¹And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.

¹Ða-vít cất cho mình những cung điện tại thành Ða-vít, và sắm sửa một nơi cho hòm của Ðức Chúa Trời, cùng dựng nhà trại cho hòm ấy.

²Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.

²Khi ấy Ða-vít bèn nói rằng: Ngoại trừ người Lê-vi, chẳng ai xứng đáng khiêng hòm của Ðức Chúa Trời, và hầu việc Ngài luôn luôn.

³And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD unto his place, which he had prepared for it.

³Ða-vít bèn nhóm cả Y-sơ-ra-ên tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, đặng thỉnh hòm của Ðức Chúa Trời về nơi người đã sắm sửa cho hòm.

⁴And David assembled the children of Aaron, and the Levites:

⁴Ða-vít cũng hội lại các con cháu A-rôn và người Lê-vi:

⁵Of the sons of Kohath; Uriel the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twenty:

⁵về dòng Kê-hát có U-ri-ên, là trưởng tộc, cùng các anh em người, được hai trăm hai mươi người;

⁶Of the sons of Merari; Asaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty:

⁶về dòng Mê-ra-ri có A-sa-gia, là trưởng tộc, cùng các anh em người, được hai trăm hai mươi người;

⁷Of the sons of Gershom; Joel the chief and his brethren an hundred and thirty:

⁷về dòng Ghẹt-sôn có Giô-ên, là trưởng tộc, cùng các anh em người, được một trăm ba mươi người;

⁸Of the sons of Elizaphan; Shemaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred:

⁸về dòng Ê-li-sa-phan có Sê-ma-gia, là trưởng tộc, cùng các anh em người, được hai trăm người;

⁹Of the sons of Hebron; Eliel the chief, and his brethren fourscore:

⁹về dòng Hếp-rôn có Ê-li-ên, là trưởng tộc, cùng các anh em người, được tám mươi người;

¹⁰Of the sons of Uzziel; Amminadab the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twelve.

¹⁰về dòng U-xi-ên có A-mi-na-đáp, là trưởng tộc, cùng các anh em người, được một trăm mười hai người.

¹¹And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,

¹¹Ða-vít gọi thầy tế lễ Xa-đốc, A-bia-tha, và những người Lê-vi, tức U-ri-ên, A-sa-gia, Giô-ên, Sê-ma-gia, Ê-li-ên, và A-mi-na-đáp, mà bảo rằng:

¹²And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.

¹²Các ngươi là tộc trưởng của chi phái Lê-vi; vậy, hãy cùng anh em các ngươi dọn mình cho thánh sạch, rồi khiêng hòm của Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên đến nơi mà ta đã sắm sẵn cho hòm.

¹³For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

¹³Vì tại lần trước các ngươi không theo lệ đã định mà cầu vấn Ðức Giê-hô-va; nên Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời chúng ta đã hành hạ chúng ta.

¹⁴So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel.

¹⁴Vậy, những thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi dọn mình cho thánh sạch đặng thỉnh hòm của Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên.

¹⁵And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD.

¹⁵Các con cháu Lê-vi dùng đòn khiêng hòm của Ðức Chúa Trời trên vai mình, y như Môi-se đã dạy bảo tùy lời của Ðức Giê-hô-va.

¹⁶And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.

¹⁶Ða-vít truyền cho các trưởng tộc người Lê-vi; hãy cắt trong anh em họ những người hát xướng, cầm các thứ nhạc khí, ống quyển, đờn cầm, chập chỏa để cất tiếng vui mừng vang rền lên.

¹⁷So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;

¹⁷Người Lê-vi bèn cắt Hê-man, con trai của Giô-ên, và A-sáp, con trai của Bê-rê-kia thuộc trong dòng họ người; lại về dòng Mê-ra-ri, là anh em họ, thì đặt Ê-than, con trai của Cu-sa-gia;

¹⁸And with them their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, the porters.

¹⁸chung với các ngươi ấy lại lập những anh em dòng thứ, là Xa-cha-ri, Bên, Gia-xi-ên, Sê-mi-ra-mốt, Giê-hi-ên, U-ni, Ê-li-áp, Bê-na-gia, Ma-a-xê-gia, Ô-bết-Ê-đôm, và Giê -i-ên, là người giữ cửa.

¹⁹So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound with cymbals of brass;

¹⁹Những người hát xướng, là Hê-man, A-sáp, và Ê-than, dùng những chập chỏa đồng, đặng vang dầy lên;

²⁰And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries on Alamoth;

²⁰Xa-cha-ri, A-xi-ên, Sê-mi-ra-mốt, Giê-hi-ên, U-ni, Ê-li-áp, Ma-a-xê-gia, và Bê-na-gia, dùng ống quyển thổi theo điệu A-la-mốt;

²¹And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps on the Sheminith to excel.

²¹Còn Ma-ti-thia, Ê-li-phê-lê, Mích-nê-gia, Ô-bết-Ô-đôm, Giê -i-ên, và A-xa-xia, đều dùng đờn cầm đánh theo giọng Sê-mi-nít, đặng dẫn tiếng hát.

²²And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was for song: he instructed about the song, because he was skillful.

²²Kê-na-nia, trưởng tộc người Lê-vi, cai việc ca xướng, và dạy hát, vì người giỏi về nghề ấy.

²³And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.

²³còn Bê-rê-kia và Eân-ca-na giữ cửa trước hòm giao ước.

²⁴And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obededom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

²⁴Sê-ba-nia, Giô-sa-phát, Nê-tha-nê-ên, A-ma-xai, Xa-cha-ri, Bê-na-gia, và Ê-li-ê-se, tức là những thầy tế lễ, đều thổi kèn trước hòm của Ðức Chúa Trời; Ô-bết-Ê-đôm và Giê-hi-gia giữ cửa trước hòm giao ước.

²⁵So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obededom with joy.

²⁵Vậy, Ða-vít, các trưởng lão của Y-sơ-ra-ên, và các quan tướng ngàn quân, đều đi thỉnh hòm giao ước của Ðức Giê-hô-va lên từ nhà của Ô-bết-Ê-đôm cách vui mừng.

²⁶And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.

²⁶Khi Ðức Chúa Trời phù trợ người Lê-vi khiêng hòm giao ước của Ðức Giê-hô-va, thì người ta tế lễ bảy con bò đực và bảy con chiên đực.

²⁷And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an ephod of linen.

²⁷Ða-vít và các người Lê-vi khiêng hòm, kẻ ca hát, và Kê-na-nia, làm đầu những kẻ hát, đều mặc áo vải gai mịn; Ða-vít cũng mặc trên mình một cái ê-phót bằng vải gai.

²⁸Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

²⁸Như vậy cả Y-sơ-ra-ên đều thỉnh hòm giao ước của Ðức Giê-hô-va lên, có tiếng vui mừng, tiếng còi, tiếng kèn, chập chỏa, và vang dầy giọng đờn cầm đờn sắt.

²⁹And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.

²⁹Khi hòm giao ước của Ðức Giê-hô-va đến thành Ða-vít, thì Mi-canh, con gái của Sau-lơ, ngó ngang qua cửa sổ, thấy vua Ða-vít nhảy nhót vui chơi, thì trong lòng khinh bỉ người.
