¹If one be found slain in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field, and it be not known who hath slain him:

¹Khi nào trong đất mà Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi ban cho ngươi nhận lấy, người ta gặp một người nam bị giết, nằm sải trên đồng, chẳng biết ai đã giết,

²Then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth, and they shall measure unto the cities which are round about him that is slain:

²thì các trưởng lão và quan án của ngươi phải đi ra, đo bề xa từ người bị giết đến các thành ở chung quanh người.

³And it shall be, that the city which is next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take an heifer, which hath not been wrought with, and which hath not drawn in the yoke;

³Ðoạn, các trưởng lão của thành gần người bị giết hơn hết, phải bắt một con bò cái tơ, chưa làm việc hay mang ách,

⁴And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer's neck there in the valley:

⁴dẫn nó đến một dòng nước hằng chảy, gần đó không ai cày và gieo; rồi, tại nơi ấy, trong khe, vặn cổ con bò cái tơ.

⁵And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried:

⁵Những thầy tế lễ, là con trai Lê-vi, sẽ đến gần; vì Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi đã chọn các người ấy đặng phục sự Ngài, và nhân danh Ðức Giê-hô-va mà chúc phước cho; tùy lời miệng họ làm bằng, phải quyết phán các sự tranh tụng và thương tích.

⁶And all the elders of that city, that are next unto the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley:

⁶Bấy giờ, hết thảy những trưởng lão của thành ở gần người bị giết hơn hết, sẽ rửa tay mình trên con bò cái tơ mới bị vặn cổ trong khe;

⁷And they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.

⁷đoạn, cất tiếng nói rằng: Tay chúng tôi chẳng đổ huyết nầy ra; mắt chúng tôi chẳng thấy gì.

⁸Be merciful, O LORD, unto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood unto thy people of Israel's charge. And the blood shall be forgiven them.

⁸Lạy Ðức Giê-hô-va cầu xin Ngài tha tội cho dân sự Ngài mà Ngài đã chuộc! Xin chớ kể huyết vô tội cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên của Ngài! Rồi tội sát nhân sẽ được tha cho họ.

⁹So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.

⁹Như vậy, ngươi làm điều ngay thẳng tại trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va, và cất huyết vô tội khỏi giữa mình.

¹⁰When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive,

¹⁰Khi nào ngươi ra chiến đấu cùng quân thù nghịch mình, nhờ Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi phó chúng nó vào tay ngươi, và ngươi dẫn tù chúng nó,

¹¹And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife;

¹¹nếu thấy trong những tù giặc một người nữ lịch sự mà mình ái mộ muốn lấy làm vợ,

¹²Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house, and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails;

¹²thì phải dẫn nàng về nhà mình. Nàng sẽ cạo đầu mình, cắt móng tay;

¹³And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.

¹³lột áo tù, và ở trong nhà ngươi khóc cha mẹ mình trong một tháng; kế ấy, ngươi sẽ đến cùng nàng, làm chồng nàng, và nàng sẽ làm vợ ngươi.

¹⁴And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.

¹⁴Nếu ngày sau ngươi không ưa nàng nữa, nàng muốn đi đâu, thì phải cho nàng đi mặc ý, và vì ngươi đã lấy nàng làm vợ, nên chẳng khá bán nàng lấy tiền, hay đãi nàng như nô lệ.

¹⁵If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:

¹⁵Khi một người nam nào có hai vợ, vợ nầy được thương, vợ kia bị ghét, song cả hai đều có sanh con cho ngươi, và con trưởng nam thuộc về vợ bị ghét,

¹⁶Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn:

¹⁶khi ngươi chia sản nghiệp cho các con mình, thì chẳng được phép trao quyền trưởng nam cho con trai của vợ được thương thế cho con trai của vợ bị ghét, bởi nó vốn là trưởng nam.

¹⁷But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.

¹⁷Nhưng ngươi phải nhận con trai của vợ bị ghét làm con đầu lòng, chia một phần bằng hai về mọi vật thuộc về mình; vì nó vốn là sự đầu tiên của sức mạnh ngươi; quyền trưởng nam thuộc về nó vậy.

¹⁸If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:

¹⁸Khi ai có một đứa con khó dạy và bội nghịch, không nghe theo lời cha mẹ, và mặc dầu bị trừng trị, nó vẫn không khứng vâng lời,

¹⁹Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;

¹⁹thì cha mẹ phải bắt nó dẫn đến trước mặt các trưởng lão của thành mình, tại nơi cửa thành.

²⁰And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.

²⁰Ðoạn, cha mẹ sẽ nói cùng các trưởng lão của thành mình rằng: Nầy con chúng tôi khó dạy và bội nghịch, không vâng lời chúng tôi, làm kẻ hoang đàng say sưa.

²¹And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

²¹Bấy giờ, chúng dân thành ấy sẽ ném đá cho nó chết; như vậy ngươi sẽ cất sự ác khỏi giữa mình, và cả Y-sơ-ra-ên sẽ hay điều đó mà bắt sợ.

²²And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:

²²Khi một người nào phạm tội đáng chết, thì hãy giết nó, và treo lên trụ hình,

²³His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

²³thây nó chớ để treo trên trụ hình cách đêm, song phải chôn trong nội ngày đó; vì kẻ nào bị treo ắt bị Ðức Chúa Trời rủa sả. Như vậy, ngươi chẳng làm ô uế đất mà Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi ban cho ngươi làm sản nghiệp.
