¹And Jehovah saith unto me: Though Moses and Samuel should stand before Me, My soul is not toward this people, Send from before My face, and they go out.

¹Ja Issand ütles mulle: Isegi kui Mooses ja Saamuel seisaksid minu ees, ei oleks mu hing siiski mitte selle rahva poolt. Aja nad minu eest, et nad läheksid ära.

²And it hath come to pass, when they say to thee, Whither do we go out? that thou hast said unto them, Thus said Jehovah: Those who [are] for death — to death, And those who are for the sword, to the sword, And those who are for famine, to famine, And those who are for captivity, to captivity.

²Ja kui nad sinult küsivad: 'Kuhu me peame minema?', siis vasta neile: Issand ütleb nõnda: Kes surma, see surma, kes mõõga ette, see mõõga ette, kes nälja kätte, see nälja kätte, kes vangi, see vangi.

³And I have appointed over them four kinds, an affirmation of Jehovah, The sword to slay, and the dogs to drag, And the fowl of the heavens, And the beast of the earth, to consume and to devour.

³Ja ma panen neile peale nelja liiki nuhtlusi, ütleb Issand: mõõga tapma, koerad lohistama, taeva linnud ja maa loomad sööma ja hävitama.

⁴And I have given them for a trembling To all kingdoms of the earth, Because of Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah, For that which he did in Jerusalem.

⁴Ja ma panen nad hirmutuseks kõigile kuningriikidele maa peal Juuda kuninga Manasse, Hiskija poja pärast, selle pärast, mis ta Jeruusalemmas tegi.

⁵For who hath pity on thee, O Jerusalem? And who doth bemoan for thee? And who turneth aside to ask of thy welfare?

⁶Thou — thou hast left Me — an affirmation of Jehovah, Backward thou goest, And I stretch out My hand against thee, And I destroy thee, I have been weary of repenting,

⁶Sina oled mu hüljanud, ütleb Issand, ja oled taganenud; seepärast ma sirutan oma käe su vastu ja hävitan sinu, ma olen tüdinud järele andmast.

⁷And I scatter them with a fan, in the gates the land, I bereaved, I have destroyed My people, From their ways they turned not back.

⁷Mina viskan neid visklabidaga maa väravais; mina teen lastetuks, mina hukkan oma rahva, kui nad ei pöördu oma teedelt.

⁸Its widows have been more to Me than the sand of the seas, I brought in to them — against the mother — A young man — a spoiler — at noon. I caused to fall upon her suddenly, wrath and trouble.

⁸Mul on siis nende lesknaisi rohkem kui liiva mere ääres; mina toon noorukite ema kallale päise päeva ajal rüüstaja, paiskan äkitselt ta peale ärevust ja hirmu.

⁹Languished hath the bearer of seven, She hath breathed out her spirit, Gone in hath her sun while yet day, It hath been ashamed and confounded, And their residue to the sword I give up before their enemies, An affirmation of Jehovah.

⁹See, kes sünnitas seitse, närbub, vaagub hinge; tema päike loojub, kui alles on päev, ta häbeneb ja jääb häbisse. Ja mis neist üle jääb, selle ma annan mõõga kätte, nende vaenlaste ees, ütleb Issand.

¹⁰Wo to me, my mother, For thou hast borne me a man of strife, And a man of contention to all the land, I have not lent on usury, Nor have they lent on usury to me — All of them are reviling me.

¹⁰'Häda mulle, ema, et sa sünnitasid minu, riiaka ja tülika mehe kogu maale! Ei ole ma võlausaldaja ega võlgnik, ometi sajatavad mind kõik.

¹¹Jehovah said, Did I not direct thee for good? Did not I intercede for thee in a time of evil, And in a time of adversity, with the enemy?

¹¹Issand ütles: Küll ma vabastan su hea jaoks, küll ma panen vaenlase anuma sind õnnetuse ajal ja häda ajal.'

¹²Doth one break iron — northern iron, and brass?

¹²'Kas murdub raud, põhjamaine raud ja vask?

¹³Thy strength and thy treasures For a prey I do give — not for price, Even for all thy sins, and in all thy borders.

¹³Sinu varanduse ja tagavarad annan ma ilma hinnata saagiks kõigi su pattude pärast ja kõigis su paigus.

¹⁴And I have caused thine enemies To pass over into the land — Thou hast not known, For a fire hath been kindled in Mine anger, Against you it doth burn.

¹⁴Ma panen sind teenima su vaenlasi maal, mida sa ei tunne, sest mu vihatuli on süttinud - see põleb teie kohal.'

¹⁵Thou, Thou hast known, O Jehovah, Remember me, and inspect me, And take vengeance for me of my pursuers, In Thy long-suffering take me not away, Know — I have borne for Thee reproach.

¹⁵'Sina tead seda. Issand, pea mind meeles ja kanna hoolt minu eest, tasu kätte minu eest mu tagakiusajaile! Oma suures kannatlikkuses ära võta mind ära, mõtle, et ma sinu pärast kannan teotust!

¹⁶Thy words have been found, and I eat them, And Thy word is to me for a joy, And for the rejoicing of my heart, For Thy name is called on me, O Jehovah, God of Hosts.

¹⁶Kui leidus su sõnu, siis ma neelasin neid ja su sõna oli mulle lustiks ja südamerõõmuks, sest mulle on pandud sinu nimi, Issand, vägede Jumal.

¹⁷I have not sat in an assembly of deriders, Nor do I exult, because of thy hand, — Alone I have sat, For [with] indignation Thou hast filled me.

¹⁷Ei ole ma istunud naerjate killas ega ole ma ilutsenud; sinu käe pärast olen ma istunud üksinda, sest sa oled mu täitnud oma sajatusega.

¹⁸Why hath my pain been perpetual? And my wound incurable? It hath refused to be healed, Thou art surely to me as a failing stream, Waters not stedfast.

¹⁸Mispärast on mu valu nii püsiv ja mu haav ravimatu? See ei taha paraneda. Oh häda! Sa oled mulle nagu kahanev oja, nagu vesi, mis ei jää püsima.'

¹⁹Therefore, thus said Jehovah: If thou turnest back, then I bring thee back, Before Me thou dost stand, And if thou bringest out the precious from the vile, As My mouth thou art! They — they turn back unto thee, And thou dost not turn back unto them.

¹⁹Selle peale ütleb Issand nõnda: 'Kui sa pöördud, siis ma lasen sind jälle seista mu palge ees. Ja kui sa lahutad väärtusliku tühisest, siis sa oled otsekui minu suu. Nemad pöörduvad siis sinu poole, aga sina ei pöördu nende poole.

²⁰And I have made thee to this people For a wall — brazen — fenced, And they have fought against thee, And they do not prevail against thee, For with thee [am] I to save thee, And to deliver thee — an affirmation of Jehovah,

²⁰Ja mina teen sind kindlaks vaskmüüriks selle rahva vastu; kui nad võitlevad sinu vastu, siis nad ei võida sind, sest mina olen sinuga, et sind aidata ja päästa, ütleb Issand.

²¹And I have delivered thee from the hand of evil doers, And I have ransomed thee From the hand of the terrible!

²¹Ja ma päästan sind kurjade käest ning lunastan vägivallavalitsejate pihust.'
