25

1Festus, therefore, having come into the province, after three days went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea,
1 Felly, dridiau wedi i Ffestus gyrraedd ei dalaith, aeth i fyny i Jerwsalem o Gesarea,
2and the chief priest and the principal men of the Jews made manifest to him [the things] against Paul, and were calling on him,
2 a gosododd y prif offeiriaid ac arweinwyr yr Iddewon eu hachos yn erbyn Paul ger ei fron.
3asking favour against him, that he may send for him to Jerusalem, making an ambush to put him to death in the way.
3 Yr oeddent yn ceisio gan Ffestus eu ffafrio hwy yn ei erbyn ef, yn deisyf am iddo anfon amdano i Jerwsalem, ac ar yr un pryd yn gwneud cynllwyn i'w ladd ar y ffordd.
4Then, indeed, Festus answered that Paul is kept in Caesarea, and himself is about speedily to go on thither,
4 Atebodd Ffestus, fodd bynnag, fod Paul dan warchodaeth yng Nghesarea, a'i fod ef ei hun yn bwriadu cychwyn i ffwrdd yn fuan.
5`Therefore those able among you — saith he — having come down together, if there be anything in this man — let them accuse him;`
5 "Felly," meddai, "gadewch i'r gwu375?r sydd ag awdurdod yn eich plith ddod i lawr gyda mi a'i gyhuddo ef, os yw'r dyn wedi gwneud rhywbeth o'i le."
6and having tarried among them more than ten days, having gone down to Caesarea, on the morrow having sat upon the tribunal, he commanded Paul to be brought;
6 Arhosodd Ffestus gyda hwy am wyth neu ddeg diwrnod ar y mwyaf. Yna aeth i lawr i Gesarea, a thrannoeth cymerodd ei le yn y llys a gorchymyn dod Paul gerbron.
7and he having come, there stood round about the Jews who have come down from Jerusalem — many and weighty charges they are bringing against Paul, which they were not able to prove,
7 Pan ymddangosodd Paul, safodd yr Iddewon oedd wedi dod i lawr o Jerwsalem o'i amgylch, gan ddwyn llawer o gyhuddiadau difrifol yn ei erbyn.
8he making defence — `Neither in regard to the law of the Jews, nor in regard to the temple, nor in regard to Caesar — did I commit any sin.`
8 Ond ni allent eu profi yn wyneb yr hyn a ddywedodd Paul yn ei amddiffyniad: "Nid wyf fi wedi troseddu o gwbl, nac yn erbyn Cyfraith yr Iddewon, nac yn erbyn y deml, nac yn erbyn Cesar."
9And Festus willing to lay on the Jews a favour, answering Paul, said, `Art thou willing, to Jerusalem having gone up, there concerning these things to be judged before me?`
9 Ond gan fod Ffestus yn awyddus i ennill ffafr yr Iddewon, gofynnodd i Paul, "A wyt ti'n fodlon mynd i fyny i Jerwsalem a chael dy farnu yno ger fy mron i am y pethau hyn?"
10and Paul said, `At the tribunal of Caesar I am standing, where it behoveth me to be judged; to Jews I did no unrighteousness, as thou dost also very well know;
10 Dywedodd Paul, "Yr wyf fi'n sefyll gerbron llys Cesar, lle y dylid fy marnu. Ni throseddais o gwbl yn erbyn yr Iddewon, fel y gwyddost ti yn eithaf da.
11for if indeed I am unrighteous, and anything worthy of death have done, I deprecate not to die; and if there is none of the things of which these accuse me, no one is able to make a favour of me to them; to Caesar I appeal!`
11 Fodd bynnag, os wyf yn droseddwr, ac os wyf wedi gwneud rhywbeth sy'n haeddu marwolaeth, nid wyf yn ceisio osgoi dedfryd marwolaeth. Ond os yw cyhuddiadau'r bobl hyn yn fy erbyn yn ddi-sail, ni all neb fy nhrosglwyddo iddynt fel ffafr. Yr wyf yn apelio at Gesar."
12then Festus, having communed with the council, answered, `To Caesar thou hast appealed; to Caesar thou shalt go.`
12 Yna, wedi iddo drafod y mater 'i gynghorwyr, atebodd Ffestus: "At Gesar yr wyt wedi apelio; at Gesar y cei fynd."
13And certain days having passed, Agrippa the king, and Bernice, came down to Caesarea saluting Festus,
13 Ymhen rhai dyddiau daeth y Brenin Agripa a Bernice i lawr i Gesarea i groesawu Ffestus.
14and as they were continuing there more days, Festus submitted to the king the things concerning Paul, saying, `There is a certain man, left by Felix, a prisoner,
14 A chan eu bod yn treulio dyddiau lawer yno, cyflwynodd Ffestus achos Paul i sylw'r brenin. "Y mae yma ddyn," meddai, "wedi ei adael gan Ffelix yn garcharor,
15about whom, in my being at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews laid information, asking a decision against him,
15 a phan oeddwn yn Jerwsalem gosododd y prif offeiriaid a henuriaid yr Iddewon ei achos ef ger fy mron, a gofyn am ei gondemnio.
16unto whom I answered, that it is not a custom of Romans to make a favour of any man to die, before that he who is accused may have the accusers face to face, and may receive place of defence in regard to the charge laid against [him].
16 Atebais hwy nad oedd yn arfer gan Rufeinwyr drosglwyddo unrhyw un fel ffafr cyn bod y cyhuddedig yn dod wyneb yn wyneb 'i gyhuddwyr, ac yn cael cyfle i'w amddiffyn ei hun yn erbyn y cyhuddiad.
17`They, therefore, having come together — I, making no delay, on the succeeding [day] having sat upon the tribunal, did command the man to be brought,
17 Felly, pan ddaethant ynghyd yma, heb oedi dim cymerais fy lle drannoeth yn y llys, a gorchymyn dod 'r dyn gerbron.
18concerning whom the accusers, having stood up, were bringing against [him] no accusation of the things I was thinking of,
18 Pan gododd ei gyhuddwyr i'w erlyn, nid oeddent yn ei gyhuddo o'r un o'r troseddau a ddisgwyliwn i.
19but certain questions concerning their own religion they had against him, and concerning a certain Jesus who was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive;
19 Ond rhyw ddadleuon oedd ganddynt ag ef ynghylch eu crefydd eu hunain, ac ynghylch rhyw Iesu oedd wedi marw, ond y mynnai Paul ei fod yn fyw.
20and I, doubting in regard to the question concerning this, said, If he would wish to go on to Jerusalem, and there to be judged concerning these things —
20 A chan fy mod mewn penbleth ynglu375?n 'r ddadl ar y pethau hyn, gofynnais iddo a oedd yn dymuno mynd i Jerwsalem, a chael ei farnu amdanynt yno.
21but Paul having appealed to be kept to the hearing of Sebastus, I did command him to be kept till I might send him unto Caesar.`
21 Ond gan i Paul apelio am gael ei gadw dan warchodaeth, i gael dyfarniad gan yr Ymerawdwr, gorchmynnais ei gadw felly nes imi ei anfon at Gesar."
22And Agrippa said unto Festus, `I was wishing also myself to hear the man;` and he said, `To-morrow thou shalt hear him;`
22 Meddai Agripa wrth Ffestus, "Mi hoffwn innau glywed y dyn." Meddai yntau, "Fe gei ei glywed yfory."
23on the morrow, therefore — on the coming of Agrippa and Bernice with much display, and they having entered into the audience chamber, with the chief captains also, and the principal men of the city, and Festus having ordered — Paul was brought forth.
23 Trannoeth, felly, daeth Agripa a Bernice, yn fawr eu rhwysg, a mynd i mewn i'r llys ynghyd chapteiniaid a gwu375?r amlwg y ddinas; ac ar orchymyn Ffestus, daethpwyd Paul gerbron.
24And Festus said, `King Agrippa, and all men who are present with us, ye see this one, about whom all the multitude of the Jews did deal with me, both in Jerusalem and here, crying out, He ought not to live any longer;
24 Ac meddai Ffestus, "Y Brenin Agripa, a chwi oll sydd yma gyda ni, yr ydych yn gweld y dyn hwn, y gwnaeth holl liaws yr Iddewon gais gennyf yn ei gylch, yn Jerwsalem ac yma, gan weiddi na ddylai gael byw ddim mwy.
25and I, having found him to have done nothing worthy of death, and he also himself having appealed to Sebastus, I decided to send him,
25 Ond gwelais i nad oedd wedi gwneud dim yn haeddu marwolaeth; a chan i'r dyn ei hun apelio at yr Ymerawdwr, penderfynais ei anfon ato.
26concerning whom I have no certain thing to write to [my] lord, wherefore I brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, king Agrippa, that the examination having been made, I may have something to write;
26 Ond nid oes gennyf ddim byd pendant i'w ysgrifennu amdano at ein Harglwydd. Gan hynny, yr wyf wedi dod ag ef ymlaen ger eich bron chwi, ac yn enwedig ger dy fron di, y Brenin Agripa, er mwyn gwneud archwiliad, a chael rhywbeth i'w ysgrifennu.
27for it doth seem to me irrational, sending a prisoner, not also to signify the charges against him.`
27 Oherwydd, yn fy marn i, peth afresymol yw anfon carcharor ymlaen heb hyd yn oed egluro'r cyhuddiadau yn ei erbyn."
