1In the twenty and third year of Joash son of Ahaziah king of Judah, hath Jehoahaz son of Jehu reigned over Israel, in Samaria — seventeen years,
1യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അഹസ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യോവാശിന്റെ ഇരുപത്തിമൂന്നാം ആണ്ടില് യേഹൂവിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോവാഹാസ് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായി ശമര്യ്യയില് പതിനേഴു സംവത്സരം വാണു.
2and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and goeth after the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he caused Israel to sin — he turned not aside from it,
2അവന് യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു; യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുമാറാതെ അവയില് തന്നേ നടന്നു.
3and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He giveth them into the hand of Hazael king of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael, all the days.
3ആകയാല് യഹോവയുടെ കോപം യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവന് അവരെ അരാംരാജാവായ ഹസായേലിന്റെ കയ്യിലും ഹസായേലിന്റെ മകനായ ബെന് -ഹദദിന്റെ കയ്യിലും നിരന്തരം വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു.
4And Jehoahaz appeaseth the face of Jehovah, and Jehovah hearkeneth unto him, for He hath seen the oppression of Israel, for oppressed them hath the king of Aram, —
4എന്നാല് യെഹോവാഹാസ് യഹോവയോടു കൃപെക്കായി അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അരാംരാജാവു യിസ്രായേലിനെ ഞെരുക്കിയ ഞെരുക്കം യഹോവ കണ്ടിട്ടു അവന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു.
5and Jehovah giveth to Israel a saviour, and they go out from under the hand of Aram, and the sons of Israel dwell in their tents as heretofore;
5യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഒരു രക്ഷകനെ കൊടുത്തതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് അരാമ്യരുടെ അധികാരത്തില്നിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോയി; യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് പണ്ടത്തെപ്പോലെ തങ്ങളുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളില് വസിപ്പാന് സംഗതിവന്നു.
6only, they have not turned aside from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, that he caused Israel to sin, therein they walked, and also, the shrine hath remained in Samaria, —
6എങ്കിലും യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച യൊരോബെയാം ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ അവര് വിട്ടുമാറാതെ അവയില് തന്നേ നടന്നു; അശേരാപ്രതിഷ്ഠെക്കു ശമര്യ്യയില് നീക്കം വന്നില്ല.
7for he left not to Jehoahaz of the people except fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen, for the king of Aram hath destroyed them, and maketh them as dust for threshing.
7അവന് യെഹോവാഹാസിന്നു അമ്പതു കുതിരച്ചേവകരെയും പത്തു രഥങ്ങളെയും പതിനായിരം കാലാളുകളെയും അല്ലാതെ മറ്റു യാതൊരു പടജ്ജനത്തെയും ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചില്ല; അരാംരാജാവു അവരെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു മെതിക്കളത്തിലെ പൊടിപോലെ ആക്കിയിരുന്നു.
8And the rest of the matters of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
8യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ പരാക്രമപ്രവൃത്തിയും യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
9And Jehoahaz lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in Samaria, and reign doth Joash his son in his stead.
9യെഹോവാഹാസ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവനെ ശമര്യ്യയില് അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ യോവാശ് അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.
10In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah reigned hath Jehoash son of Jehoahaz over Israel, in Samaria — sixteen years,
10യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യോവാശിന്റെ മുപ്പത്തേഴാം ആണ്ടില് യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മകനായ യോവാശ് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായി ശമര്യ്യയില് പതിനൊന്നു സംവത്സരം വാണു.
11and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, he hath not turned aside from all the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he caused Israel to sin, therein he walked.
11അവന് യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു; യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബയാമിന്റെ സകലപാപങ്ങളെയും അവന് വിട്ടുമാറാതെ അവയില് തന്നേ നടന്നു.
12And the rest of the matters of Joash, and all that he did, and his might with which he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
12യോവാശിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അമസ്യാവോടു യുദ്ധത്തില് കാണിച്ച പരാക്രമവും യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
13And Joash lieth with his fathers, and Jeroboam hath sat on his throne, and Joash is buried in Samaria, with the kings of Israel.
13യോവാശ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; യൊരോബെയാം സിംഹാസനം കയറി; യോവാശിനെ ശമര്യ്യയില് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരോടു കൂടെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.
14And Elisha hath been sick with his sickness in which he dieth, and come down unto him doth Joash king of Israel, and weepeth on his face, and saith, `My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and its horsemen.`
14ആ കാലത്തു എലീശാ മരണഹേതുകമായ രോഗംപിടിച്ചു കിടന്നു; അപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ യോവാശ് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു അവന്റെ മുഖത്തിന്മീതെ കുനിഞ്ഞു കരഞ്ഞു; എന്റെ പിതാവേ, എന്റെ പിതാവേ, യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ തേരും തേരാളികളുമായുള്ളോവേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
15And Elisha saith to him, `Take bow and arrows:` and he taketh unto him bow and arrows.
15എലീശാ അവനോടുഅമ്പും വില്ലും എടുക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവന് അമ്പും വില്ലും എടുത്തു.
16And he saith to the king of Israel, `Place thy hand on the bow;` and he placeth his hand, and Elisha putteth his hands on the hands of the king,
16അപ്പോള് അവന് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിനോടു നിന്റെ കൈ വില്ലിന്മേല് വെക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് കൈവെച്ചപ്പോള് എലീശാ തന്റെ കൈ രാജാവിന്റെ കൈമേല് വെച്ചു.
17and saith, `Open the window eastward;` and he openeth, and Elisha saith, `Shoot,` and he shooteth; and he saith, `An arrow of salvation to Jehovah, and an arrow of salvation against Aram, and thou hast smitten Aram, in Aphek, till consuming.`
17കിഴക്കെ കിളിവാതില് തുറക്ക എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അതു തുറന്നപ്പോള്എയ്ക എന്നു എലീശാ പറഞ്ഞു. എയ്താറെ അവന് അതു യഹോവയുടെ ജയാസ്ത്രം, അരാമ്യര്ക്കും നേരെയുള്ള ജയാസ്ത്രം തന്നേ; നീ അഫേക്കില്വെച്ചു അരാമ്യരെ തോല്പിച്ചു അശേഷം സംഹരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
18And he saith, `Take the arrows,` and he taketh; and he saith to the king of Israel, `Smite to the earth;` and he smiteth three times, and stayeth.
18അമ്പു എടുക്ക എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് എടുത്തു; നിലത്തടിക്ക എന്നു അവന് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് മൂന്നു പ്രാവശ്യം അടിച്ചു നിര്ത്തി.
19And the man of God is wroth against him, and saith, `By smiting five or six times then thou hadst smitten Aram till consuming; and now, three times thou dost smite Aram.`
19അപ്പോള് ദൈവപുരുഷന് അവനോടു കോപിച്ചു; നീ അഞ്ചാറു പ്രവാശ്യം അടിക്കേണ്ടിയിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് നീ അരാമ്യരെ തോല്പിച്ചു അശേഷം സംഹരിക്കുമായിരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോഴോ നീ അരാമ്യരെ മൂന്നു പ്രാവശ്യം മാത്രം തോല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
20And Elisha dieth, and they bury him, and troops of Moab come in to the land, at the coming in of the year,
20എന്നാല് എലീശാ മരിച്ചു; അവര് അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; പിറ്റെ ആണ്ടില് മോവാബ്യരുടെ പടക്കൂട്ടങ്ങള് ദേശത്തെ ആക്രമിച്ചു.
21and it cometh to pass, they are burying a man, and lo, they have seen the troop, and cast the man into the grave of Elisha, and the man goeth and cometh against the bones of Elisha, and liveth, and riseth on his feet.
21ചിലര് ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്യുമ്പോള് ഒരു പടക്കൂട്ടത്തെ കണ്ടിട്ടു അയാളെ എലീശാവിന്റെ കല്ലറയില് ഇട്ടു; അവന് അതില് വീണു എലീശയുടെ അസ്ഥികളെ തൊട്ടപ്പോള് ജീവിച്ചു കാലൂന്നി എഴുന്നേറ്റു.
22And Hazael king of Aram hath oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz,
22എന്നാല് യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ കാലത്തൊക്കെയും അരാമ്യരാജാവായ ഹസായേല് യിസ്രായേലിനെ ഞെരുക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
23and Jehovah doth favour them, and pity them, and turn unto them, for the sake of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and hath not been willing to destroy them, nor to cast them from His presence as yet.
23യഹോവേക്കു അവരോടു കരുണയും മനസ്സലിവും തോന്നി, അബ്രാഹാം, യിസ്ഹാക്, യാക്കോബ് എന്നവരോടുള്ള തന്റെ നിയമംനിമിത്തം അവന് അവരെ കടാക്ഷിച്ചു; അവരെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് അവന്നു മനസ്സായില്ല; ഇതുവരെ തന്റെ സമ്മുഖത്തുനിന്നു അവരെ തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞതുമില്ല.
24And Hazael king of Aram dieth, and reign doth Ben-Hadad his son in his stead,
24അരാംരാജാവായ ഹസായേല് മരിച്ചപ്പോള് അവന്റെ മകനായ ബെന് -ഹദദ് അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.
25and Jehoash son of Jehoahaz turneth and taketh the cities out of the hand of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael that he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father in war; three times hath Joash smitten him, and he bringeth back the cities of Israel.
25യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോവാശ് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യെഹോവാഹാസിനോടു ഹസായേല് യുദ്ധത്തില് പിടിച്ചിരുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങളെ അവന്റെ മകനായ ബെന് -ഹദദിനോടു തിരികെ പിടിച്ചു. മൂന്നു പ്രാവശ്യം യോവാശ് അവനെ തോല്പിക്കയും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പട്ടണങ്ങളെ വീണ്ടുകൊള്ളുകയും ചെയ്തു.
