¹Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

¹Vậy, vì Ðấng Christ đã chịu khổ trong xác thịt, thì anh em cũng phải lấy sự đó làm giáp trụ, vì người nào đã chịu khổ trong xác thịt, thì đã dứt khỏi tội lỗi,

²That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

²hầu cho còn sống trong xác thịt bao lâu thì chớ lại theo những sự người ta ưa thích, một phải theo ý muốn Ðức Chúa Trời.

³For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

³Ngày trước cũng đã đủ làm theo ý muốn người ngoại đạo rồi, mà ăn ở theo tà tịch, tư dục, say rượu, ăn uống quá độ, chơi bời, và thờ hình tượng đáng gớm ghiếc.

⁴Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

⁴Họ thấy anh em chẳng cùng họ theo sự dâm dật bậy bạ ấy, thì họ lấy làm lạ và gièm chê.

⁵Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

⁵Nhưng họ sẽ khai trình với Ðấng đã sẵn sàng xét đoán kẻ sống và kẻ chết.

⁶For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

⁶Vì ấy bởi điều đó mà Tin Lành cũng đã giảng ra cho kẻ chết, hầu cho sau khi chịu xét đoán theo loài người về phần xác, thì họ được sống theo Ðức Chúa Trời về phần hồn.

⁷But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

⁷Sự cuối cùng của muôn vật đã gần; vậy hãy khôn ngoan tỉnh thức mà cầu nguyện.

⁸And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

⁸Nhứt là trong vòng anh em phải có lòng yêu thương sốt sắng; vì sự yêu thương che đậy vô số tội lỗi.

⁹Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

⁹Người nầy người khác phải tiếp đãi nhau, chớ có cằn rằn.

¹⁰As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

¹⁰Mỗi người trong anh em hãy lấy ơn mình đã được mà giúp lẫn nhau, khác nào người quản lý trung tín giữ các thứ ơn của Ðức Chúa Trời.

¹¹If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

¹¹Ví bằng có người giảng luận, thì hãy giảng như rao lời sấm truyền của Ðức Chúa Trời; nếu có kẻ làm chức gì, thì hãy làm như nhờ sức Ðức Chúa Trời ban, hầu cho Ðức Chúa Trời được sáng danh trong mọi sự bởi Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ; là Ðấng được sự vinh hiển quyền phép đời đời vô cùng. A-men.

¹²Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

¹²Hỡi kẻ rất yêu dấu, khi anh em bị trong lò lửa thử thách, chớ lấy làm lạ như mình gặp một việc khác thường.

¹³But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

¹³Nhưng anh em có phần trong sự thương khó của Ðấng Christ bao nhiêu, thì hãy vui mừng bấy nhiêu, hầu cho đến ngày vinh hiển của Ngài hiện ra, thì anh em cũng được vui mừng nhảy nhót.

¹⁴If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

¹⁴Ví bằng anh em vì cớ danh Ðấng Christ chịu sỉ nhục, thì anh em có phước; vì sự vinh hiển và Thánh Linh của Ðức Chúa Trời đậu trên anh em.

¹⁵But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.

¹⁵Trong anh em chớ có ai chịu khổ như kẻ giết người, như kẻ trộm cướp, như kẻ hung ác, như kẻ thày lay việc người khác.

¹⁶Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

¹⁶Nhưng nếu có ai vì làm tín đồ Ðấng Christ mà chịu khổ, thì đừng hổ thẹn; thà hãy vì danh ấy ngợi khen Ðức Chúa Trời là hơn.

¹⁷For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

¹⁷Vì thời kỳ đã đến, là khi sự phán xét sẽ khởi từ nhà Ðức Chúa Trời; vả, nếu khởi từ chúng ta, thì sự cuối cùng của những kẻ chẳng vâng theo Tin Lành Ðức Chúa Trời sẽ ra thế nào?

¹⁸And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

¹⁸Lại nếu người công bình còn khó được rỗi, thì những kẻ nghịch đạo và có tội sẽ trở nên thế nào?

¹⁹Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

¹⁹Vậy những kẻ chịu khổ theo ý muốn Ðức Chúa Trời, hãy cứ làm lành mà phó linh hồn mình cho Ðấng Tạo hóa thành tín.
