¹And Rachel seeth that she hath not borne to Jacob, and Rachel is envious of her sister, and saith unto Jacob, `Give me sons, and if there is none — I die.`

¹ Pan welodd Rachel nad oedd hi yn geni plant i Jacob, cenfigennodd wrth ei chwaer; a dywedodd wrth Jacob, "Rho blant i mi, neu byddaf farw."

²And Jacob`s anger burneth against Rachel, and he saith, `Am I in stead of God who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?`

² Teimlodd Jacob yn ddig wrth Rachel, ac meddai, "A wyf fi yn safle Duw, yr hwn sydd wedi atal ffrwyth dy groth?"

³And she saith, `Lo, my handmaid Bilhah, go in unto her, and she doth bear on my knees, and I am built up, even I, from her;`

³ Dywedodd hithau, "Dyma fy morwyn Bilha; dos i gael cyfathrach � hi er mwyn iddi ddwyn plant ar fy ngliniau, ac i minnau gael teulu ohoni."

⁴and she giveth to him Bilhah her maid-servant for a wife, and Jacob goeth in unto her;

⁴ Felly rhoddodd ei morwyn Bilha yn wraig iddo; a chafodd Jacob gyfathrach � hi.

⁵and Bilhah conceiveth, and beareth to Jacob a son,

⁵ Beichiogodd Bilha ac esgor ar fab i Jacob.

⁶and Rachel saith, `God hath decided for me, and also hath hearkened to my voice, and giveth to me a son;` therefore hath she called his name Dan.

⁶ Yna dywedodd Rachel, "Y mae Duw wedi fy marnu; y mae hefyd wedi gwrando arnaf a rhoi imi fab." Am hynny galwodd ef Dan.

⁷And Bilhah, Rachel`s maid-servant, conceiveth again, and beareth a second son to Jacob,

⁷ Beichiogodd Bilha morwyn Rachel eilwaith, ac esgor ar ail fab i Jacob.

⁸and Rachel saith, `With wrestlings of God I have wrestled with my sister, yea, I have prevailed;` and she calleth his name Napthali.

⁸ Yna dywedodd Rachel, "Yr wyf wedi ymdrechu'n galed yn erbyn fy chwaer, a llwyddo." Felly galwodd ef Nafftali.

⁹And Leah seeth that she hath ceased from bearing, and she taketh Zilpah her maid-servant, and giveth her to Jacob for a wife;

⁹ Pan welodd Lea ei bod wedi peidio � geni plant, cymerodd ei morwyn Silpa a'i rhoi'n wraig i Jacob.

¹⁰and Zilpah, Leah`s maid-servant, beareth to Jacob a son,

¹⁰ Yna esgorodd Silpa morwyn Lea ar fab i Jacob,

¹¹and Leah saith, `A troop is coming;` and she calleth his name Gad.

¹¹ a dywedodd Lea, "Ffawd dda." Felly galwodd ef Gad.

¹²And Zilpah, Leah`s maid-servant, beareth a second son to Jacob,

¹² Esgorodd Silpa morwyn Lea ar ail fab i Jacob,

¹³and Leah saith, `Because of my happiness, for daughters have pronounced me happy;` and she calleth his name Asher.

¹³ a dywedodd Lea, "Dedwydd wyf! Bydd y merched yn fy ngalw yn ddedwydd." Felly galwodd ef Aser.

¹⁴And Reuben goeth in the days of wheat-harvest, and findeth love-apples in the field, and bringeth them in unto Leah, his mother, and Rachel saith unto Leah, `Give to me, I pray thee, of the love-apples of thy son.`

¹⁴ Yn nyddiau'r cynhaeaf gwenith aeth Reuben allan a chael mandragorau yn y maes, a'u rhoi i Lea ei fam. Yna dywedodd Rachel wrth Lea, "Rho imi rai o fandragorau dy fab."

¹⁵And she saith to her, `Is thy taking my husband a little thing, that thou hast taken also the love-apples of my son?` and Rachel saith, `Therefore doth he lie with thee to-night, for thy son`s love-apples.`

¹⁵ Ond dywedodd hithau wrthi, "Ai peth dibwys yw dy fod wedi cymryd fy ngu373?r? A wyt hefyd am gymryd mandragorau fy mab?" Dywedodd Rachel, "o'r gorau, caiff Jacob gysgu gyda thi heno yn d�l am fandragorau dy fab."

¹⁶And Jacob cometh in from the field at evening; and Leah goeth to meet him, and saith, `Unto me dost thou come in, for hiring I have hired thee with my son`s love-apples;` and he lieth with her during that night.

¹⁶ Pan oedd Jacob yn dod o'r maes gyda'r nos, aeth Lea i'w gyfarfod a dweud, "Gyda mi yr wyt i gysgu, oherwydd yr wyf wedi talu am dy gael � mandragorau fy mab." Felly cysgodd gyda hi y noson honno.

¹⁷And God hearkeneth unto Leah, and she conceiveth, and beareth to Jacob a son, a fifth,

¹⁷ A gwrandawodd Duw ar Lea, a beichiogodd ac esgor ar y pumed mab i Jacob.

¹⁸and Leah saith, `God hath given my hire, because I have given my maid-servant to my husband;` and she calleth his name Issachar.

¹⁸ Dywedodd Lea, "Y mae Duw wedi rhoi fy nh�l am imi roi fy morwyn i'm gu373?r." Felly galwodd ef Issachar.

¹⁹And conceive again doth Leah, and she beareth a sixth son to Jacob,

¹⁹ Beichiogodd Lea eto, ac esgor ar y chweched mab i Jacob.

²⁰and Leah saith, `God hath endowed me — a good dowry; this time doth my husband dwell with me, for I have borne to him six sons;` and she calleth his name Zebulun;

²⁰ Yna dywedodd Lea, "Y mae Duw wedi rhoi imi waddol da; yn awr, bydd fy ngu373?r yn fy mharchu, am imi esgor ar chwech o feibion iddo." Felly galwodd ef Sabulon.

²¹and afterwards hath she born a daughter, and calleth her name Dinah.

²¹ Wedi hynny esgorodd ar ferch, a galwodd hi Dina.

²²And God remembereth Rachel, and God hearkeneth unto her, and openeth her womb,

²² A chofiodd Duw Rachel, a gwrandawodd arni ac agor ei chroth.

²³and she conceiveth and beareth a son, and saith, `God hath gathered up my reproach;`

²³ Beichiogodd hithau ac esgor ar fab, a dywedodd, "Y mae Duw wedi tynnu ymaith fy ngwarth."

²⁴and she calleth his name Joseph, saying, `Jehovah is adding to me another son.`

²⁴ A galwodd ef Joseff, gan ddweud, "Bydded i'r ARGLWYDD ychwanegu i mi fab arall."

²⁵And it cometh to pass, when Rachel hath borne Joseph, that Jacob saith unto Laban, `Send me away, and I go unto my place, and to my land;

²⁵ Wedi i Rachel esgor ar Joseff, dywedodd Jacob wrth Laban, "Gad imi ymadael, er mwyn imi fynd i'm cartref fy hun ac i'm gwlad.

²⁶give up my wives and my children, for whom I have served thee, and I go; for thou — thou hast known my service which I have served thee.`

²⁶ Rho imi fy ngwragedd a'm plant yr wyf wedi gweithio amdanynt, a gad imi fynd; oherwydd gwyddost fel yr wyf wedi gweithio iti."

²⁷And Laban saith unto him, `If, I pray thee, I have found grace in thine eyes — I have observed diligently that Jehovah doth bless me for thy sake.`

²⁷ Ond dywedodd Laban wrtho, "Os caf ddweud, yr wyf wedi dod i weld mai o'th achos di y mae'r ARGLWYDD wedi fy mendithio i;

²⁸He saith also, `Define thy hire to me, and I give.`

²⁸ noda dy gyflog, ac fe'i talaf."

²⁹And he saith unto him, `Thou — thou hast known that which I have served thee [in], and that which thy substance was with me;

²⁹ Atebodd yntau, "Gwyddost sut yr wyf wedi gweithio iti, a sut y bu ar dy anifeiliaid gyda mi;

³⁰for [it is] little which thou hast had at my appearance, and it breaketh forth into a multitude, and Jehovah blesseth thee at my coming; and now, when do I make, I also, for mine own house?`

³⁰ ychydig oedd gennyt cyn i mi ddod, ond cynyddodd yn helaeth, a ben-dithiodd yr ARGLWYDD di bob cam. Yn awr, onid yw'n bryd i mi ddarparu ar gyfer fy nheulu fy hun?"

³¹And he saith, `What do I give to thee?` And Jacob saith, `Thou dost not give me anything; if thou do for me this thing, I turn back; I have delight; thy flock I watch;

³¹ Dywedodd Laban, "Beth a rof i ti?" Atebodd Jacob, "Nid wyt i roi dim i mi. Ond fe fugeiliaf dy braidd eto a'u gwylio, os gwnei hyn imi:

³²I pass through all thy flock to-day to turn aside from thence every sheep speckled and spotted, and every brown sheep among the lambs, and speckled and spotted among the goats — and it hath been my hire;

³² gad imi fynd heddiw trwy dy holl braidd a didoli pob dafad frith a broc a phob oen du, a'r geifr brith a broc; a'r rhain fydd fy nghyflog.

³³and my righteousness hath answered for me in the day to come, when it cometh in for my hire before thy face; — every one which is not speckled and spotted among [my] goats, and brown among [my] lambs — it is stolen with me.`

³³ A chei dystiolaeth i'm gonestrwydd yn y dyfodol pan ddoi i weld fy nghyflog. Pob un o'r geifr nad yw'n frith a broc, ac o'r u373?yn nad yw'n ddu, bydd hwnnw wedi ei ladrata gennyf."

³⁴And Laban saith, `Lo, O that it were according to thy word;`

³⁴ "o'r gorau," meddai Laban, "bydded yn �l dy air."

³⁵and he turneth aside during that day the ring-straked and the spotted he-goats, and all the speckled and the spotted she-goats, every one that [hath] white in it, and every brown one among the lambs, and he giveth into the hand of his sons,

³⁵ Ond y diwrnod hwnnw didolodd Laban y bychod brith a broc, a'r holl eifr brith a broc, pob un � gwyn arno, a phob oen du, a'u rhoi yng ngofal ei feibion,

³⁶and setteth a journey of three days between himself and Jacob; and Jacob is feeding the rest of the flock of Laban.

³⁶ a'u gosod bellter taith tridiau oddi wrth Jacob; a bugeiliodd Jacob y gweddill o braidd Laban.

³⁷And Jacob taketh to himself a rod of fresh poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut, and doth peel in them white peelings, making bare the white that [is] on the rods,

³⁷ Yna cymerodd Jacob wiail gleision o boplys ac almon a ffawydd, a thynnu oddi arnynt ddarnau o'r rhisgl, gan ddangos gwyn ar y gwiail.

³⁸and setteth up the rods which he hath peeled in the gutters in the watering troughs (when the flock cometh in to drink), over-against the flock, that they may conceive in their coming in to drink;

³⁸ Gosododd y gwiail yr oedd wedi eu rhisglo yn y ffosydd o flaen y praidd, wrth y cafnau du373?r lle byddai'r praidd yn dod i yfed. Gan eu bod yn beichiogi pan fyddent yn dod i yfed,

³⁹and the flocks conceive at the rods, and the flock beareth ring-straked, speckled, and spotted ones.

³⁹ beichiogodd y praidd gyferbyn �'r gwiail, a bwrw u373?yn wedi eu marcio'n frith a broc.

⁴⁰And the lambs hath Jacob parted, and he putteth the face of the flock towards the ring-straked, also all the brown in the flock of Laban, and he setteth his own droves by themselves, and hath not set them near Laban`s flock.

⁴⁰ Byddai Jacob yn didol yr u373?yn, ond yn troi wynebau'r defaid tuag at y rhai brith a'r holl rai duon ymysg praidd Laban; gosodai ei braidd ei hun ar wah�n, heb fod gyda phraidd Laban.

⁴¹And it hath come to pass whenever the strong ones of the flock conceive, that Jacob set the rods before the eyes of the flock in the gutters, to cause them to conceive by the rods,

⁴¹ Bob tro yr oedd y defaid cryfaf yn beichiogi, yr oedd Jacob yn gosod y gwiail yn y ffosydd gyferbyn �'r praidd, er mwyn iddynt feichiogi o flaen y gwiail,

⁴²and when the flock is feeble, he doth not set [them]; and the feeble ones have been Laban`s, and the strong ones Jacob`s.

⁴² ond nid oedd yn eu gosod ar gyfer defaid gwan y praidd; felly daeth y gwannaf yn eiddo Laban, a'r cryfaf yn eiddo Jacob.

⁴³And the man increaseth very exceedingly, and hath many flocks, and maid-servants, and men-servants, and camels, and asses.

⁴³ Fel hyn cynyddodd ei gyfoeth ef yn fawr, ac yr oedd ganddo breiddiau niferus, morynion a gweision, camelod ac asynnod.
