King James Version

Wolof: New Testament

1 Corinthians

13

1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
1 Su fekkee ne damay wax làkki nit ñi ak yu malaaka yi sax, te boolewuma ci mbëggeel, duma dara lu dul ndënd muy riir, walla jóolóoli buy kandaŋ-kandaŋi.
2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
2 Su ma yéglee wax ju tukkee ci Yàlla, ma xam lépp luy kumpa, ma yor xam-xam bépp, te gëm Yàlla ba man a randal ay tund, fekk boolewuma ci mbëggeel, duma dara.
3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
3 Te it su ma doon saraxe li ma am lépp, di bàyyi ñu lakk sama yaram, ba rey ma, su ma ci boolewul mbëggeel, du ma jariñ dara.
4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
4 Ku bëgg dafay muñ te laabiir. Ku bëgg du kiñaan, du kañu, du tiitaru,
5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
5 du def lu jekkadi, du wut njariñu boppam, du naqari deret, du ñaaw njort.
6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
6 Du bég ci lu awul yoon, waaye dina bég ci lépp luy jollil dëgg.
7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
7 Mbëggeel day baale lépp, am gëm ci lépp, yaakaar lépp, muñ lépp.
8Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
8 Mbëggeel amul àpp. Ñiy wax ci kàddug Yàlla dinañu noppi, ñiy wax ay làkk dinañu ko bàyyi, ñiy xamle xam-xamu Yàlla wàcc.
9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
9 Xam-xam bi nu am des na, te ni nu jottalee xebaar bi nu Yàlla dénk des na.
10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
10 Waaye li mat, bu dikkee, li matul jóge fi.
11When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
11 Bi ma dee xale, dama doon wax ni xale, di dégge ni xale, di xalaate ni xale. Waaye bi ma doonee mag, bàyyi naa lu bokkoon cig ndaw.
12For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
12 Tey jii gis bu lëndëm lanuy gis, ni takkandeer ci seetu bu lëndëm, bu ëllëgee dinanu gis jaxran. Tey jii sama xam-xam des na, bu ëllëgee dinaa xam ba mat sëkk, ni ma Yàlla xame.
13And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
13 Léegi nag ñett yii ñooy sax: ngëm, yaakaar, mbëggeel; te mbëggeel moo ci raw.
