¹At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat.

¹Lúc đó, nhằm ngày Sa-bát, Ðức Chúa Jêsus đi qua giữa đồng lúa mì; các môn đồ đói, bứt bông lúa mà ăn.

²But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.

²Người Pha-ri-si thấy vậy, bèn nói cùng Ngài rằng: Kìa môn đồ thầy làm điều không nên làm trong ngày Sa-bát.

³But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;

³Song Ngài đáp rằng: Chuyện vua Ða-vít đã làm trong khi vua với kẻ đi theo bị đói, các ngươi há chưa đọc đến sao?

⁴How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?

⁴tức là vua vào đền Ðức Chúa Trời, ăn bánh bày ra, là bánh mà vua và kẻ đi theo không có phép ăn, chỉ để riêng cho các thầy tế lễ.

⁵Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

⁵Hay là các ngươi không đọc trong sách luật, đến ngày Sa-bát, các thầy tế lễ trong đền thờ phạm luật ngày đó, mà không phải tội sao?

⁶But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.

⁶Vả lại, ta phán cùng các ngươi, tại chỗ nầy có một đấng tôn trọng hơn đền thờ.

⁷But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

⁷Phải chi các ngươi hiểu nghĩa câu nầy: Ta muốn lòng nhân từ, không muốn của tế lễ, thì các ngươi không trách những người vô tội;

⁸For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

⁸vì Con người là Chúa ngày Sa-bát.

⁹And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:

⁹Ðức Chúa Jêsus đi khỏi nơi đó, bèn vào nhà hội.

¹⁰And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

¹⁰Ở đó, có một người teo một bàn tay. Có kẻ hỏi Ngài rằng: Trong ngày Sa-bát, có phép chữa kẻ bịnh hay không? Ấy là họ có ý kiếm dịp kiện Ngài.

¹¹And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

¹¹Ngài bèn phán cùng họ rằng: Ai trong vòng các ngươi có một con chiên, nếu đương ngày Sa-bát, bị té xuống hầm, thì há không kéo nó lên sao?

¹²How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

¹²Huống chi người ta trọng hơn con chiên là dường nào! Vậy, trong ngày Sa-bát có phép làm việc lành.

¹³Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

¹³Ðoạn, Ngài phán cùng người tay teo rằng: Hãy giơ tay ra. Người liền giơ tay, thì tay nầy cũng lành như tay kia.

¹⁴Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

¹⁴Những người Pha-ri-si đi ra ngoài rồi, bàn với nhau, lập mưu đặng giết Ngài.

¹⁵But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;

¹⁵Song Ðức Chúa Jêsus biết điều ấy, thì bỏ đi khỏi chỗ đó; có nhiều người theo, và Ngài chữa lành cả.

¹⁶And charged them that they should not make him known:

¹⁶Ngài cấm ngặt họ đừng cho ai biết Ngài;

¹⁷That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

¹⁷để được ứng nghiệm lời đấng tiên tri Ê-sai đã nói rằng:

¹⁸Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.

¹⁸Nầy, tôi tớ ta đã chọn, Là người mà ta rất yêu dấu, đẹp lòng ta mọi đàng. Ta sẽ cho Thánh Linh ta ngự trên người, Người sẽ rao giảng sự công bình cho dân ngoại.

¹⁹He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.

¹⁹Người sẽ chẳng cãi lẫy, chẳng kêu la, Và chẳng ai nghe được tiếng người ngoài đường cái.

²⁰A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.

²⁰Người sẽ chẳng bẻ cây sậy đã gãy, chẳng tắt ngọn đèn gần tàn, Cho đến chừng nào người khiến sự công bình được thắng.

²¹And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

²¹Dân ngoại sẽ trông cậy danh người.

²²Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.

²²Bấy giờ có kẻ đem đến cho Ðức Chúa Jêsus một người mắc quỉ ám, đui và câm; Ngài chữa cho, đến nỗi người câm nói và thấy được.

²³And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?

²³Chúng lấy làm lạ, mà nói rằng: Có phải người đó là con cháu vua Ða-vít chăng?

²⁴But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

²⁴Song những người Pha-ri-si nghe vậy, thì nói rằng: Người nầy chỉ nhờ Bê-ên-xê-bun là chúa quỉ mà trừ quỉ đó thôi.

²⁵And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

²⁵Ðức Chúa Jêsus biết ý tưởng họ, thì phán rằng: Một nước mà chia xé nhau thì bị phá hoang; một thành hay là một nhà mà chia xé nhau thì không còn được.

²⁶And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?

²⁶Nếu quỉ Sa-tan trừ quỉ Sa-tan, ấy là tự nó chia xé nhau; thì nước nó làm sao còn được ư?

²⁷And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.

²⁷Và nếu ta nhờ Bê-ên-xê-bun mà trừ quỉ, thì con các ngươi nhờ ai mà trừ quỉ ư? Bởi đó, chính chúng nó sẽ xử đoán các ngươi vậy.

²⁸But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

²⁸Mà nếu ta cậy Thánh Linh của Ðức Chúa Trời để trừ quỉ, thì nước Ðức Chúa Trời đã đến tận các ngươi.

²⁹Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

²⁹Hay là, có lẽ nào, ai vào nhà một người mạnh sức để cướp lấy của, mà trước không trói người mạnh sức ấy được sao? Phải trói người rồi mới cướp của nhà người được.

³⁰He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

³⁰Ai không ở với ta, thì nghịch cùng ta; ai không thâu hiệp với ta, thì tan ra.

³¹Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

³¹Ấy vậy, ta phán cùng các ngươi, các tội lỗi và lời phạm thượng của người ta đều sẽ được tha; song lời phạm thượng đến Ðức Thánh Linh thì sẽ chẳng được tha đâu.

³²And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

³²Nếu ai nói phạm đến Con người, thì sẽ được tha; song nếu ai nói phạm đến Ðức Thánh Linh, thì dầu đời nầy hay đời sau cũng sẽ chẳng được tha.

³³Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

³³Hoặc cho là cây tốt thì trái cũng tốt, hoặc cho là cây xấu thì trái cũng xấu; vì xem trái thì biết cây.

³⁴O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

³⁴Hỡi dòng dõi rắn lục; bay vốn là loài xấu, làm sao nói được sự tốt? Bởi vì do sự đầy dẫy trong lòng mà miệng mới nói ra.

³⁵A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

³⁵Người lành do nơi đã chứa điều thiện mà phát ra điều thiện; nhưng kẻ dữ do nơi đã chứa điều ác mà phát ra điều ác.

³⁶But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

³⁶Vả, ta bảo các ngươi, đến ngày phán xét, người ta sẽ khai ra mọi lời hư không mà mình đã nói;

³⁷For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

³⁷vì bởi lời nói mà ngươi sẽ được xưng là công bình, cũng bởi lời nói mà ngươi sẽ bị phạt.

³⁸Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

³⁸Bấy giờ có mấy thầy thông giáo và người Pha-ri-si thưa cùng Ðức Chúa Jêsus rằng: Bẩm thầy, chúng tôi muốn xem thầy làm dấu lạ.

³⁹But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:

³⁹Ngài đáp rằng: Dòng dõi hung ác gian dâm này xin một dấu lạ, nhưng sẽ chẳng cho dấu lạ khác ngoài dấu lạ của đấng tiên tri Giô-na.

⁴⁰For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

⁴⁰Vì Giô-na đã bị ở trong bụng cá lớn ba ngày ba đêm, cũng một thể ấy, Con người sẽ ở trong lòng đất ba ngày ba đêm.

⁴¹The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

⁴¹Ðến ngày phán xét, dân thành Ni-ni-ve sẽ đứng dậy với dòng dõi nầy mà lên án nó, vì dân ấy đã nghe lời Giô-na giảng và ăn năn; mà đây nầy, có một người tôn trọng hơn Giô-na!

⁴²The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

⁴²Ðến ngày phán xét, nữ hoàng nam phương sẽ đứng dậy với dòng dõi nầy mà lên án nó, vì người từ nơi cùng trái đất đến nghe lời khôn ngoan vua Sa-lô-môn; mà đây nầy, có một người tôn trọng hơn vua Sa-lô-môn!

⁴³When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.

⁴³Khi tà ma ra khỏi một người, thì nó đi đến nơi khô khan kiếm chỗ nghỉ, nhưng kiếm không được;

⁴⁴Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

⁴⁴rồi nó nói rằng: Ta sẽ trở về nhà ta mà ta mới ra khỏi; khi trở về, thấy nhà không, quét sạch, và sửa soạn tử tế.

⁴⁵Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

⁴⁵Nó bèn lại đi, đem về bảy quỉ khác dữ hơn nó nữa, cùng vào nhà đó mà ở; vậy số phận người ấy sau lại xấu hơn trước. Dòng dõi dữ nầy cũng như vậy.

⁴⁶While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.

⁴⁶Khi Ðức Chúa Jêsus còn phán cùng dân chúng, thì mẹ và anh em Ngài đến đứng ngoài, muốn nói cùng Ngài.

⁴⁷Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.

⁴⁷Có người thưa cùng Ngài rằng: Ðây nầy, mẹ và anh em thầy ở ngoài, muốn nói cùng thầy.

⁴⁸But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

⁴⁸Ngài đáp rằng: Ai là mẹ ta, ai là anh em ta?

⁴⁹And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

⁴⁹Ngài giơ tay chỉ các môn đồ mình, mà phán rằng: Nầy là mẹ ta cùng anh em ta!

⁵⁰For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

⁵⁰Vì hễ ai làm theo ý muốn Cha ta ở trên trời, thì người đó là anh em, chị em ta, cùng là mẹ ta vậy.
