1And Ahab declareth to Jezebel all that Elijah did, and all how he slew all the prophets by the sword,
1ഏലീയാവു ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവന് സകല പ്രവാചകന്മാരെയും വാള്കൊണ്ടു കൊന്ന വിവരമൊക്കെയും ആഹാബ് ഈസേബെലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
2and Jezebel sendeth a messenger unto Elijah, saying, `Thus doth the gods, and thus do they add, surely about this time to-morrow, I make thy life as the life of one of them.`
2ഈസേബെല് ഏലീയാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഒരു ദൂതനെ അയച്ചുനാളെ ഈ നേരത്തു ഞാന് നിന്റെ ജീവനെ അവരില് ഒരുത്തന്റെ ജീവനെപ്പോലെ ആക്കുന്നില്ല എങ്കില് ദേവന്മാര് എന്നോടു തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.
3And he feareth, and riseth, and goeth for his life, and cometh in to Beer-Sheba, that [is] Judah`s, and leaveth his young man there,
3അവന് ഭയപ്പെട്ടു എഴുന്നേറ്റു ജീവരക്ഷെക്കായി പുറപ്പെട്ടു യെഹൂദെക്കുള്പ്പെട്ട ബേര്-ശേബയില് ചെന്നു അവിടെ തന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരനെ താമസിപ്പിച്ചു.
4and he himself hath gone into the wilderness a day`s Journey, and cometh and sitteth under a certain retem-tree, and desireth his soul to die, and saith, `Enough, now, O Jehovah, take my soul, for I [am] not better than my fathers.`
4താനോ മരുഭൂമിയില് ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ വഴി ചെന്നു ഒരു ചൂരച്ചെടിയുടെ തണലില് ഇരുന്നു മരിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചു; ഇപ്പോള് മതി, യഹോവേ, എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ എടുത്തുകൊള്ളേണമേ; ഞാന് എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെക്കാള് നല്ലവനല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
5And he lieth down and sleepeth under a certain retem-tree, and lo, a messenger cometh against him, and saith to him, `Rise, eat;`
5അങ്ങനെ അവന് ചൂരച്ചെടിയുടെ തണലില് കിടന്നുറങ്ങുമ്പോള് പെട്ടെന്നു ഒരു ദൂതന് അവനെ തട്ടി അവനോടുഎഴുന്നേറ്റു തിന്നുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
6and he looketh attentively, and lo, at his bolster a cake [baken on] burning stones, and a dish of water, and he eateth, and drinketh, and turneth, and lieth down.
6അവന് ഉണര്ന്നു നോക്കിയപ്പോള് കനലിന്മേല്ചുട്ട ഒരു അടയും ഒരു തുരുത്തി വെള്ളവും തലെക്കല് ഇരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; അവന് തിന്നുകുടിച്ചു പിന്നെയും കിടന്നുറങ്ങി.
7And the messenger of Jehovah turneth back a second time, and cometh against him, and saith, `Rise, eat, for the way is too great for thee;`
7യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതന് രണ്ടാം പ്രാവശ്യം വന്നു അവനെ തട്ടിഎഴുന്നേറ്റു തിന്നുക; നിനക്കു ദൂരയാത്ര ചെയ്വാനുണ്ടല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
8and he riseth, and eateth, and drinketh, and goeth in the power of that food forty days and forty nights, unto the mount of God — Horeb.
8അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു തിന്നുകുടിച്ചു; ആ ആഹാരത്തിന്റെ ബലംകൊണ്ടു നാല്പതു പകലും നാല്പതു രാവും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പര്വ്വതമായ ഹോരേബോളം നടന്നു.
9And he cometh in there, unto the cave, and lodgeth there, and lo, the word of Jehovah [is] unto him, and saith to him, `What — to thee, here, Elijah?`
9അവിടെ അവന് ഒരു ഗുഹയില് കടന്നു രാപാര്ത്തു; അപ്പോള് അവന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി, അവനോടുഏലീയാവേ, ഇവിടെ നിനക്കു എന്തു കാര്യം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
10And he saith, `I have been very zealous for Jehovah, God of Hosts, for the sons of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant — Thine altars they have thrown down, and Thy prophets they have slain by the sword, and I am left, I, by myself, and they seek my life — to take it.`
10അതിന്നു അവന് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു വേണ്ടി ഞാന് വളരെ ശുഷ്കാന്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് നിന്റെ നിയമത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു നിന്റെ യാഗപീഠങ്ങളെ ഇടിച്ചു നിന്റെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ വാള്കൊണ്ടു കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു; ഞാന് ഒരുത്തന് മാത്രം ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് എനിക്കും ജീവഹാനി വരുത്തുവാന് നോക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
11And He saith, `Go out, and thou hast stood in the mount before Jehovah.` And lo, Jehovah is passing by, and a wind — great and strong — is rending mountains, and shivering rocks before Jehovah: — not in the wind [is] Jehovah; and after the wind a shaking: — not in the shaking [is] Jehovah;
11നീ പുറത്തു വന്നു പര്വ്വതത്തില് യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നില്ക്ക എന്നു അവന് കല്പിച്ചു. അപ്പോള് ഇതാ യഹോവ കടന്നുപോകുന്നു; ശക്തിയുള്ള ഒരു കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പില് പര്വ്വതങ്ങളെ കീറി പാറകളെ തകര്ത്തു; എന്നാല് കാറ്റില് യഹോവ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു; കാറ്റിന്റെ ശേഷം ഒരു ഭൂകമ്പം ഉണ്ടായി; ഭൂകമ്പത്തിലും യഹോവ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.
12and after the shaking a fire: — not in the fire [is] Jehovah; and after the fire a voice still small;
12ഭൂകമ്പത്തിന്റെ ശേഷം ഒരു തീ; തീയിലും യഹോവ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു; തീയുടെ ശേഷം സാവധാനത്തില് ഒരു മൃദുസ്വരം ഉണ്ടായി.
13and it cometh to pass, at Elijah`s hearing [it], that he wrappeth his face in his robe, and goeth out, and standeth at the opening of the cave, and lo, unto him [is] a voice, and it saith, `What — to thee, here, Elijah?`
13ഏലീയാവു അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു തന്റെ പുതപ്പുകൊണ്ടു മുഖം മൂടി പുറത്തു വന്നു ഗുഹാമുഖത്തുനിന്നുഏലീയാവേ, ഇവിടെ നിനക്കു എന്തു കാര്യം എന്നു ചോദിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ശബ്ദം അവന് കേട്ടു.
14And he saith, `I have been very zealous for Jehovah, God of Hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant, Thine altars they have thrown down, and Thy prophets they have slain by the sword, and I am left, I, by myself, and they seek my life — to take it.`
14അതിന്നു അവന് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു വേണ്ടി ഞാന് വളരെ ശുഷ്കാന്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് നിന്റെ നിയമത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു, നിന്റെ യാഗപീഠങ്ങളെ ഇടിച്ചു, നിന്റെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ വാള്കൊണ്ടു കൊന്നു കളഞ്ഞു; ഞാന് ഒരുത്തന് മാത്രം ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്കും അവന് ജീവഹാനി വരുത്തുവാന് നോക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
15And Jehovah saith unto him, `Go turn back on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus, and thou hast gone in, and anointed Hazael for king over Aram,
15യഹോവ അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതെന്തെന്നാല്നീ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ദമ്മേശെക്കിന്റെ മരുഭൂമിവഴിയായി മടങ്ങിപ്പോക; നീ എത്തുമ്പോള് ഹസായേലിനെ അരാമിന്നു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്ക.
16and Jehu son of Nimshi thou dost anoint for king over Israel, and Elisha son of Shaphat, of Abel-Meholah, thou dost anoint for prophet in thy stead.
16നിംശിയുടെ മകനായ യേഹൂവിനെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്യേണം; ആബേല്-മെഹോലയില്നിന്നുള്ള സാഫാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ എലീശയെ നിനക്കു പകരം പ്രവാചകനായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്കയും വേണം.
17`And it hath been, him who is escaped from the sword of Hazael, put to death doth Jehu, and him who is escaped from the sword of Jehu put to death doth Elisha;
17ഹസായേലിന്റെ വാളിന്നു തെറ്റിപ്പോകുന്നവനെ യേഹൂ കൊല്ലും; യേഹൂവിന്റെ വാളിന്നു തെറ്റിപ്പോകുന്നവനെ എലീശാ കൊല്ലും.
18and I have left in Israel seven thousand, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that hath not kissed him.`
18എന്നാല് ബാലിന്നു മടങ്ങാത്ത മുഴങ്കാലും അവനെ ചുംബനം ചെയ്യാത്ത വായുമുള്ളവരായി ആകെ ഏഴായിരംപേരെ ഞാന് യിസ്രായേലില് ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
19And he goeth thence, and findeth Elisha son of Shaphat, and he is plowing; twelve yoke [are] before him, and he [is] with the twelfth; and Elijah passeth over unto him, and casteth his robe upon him,
19അങ്ങനെ അവന് അവിടെനിന്നു പറപ്പെട്ടു സാഫാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ എലീശയെ കണ്ടെത്തി; അവന് പന്ത്രണ്ടു ഏര് കാള പൂട്ടി ഉഴുവിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; പന്ത്രണ്ടാമത്തേതിനോടുകൂടെ താന് തന്നേ ആയിരുന്നു; ഏലീയാവു അവന്റെ അരികെ ചെന്നു തന്റെ പുതപ്പു അവന്റെ മേല് ഇട്ടു.
20and he forsaketh the oxen, and runneth after Elijah, and saith, `Let me give a kiss, I pray thee, to my father and to my mother, and I go after thee.` And he saith to him, `Go, turn back, for what have I done to thee?`
20അവന് കാളയെ വിട്ടു ഏലീയാവിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഔടിഞാന് എന്റെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും ചുംബിച്ചു കൊള്ളട്ടെ; അതിന്റെശേഷം ഞാന് നിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവന് പോയി വരിക; എന്നാല് ഞാന് നിനക്കു എന്തു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നോര്ക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
21And he turneth back from after him, and taketh the yoke of oxen, and sacrificeth it, and with instruments of the oxen he hath boiled their flesh, and giveth to the people, and they eat, and he riseth, and goeth after Elijah, and serveth him.
21അങ്ങനെ അവന് അവനെ വിട്ടു ചെന്നു ഒരു ഏര് കാളയെ പിടിച്ചു അറുത്തു കാളയുടെ മരക്കോപ്പുകൊണ്ടു മാംസം പാകം ചെയ്തു ജനത്തിന്നു കൊടുത്തു; അവര് തിന്നു; പിന്നെ അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഏലീയാവിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു അവന്നു ശുശ്രൂഷകനായ്തീര്ന്നു.
