¹The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

¹Những người Pha-ri-si và Sa-đu-sê đến cùng Ðức Chúa Jêsus, có ý thử Ngài, thì xin làm cho xem một dấu lạ từ trên trời xuống.

²He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

²Nhưng Ngài đáp rằng: Khi chiều tối đến, thì các ngươi nói rằng: sẽ tốt trời, vì trời đỏ.

³And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

³Còn sớm mai, thì các ngươi nói rằng: Hôm nay sẽ có cơn dông, vì trời đỏ và mờ mờ. Các ngươi người biết phân biệt rõ sắc trời, mà không phân biệt được dấu chỉ thì giờ ư!

⁴A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

⁴Dòng dõi hung ác gian dâm nầy xin một dấu lạ; nhưng sẽ chẳng cho dấu lạ chi khác ngoài dấu lạ của đấng tiên tri Giô-na. Rồi Ngài bỏ họ mà đi.

⁵And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

⁵Khi môn đồ đi đến bờ bên kia, quên đem bánh theo.

⁶Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

⁶Ðức Chúa Jêsus phán cùng môn đồ rằng: Hãy giữ mình cẩn thận về men của người Pha-ri-si và Sa-đu-sê.

⁷And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

⁷Môn đồ suy nghĩ và luận cùng nhau rằng: Ðây là vì chúng ta không đem bánh theo.

⁸Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

⁸Ðức Chúa Jêsus biết điều đó, thì phán rằng: Hỡi kẻ ít đức tin, sao các ngươi tưởng rằng ấy là vì cớ các ngươi không có bánh?

⁹Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

⁹Các ngươi há chưa hiểu, cũng không nhớ năm cái bánh cho năm ngàn người, và các ngươi lượm được mấy giỏ đầy bánh thừa sao?

¹⁰Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

¹⁰Lại há không nhớ bảy cái bánh cho bốn ngàn người, và các người lượm được bao nhiêu giỏ đầy bánh thừa sao?

¹¹How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

¹¹Các ngươi sao chẳng hiểu rằng không phải về bánh mà ta muốn nói đâu? nhưng hãy giữ mình về men của người Pha-ri-si và Sa-đu-sê.

¹²Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

¹²Bấy giờ môn đồ mới hiểu rằng Ngài chẳng bảo giữ mình về men làm bánh, nhưng về đạo của người Pha-ri-si và Sa-đu-sê.

¹³When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

¹³Khi Ðức Chúa Jêsus đã vào địa phận thành Sê-sa-rê Phi-líp, bèn hỏi môn đồ, mà rằng: Theo lời người ta nói thì Con người là ai?

¹⁴And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

¹⁴Môn đồ thưa rằng: Người nói là Giăng Báp-tít; kẻ nói là Ê-li; kẻ khác lại nói là Giê-rê-mi, hay là một đấng tiên tri nào đó.

¹⁵He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

¹⁵Ngài phán rằng: Còn các người thì xưng ta là ai?

¹⁶And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

¹⁶Si-môn Phi -e-rơ thưa rằng: Chúa là Ðấng Christ, con Ðức Chúa Trời hằng sống.

¹⁷And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

¹⁷Bấy giờ, Ðức Chúa Jêsus phán cùng người rằng: Hỡi Si-môn, con Giô-na, ngươi có phước đó; vì chẳng phải thịt và huyết tỏ cho ngươi biết điều nầy đâu, bèn là Cha ta ở trên trời vậy.

¹⁸And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

¹⁸Còn ta, ta bảo ngươi rằng: Ngươi là Phi -e-rơ, ta sẽ lập Hội thánh ta trên đá nầy, các cửa âm phủ chẳng thắng được hội đó.

¹⁹And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

¹⁹Ta sẽ giao chìa khóa nước thiên đàng cho ngươi; hễ điều gì mà ngươi buộc dưới đất, thì cũng sẽ buộc ở trên trời, và điều gì mà ngươi mở dưới đất, thì cũng sẽ mở ở trên trời.

²⁰Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

²⁰Ðoạn, Ngài cấm môn đồ đừng nói cho ai biết rằng Ngài, Ðức Chúa Jêsus, là Ðấng Christ.

²¹From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

²¹Từ đó, Ðức Chúa Jêsus mới tỏ cho môn đồ biết rằng mình phải đi đến thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, phải chịu tại đó nhiều sự khốn khổ bởi những người trưởng lão, thầy tế lễ cả, cùng thầy thông giáo, và phải bị giết, đến ngày thứ ba phải sống lại.

²²Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

²²Phi -e-rơ bèn đem Ngài riêng ra, mà can rằng: Hỡi Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời nào nỡ vậy! Sự đó sẽ không xảy đến cho Chúa đâu!

²³But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

²³Nhưng Ngài xây mặt lại mà phán cùng Phi -e-rơ rằng: Ớ Sa-tan, hãy lui ra đằng sau ta! Ngươi làm gương xấu cho ta; vì ngươi chẳng nghĩ đến việc Ðức Chúa Trời, song nghĩ đến việc người ta.

²⁴Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

²⁴Ðức Chúa Jêsus bèn phán cùng môn đồ rằng: Nếu ai muốn theo ta, thì phải liều mình, vác thập tự giá mình mà theo ta.

²⁵For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

²⁵Vì ai muốn cứu sự sống mình thì sẽ mất, còn ai vì cớ ta mà mất sự sống mình thì sẽ được lại.

²⁶For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

²⁶Người nào nếu được cả thiên hạ mà mất linh hồn mình, thì có ích gì? Vậy thì người lấy chi mà đổi linh hồn mình lại?

²⁷For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

²⁷Vì Con người sẽ ngự trong sự vinh hiển của Cha mình mà giáng xuống cùng các thiên sứ, lúc đó, Ngài sẽ thưởng cho từng người, tùy việc họ làm.

²⁸Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

²⁸Quả thật, ta nói cùng các ngươi, trong các ngươi đứng đây, có một vài kẻ sẽ không chết trước khi thấy con người ngự đến trong nước Ngài.
