¹Whoredom is actually heard of among you, and such whoredom as is not even named among the nations — as that one hath the wife of the father! —

¹લોકો ખરેખર આમ બોલી રહ્યા છે કે તમારામાં વ્યભિચારનું પાપ છે. અને વ્યભિચારનું એક એવા ખરાબ પ્રકારનું પાપકર્મ છે કે જે લોકો દેવને જાણતા નથી તેવા લોકોમાં પણ વ્યાપ્ત નથી. લોકો આમ કહે છે કે પેલા માણસ સાથે તેના પિતાની પત્ની છે.

²and ye are having been puffed up, and did not rather mourn, that he may be removed out of the midst of you who did this work,

²અને હજુ પણ તમે તમારી જાત માટે ગૌરવ અનુભવો છો! તમારે તો ઉદાસીથી ઘેરાઈ જવું જોઈતું હતું. અને પેલો માણસ કે જેણે આવું કામ કર્યુ તેનો તમારા જૂથમાંથી બહિષ્કાર કરવો જોઈતો હતો.

³for I indeed, as being absent as to the body, and present as to the spirit, have already judged, as being present, him who so wrought this thing:

³મારું શરીર ત્યાં તમારી સાથે નથી, પરંતુ આત્મા સ્વરૂપે હું તમારી સાથે જ છું અને જે માણસે આવું પાપ કર્યુ છે તેનો મેં ક્યારનો ય ન્યાય કર્યો છે. હું ત્યાં હાજર હોત અને મે તેનો જે ન્યાય કર્યો હોત તે જ પ્રમાણે મેં તેના ન્યાય કર્યો છે.

⁴in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ — ye being gathered together, also my spirit — with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁴આપણા પ્રભુ ઈસુના નામથી એકઠા થાવ. હું તમારી સાથે આત્મા સ્વરૂપે હોઈશ, અને તમારી સાથે આપણા પ્રભુ ઈસુનું સાર્મથ્ય હશે.

⁵to deliver up such a one to the Adversary for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

⁵તો પછી આ માણસને શેતાનને સોંપી દો, જેથી તેની પાપયુક્ત જાતનો વિનાશ થાય. પછી તેના આત્માનું પ્રભુના દિવસે તારણ થઈ શકે.

⁶Not good [is] your glorying; have ye not known that a little leaven the whole lump doth leaven?

⁶તમે અભિમાન રાખો છે તે સારું નથી. તમે આ કહેવત જાણો છો, “થોડુ ખમીર આખા લોંદાને ફુલાવે છે.”

⁷cleanse out, therefore, the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, according as ye are unleavened, for also our passover for us was sacrificed — Christ,

⁷તમામ જૂના ખમીરને બહાર કાઢી લો, જેથી કરીને તમે તદન નવા જ લોંદારૂપ બની જાવ. તમે ખરેખર પાસ્ખા ભોજનની બેખમીર રોટલી છો. હા, ખ્રિસ્ત આપણાં પાસ્ખાયજ્ઞ ને ક્યારનો ય મારી નાખવામાં આવ્યો છે.

⁸so that we may keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with unleavened food of sincerity and truth.

⁸તો ચાલો આપણે આપણું પાસ્ખા ભોજન આરોગીએ, પણ જૂના ખમીરવાળી રોટલીથી નહિ. તે જૂની રોટલી તો પાપની અને અપકૃત્યોની રોટલી છે. પરંતુ જે રોટલીમાં ખમીર નથી એવી રોટલી આપણે આરોગીએ. આ તો સજજનતા અને સત્યની રોટલી છે.

⁹I did write to you in the epistle, not to keep company with whoremongers —

⁹મેં તમને મારા પત્રમાં લખેલું કે જે લોકો વ્યભિચારનું પાપ કરતાં હોય તેવા લોકો સાથે તમારી જાતને સંડોવશો નહિ.

¹⁰and not certainly with the whoremongers of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, seeing ye ought then to go forth out of the world —

¹⁰પરંતુ મારો એવો મતલબ ન હતો કે તમારે જગતના પાપીઓ સાથે સંપર્ક ન રાખવો. જગતના તે લોકો વ્યભિચારનું પાપ તો કરે જ છે, અથવા તો તેઓ સ્વાર્થી છે અને એકમેકને છેતરે છે, અથવા તો મૂર્તિઓની ઉપાસના કરે છે. તે લોકોથી દૂર રહેવા માટે તમારે આ જગત છોડી જવું પડે.

¹¹and now, I did write to you not to keep company with [him], if any one, being named a brother, may be a whoremonger, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner — with such a one not even to eat together;

¹¹હું તમને તે જણાવવા લખી રહ્યો છું કે તે વ્યક્તિની સાથે તમારે સંકળાવું નહિ જે પોતાને ખ્રિસ્તમાં ભાઈ કહેવડાવે પરંતુ વ્યભિચારનું પાપ કરે, અથવા સ્વાર્થી હોય, અથવા મૂર્તિની ઉપાસના કરે, અથવા લોકો સાથે ખરાબ વાણી ઉચ્ચારે, અથવા છાકટો હોય, અથવા લોકોને છેતરે. આવી વ્યક્તિ સાથે તો ભોજન પણ કરશો નહિ.
