala hingka doo-ta, pai' tapelence tauna hante patuju to dada'a.
5Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
5Ompi' -ku to kupe'ahi'! Pe'epei lompe' -dile: tauna to mpe'ahii' katuwu' -ra, nau' uma-ra mo'ua' hi dunia' toi, Alata'ala mpelihi-ra bona jadi' mo'ua' hi pepangala' -ra. Hira' toe-mi mpai' to mporata rasi' hi rala Kamagaua' -na, hewa to najanci-raka tauna to mpoka'ahi' -i.
6But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
6Hiaa' ane hewa toe we'i pololita-ta hi torata-e, hewa taruge' lau-ramo doo-ta to kabu! Hiaa' hema to biasa-na mpobalinai' -koi pai' mpakilu-koi hi totu'a ngata? Bate tauna topo'ua' -hana!
7Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
7Topo'ua' toe-ramo to mporuge' hanga' to tabila', to tatarima ngkai Alata'ala.
8If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
8Po'ingku-ta to lompe' ompi', ane tatuku' hawa' Magau' -ta to tabasa hi rala Buku Tomoroli' to mpo'uli': "Kana tapoka'ahi' doo-ta hewa kampoka'ahi' -ta woto-ta moto."
9But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
9Aga ane tapoposisala-di tauna ntuku' tuwu' -ra ba lence-ra, mojeko' -ta ompi'. Monoa' -mi kamojeko' -ta, apa' Atura Pue' -mi to tatiboki toe-e.
10For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
10Apa' nau' tahuduwukui mpotuku' hawe'ea parenta to hi rala Atura Pue', ane tatiboki nau' hanyala-wadi, bate masala' -ta-hana. Ma'ala-mi ta'uli', hewa to tatiboki hawe'ea lau-mi.
11For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
11Apa' ria hawa' Pue' to mpo'uli': "Neo' mobualo'." Pai' ria wo'o hawa' -na to mpo'uli': "Neo' mepatehi." Jadi', nau' uma-ta mobualo', aga ane mepatehi-ta, mpotiboki Atura Pue' oa' -tamo.
12So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
12Toe pai' kana tapelompehi pololita-ta pai' po'ingku-ta. Apa' kita' toi-mi to rapohurai kara-kara-ta ntuku' Atura Pue' to mpobahaka manusia' ngkai jeko'.
13For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
13Apa' tauna to uma ria ahi' -na hi doo-na, Pue' mpai' mpohuku' -i hante uma ria ahi' -na. Aga hi tauna to ma'ahi' hi doo-na, Pue' wo'o mpai' mpopohiloi-i ahi' -na hi eo pehukua'.
14What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
14Ompi' -ku hawe'ea! Napa-mi-hawo kalaua-na ane ta'uli' mepangala' -ta hi Pue', pai' po'ingku-ta uma mpotuku' konoa-na. Ha tebahaka-ta mpai' ngkai huku' jeko' -ta ane hewa toe-wadi pepangala' -tae? Uma-e'!
15If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
15Rapa' -na ria hadua ompi' -ta to mparaluu pohea, pai' uma wo'o hono' pongkoni' -na butu eo-na.
16And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
16Napa-mi-hawo kalaua-na ane ta'uli' -ki hewa toi: "Pelompehi momako'! Kusarumaka moheai lompe' -ko pai' ngkoni' mpebohui-moko!" Hiaa' ane uma-i tawai' napa to naparaluu, napa-mi-hawo kalaua-nae?
17Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
17Wae wo'o hante pepangala' -ta: ane ta'uli' mepangala' -ta hi Pue', pai' po'ingku-ta uma mpotuku' konoa-na, batua-na mepangala' mara-ta-wadi. Pepangala' to hewa toe, hewa pae to lopa'-- uma ria ihi-na.
18Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
19Ha tapangala' kahadudua-na-wadi Alata'ala-e? Makono moto tetu. Aga ane tetu-wadi, uma hono'! Bangku' seta-hawoe', rapangala' wo'o-rawo kahadudua-na-wadi Alata'ala. Toe pai' moridi' -ra nakeni eka' -ra.
20But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
20Wojo lia-ta ompi' ane ta'uli' hono' -mi mepangala' mara-wadi hi Alata'ala hante uma ria po'ingku-ta to lompe'. Uma ria tuju-na pepangala' to hewa tetu.
21Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
21Kiwoi tutura-na Abraham: Alata'ala mpotarima-i napomonoa' -i hi poncilo-na sabana po'ingku-na, apa' Abraham mpotonu Ishak ana' -na hi Alata'ala hi lolo watu pontunua pepuea'.
22Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
22Hi tutura tohe'e, monoto-mi tahilo: pepangala' -na Abraham incana hi po'ingku-na. Jadi', ma'ala-mi ta'uli' po'ingku-na toe mpakaroli' pepangala' -na.
23And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
23Jadi', madupa' -mi lolita Buku Tomoroli' to mpo'uli': "Abraham mepangala' hi Alata'ala, pai' ngkai pepangala' -na toe, Alata'ala mpo'uli' kamonoa' -na hi poncilo-na." Toe pai' rahanga' -i bale-na Alata'ala.
24Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
24Monoto-mi tahilo kanapomonoa' -ra Alata'ala tauna to lompe' po'ingku-ra, uma wule' mepangala' mara-wadi.
25Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
25Wae wo'o tutura-na Rahab, tobine to uma tumotoa gau' -na owi. Ba hangkuja dua tantara to Yahudi rahubui hilou mopadaso' hi ngata bali', pai' Rahab toe-imi to mpopehani-ra hi tomi-na pai' natulungi-ra malai ntara ohea ntani' -na. Ngkai po'ingku-na to lompe' toe-mi pai' alaa-na rapohewa tauna to monoa' -i.
26For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
26Jadi', hewa woto to uma inohaa', ta'uli' mate-imi. Wae wo'o pepangala' -ta, ane uma incana hi po'ingku-ta, hibali mate, uma ria kalaua-na.
