¹And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.

¹Ðức Chúa Jêsus lại khởi sự giảng dạy nơi bờ biển; có một đoàn dân đông lắm nhóm lại xung quanh Ngài, Ngài bước lên trong một chiếc thuyền và ngồi đó, còn cả đoàn dân thì ở trên đất nơi mé biển.

²And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,

²Ngài lấy thí dụ dạy dỗ họ nhiều điều, và trong khi dạy, Ngài phán rằng:

³Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:

³Hãy nghe. Có người gieo giống đi ra đặng gieo.

⁴And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.

⁴Khi đương gieo, một phần giống rơi dọc đường, chim đến ăn hết.

⁵And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:

⁵Một phần khác rơi nhằm nơi đất đá sỏi, chỉ có ít đất thịt, tức thì mọc lên, vì bị lấp không sâu;

⁶But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

⁶nhưng khi mặt trời đã mọc, thì bị đốt, và bởi không có rễ, nên phải héo.

⁷And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

⁷Một phần khác rơi nhằm bụi gai; gai mọc lên làm cho nghẹt ngòi, và không kết quả.

⁸And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.

⁸Một phần khác nữa rơi nhằm nơi đất tốt, thì kết quả, lớn lên và nẩy nở ra; một hột ra ba chục, hột khác sáu chục, hột khác một trăm.

⁹And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

⁹Ngài lại phán rằng: Ai có tai mà nghe, hãy nghe.

¹⁰And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.

¹⁰Khi Ðức Chúa Jêsus ở một mình, những kẻ xung quanh Ngài cùng mười hai sứ đồ hỏi Ngài về các lời thí dụ.

¹¹And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

¹¹Ngài phán rằng: Sự mầu nhiệm của nước Ðức Chúa Trời đã tỏ ra cho các ngươi; nhưng về phần người ngoài, thì dùng thí dụ để dạy mọi sự,

¹²That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

¹²hầu cho họ xem thì xem mà không thấy, nghe thì nghe mà không hiểu; e họ hối cải mà được tha tội chăng.

¹³And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

¹³Ðoạn, Ngài phán rằng: Các ngươi không hiểu thí dụ ấy sao? Vậy thì thế nào hiểu mọi thí dụ được?

¹⁴The sower soweth the word.

¹⁴Người gieo giống ấy là gieo đạo.

¹⁵And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

¹⁵Những kẻ ở dọc đường là kẻ đã chịu đạo gieo nơi mình; nhưng vừa mới nghe đạo, tức thì quỉ Sa-tan đến, cướp lấy đạo đã gieo trong lòng họ đi.

¹⁶And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;

¹⁶Cũng vậy, những người chịu giống gieo nơi đất đá sỏi, là những kẻ nghe đạo, liền vui mừng chịu lấy;

¹⁷And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.

¹⁷song vì trong lòng họ không có rễ, chỉ tạm thời mà thôi, nên nỗi gặp khi vì cớ đạo mà xảy ra sự cực khổ, bắt bớ, thì liền vấp phạm.

¹⁸And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

¹⁸Còn những kẻ chịu giống gieo nơi bụi gai, là kẻ đã nghe đạo;

¹⁹And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

¹⁹song sự lo lắng về đời nầy, sự mê đắm về giàu sang, và các sự tham muốn khác thấu vào lòng họ, làm cho nghẹt ngòi đạo, và trở nên không trái.

²⁰And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

²⁰Nhưng, những người chịu giống gieo vào nơi đất tốt, là kẻ nghe đạo, chịu lấy và kết quả, một hột ra ba chục, hột khác sáu chục, hột khác một trăm.

²¹And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?

²¹Ngài lại phán cùng họ rằng: Có ai đem đèn để dưới cái thùng hoặc dưới cái giường chăng? Há chẳng phải để trên chơn đèn sao?

²²For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

²²Vì chẳng có điều chi kín mà không phải lộ ra, chẳng có điều chi giấu mà không phải rõ ràng.

²³If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

²³Nếu ai có tai mà nghe, hãy nghe!

²⁴And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

²⁴Ngài lại phán rằng: Hãy cẩn thận về điều mình nghe. Người ta sẽ đong cho các ngươi bằng lường các ngươi đã đong cho, và thêm vào đó nữa.

²⁵For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

²⁵Vì sẽ ban thêm cho kẻ nào có; nhưng kẻ nào không có, sẽ bị cất lấy điều mình đã có.

²⁶And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;

²⁶Ngài lại phán rằng: Nước Ðức Chúa Trời cũng như một người vải giống xuống đất;

²⁷And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.

²⁷người ngủ hay dậy, đêm và ngày, giống cứ nẩy chồi mọc lên, mà người không biết thể nào.

²⁸For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.

²⁸Vì đất tự sanh ra hoa lợi: ban đầu là cây, kế đến bông, đoạn bông kết thành hột.

²⁹But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

²⁹Khi hột đã chín, người ta liền tra lưỡi hái vào, vì mùa gặt đã đến.

³⁰And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?

³⁰Ngài lại phán rằng: Chúng ta sánh nước Ðức Chúa Trời với chi, hay lấy thí dụ nào mà tỏ ra?

³¹It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:

³¹Nước ấy giống như một hột cải: khi người ta gieo, nó nhỏ hơn hết các hột giống trên đất;

³²But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

³²song khi gieo rồi, nó mọc lên, trở lớn hơn mọi thứ rau, và nứt ra nhành lớn, đến nỗi chim trời núp dưới bóng nó được.

³³And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.

³³Ấy bởi nhiều lời thí dụ như cách ấy mà Ngài giảng đạo cho họ, tùy theo sức họ nghe được.

³⁴But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

³⁴Ngài chẳng hề giảng cho chúng mà không dùng thí dụ; nhưng, khi ở riêng, Ngài cắt nghĩa hết cho môn đồ mình.

³⁵And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

³⁵Ðến chiều ngày ấy, Ngài phán cùng môn đồ rằng: Chúng ta hãy qua bờ bên kia.

³⁶And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

³⁶Khi cho dân chúng tan về rồi, Ðức Chúa Jêsus cứ ở trong thuyền, và môn đồ đưa Ngài đi; cũng có các thuyền khác cùng đi nữa.

³⁷And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

³⁷Vả, có cơn bão lớn nổi lên, sóng tạt vào thuyền, đến nỗi gần đầy nước;

³⁸And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

³⁸nhưng Ngài đương ở đằng sau lái, dựa gối mà ngủ. Môn đồ thức Ngài dậy mà thưa rằng: Thầy ôi, thầy không lo chúng ta chết sao?

³⁹And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

³⁹Ngài bèn thức dậy, quở gió và phán cùng biển rằng: Hãy êm đi, lặng đi! Gió liền dứt và đều yên lặng như tờ.

⁴⁰And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

⁴⁰Ðoạn, Ngài phán cùng môn đồ rằng: Sao các ngươi sợ? Chưa có đức tin sao?

⁴¹And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

⁴¹Môn đồ kinh hãi lắm, nói với nhau rằng: Vậy thì người nầy là ai, mà gió và biển đều vâng lịnh người?
