¹Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?

¹Vậy, hãy kêu la! Có ai đáp lời ông chăng? Ông sẽ trở lại cùng đấng nào trong các thánh?

²For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.

²Vì nổi sầu thảm giết người ngu muội, Sự đố kỵ làm chết kẻ đơn sơ.

³I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

³Tôi có thấy kẻ ngu muội châm rễ ra; Nhưng thình lình tôi rủa sả chỗ ở của hắn.

⁴His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.

⁴Con cái hắn không được an nhiên, Bị chà nát tại cửa thành, chẳng có ai giải cứu;

⁵Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.

⁵Người đói khát ăn mùa màng hắn, Ðến đỗi đoạt lấy ở giữa bụi gai, Và bẫy gài rình của cải hắn.

⁶Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;

⁶Vì sự hoạn nạn chẳng phải từ bụi cát sanh ra, Sự khốn khó chẳng do đất nảy lên;

⁷Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

⁷Nhưng loài người sanh ra để bị khốn khó, Như lằn lửa bay chớp lên không.

⁸I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:

⁸Song tôi, tôi sẽ tìm cầu Ðức Chúa Trời, Mà phó duyên cớ tôi cho Ngài;

⁹Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:

⁹Ngài làm công việc lớn lao, không sao dò xét được, Làm những sự kỳ diệu, không thể đếm cho đặng;

¹⁰Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:

¹⁰Ngài ban mưa xuống mặt đất, Cho nước tràn đồng ruộng,

¹¹To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

¹¹Nhắc lên cao những kẻ bị hạ xuống, Và cứu đỡ những người buồn thảm cho được phước hạnh.

¹²He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

¹²Ngài làm bại mưu kế của người quỉ quyệt, Khiến tay chúng nó chẳng làm xong được việc toan định của họ.

¹³He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

¹³Ngài bắt kẻ khôn ngoan trong chước móc họ, Mưu kế của kẻ quỉ quái bèn bị hại.

¹⁴They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night.

¹⁴Ban ngày chúng nó gặp tối tăm, Ðương lúc trưa chúng rờ đi như trong đêm tối.

¹⁵But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

¹⁵Ðức Chúa Trời cứu kẻ nghèo khỏi gươm của miệng chúng nó, Và khỏi tay kẻ cường bạo.

¹⁶So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.

¹⁶Vậy, kẻ nghèo khốn có sự trông cậy, Còn kẻ gian ác ngậm miệng lại.

¹⁷Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

¹⁷Người mà Ðức Chúa Trời quở trách lấy làm phước thay! Vậy, chớ khinh sự sửa phạt của Ðấng Toàn năng.

¹⁸For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

¹⁸Vì Ngài làm cho bị thương tích, rồi lại bó rít cho; Ngài đánh hại, rồi tay Ngài chữa lành cho.

¹⁹He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

¹⁹Trong sáu cơn hoạn nạn, Ngài sẽ giải cứu cho, Qua cơn thứ bảy, tai hại cũng sẽ không đụng đến mình.

²⁰In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.

²⁰Trong cơn đói kém, Ngài sẽ giải cứu cho khỏi chết, Và đương lúc giặc giã, cứu khỏi lưỡi gươm.

²¹Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.

²¹Ông sẽ được ẩn núp khỏi tai hại của lưỡi; Cũng sẽ chẳng sợ chi khi tai vạ xảy đến.

²²At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

²²Ông sẽ cười thầm khi thấy sự phá hoang và sự đói kém, Cũng chẳng sợ các thú vật của đất;

²³For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

²³Vì ông lập giao ước với đá đồng ruộng; Và các thú rừng sẽ hòa thuận với ông.

²⁴And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.

²⁴Ông sẽ thấy trại mình được hòa bình; Ði viếng các bầy mình, sẽ chẳng thấy chi thiếu mất.

²⁵Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.

²⁵Cũng sẽ thấy dòng dõi mình nhiều, Và con cháu mình đông như cỏ trên đất.

²⁶Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.

²⁶Ông sẽ được tuổi cao khi vào trong phần mộ, Như một bó lúa mà người ta gặt phải thì.

²⁷Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

²⁷Nầy, chúng tôi có xem xét điều đó, nó vốn là vậy; Hãy nghe, hãy biết để làm ích cho mình.
