¹My son, if thou dost accept my sayings, And my commands dost lay up with thee,

²To cause thine ear to attend to wisdom, Thou inclinest thy heart to understanding,

²Ka atongilanao amin'ny fahendrena ny sofinao, Ary ampitandremanao fahalalana ny fonao;

³For, if for intelligence thou callest, For understanding givest forth thy voice,

³Eny, raha miantso ny fahalalana ianao Ary manandratra ny feonao hahazo saina,

⁴If thou dost seek her as silver, And as hid treasures searchest for her,

⁴Raha mitady azy toy ny fitady volafotsy ianao Ary mikatsaka azy toy ny fikatsaka harena afenina:

⁵Then understandest thou fear of Jehovah, And knowledge of God thou findest.

⁵Dia ho fantatrao marina ny fahatahorana an'i Jehovah, Ary ho hitanao ny fahalalana an'Andriamanitra.

⁶For Jehovah giveth wisdom, From His mouth knowledge and understanding.

⁶Fa Jehovah no manome fahendrena; Avy amin'ny vavany no ihavian'ny fahalalana sy ny fahazavan-tsaina.

⁷Even to lay up for the upright substance, A shield for those walking uprightly.

⁷Izy mitahiry fanambinanaho an'ny mahitsy Sady ampingan'izay mandeha tsy misy tsiny;[Na: tena fahendrena]

⁸To keep the paths of judgment, And the way of His saints He preserveth.

⁸Ka dia mitandrina ny lalan'ny fahamarinana Izy Ary miambina ny lalan'ny olony masina.

⁹Then understandest thou righteousness, And judgment, and uprightness — every good path.

⁹Ary amin'izay dia ho fantatrao ny fahamarinana sy ny rariny Ary ny hitsiny, dia ny lalana tsara rehetra.

¹⁰For wisdom cometh into thy heart, And knowledge to thy soul is pleasant,

¹⁰Raha latsaka ao am-ponao ny fahendrena, Ary mamin'ny fanahinao ny fahalalana,[Na: Fa ho tafiditra ao am-ponao ny fahendrena, Ka ho]

¹¹Thoughtfulness doth watch over thee, Understanding doth keep thee,

¹¹Dia hiaro anao ny fisainana mazava, Ary hiambina anao ny fahalalana,

¹²To deliver thee from an evil way, From any speaking froward things,

¹²Ka hamonjy anao amin'ny lalan-dratsy Sy amin'ny lehilahy izay miteny fitaka,

¹³Who are forsaking paths of uprightness, To walk in ways of darkness,

¹³Izay mahafoy ny lalan'ny fahamarinana Mba hizorany amin'ny lalan'ny fahamaizinana,

¹⁴Who are rejoicing to do evil, They delight in frowardness of the wicked,

¹⁴Dia izay faly hanao ratsy Sy finaritra amin'ny fitaky ny ratsy,

¹⁵Whose paths [are] crooked, Yea, they are perverted in their ways.

¹⁵Dia izay melo-dalana Sy maniasia amin'ny alehany;

¹⁶To deliver thee from the strange woman, From the stranger who hath made smooth her sayings,

¹⁶Ary hamonjy anao amin'ny vehivavy jejo koa izany, Dia amin'ny vahiny janga izay mandrobo amin'ny teniny,[Heb. vehivavy tsy vadinao]

¹⁷Who is forsaking the guide of her youth, And the covenant of her God hath forgotten.

¹⁷Izay mahafoy ny vadin'ny fahatanorany Sy manadino ny fanekeny teo amin'Andriamaniny.[Heb. sakaizan']

¹⁸For her house hath inclined unto death, And unto Rephaim her paths.

¹⁸Fa ny tranony milentika ho amin'ny fahafatesana, Ary ny alehany mankany amin'ny maty.

¹⁹None going in unto her turn back, Nor do they reach the paths of life.

¹⁹Tsy misy afa-miverina izay mankany aminy, Na mihazo amin'ny lalan'aina,

²⁰That thou dost go in the way of the good, And the paths of the righteous dost keep.

²⁰Handehananao amin'ny lalan'ny tsara fanahy Sy hitandremanao ny alehan'ny marina.

²¹For the upright do inhabit the earth, And the perfect are left in it,

²¹Fa ny olona mahitsy no honina amin'ny tany, Ary ny tsy manan-tsiny ihany no ho sisa mitoetra ao;Fa ny ratsy fanahy kosa hofongorana amin'ny tany, Ary ny mpivadika hongotana.

²²And the wicked from the earth are cut off, And treacherous dealers plucked out of it!
