¹My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

¹Hỡi con, hãy chăm chỉ về sự khôn ngoan ta, Khá nghiêng tai qua nghe lời thông sáng ta;

²That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

²Ðể con gìn giữ sự dẽ dặt, Và môi con bảo tồn sự tri thức.

³For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

³Vì môi kẻ dâm phụ đặt ra mật, Và miệng nó dịu hơn dầu;

⁴But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

⁴Nhưng rốt lại đắng như ngải cứu, Bén như gươm hai lưỡi.

⁵Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

⁵Chơn nó xuống chốn chết; Bước nó đụng đến âm phủ.

⁶Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

⁶Nó không tìm đặng con đường bằng thẳng của sự sống; Các lối nó lầm lạc, song nó chẳng biết đến.

⁷Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

⁷Vậy bây giờ, hỡi các con, hãy nghe ta; Chớ lìa bỏ các lời của miệng ta.

⁸Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

⁸Hãy dời đường con cách xa khỏi nó, Ðừng lại gần cửa nhà nó;

⁹Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

⁹E con trao sự danh dự mình cho kẻ khác, Và năm tuổi con cho kẻ hung bạo.

¹⁰Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

¹⁰E người lạ được no nê hóa tài con, Và công lao con về nhà kẻ ngoại;

¹¹And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

¹¹Kẻo đến cuối cùng con phải rên siết, Vì thịt và thân thể con đã bị hao mòn,

¹²And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

¹²Rồi con nói rằng: Cớ sao tôi ghét lời khuyên dạy, Và lòng tôi khinh bỉ sự quở trách?

¹³And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

¹³Nhơn sao tôi không vâng theo tiếng giáo sư tôi, Và chẳng nghiêng tai qua lời của người dạy dỗ tôi?

¹⁴I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

¹⁴Tại giữa dân sự và hội chúng, Tôi thiếu điều bị sa vào các thứ tai họa.

¹⁵Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

¹⁵Hãy uống nước hồ con chứa, Và nước chảy trong giếng con.

¹⁶Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

¹⁶Các nguồn của con há nên tràn ra ngoài đường, Và các suối của con tuôn nơi phố chợ sao?

¹⁷Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.

¹⁷Nó khá về một mình con, Chớ thông dụng nó với người ngoại.

¹⁸Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

¹⁸Nguyện nguồn mạch con được phước; Con hãy lấy làm vui thích nơi vợ con cưới buổi đang thì,

¹⁹Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

¹⁹Như nai cái đáng thương, và hoàng dương có duyên tốt, Nguyện nương long nàng làm thỏa lòng con luôn luôn, Và ái tình nàng khiến cho con say mê mãi mãi.

²⁰And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

²⁰Hỡi con, lẽ nào con mê mệt người dâm phụ, Và nâng niu lòng của người ngoại?

²¹For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

²¹Vì các đường của loài người ở trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va; Ngài ban bằng các lối của họ.

²²His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

²²Kẻ hung dữ sẽ bị gian ác mình bắt phải, Và bị dây tội lỗi mình vấn buộc lấy.

²³He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

²³Nó sẽ chết vì thiếu lời khuyên dạy, Và bị lầm lạc vì ngu dại quá.
