¹And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

¹Ðức Chúa Jêsus đầy dẫy Ðức Thánh Linh, ở bờ sông Giô-đanh về, thì được Ðức Thánh Linh đem đến trong đồng vắng,

²Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

²tại đó, Ngài bị ma quỉ cám dỗ trong bốn mươi ngày. Trong những ngày ấy, Ngài không ăn chi hết, kỳ đã mãn thì Ngài đói.

³And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

³Ma quỉ bèn nói với Ngài rằng: Nếu ngươi là Con Ðức Chúa Trời, thì hãy khiến đá nầy trở nên bánh đi.

⁴And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

⁴Ðức Chúa Jêsus đáp: Có chép rằng: Loài người được sống chẳng phải chỉ nhờ bánh mà thôi.

⁵And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

⁵Ma quỉ đem Ngài lên, cho xem mọi nước thế gian trong giây phút;

⁶And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

⁶và nói rằng: Ta sẽ cho ngươi hết thảy quyền phép và sự vinh hiển của các nước đó; vì đã giao cho ta hết, ta muốn cho ai tùy ý ta.

⁷If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

⁷Vậy, nếu ngươi sấp mình xuống trước mặt ta, mọi sự đó sẽ thuộc về ngươi cả.

⁸And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

⁸Ðức Chúa Jêsus đáp: Có chép rằng: Ngươi phải thờ phượng Chúa, là Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi, và chỉ hầu việc một mình Ngài mà thôi.

⁹And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

⁹Ma quỉ cũng đem Ngài đến thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, để Ngài trên nóc đền thờ, mà nói rằng: Nếu ngươi là Con Ðức Chúa Trời, hãy gieo mình xuống đi;

¹⁰For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

¹⁰vì có chép rằng: Chúa sẽ truyền cho thiên sứ gìn giữ ngươi,

¹¹And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

¹¹Các đấng ấy sẽ nâng ngươi trong tay, Kẻo ngươi vấp chơn nhằm đá nào chăng.

¹²And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

¹²Ðức Chúa Jêsus đáp: Có phán rằng: Ngươi đừng thử Chúa, là Ðức Chúa Trời ngươi.

¹³And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

¹³Ma quỉ dùng hết cách cám dỗ Ngài rồi, bèn tạm lìa Ngài.

¹⁴And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

¹⁴Ðức Chúa Jêsus được quyền phép Ðức Thánh Linh, trở về xứ Ga-li-lê, và danh tiếng Ngài đồn khắp các xứ chung quanh.

¹⁵And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

¹⁵Ngài dạy dỗ trong các nhà hội, ai nấy đều khen ngợi Ngài.

¹⁶And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

¹⁶Ðức Chúa Jêsus đến thành Na-xa-rét, là nơi dưỡng dục Ngài. Theo thói quen, nhằm ngày Sa-bát, Ngài vào nhà hội, đứng dậy và đọc.

¹⁷And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

¹⁷Có người trao sách tiên tri Ê-sai cho Ngài, Ngài dở ra, gặp chỗ có chép rằng:

¹⁸The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

¹⁸Thần của Chúa ngự trên ta: Vì Ngài đã xức dầu cho ta đặng truyền Tin Lành cho kẻ nghèo;

¹⁹To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

¹⁹Ngài đã sai ta để rao cho kẻ bị cầm được tha, Kẻ mù được sáng, Kẻ bị hà hiếp được tự do; Và để đồn ra năm lành của Chúa.

²⁰And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

²⁰Ðoạn, Ngài xếp sách, trả lại cho kẻ giúp việc, rồi ngồi xuống; mọi người trong nhà hội đều chăm chỉ ngó Ngài.

²¹And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

²¹Ngài bèn phán rằng: Hôm nay đã được ứng nghiệm lời Kinh Thánh mà các ngươi mới vừa nghe đó.

²²And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?

²²Ai nấy đều làm chứng về Ngài, lấy làm lạ về các lời đầy ơn lành từ miệng Ngài ra, và nói rằng: Có phải con Giô-sép chăng?

²³And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

²³Ngài phán rằng: Chắc các ngươi lấy lời tục ngữ nầy mà nói cùng ta rằng: Hỡi thầy thuốc, hãy tự chữa lấy mình; mọi điều chúng ta nghe ngươi đã làm tại Ca-bê-na-um, thì cũng hãy làm tại đây, là quê hương ngươi.

²⁴And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

²⁴Ngài lại phán rằng: Quả thật, ta nói cùng các ngươi, không có một đấng tiên tri nào được trọng đãi trong quê hương mình.

²⁵But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;

²⁵Ta nói thật cùng các ngươi, về đời Ê-li, khi trời đóng chặt trong ba năm sáu tháng, cả xứ bị đói kém, trong dân Y-sơ-ra-ên có nhiều đờn bà góa;

²⁶But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.

²⁶dầu vậy, Ê-li chẳng được sai đến cùng một người nào trong đám họ, nhưng được sai đến cùng một đờn bà góa ở Sa-rép-ta, xứ Si-đôn.

²⁷And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

²⁷Trong đời đấng tiên tri Ê-li-sê, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên cũng có nhiều kẻ mắc tật phung; song không có ai lành sạch được, chỉ Na-a-man, người xứ Sy-ri mà thôi.

²⁸And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

²⁸Ai nấy ở trong nhà hội nghe những điều đó, thì tức giận lắm.

²⁹And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.

²⁹Họ đứng dậy kéo Ngài ra ngoài thành, đưa Ngài lên đến chót núi, là nơi họ xây thành ở trên, để quăng Ngài xuống;

³⁰But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

³⁰song Ngài qua giữa bọn họ và đi khỏi.

³¹And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.

³¹Ngài xuống thành Ca-bê-na-um, thuộc xứ Ga-li-lê, dạy dỗ trong ngày Sa-bát.

³²And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

³²Mọi người đều cảm động về sự dạy dỗ của Ngài; vì Ngài dùng quyền phép mà phán.

³³And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,

³³Vả, trong nhà hội có một người bị tà ma ám, cất tiếng kêu lớn lên rằng: Hỡi Jêsus Na-xa-rét!

³⁴Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.

³⁴Chúng tôi với Ngài có sự gì chăng? Ngài đến để diệt chúng tôi sao? Tôi biết Ngài là ai: là Ðấng Thánh của Ðức Chúa Trời!

³⁵And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

³⁵Song Ðức Chúa Jêsus quở nặng nó, mà rằng: Hãy nín đi, và ra khỏi người nầy. Quỉ bèn vật ngã người giữa đám đông, rồi ra khỏi không làm hại chi đến người.

³⁶And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

³⁶Mọi người đều sững sờ, nói cùng nhau rằng: Ấy là đạo gì đó? Người lấy phép và quyền đuổi tà ma, và chúng nó liền ra!

³⁷And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.

³⁷Vậy danh tiếng Ngài đồn ra các nơi xung quanh.

³⁸And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

³⁸Ðức Chúa Jêsus ra khỏi nhà hội, vào nhà Si-môn. Bà gia Si-môn đang đau rét nặng lắm. Người ta xin Ngài chữa cho,

³⁹And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

³⁹Ngài bèn nghiêng mình trên người, truyền cho cơn rét, rét liền lìa khỏi. Tức thì người chờ dậy hầu việc.

⁴⁰Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

⁴⁰Khi mặt trời lặn rồi, ai nấy có người đau, bất kỳ bịnh gì, đều đem đến cùng Ngài; Ngài đặt tay lên từng người mà chữa cho họ.

⁴¹And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

⁴¹Cũng có các quỉ ra khỏi nhiều kẻ, mà kêu lên rằng: Ngài là Ðấng Christ, Con Ðức Chúa Trời! Nhưng Ngài quở nặng chúng nó, cấm không cho nói mình biết Ngài là Ðấng Christ.

⁴²And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.

⁴²Vừa rạng ngày, Ngài ra đi đến nơi vắng vẻ, một đoàn dân đông kéo đi tìm Ngài. Họ theo kịp, giữ Ngài ở lại, không muốn để Ngài đi.

⁴³And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

⁴³Nhưng Ngài phán cùng họ rằng: Ta cũng phải rao Tin Lành của nước Ðức Chúa Trời nơi các thành khác; vì cốt tại việc đó mà ta được sai đến.

⁴⁴And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

⁴⁴Vậy Ngài giảng dạy trong các nhà hội xứ Ga-li-lê.
