1And the day cometh that Jonathan son of Saul saith unto the young man bearing his weapons, `Come, and we pass over unto the station of the Philistines, which [is] on the other side of this;` and to his father he hath not declared [it].
1ഒരു ദിവസം ശൌലിന്റെ മകന്‍ യോനാഥാന്‍ തന്റെ ആയുധവാഹകനായ ബാല്യക്കാരനോടുവരിക, നാം അങ്ങോട്ടു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പട്ടാളത്തിന്റെ നേരെ ചെല്ലുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവന്‍ അപ്പനോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ലതാനും.
2And Saul is abiding at the extremity of Gibeah, under the pomegranate which [is] in Migron, and the people who [are] with him, about six hundred men,
2ശൌല്‍ ഗിബെയയുടെ അതിരിങ്കല്‍ മിഗ്രോനിലെ മാതളനാരകത്തിന്‍ കീഴില്‍ ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു. അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന പടജ്ജനം ഏകദേശം അറുനൂറു പേര്‍.
3and Ahiah, son of Ahitub, brother of I-Chabod, son of Phinehas son of Eli priest of Jehovah in Shiloh, bearing an ephod; and the people knew not that Jonathan hath gone.
3ശീലോവില്‍ യഹോവയുടെ പുരോഹിതനായിരുന്ന ഏലിയുടെ മകനായ ഫീനെഹാസിന്റെ മകനായ ഈഖാബോദിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അഹീതൂബിന്റെ മകന്‍ അഹീയാവു ആയിരുന്നു അന്നു ഏഫോദ് ധരിച്ചിരുന്നതു. യോനാഥാന്‍ പോയതു ജനം അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.
4And between the passages where Jonathan sought to pass over unto the station of the Philistines [is] the edge of a rock on the one side, and the edge of a rock on the other side, and the name of the one is Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.
4യോനാഥാന്‍ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പട്ടാളത്തിന്റെ നേരെ ചെല്ലുവാന്‍ നോക്കിയ വഴിയില്‍ ഇപ്പുറവും അപ്പുറവും കടുന്തൂക്കമായ ഔരോ പാറ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഒന്നിന്നു ബോസേസ് എന്നും മറ്റേതിന്നു സേനെ എന്നും പേര്‍.
5The one edge [is] fixed on the north over-against Michmash, and the one on the south over-against Gibeah.
5ഒന്നു വടക്കുവശം മിക്മാസിന്നു മുഖമായും മറ്റേതു തെക്കുവശം ഗിബെയെക്കു മുഖമായും തൂക്കെ നിന്നിരുന്നു.
6And Jonathan saith unto the young man bearing his weapons, `Come, and we pass over unto the station of these uncircumcised; it may be Jehovah doth work for us, for there is no restraint to Jehovah to save by many or by few.`
6യോനാഥാന്‍ തന്റെ ആയുധവാഹകനായ ബാല്യക്കാരനോടുവരിക, നമുക്കു ഈ അഗ്രചര്‍മ്മികളുടെ പട്ടാളത്തിന്റെ നേരെ ചെല്ലാം; പക്ഷെ യഹോവ നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കും; അധികംകൊണ്ടോ അല്പംകൊണ്ടോ രക്ഷിപ്പാന്‍ യഹോവേക്കു പ്രായസമില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
7And the bearer of his weapons saith to him, `Do all that [is] in thy heart; turn for thee; lo, I [am] with thee, as thine own heart.`
7ആയുധവാഹകന്‍ അവനോടുനിന്റെ മനസ്സുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്ക; നടന്നുകൊള്‍ക; നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ഞാന്‍ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
8And Jonathan saith, `Lo, we are passing over unto the men, and are revealed unto them;
8അതിന്നു യോനാഥാന്‍ പറഞ്ഞതുനാം അവരുടെ നേരെ ചെന്നു അവര്‍ക്കും നമ്മെത്തന്നെ കാണിക്കാം;
9if thus they say unto us, `Stand still till we have come unto you,` then we have stood in our place, and do not go up unto them;
9ഞങ്ങള്‍ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ വരുവോളം നില്പിന്‍ എന്നു അവര്‍ പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ നാം അവരുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ കയറിപ്പോകാതെ നിന്നേടത്തുതന്നേ നില്‍ക്കേണം.
10and if thus they say, `Come up against us,` then we have gone up, for Jehovah hath given them into our hand, and this to us [is] the sign.
10ഇങ്ങോട്ടു കയറിവരുവിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാലോ നമുക്കു കയറിച്ചെല്ലാം; യഹോവ അവരെ നമ്മുടെ കയ്യില്‍ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നതിന്നു ഇതു നമുക്കു അടയാളം ആയിരിക്കും.
11And revealed are both of them unto the station of the Philistines, and the Philistines say, `Lo, Hebrews are coming out of the holes where they have hid themselves.`
11ഇങ്ങനെ അവര്‍ ഇരുവരും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പട്ടാളത്തിന്നു തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ കാണിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ഇതാ, എബ്രായര്‍ ഒളിച്ചിരുന്ന പൊത്തുകളില്‍നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു വരുന്നു എന്നു ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
12And the men of the station answer Jonathan, and the bearer of his weapons, and say, `Come up unto us, and we cause you to know something.` And Jonathan saith unto the bearer of his weapons, `Come up after me, for Jehovah hath given them into the hand of Israel.`
12പട്ടാളക്കാര്‍ യോനാഥാനോടും അവന്റെ ആയുധവാഹകനോടുംഇങ്ങോട്ടു കയറിവരുവിന്‍ ; ഞങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നു കാണിച്ചുതരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള്‍ യോനാഥാന്‍ തന്റെ ആയുധവാഹകനോടുഎന്റെ പിന്നാലെ കയറിവരിക; യഹോവ അവരെ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
13And Jonathan goeth up on his hands, and on his feet, and the bearer of his weapons after him; and they fall before Jonathan, and the bearer of his weapons is putting to death after him.
13അങ്ങനെ യോനാഥാനും അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ആയുധവാഹകനും തത്തിപ്പിടിച്ചു കയറി; അവര്‍ യോനാഥന്റെ മുമ്പില്‍ വീണു; ആയുധവാഹകന്‍ അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ കൊന്നുംകൊണ്ടു നടന്നു.
14And the first smiting which Jonathan and the bearer of his weapons have smitten is of about twenty men, in about half a furrow of a yoke of a field,
14യോനാഥാനും ആയുധവാഹകനും ചെയ്ത ഈ ആദ്യസംഹാരത്തില്‍ ഒരു കാണിനിലത്തിന്റെ പാതി നീളത്തിന്നകം ഇരുപതുപേര്‍ വീണു.
15and there is a trembling in the camp, in the field, and among all the people, the station and the destroyers have trembled — even they, and the earth shaketh, and it becometh a trembling of God.
15പാളയത്തിലും പോര്‍ക്കളത്തിലും സര്‍വ്വജനത്തിലും നടുക്കമുണ്ടായി പട്ടാളവും കവര്‍ച്ചക്കാരും കൂടെ വിറച്ചു, ഭൂമി കുലുങ്ങി, വലിയോരു നടുക്കം ഉണ്ടായി.
16And the watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin see, and lo, the multitude hath melted away, and it goeth on, and is beaten down.
16അപ്പോള്‍ ബെന്യാമീനിലെ ഗിബെയയില്‍നിന്നു ശൌലിന്റെ കാവല്‍ക്കാര്‍ നോക്കി പുരുഷാരം ചിന്നി അങ്ങുമിങ്ങും ഔടുന്നതു കണ്ടു.
17And Saul saith to the people who [are] with him, `Inspect, I pray you, and see; who hath gone from us?` and they inspect, and lo, Jonathan and the bearer of his weapons are not.
17ശൌല്‍ കൂടെയുള്ള ജനത്തോടുഎണ്ണിനോക്കി നമ്മില്‍നിന്നു പോയവര്‍ ആരെന്നറിവിന്‍ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അവര്‍ എണ്ണിനോക്കിയപ്പോള്‍ യോനാഥാനും അവന്റെ ആയുധവാഹകനും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.
18And Saul saith to Ahiah, `Bring nigh the ark of God;` for the ark of God hath been on that day with the sons of Israel.
18ശൌല്‍ അഹീയാവിനോടുദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം ഇവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം ആ കാലത്തു യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കളുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
19And it cometh to pass, while Saul spake unto the priest, that the noise which [is] in the camp of the Philistines goeth on, going on and becoming great, and Saul saith unto the priest, `Remove thy hand.`
19ശൌല്‍ പുരോഹിതനോടു സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പാളയത്തിലെ കലാപം മേലക്കുമേല്‍ വര്‍ദ്ധിച്ചുവന്നു. അപ്പോള്‍ ശൌല്‍ പുരോഹിതനോടുനിന്റെ കൈ വലിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
20And Saul is called, and all the people who [are] with him, and they come in unto the battle, and, lo, the sword of each hath been against his neighbour — a very great destruction.
20ശൌലും കൂടെയുള്ള ജനമൊക്കെയും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി പടെക്കു ചെന്നു, അവിടെ അവര്‍ അന്യോന്യം വെട്ടി വലിയ കലക്കമായിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.
21And the Hebrews [who] have been for the Philistines as heretofore, who had gone up with them into the camp, have turned round, even they, to be with Israel who [are] with Saul and Jonathan,
22അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ എഫ്രയീംമലനാട്ടില്‍ ഒളിച്ചിരുന്ന യിസ്രായേല്യര്‍ ഒക്കെയും ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്‍ തോറ്റോടി എന്നു കേട്ടയുടനെ അവരും പടയില്‍ ചേര്‍ന്നു അവരെ പിന്തുടര്‍ന്നു.
22and all the men of Israel, who are hiding themselves in the hill-country of Ephraim, have heard that the Philistines have fled, and they pursue — even they — after them in battle.
23അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ അന്നു യിസ്രായേലിനെ രക്ഷിച്ചു; പട ബേത്ത്-ആവെന്‍ വരെ പരന്നു.
23And Jehovah saveth Israel on that day, and the battle hath passed over to Beth-Aven.
24സന്ധ്യെക്കു മുമ്പും ഞാന്‍ എന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളോടു പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്യുവോളവും ആഹാരം കഴിക്കുന്നവന്‍ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന്‍ എന്നു ശൌല്‍ പറഞ്ഞു ജനത്തെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചിരുന്നതിനാല്‍ യിസ്രായേല്യര്‍ അന്നു വിഷമത്തിലായി; ജനത്തില്‍ ഒരുത്തനും ആഹാരം ആസ്വദിച്ചതുമില്ല.
24And the men of Israel have been distressed on that day, and Saul adjureth the people, saying, `Cursed [is] the man who eateth food till the evening, and I have been avenged of mine enemies;` and none of the people hath tasted food.
25ജനമൊക്കെയും ഒരു കാട്ടുപ്രദേശത്തു എത്തി; അവിടെ നിലത്തു തേന്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
25And all [they of] the land have come into a forest, and there is honey on the face of the field;
26ജനം കാട്ടില്‍ കടന്നപ്പോള്‍ തേന്‍ ഇറ്റിറ്റു വീഴുന്നതു കണ്ടുഎങ്കിലും സത്യത്തെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു ആരും തന്റെ കൈ വായിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയില്ല.
26and the people come in unto the forest, and lo, the honey dropped, and none is moving his hand unto his mouth, for the people feared the oath.
27യോനാഥാനോ തന്റെ അപ്പന്‍ ജനത്തെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചതു കേള്‍ക്കാതിരുന്നതിനാല്‍ വടിയുടെ അറ്റം നീട്ടി ഒരു തേന്‍ കട്ടയില്‍ കുത്തി അതു എടുത്തു തന്റെ കൈ വായിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി, അവന്റെ കണ്ണു തെളിഞ്ഞു.
27And Jonathan hath not heard of his father`s adjuring the people, and putteth forth the end of the rod, which [is] in his hand, and dippeth it in the honeycomb, and bringeth back his hand unto his mouth — and his eyes see!
28അപ്പോള്‍ ജനത്തില്‍ ഒരുത്തന്‍ ഇന്നു യാതൊരു ആഹാരമെങ്കിലും കഴിക്കുന്നവന്‍ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നിന്റെ അപ്പന്‍ ജനത്തെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടു; ജനം ക്ഷീണിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
28And a man of the people answereth and saith, `Thy father certainly adjured the people, saying, Cursed [is] the man who eateth food to-day; and the people are weary.`
29അതിന്നു യോനാഥാന്‍ എന്റെ അപ്പന്‍ ദേശത്തെ കഷ്ടത്തിലാക്കി; ഞാന്‍ ഈ തേന്‍ ഒരല്പം ആസ്വദിക്കകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കണ്ണു തെളിഞ്ഞതു കണ്ടില്ലയോ?
29And Jonathan saith, `My father hath troubled the land; see, I pray you, that mine eyes have become bright because I tasted a little of this honey.
30ജനത്തിന്നു കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കൊള്ളയില്‍നിന്നു അവര്‍ എടുത്തു ഇന്നു വേണ്ടുംപോലെ ഭക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നു എങ്കില്‍ എത്രനന്നായിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ അപജയം അത്ര വലുതായില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
30How much more if the people had well eaten to-day of the spoil of its enemies which it hath found, for now, the smiting hath not been great among the Philistines.`
31അവര്‍ അന്നു മിക്മാസ് തുടങ്ങി അയ്യാലോന്‍ വരെ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ സംഹരിച്ചു, ജനം ഏറ്റവും തളര്‍ന്നുപോയി.
31And they smite on that day among the Philistines from Michmash to Aijalon, and the people are very weary,
32ആകയാല്‍ ജനം കൊള്ളകൂ ഔടിച്ചെന്നു ആടുകളെയും കാളകളെയും കിടാക്കളെയും പിടിച്ചു നിലത്തു വെച്ചു അറുത്തു രക്തത്തോടുകൂടെ തിന്നു.
32and the people make unto the spoil, and take sheep, and oxen, and sons of the herd, and slaughter on the earth, and the people eat with the blood.
33ജനം രക്തത്തോടെ തിന്നുന്നതിനാല്‍ യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു ശൊലിന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടിയപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ ഇന്നു ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്യുന്നു; ഒരു വലിയ കല്ലു എന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ ഉരുട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
33And they declare to Saul, saying, `Lo, the people are sinning against Jehovah, to eat with the blood.` And he saith, `Ye have dealt treacherously, roll unto me to-day a great stone.`
34പിന്നെയും ശൌല്‍നിങ്ങള്‍ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില്‍ എല്ലാടവും ചെന്നു അവരോടു ഔരോരുത്തന്‍ താന്താന്റെ കാളയെയും ആടിനെയും എന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ഇവിടെവെച്ചു അറുത്തു തിന്നു കൊള്‍വിന്‍ ; രക്തത്തോടെ തിന്നുന്നതിനാല്‍ യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്യരുതു എന്നു പറവിന്‍ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ ജനമെല്ലാം കാളകളെ അന്നു രാത്രി കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവിടെവെച്ചു അറുത്തു.
34And Saul saith, `Be ye scattered among the people, and ye have said to them, Bring ye nigh unto me each his ox, and each his sheep; and ye have slain [them] in this place, and eaten, and ye do not sin against Jehovah to eat with the blood.` And all the people bring nigh each his ox, in his hand, that night, and slaughter [them] there.
35ശൌല്‍ യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു; അതു അവന്‍ യഹോവേക്കു ആദ്യം പണിത യാഗപീഠം ആയിരുന്നു.
35And Saul buildeth an alter to Jehovah; with it he hath begun to build altars to Jehovah.
36അനന്തരം ശൌല്‍നാം രാത്രിയില്‍ തന്നേ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ പിന്തുടര്‍ന്നു പുലരുവോളം അവരെ കൊള്ളയിടുക; അവരില്‍ ഒരുത്തനെയും ശേഷിപ്പിക്കരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. നിനക്കു ബോധിച്ചതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്തുകൊള്‍ക എന്നു അവര്‍ പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍നാം ഇവിടെ ദൈവത്തോടു അടുത്തുചെല്ലുക എന്നു പുരോഹിതന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
36And Saul saith, `Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and we prey upon them till the light of the morning, and leave not a man of them.` And they say, `All that is good in thine eyes do.` And the priest saith, `Let us draw near hither unto God.`
37അങ്ങനെ ശൌല്‍ ദൈവത്തോടുഞാന്‍ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ പിന്തുടരേണമോ? നീ അവരെ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ ഏല്പിക്കുമോ എന്നു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിച്ചു. എന്നാല്‍ അന്നു അവന്നു അരുളപ്പാടു ലഭിച്ചില്ല.
37And Saul asketh of God, `Do I go down after the Philistines? dost Thou give them into the hand of Israel?` and He hath not answered him on that day.
38അപ്പോള്‍ ശൌല്‍ജനത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാനികള്‍ ഒക്കെയും ഇവിടെ അടുത്തുവരട്ടെ; ഇന്നു പാപം സംഭവിച്ചതു ഏതു കാര്യത്തില്‍ എന്നു അന്വേഷിച്ചറിവിന്‍ ;
38And Saul saith, `Draw ye nigh hither all, the chiefs of the people, and know and see in what this sin hath been to-day;
39യിസ്രായേലിനെ രക്ഷിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയാണ, അതു എന്റെ മകന്‍ യോനാഥാനില്‍ തന്നേ ആയിരുന്നാലും അവന്‍ മരിക്കേണം നിശ്ചയം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല്‍ അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറവാന്‍ സര്‍വ്വ ജനത്തിലും ഒരുത്തനും തുനിഞ്ഞില്ല.
39for, Jehovah liveth, who is saving Israel: surely if it be in Jonathan my son, surely he doth certainly die;` and none is answering him out of all the people.
40അവന്‍ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനോടുംനിങ്ങള്‍ ഒരു ഭാഗത്തു നില്പിന്‍ ; ഞാനും എന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാനും മറുഭാഗത്തു നില്‍ക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ആകട്ടെ എന്നു ജനം ശൌലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
40And he saith unto all Israel, `Ye — ye are on one side, and I and Jonathan my son are on another side;` and the people say unto Saul, `That which is good in thine eyes do.`
41അങ്ങനെ ശൌല്‍ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടുനേര്‍ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിത്തരേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള്‍ ശൌലിന്നു യോനാഥാന്നും ചീട്ടുവീണു; ജനം ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോയി.
41And Saul saith unto Jehovah, God of Israel, `Give perfection;` and Jonathan and Saul are captured, and the people went out.
42പിന്നെ ശൌല്‍എനിക്കും എന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാന്നും ചീട്ടിടുവിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ചീട്ടു യോനാഥാന്നു വീണു.
42And Saul saith, `Cast between me and Jonathan my son;` and Jonathan is captured.
43ശൌല്‍ യോനാഥാനോടുനീ എന്തു ചെയ്തു? എന്നോടു പറക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യോനാഥാന്‍ അവനോടുഞാന്‍ എന്റെ വടിയുടെ അറ്റംകൊണ്ടു അല്പം തേന്‍ ആസ്വദിച്ചതേയുള്ളു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഇതാ, ഞാന്‍ മരിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
43And Saul saith unto Jonathan, `Declare to me, what hast thou done?` and Jonathan declareth to him, and saith, `I certainly tasted with the end of the rod that [is] in my hand a little honey; lo, I die!`
44അതിന്നു ശൌല്‍ദൈവം എന്നോടു തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യട്ടെ യോനാഥാനേ, നീ മരിക്കേണം എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
44And Saul saith, `Thus doth God do, and thus doth He add, for thou dost certainly die, Jonathan.`
45എന്നാല്‍ ജനം ശൌലിനോടുയിസ്രായേലില്‍ ഈ മഹാരക്ഷ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന യോനാഥാന്‍ മരിക്കേണമോ? ഒരിക്കലും അരുതു; യഹോവയാണ, അവന്റെ തലയിലെ ഒരു രോമവും നിലത്തു വീഴുകയില്ല; അവന്‍ ഇന്നു ദൈവത്തോടുകൂടെയല്ലോ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ജനം യോനാഥാനെ വീണ്ടെടുത്തു; അവന്‍ മരിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നതുമില്ല.
45And the people say unto Saul, `Doth Jonathan die who wrought this great salvation in Israel? — a profanation! Jehovah liveth, if there falleth from the hair of his head to the earth, for with God he hath wrought this day;` and the people rescue Jonathan, and he hath not died.
46ശൌല്‍ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ പിന്തുടരാതെ മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി; ഫെലിസ്ത്യരും തങ്ങളുടെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു പോയി.
46And Saul goeth up from after the Philistines, and the Philistines have gone to their place;
47ശൌല്‍ യിസ്രായേലില്‍ രാജത്വം ഏറ്റശേഷം മോവാബ്യര്‍, അമ്മോന്യര്‍, എദോമ്യര്‍, സോബാരാജാക്കന്മാര്‍, ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്‍ എന്നിങ്ങനെ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള സകലജാതികളോടും യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു; അവന്‍ ചെന്നേടത്തൊക്കെയും ജയംപ്രാപിച്ചു.
47and Saul captured the kingdom over Israel, and he fighteth round about against all his enemies, against Moab, and against the Bene-Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines, and whithersoever he turneth he doth vex [them].
48അവന്‍ ശൌര്യം പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു അമാലേക്യരെ ജയിച്ചു, യിസ്രായേല്യരെ കവര്‍ച്ചക്കാരുടെ കയ്യില്‍നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.
48And he maketh a force, and smiteth Amalek, and delivereth Israel out of the hand of its spoiler.
49എന്നാല്‍ ശൌലിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര്‍ യോനാഥാന്‍ , യിശ്വി, മല്‍ക്കീശുവ എന്നിവര്‍ ആയിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാര്‍ക്കോ, മൂത്തവള്‍ക്കു മേരബ് എന്നും ഇളയവള്‍ക്കു മീഖാള്‍ എന്നും പേരായിരുന്നു.
49And the sons of Saul are Jonathan, and Ishui, and Melchi-Shua; as to the name of his two daughters, the name of the first-born [is] Merab, and the name of the younger Michal;
50ശൌലിന്റെ ഭാര്യെക്കു അഹീനോവം എന്നു പേര്‍ ആയിരുന്നു; അവള്‍ അഹീമാസിന്റെ മകള്‍. അവന്റെ സേനാധിപതിക്കു അബ്നേര്‍ എന്നു പേര്‍; അവന്‍ ശൌലിന്റെ ഇളയപ്പനായ നേരിന്റെ മകന്‍ ആയിരുന്നു.
50and the name of the wife of Saul [is] Ahinoam, daughter of Ahimaaz; and the name of the head of his host [is] Abner son of Ner, uncle of Saul;
51ശൌലിന്റെ അപ്പനായ കീശും അബ്നേരിന്റെ അപ്പനായ നേരും അബീയേലിന്റെ മക്കള്‍ ആയിരുന്നു.
51and Kish [is] father of Saul, and Ner father of Abner [is] son of Ahiel.
52ശൌലിന്റെ കാലത്തൊക്കെയും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോടു കഠിനയുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; എന്നാല്‍ ശൌല്‍ യാതൊരു വീരനെയോ ശൂരനെയോ കണ്ടാല്‍ അവനെ തന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചേര്‍ത്തുകൊള്ളും.
52And the war is severe against the Philistines all the days of Saul; when Saul hath seen any mighty man, and any son of valour, then he doth gather him unto himself.
