1And the Philistines gather their camps to battle, and are gathered to Shochoh, which [is] to Judah, and encamp between Shochoh and Azekah, in Ephes-Dammim;
1അനന്തരം ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്‍ സൈന്യങ്ങളെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി; അവന്‍ യെഹൂദെക്കുള്ള സോഖോവില്‍ ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടി സോഖോവിന്നും അസേക്കെക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ ഏഫെസ്-ദമ്മീമില്‍ പാളയമിറങ്ങി.
2and Saul and the men of Israel have been gathered, and encamp by the valley of Elah, and set the battle in array to meet the Philistines.
2ശൌലും യിസ്രായേല്യരും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി, ഏലാതാഴ്വരയില്‍ പാളയമിറങ്ങി ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോടു പടെക്കു അണിനിരത്തി;
3And the Philistines are standing on the mountain on this side, and the Israelites are standing on the mountain on that side, and the valley [is] between them.
3ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്‍ ഇപ്പുറത്തു ഒരു മലഞ്ചരിവിലും യിസ്രായേല്യര്‍ അപ്പുറത്തു ഒരു മലഞ്ചരിവിലും നിന്നു; അവരുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ ഒരു താഴ്വര ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
4And there goeth out a man of the duellists from the camps of the Philistines, Goliath [is] his name, from Gath; his height [is] six cubits and a span,
4അപ്പോള്‍ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പാളയത്തില്‍നിന്നു ഗഥ്യനായ ഗൊല്യാത്ത് എന്ന ഒരു മല്ലന്‍ പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവന്‍ ആറു മുഴവും ഒരു ചാണും നെടുപ്പമുള്ളവന്‍ ആയിരുന്നു.
5and a helmet of brass [is] on his head, and [with] a scaled coat of mail he [is] clothed, and the weight of the coat of mail [is] five thousand shekels of brass,
5അവന്നു തലയില്‍ ഒരു താമ്രശിരസ്ത്രം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്‍ അയ്യായിരം ശേക്കെല്‍ തൂക്കമുള്ള ഒരു താമ്രകവചവും ധരിച്ചിരുന്നു.
6and a frontlet of brass [is] on his feet, and a javelin of brass between his shoulders,
6അവന്നു താമ്രംകൊണ്ടുള്ള കാല്‍ചട്ടയും ചുമലില്‍ താമ്രം കൊണ്ടുള്ള ഒരു വേലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
7and the wood of his spear [is] like a beam of weavers`, and the flame of his spear [is] six hundred shekels of iron, and the bearer of the buckler is going before him.
7അവന്റെ കുന്തത്തിന്റെ തണ്ടു നെയ്ത്തുകാരന്റെ പടപ്പുതടിപോലെ ആയിരുന്നു; കുന്തത്തിന്റെ അലകു അറുനൂറു ശേക്കെല്‍ ഇരിമ്പു ആയിരുന്നു; ഒരു പരിചക്കാരന്‍ അവന്റെ മുമ്പെ നടന്നു.
8And he standeth and calleth unto the ranks of Israel, and saith to them, `Why are ye come out to set in array the battle? [am] not I the Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose for you a man, and let him come down unto me;
8അവന്‍ നിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്‍ നിരകളോടു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതുനിങ്ങള്‍ വന്നു പടെക്കു അണിനിരന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? ഞാന്‍ ഫെലിസ്ത്യനും നിങ്ങള്‍ ശൌലിന്റെ ചേവകരും അല്ലയോ? നിങ്ങള്‍ ഒരുത്തനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തുകൊള്‍വിന്‍ ; അവന്‍ എന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ ഇറങ്ങിവരട്ടെ.
9if he be able to fight with me, and have smitten me, then we have been to you for servants; and if I am able for him, and have smitten him, then ye have been to us for servants, and have served us.`
9അവന്‍ എന്നോടു അങ്കം പൊരുതു എന്നെ കൊല്ലുവാന്‍ പ്രാപ്തനായാല്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു അടിമകള്‍ ആകാം; ഞാന്‍ അവനെ ജയിച്ചു കൊന്നാല്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു അടിമകളായി ഞങ്ങളെ സേവിക്കേണം.
10And the Philistine saith, `I have reproached the ranks of Israel this day; give to me a man, and we fight together.`
10ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്‍ പിന്നെയുംഞാന്‍ ഇന്നു യിസ്രായേല്‍ നിരകളെ വെല്ലുവിളിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങള്‍ തമ്മില്‍ അങ്കം പൊരുതേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒരുത്തനെ വിട്ടു തരുവിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
11And Saul heareth — and all Israel — these words of the Philistine, and they are broken down and greatly afraid.
11ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്റെ ഈ വാക്കുകള്‍ ശൌലും എല്ലായിസ്രായേല്യരും കേട്ടപ്പോള്‍ ഭ്രമിച്ചു ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.
12And David [is] son of this Ephrathite of Beth-Lehem-Judah, whose name [is] Jesse, and he hath eight sons, and the man in the days of Saul hath become aged among men;
12എന്നാല്‍ ദാവീദ് യെഹൂദയിലെ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമില്‍ യിശ്ശായി എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു എഫ്രാത്യന്റെ മകന്‍ ആയിരുന്നു; യിശ്ശായിക്കു എട്ടു മക്കള്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്‍ ശൌലിന്റെ കാലത്തു വയസ്സുചെന്നു വൃദ്ധനായിരുന്നു.
13and the three eldest sons of Jesse go, they have gone after Saul to battle; and the name of his three sons who have gone into battle [are] Eliab the first-born, and his second Abinadab, and the third Shammah.
13യിശ്ശായിയുടെ മൂത്ത മക്കള്‍ മൂവരും പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശൌലിന്റെ കൂടെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു ചെന്നിരുന്നു. യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോയ മൂന്നു മക്കള്‍ ആദ്യജാതന്‍ ഏലീയാബും അവന്റെ അനുജന്‍ അബീനാദാബും മൂന്നാമത്തെവന്‍ ശമ്മയും ആയിരുന്നു.
14And David is the youngest, and the three eldest have gone after Saul,
14ദാവീദോ എല്ലാവരിലും ഇളയവന്‍ ; മൂത്തവര്‍ മൂവരും ശൌലിന്റെ കൂടെ പോയിരുന്നു.
15and David is going and returning from Saul, to feed the flock of his father at Beth-Lehem.
15ദാവിദ് ശൌലിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ നിന്നു തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ ആടുകളെ മേയിപ്പാന്‍ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമില്‍ പോയിവരിക പതിവായിരുന്നു.
16And the Philistine draweth nigh, morning and evening, and stationeth himself forty days.
16ആ ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്‍ നാല്പതു ദിവസം മുടങ്ങാതെ രാവിലെയും വൈകുന്നേരവും മുമ്പോട്ടു വന്നുനിന്നു.
17And Jesse saith to David his son, `Take, I pray thee, to thy brethren, an ephah of this roasted [corn], and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to thy brethren;
17യിശ്ശായി തന്റെ മകനായ ദാവീദിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഈ ഒരു പറ മലരും അപ്പം പത്തും എടുത്തു പാളയത്തില്‍ നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ വേഗം കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു കൊടുക്ക.
18and these ten cuttings of the cheese thou dost take in to the head of the thousand, and thy brethren thou dost inspect for welfare, and their pledge dost receive.`
18ഈ പാല്‍ക്കട്ട പത്തും സഹസ്രാധിപന്നു കൊടുക്ക; നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ ക്ഷേമം ചോദിച്ചു ലക്ഷ്യവും വാങ്ങി വരിക.
19And Saul, and they, and all the men of Israel [are] in the valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines.
19ശൌലും അവരും യിസ്രായേല്യര്‍ ഒക്കെയും ഏലാതാഴ്വരയില്‍ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ടു.
20And David riseth early in the morning, and leaveth the flock to a keeper, and lifteth up, and goeth, as Jesse commanded him, and he cometh in to the path, and to the force which is going out unto the rank, and they have shouted for battle;
20അങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു ആടുകളെ കാവല്‍ക്കാരന്റെ പക്കല്‍ വിട്ടേച്ചു, യിശ്ശായി തന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതൊക്കെയും എടുത്തുംകൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു കൈനിലയില്‍ എത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ സൈന്യം പടെക്കു ആര്‍ത്തുവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പുറപ്പെടുകയായിരുന്നു.
21and Israel and the Philistines set in array rank to meet rank.
21യിസ്രായേലും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരും നേര്‍ക്കുംനേരെ അണിനിരന്നുനിന്നു.
22And David letteth down the goods from off him on the hand of a keeper of the goods, and runneth into the rank, and cometh and asketh of his brethren of welfare.
22ദാവീദ് തന്റെ സാമാനം പടക്കോപ്പു സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവന്റെ പക്കല്‍ ഏല്പിച്ചുംവെച്ചു അണിയില്‍ ഔടിച്ചെന്നു തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരോടു കുശലം ചോദിച്ചു.
23And he is speaking with them, and lo, a man of the duellists is coming up, Goliath the Philistine [is] his name, of Gath, out of the ranks of the Philistines, and he speaketh according to those words, and David heareth;
23അവന്‍ അവരോടു സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നിലക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ഗഥ്യനായ ഗൊല്യാത്ത് എന്ന ഫെലിസ്ത്യമല്ലന്‍ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ നിരകളില്‍നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു വന്നു മുമ്പിലത്തെ വാക്കുകള്‍തന്നേ പറയുന്നതു ദാവീദ് കേട്ടു.
24and all the men of Israel when they see the man flee from his presence, and are greatly afraid.
24അവനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ യിസ്രായേല്യരൊക്കെയും ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ മുമ്പില്‍നിന്നു ഔടി.
25And the men of Israel say, `Have ye seen this man who is coming up? for, to reproach Israel he is coming up, and it hath been — the man who smiteth him, the king doth enrich him with great riches, and his daughter he doth give to him, and his father`s house doth make free in Israel.`
25എന്നാറെ യിസ്രായേല്യര്‍വന്നു നിലക്കുന്ന ഇവനെ കണ്ടുവോ? അവന്‍ യിസ്രായേലിനെ നിന്ദിപ്പാന്‍ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; അവനെ കൊല്ലുന്നവനെ രാജാവു മഹാസമ്പന്നനാക്കുകയും തന്റെ മകളെ അവന്നു കൊടുക്കുകയും അവന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിന്നു യിസ്രായേലില്‍ കരമൊഴിവു കല്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
26And David speaketh unto the men who are standing by him, saying, `What is done to the man who smiteth this Philistine, and hath turned aside reproach from Israel? for who [is] this uncircumcised Philistine that he hath reproached the ranks of the living God?`
26അപ്പോള്‍ ദാവീദ് തന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ നിലക്കുന്നവരോടുഈ ഫെലിസ്ത്യനെകൊന്നു യിസ്രായേലില്‍നിന്നു നിന്ദയെ നീക്കിക്കളയുന്നവന്നു എന്തു കൊടുക്കും? ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സേനകളെ നിന്ദിപ്പാന്‍ ഈ അഗ്രചര്‍മ്മിയായ ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്‍ ആര്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
27And the people speak to him according to this word, saying, `Thus it is done to the man who smiteth him.`
27അതിന്നു ജനംഅവനെ കൊല്ലുവന്നു ഇന്നിന്നതൊക്കെയും കൊടുക്കും എന്നു അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
28And Eliab, his eldest brother, heareth when he speaketh unto the men, and the anger of Eliab burneth against David, and he saith, `Why [is] this — thou hast come down! and to whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I have known thy pride, and the evil of thy heart — for, to see the battle thou hast come down.`
28അവരോടു അവന്‍ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു അവന്റെ മൂത്ത ജ്യേഷ്ഠന്‍ എലീയാബ് കേട്ടു ദാവീദിനോടു കോപിച്ചുനീ ഇവിടെ എന്തിന്നു വന്നു? മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ ആ കുറെ ആടുള്ളതു നീ ആരുടെ പക്കല്‍ വിട്ടേച്ചുപോന്നു? നിന്റെ അഹങ്കാരവും നിഗളഭാവവും എനിക്കറിയാം; പട കാണ്മാനല്ലേ നീ വന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
29And David saith, `What have I done now? is it not a word?`
29അതിന്നു ദാവീദ്ഞാന്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ എന്തു ചെയ്തു? ഒരു വാക്കല്ലേ പറഞ്ഞുള്ളു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
30And he turneth round from him unto another, and saith according to this word, and the people return him word as the first word.
30അവന്‍ അവനെ വിട്ടുമാറി മറ്റൊരുത്തനോടു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചോദിച്ചു; ജനം മുമ്പിലത്തേപ്പോലെ തന്നേ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
31And the words which David hath spoken are heard, and they declare before Saul, and he receiveth him;
31ദാവീദ് പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുകള്‍ പരസ്യമായപ്പോള്‍ ശൌലിന്നും അറിവു കിട്ടി; അവന്‍ അവനെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി.
32and David saith unto Saul, `Let no man`s heart fall because of him, thy servant doth go, and hath fought with this Philistine.`
32ദാവീദ് ശൌലിനോടുഇവന്റെ നിമിത്തം ആരും അധൈര്യപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; അടിയന്‍ ചെന്നു ഈ ഫെലിസ്ത്യനോടു അങ്കം പൊരുതും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
33And Saul saith unto David, `Thou art not able to go unto this Philistine, to fight with him, for a youth thou [art], and he a man of war from his youth.`
33ശൌല്‍ ദാവീദിനോടുഈ ഫെലിസ്ത്യനോടു ചെന്നു അങ്കം പൊരുതുവാന്‍ നിനക്കു പ്രാപ്തിയില്ല; നീ ബാലന്‍ അത്രേ; അവനോ, ബാല്യംമുതല്‍ യോദ്ധാവാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
34And David saith unto Saul, `A shepherd hath thy servant been to his father among the sheep, and the lion hath come — and the bear — and hath taken away a sheep out of the drove,
34ദാവീദ് ശൌലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഅടിയന്‍ അപ്പന്റെ ആടുകളെ മേയിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ഒരിക്കല്‍ ഒരു സിംഹവും ഒരിക്കല്‍ ഒരു കരടിയും വന്നു കൂട്ടത്തില്‍ നിന്നു ആട്ടിന്‍ കുട്ടിയെ പിടിച്ചു.
35and I have gone out after him, and smitten him, and delivered out of his mouth, and he riseth against me, and I have taken hold on his beard, and smitten him, and put him to death.
35ഞാന്‍ പിന്തുടര്‍ന്നു അതിനെ അടിച്ചു അതിന്റെ വായില്‍നിന്നു ആട്ടിന്‍ കുട്ടിയെ വിടുവിച്ചു, അതു എന്റെ നേരെ വന്നപ്പോള്‍ ഞാന്‍ അതിനെ താടിക്കു പിടിച്ചു അടിച്ചു കൊന്നു.
36Both the lion and the bear hath thy servant smitten, and this uncircumcised Philistine hath been as one of them, for he hath reproached the ranks of the living God.`
36ഇങ്ങനെ അടിയന്‍ സിംഹത്തെയും കരടിയെയും കൊന്നു; ഈ അഗ്രചര്‍മ്മിയായ ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്‍ ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സൈന്യത്തെ നിന്ദിച്ചിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവനും അവയില്‍ ഒന്നിനെപ്പോലെ ആകും.
37And David saith, `Jehovah, who delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, He doth deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.` And Saul saith unto David, `Go, and Jehovah is with thee.`
37ദാവീദ് പിന്നെയുംസിംഹത്തിന്റെ കയ്യില്‍നിന്നും കരടിയുടെ കയ്യില്‍നിന്നും എന്നെ രക്ഷിച്ച യഹോവ ഈ ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്റെ കയ്യില്‍നിന്നും എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ശൌല്‍ ദാവീദിനോടുചെല്ലുക; യഹോവ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
38And Saul clotheth David with his long robe, and hath put a helmet of brass on his head, and doth clothe him with a coat of mail.
38ശൌല്‍ തന്റെ പടയങ്കി ദാവീദിനെ ധരിപ്പിച്ചു അവന്റെ തലയില്‍ താമ്രശിരസ്ത്രംവെച്ചു; തന്റെ കവചവും അവനെ ഇടുവിച്ചു.
39And David girded his sword above his long robe, and beginneth to go, for he hath not tried [it]; and David saith unto Saul, `I am not able to go with these, for I had not tried;` and David turneth them aside from off him.
39പടയങ്കിമേല്‍ അവന്റെ വാളും കെട്ടി ദാവീദ് നടപ്പാന്‍ നോക്കി; എന്നാല്‍ അവന്നു ശീലമില്ലായിരുന്നു; ദാവീദ് ശൌലിനോടുഞാന്‍ ശീലിച്ചിട്ടില്ലായ്കയാല്‍ ഇവ ധരിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു നടപ്പാന്‍ എനിക്കു കഴികയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു, അവയെ ഊരിവെച്ചു.
40And he taketh his staff in his hand, and chooseth for him five smooth stones from the brook, and putteth them in the shepherds` habiliments that he hath, even in the scrip, and his sling [is] in his hand, and he draweth nigh unto the Philistine.
40പിന്നെ അവന്‍ തന്റെ വടി എടുത്തു, തോട്ടില്‍നിന്നു മിനുസമുള്ള അഞ്ചു കല്ലും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു ഇടയസ്സഞ്ചിയായ പൊക്കണത്തില്‍ ഇട്ടു, കയ്യില്‍ കവിണയുമായി ഫെലിസ്ത്യനോടു അടുത്തു.
41And the Philistine goeth on, going and drawing near unto David, and the man bearing the buckler [is] before him,
41ഫെലിസ്ത്യനും ദാവീദിനോടു അടുത്തു; പരിചക്കാരനും അവന്റെ മുമ്പെ നടന്നു.
42and the Philistine looketh attentively, and seeth David, and despiseth him, for he was a youth, and ruddy, with a fair appearance.
42ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്‍ നോക്കി ദാവീദിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ അവനെ നിന്ദിച്ചു; അവന്‍ തീരെ ബാലനും പവിഴനിറമുള്ളവനും കോമളരൂപനും ആയിരുന്നു.
43And the Philistine saith unto David, `Am I a dog that thou art coming unto me with staves?` and the Philistine revileth David by his gods,
43ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്‍ ദാവീദിനോടുനീ വടികളുമായി എന്റെ നേരെ വരുവാന്‍ ഞാന്‍ നായോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു, തന്റെ ദേവന്മാരുടെ നാമം ചൊല്ലി ദാവീദിനെ ശപിച്ചു.
44and the Philistine saith unto David, `Come unto me, and I give thy flesh to the fowl of the heavens, and to the beast of the field.`
44ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്‍ പിന്നെയും ദാവീദിനോടുഇങ്ങോട്ടു വാ; ഞാന്‍ നിന്റെ മാംസം ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികള്‍ക്കും കാട്ടിലെ മൃഗങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ഇരയാക്കുന്നുണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
45And David saith unto the Philistine, `Thou art coming unto me with sword, and with spear, and with buckler, and I am coming unto thee in the name of Jehovah of Hosts, God of the ranks of Israel, which thou hast reproached.
45ദാവീദ് ഫെലിസ്ത്യനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുനീ വാളും കുന്തവും വേലുമായി എന്റെ നേരെ വരുന്നു; ഞാനോ നീ നിന്ദിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള യിസ്രായേല്‍നിരകളുടെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില്‍ നിന്റെ നേരെ വരുന്നു.
46This day doth Jehovah shut thee up into my hand — and I have smitten thee, and turned aside thy head from off thee, and given the carcase of the camp of the Philistines this day to the fowl of the heavens, and to the beast of the earth, and all the earth do know that God is for Israel.
46യഹോവ ഇന്നു നിന്നെ എന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ ഏല്പിക്കും; ഞാന്‍ നിന്നെ കൊന്നു നിന്റെ തല ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും; അത്രയുമല്ല ഞാന്‍ ഇന്നു ഫെലിസ്ത്യ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ശവങ്ങളെ ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികള്‍ക്കും ഭൂമിയിലെ മൃഗങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ഇരയാക്കും; യിസ്രായേലില്‍ ഒരു ദൈവം ഉണ്ടെന്നു സര്‍വ്വഭൂമിയും അറിയും.
47and all this assembly do know that not by sword and by spear doth Jehovah save, that the battle [is] Jehovah`s, and He hath given you into our hand.`
47യഹോവ വാള്‍കൊണ്ടും കുന്തംകൊണ്ടുമല്ല രക്ഷിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു ഈ സംഘമെല്ലാം അറിവാന്‍ ഇടവരും; യുദ്ധം യഹോവേക്കുള്ളതു; അവന്‍ നിങ്ങളെ ഞങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യില്‍ ഏല്പിച്ചുതരും.
48And it hath come to pass, that the Philistine hath risen, and goeth, and draweth near to meet David, and David hasteth and runneth to the rank to meet the Philistine,
48പിന്നെ ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്‍ ദാവീദിനോടു എതിര്‍പ്പാന്‍ നേരിട്ടടുത്തപ്പോള്‍ ദാവീദ് ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ഫെലിസ്ത്യനോടു എതിര്‍പ്പാന്‍ അണിക്കു നേരെ ഔടി.
49and David putteth forth his hand unto the vessel, and taketh thence a stone, and slingeth, and smiteth the Philistine on his forehead, and the stone sinketh into his forehead, and he falleth on his face to the earth.
49ദാവീദ് സഞ്ചിയില്‍ കയ്യിട്ടു ഒരു കല്ലു എടുത്തു കവിണയില്‍വെച്ചു വീശി ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്റെ നെറ്റിക്കു എറിഞ്ഞു. കല്ലു അവന്റെ നെറ്റിയില്‍ കൊണ്ടു പതിഞ്ഞു;
50And David is stronger than the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smiteth the Philistine, and putteth him to death, and there is no sword in the hand of David,
50അവന്‍ കവിണ്ണുവീണു. ഇങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് ഒരു കവിണയും ഒരു കല്ലുംകൊണ്ടു ഫെലിസ്ത്യനെ ജയിച്ചു, ഫെലിസ്ത്യനെ കൊന്നു മുടിച്ചു; എന്നാല്‍ ദാവീദിന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ വാള്‍ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.
51and David runneth and standeth over the Philistine, and taketh his sword, and draweth it out of its sheath, and putteth him to death, and cutteth off with it his head; and the Philistines see that their hero [is] dead, and flee.
51ആകയാല്‍ ദാവീദ് ഔടിച്ചെന്നു ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്റെ പുറത്തു കയറിനിന്നു അവന്റെ വാള്‍ ഉറയില്‍നിന്നു ഊരിയെടുത്തു അവനെ കൊന്നു, അവന്റെ തല വെട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു. തങ്ങളുടെ മല്ലന്‍ മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്‍ കണ്ടിട്ടു ഔടിപ്പോയി.
52And the men of Israel rise — also Judah — and shout, and pursue the Philistines till thou enter the valley, and unto the gates of Ekron, and the wounded of the Philistines fall in the way of Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron,
52യിസ്രായേല്യരും യെഹൂദ്യരും പുറപ്പെട്ടു ആര്‍ത്തുംകൊണ്ടു ഗത്തും എക്രോന്‍ വാതിലുകളുംവരെ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ പിന്തുടര്‍ന്നു; ഫെലിസ്ത്യഹതന്മാര്‍ ശയരയീമിന്നുള്ള വഴിയില്‍ ഗത്തും എക്രോനുംവരെ വീണുകിടന്നു.
53and the sons of Israel turn back from burning after the Philistines, and spoil their camps.
53ഇങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കള്‍ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ ഔടിക്കയും മടങ്ങിവന്നു അവരുടെ പാളയം കൊള്ളയിടുകയും ചെയ്തു.
54And David taketh the head of the Philistine, and bringeth it in to Jerusalem, and his weapons he hath put in his own tent.
54എന്നാല്‍ ദാവീദ് ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്റെ തല എടുത്തു അതിനെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവന്റെ ആയുധവര്‍ഗ്ഗമോ തന്റെ കൂടാരത്തില്‍ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെച്ചു.
55And when Saul seeth David going out to meet the Philistine, he hath said unto Abner, head of the host, `Whose son [is] this — the youth, Abner?` and Abner saith, `Thy soul liveth, O king, I have not known.`
55ദാവീദ് ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്റെ നേരെ ചെല്ലുന്നതു ശൌല്‍ കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ സേനാധിപതിയായ അബ്നേരിനോടുഅബ്നേരേ, ഈ ബാല്യക്കാരന്‍ ആരുടെ മകന്‍ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അബ്നേര്‍രാജാവേ, തിരുമേനിയാണ ഞാന്‍ അറിയുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
56And the king saith, `Ask thou whose son this [is] — the young man.`
56ഈ ബാല്യക്കാരന്‍ ആരുടെ മകന്‍ എന്നു നീ അന്വേഷിക്കേണം എന്നു രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചു.
57And when David turneth back from smiting the Philistine, then Abner taketh him and bringeth him in before Saul, and the head of the Philistine in his hand;
57ദാവീദ് ഫെലിസ്ത്യനെ സംഹരിച്ചു മടങ്ങിവരുമ്പോള്‍ അബ്നേര്‍ അവനെ കൂട്ടി ശൌലിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു; ഫെലിസ്ത്യന്റെ തലയും അവന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
58and Saul saith unto him, `Whose son [art] thou, O youth?` and David saith, `Son of thy servant Jesse, the Beth-Lehemite.`
58ശൌല്‍ അവനോടുബാല്യക്കാരാ, നീ ആരുടെ മകന്‍ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; ഞാന്‍ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമ്യനായ നിന്റെ ദാസന്‍ യിശ്ശായിയുടെ മകന്‍ എന്നു ദാവീദ് പറഞ്ഞു.
