¹A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

¹Lời đáp êm nhẹ làm nguôi cơn giận; Còn lời xẳng xớm trêu thạnh nộ thêm.

²The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

²Lưỡi người khôn ngoan truyền ra sự tri thức cách phải; Nhưng miệng kẻ ngu muội chỉ buông điều điên cuồng.

³The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

³Con mắt Ðức Giê-hô-va ở khắp mọi nơi, Xem xét kẻ gian ác và người lương thiện.

⁴A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

⁴Lưỡi hiền lành giống như một cây sự sống; Song lưỡi gian tà làm cho hư nát tâm thần.

⁵A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.

⁵Kẻ ngu dại khinh sự khuyên dạy của cha mình; Còn ai giữ theo lời quở trách trở nên khôn khéo.

⁶In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

⁶Trong nhà người công bình có nhiều vật quí; Song trong huê lợi kẻ gian ác có điều rối loạn.

⁷The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

⁷Môi người khôn ngoan rải sự tri thức ra; Nhưng lòng kẻ ngu muội chẳng làm như vậy.

⁸The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

⁸Của tế lễ kẻ gian ác lấy làm gớm ghiếc cho Ðức Giê-hô-va; Song lời cầu nguyện của người ngay thẳng được đẹp lòng Ngài.

⁹The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

⁹Ðường lối kẻ ác lấy làm gớm ghiếc cho Ðức Giê-hô-va; Nhưng Ngài thương mến người nào theo sự công bình.

¹⁰Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.

¹⁰Sự hình phạt nặng nề dành cho kẻ bỏ chánh lộ; Và kẻ ghét lời quở trách sẽ chết mất.

¹¹Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?

¹¹Aâm phủ và chốn trầm luân còn ở trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va thay, Phương chi lòng của con cái loài người!

¹²A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.

¹²Kẻ nhạo báng không ưa người ta quở trách mình; Hắn không muốn đến cùng người khôn ngoan.

¹³A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

¹³Lòng khoái lạc làm cho mặt mày vui vẻ; Nhưng tại lòng buồn bã trí bèn bị nao sờn.

¹⁴The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.

¹⁴Lòng người thông sáng tìm kiếm sự tri thức; Còn lỗ miệng kẻ ngu muội nuôi lấy mình bằng sự điên cuồng.

¹⁵All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.

¹⁵Các ngày kẻ bị hoạn nạn đều là gian hiểm; Song lòng vui mừng dự yến tiệc luôn luôn.

¹⁶Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.

¹⁶Thà có ít của mà kính sợ Ðức Giê-hô-va, Còn hơn là tài sản nhiều mà bối rối cặp theo.

¹⁷Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

¹⁷Thà một món rau mà thương yêu nhau, Còn hơn ăn bò mập béo với sự ganh ghét cặp theo.

¹⁸A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

¹⁸Người hay giận gây điều đánh lộn; Nhưng người chậm nóng giận làm nguôi cơn tranh cãi.

¹⁹The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.

¹⁹Ðường kẻ biếng nhác như một hàng rào gai; Còn nẻo người ngay thẳng được ban bằng.

²⁰A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

²⁰Con khôn ngoan làm vui vẻ cha nó; Còn đứa ngu muội khinh bỉ mẹ mình.

²¹Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.

²¹Kẻ thiếu trí hiểu lấy sự điên dại làm vui; Song người khôn sáng sửa đường mình ngay thẳng rồi đi.

²²Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

²²Ðâu không có nghị luận, đó mưu đành phải phế; Nhưng nhờ có nhiều mưu sĩ, mưu định bèn được thành.

²³A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!

²³Miệng hay đáp giỏi khiến người vui vẻ; Và lời nói phải thì lấy làm tốt biết bao!

²⁴The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

²⁴Con đường sự sống của người khôn ngoan dẫn lên trên, Ðể tránh khỏi âm phủ ở dưới thấp.

²⁵The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.

²⁵Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ đánh đổ nhà kẻ kiêu ngạo; Nhưng Ngài làm vững chắc các mộc giới của kẻ góa bụa.

²⁶The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.

²⁶Các mưu ác lấy làm gớm ghiếc cho Ðức Giê-hô-va; Song lời thanh sạch đẹp lòng Ngài.

²⁷He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.

²⁷Người tham lợi làm rối loạn nhà mình; Còn ai ghét của hối lộ sẽ được sống.

²⁸The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

²⁸Lòng người công bình suy nghĩ lời phải đáp; Nhưng miệng kẻ ác buông ra điều dữ.

²⁹The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

²⁹Ðức Giê-hô-va xa cách kẻ ác; Nhưng Ngài nghe lời cầu nguyện của người công bình.

³⁰The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.

³⁰Sự sáng con mắt khiến lòng vui vẻ; Và một tin lành làm cho xương cốt được béo tốt.

³¹The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.

³¹Kẻ nào nghe lời quở trách của sự sống Sẽ được ở giữa các người khôn ngoan.

³²He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.

³²Ai từ chối sự khuyên dạy khinh bỉ linh hồn mình. Nhưng ai nghe lời quở trách được sự thông sáng.

³³The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

³³Sự kính sợ Ðức Giê-hô-va dạy dỗ điều khôn ngoan; Và sự khiêm nhượng đi trước sự tôn trọng.
