¹And concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need of my writing to you,

¹હવે, ભાઈઓ અને બહેનો, અમારે તમને સમય અને તારીખો વિષે લખવાની જરુંર નથી.

²for yourselves have known thoroughly that the day of the Lord as a thief in the night doth so come,

²તમે સારી રીતે જાણો છે કે એ દિવસ કે જ્યારે પ્રભુ આવશે ત્યારે એક ચોર રાતે આવે છે તે રીતે તે આવશે.

³for when they may say, Peace and surety, then sudden destruction doth stand by them, as the travail [doth] her who is with child, and they shall not escape;

³લોકો કહેશે કે, “અમને શાંતિ છે અને અમે સુરક્ષિત છીએ.” તે સમયે પ્રસૂતાની પીડાની જેમ એકાએક તેઓનો વિનાશ આવી જશે. અને તે લોકો બચી શકશે નહિ.

⁴and ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day may catch you as a thief;

⁴પરંતુ તમે, ભાઈઓ અને બહેનો, તમારે અંધકારમાં (પાપ) જીવન જીવવું ના જોઈએ. અને તે દિવસ ચોરની જેમ તમારા પર આવી પડે તો તમે આશ્ચર્ય પામશો નહિ.

⁵all ye are sons of light, and sons of day; we are not of night, nor of darkness,

⁵તમે બધા અજવાળાના (સારાં) સંતાન છો. તમે દહાડાના સંતાન છો. આપણે રાતના કે અંધકારના (શેતાન) સંતાન નથી.

⁶so, then, we may not sleep as also the others, but watch and be sober,

⁶તેથી આપણે અન્ય લોકો જેવા ન બનવું જોઈએ. આપણે ઊંધી ન રહેવું જોઈએ. આપણે જાગ્રત અને સ્વ-નિયંત્રણમાં રહેવું જોઈએ.

⁷for those sleeping, by night do sleep, and those making themselves drunk, by night are drunken,

⁷જે લોકો ઊંધે છે, તે રાતે ઊંધે છે. જે લોકો મદ્યપાનથી ચકચૂર બને છે, તે રાત્રે મદ્યપાનથી ચકચૂર બને છે.

⁸and we, being of the day — let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and an helmet — a hope of salvation,

⁸પરંતુ આપણે તો દિવસ (સારાપણું) સાથે જોડાયેલા છીએ, તેથી આપણે આપણી જાતને નિયંત્રણમાં રાખવી જોઈએ. આપણે આપણી જાતનું રક્ષણ કરવા વિશ્વાસ, અને પ્રેમનું બખતર પહેરવું જોઈએ. અને તારણની આશાનો ટોપ પહેરીને સાવધ રહીએ.

⁹because God did not appoint us to anger, but to the acquiring of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁹[This verse may not be a part of this translation]

¹⁰who did die for us, that whether we wake — whether we sleep — together with him we may live;

¹⁰આપણે તેની સંઘાતે જીવી શકીએ તેથી ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્ત આપણા માટે મરણ પામ્યો. જ્યારે ઈસુનું આગમન થાય ત્યારે આપણે જીવિત હોઈએ કે મૃત તેનું કોઈ મહત્વ નથી.

¹¹wherefore, comfort ye one another, and build ye up, one the one, as also ye do.

¹¹તેથી એકબીજાને હિંમત આપીએ. અને દૃઢ બનવા માટે એકબીજાને મદદ કરીએ.

¹²And we ask you, brethren, to know those labouring among you, and leading you in the Lord, and admonishing you,

¹²હવે ભાઈઓ અને બહેનો, અમે તમને જે લોકો તમારામાં પરિશ્રમ કરે છે અને પ્રભુમાં તમારા આગેવાનો છે અને તમને સૂચનો કરે છે તેઓનો તમે આદર કરો એમ અમે ઈચ્છીએ છીએ.

¹³and to esteem them very abundantly in love, because of their work; be at peace among yourselves;

¹³તેઓ જે કાર્ય કરી રહ્યાં છે તેને ખાતર તેઓના તરફ પ્રેમ સાથે વધારે આદર દર્શાવો.

¹⁴and we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the infirm, be patient unto all;

¹⁴ભાઈઓ અને બહેનો, અમે તમને જે કહીએ છીએ તે જે કાર્ય કરતાં નથી તેઓને ચેતવણી આપો. જે લોકો બીકણો છે તેઓને ઉત્તેજન આપો. જે લોકો નિર્બળ છે તેઓને મદદ કરો. દરેક વ્યક્તિ સાથે ધીરજપૂર્વક વર્તો.

¹⁵see no one evil for evil may render to any one, but always that which is good pursue ye, both to one another and to all;

¹⁵એ બાબતે નિશ્ચિત બનો કે કોઈ પણ વ્યક્તિ ભૂંડાઈનો બદલો ભૂંડાઈથી ન વાળે. પરંતુ તમારા એકબીજાને માટે જે સારું છે તે કરવા હમેશા પ્રયત્ન કરો.

¹⁶always rejoice ye;

¹⁶સદા આનંદ કરો.

¹⁷continually pray ye;

¹⁷પ્રાર્થના કરવાનું કદી પડતું મૂકશો નહિ.

¹⁸in every thing give thanks, for this [is] the will of God in Christ Jesus in regard to you.

¹⁸દરેક સમયે દેવની આભારસ્તુતિ કરો કેમ કે તમારા વિષે ખ્રિસ્ત ઈસુમાં દેવની મરજી એવી છે.

¹⁹The Spirit quench not;

¹⁹પવિત્ર આત્માનું કાર્ય કદાપિ અટકાવશો નહિ.

²⁰prophesyings despise not;

²⁰પ્રબોધને કદાપિ બિનમહત્વપૂર્ણ ન ગણશો.

²¹all things prove; that which is good hold fast;

²¹પરંતુ દરેક વસ્તુની પરખ કરો. જે સારું છે તેને ગ્રહણ કરો.

²²from all appearance of evil abstain ye;

²²અને સર્વ પ્રકારની દુષ્ટતાથી દૂર રહો.

²³and the God of the peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your whole spirit, and soul, and body, be preserved unblameably in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ;

²³અમે પ્રાર્થીએ છીએ કે દેવ પોતે જ, શાંતિદાતા તમને પૂરા પવિત્ર કરો; અને તેને જ પૂર્ણ આધિન બનાવે. અમે પ્રાર્થીએ છીએ કે તમારી સંપૂર્ણ જાત-આત્મા, પ્રાણ અને શરીર-સુરક્ષિત અને નિર્દોષ બની રહે જ્યારે પ્રભુ ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તનું આગમન થાય.

²⁴stedfast is He who is calling you, who also will do [it].

²⁴તે એક (દેવ) કે જે તમને બોલાવે છે અને તે જ તમારે માટે એમ કરશે. તમે તેના પર વિશ્વાસ કરો.

²⁵Brethren, pray for us;

²⁵ભાઈઓ અને બહેનો, કૃપા કરીને અમારા માટે પ્રાર્થના કરો.

²⁶salute all the brethren in an holy kiss;

²⁶જ્યારે તમે મળો ત્યારે સર્વ ભાઈઓ અને બહેનોને પવિત્ર ચુંબન કરજો.

²⁷I charge you [by] the Lord, that the letter be read to all the holy brethren;

²⁷પ્રભુના અધિકાર વડે હું તમને કહું છુ કે આ પત્ર દરેક ભાઈઓ અને બહેનોને વાંચી સંભળાવજો.

²⁸the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [is] with you! Amen.

²⁸આપણા પ્રભુ ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તની કૃપા તમારા પર થાઓ.
