1And it cometh to pass, after the death of Joshua, that the sons of Israel ask at Jehovah, saying, `Who doth go up for us unto the Canaanite, at the commencement, to fight against it?`
1യോശുവയുടെ മരണശേഷം യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള്ഞങ്ങളില് ആരാകുന്നു കനാന്യരോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്വാന് ആദ്യം പുറപ്പെടേണ്ടതു എന്നു യഹോവയോടു ചോദിച്ചു.
2And Jehovah saith, `Judah doth go up; lo, I have given the land into his hand.`
2യെഹൂദാ പുറപ്പെടട്ടെ; ഞാന് ദേശം അവന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചു.
3And Judah saith to Simeon his brother, `Go up with me into my lot, and we fight against the Canaanite — and I have gone, even I, with thee into thy lot;` and Simeon goeth with him.
3യെഹൂദാ തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ശിമെയോനോടുഎന്റെ അവകാശദേശത്തു കനാന്യരോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്വാന് നീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരേണം; നിന്റെ അവകാശദേശത്തു നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഞാനും വരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ശിമെയോന് അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി.
4And Judah goeth up, and Jehovah giveth the Canaanite and the Perizzite into their hand, and they smite them in Bezek — ten thousand men;
4അങ്ങനെ യെഹൂദാ പുറപ്പെട്ടു; യഹോവ കനാന്യരെയും പെരിസ്യരെയും അവരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു; അവര് ബേസെക്കില്വെച്ചു അവരില് പതിനായിരംപോരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.
5and they find Adoni-Bezek in Bezek, and fight against him, and smite the Canaanite and the Perizzite.
5ബേസെക്കില്വെച്ചു അവര് അദോനി-ബേസെക്കിനെ കണ്ടു, അവനോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു കനാന്യരെയും പെരിസ്യരെയും സംഹരിച്ചു.
6And Adoni-Bezek fleeth, and they pursue after him, and seize him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes,
6എന്നാല് അദോനീ-ബേസെക് ഔടിപ്പോയി; അവര് അവനെ പിന്തുടര്ന്നു പിടിച്ചു അവന്റെ കൈകാലുകളുടെ പെരുവിരല് മുറിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
7and Adoni-Bezek saith, `Seventy kings — their thumbs and their great toes cut off — have been gathering under my table; as I have done so hath God repaid to me;` and they bring him in to Jerusalem, and he dieth there.

8And the sons of Judah fight against Jerusalem, and capture it, and smite it by the mouth of the sword, and the city they have sent into fire;

9and afterwards have the sons of Judah gone down to fight against the Canaanite, inhabiting the hill-country, and the south, and the low country;
9അതിന്റെ ശേഷം യെഹൂദാമക്കള് മലനാട്ടിലും തെക്കെ ദേശത്തിലും താഴ്വീതിയിലും പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന കനാന്യരോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്വാന് പോയി.
10and Judah goeth unto the Canaanite who is dwelling in Hebron (and the name of Hebron formerly [is] Kirjath-Arba), and they smite Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.
10യെഹൂദാ ഹെബ്രോനില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന കനാന്യരുടെ നേരെയും ചെന്നു; ഹെബ്രോന്നു പണ്ടു കിര്യ്യത്ത്-അബ്ബാ എന്നു പേര്. അവര് ശേശായി, അഹിമാന് , തല്മായി എന്നവരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.
11And he goeth thence unto the inhabitants of Debir (and the name of Debir formerly [is] Kirjath-Sepher),
11അവിടെ നിന്നു അവര് ദെബീര് നിവാസികളുടെ നേരെ ചെന്നു; ദെബീരിന്നു പണ്ടു കിര്യ്യത്ത്--സേഫെര് എന്നു പേര്.
12and Caleb saith, `He who smiteth Kirjath-Sepher — and hath captured it — then I have given to him Achsah my daughter for a wife.`
12അപ്പോള് കാലേബ്കിര്യ്യത്ത്--സേഫെര് ജയിച്ചടക്കുന്നവന്നു ഞാന് എന്റെ മകള് അക്സയെ ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
13And Othniel son of Kenaz, younger brother of Caleb, doth capture it, and he giveth to him Achsah his daughter for a wife.
13കാലേബിന്റെ അനുജനായ കെനസിന്റെ മകന് ഒത്നീയേല് അതു പിടിച്ചു; അവന് തന്റെ മകള് അക്സയെ അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു.
14And it cometh to pass in her coming in, that she persuadeth him to ask from her father the field, and she lighteth from off the ass, and Caleb saith to her, `What — to thee?`

15And she saith to him, `Give to me a blessing; when the south land thou hast given me — then thou hast given to me springs of water; and Caleb giveth to her the upper springs and the lower springs.
15അവള് അവനോടു ഒരു അനുഗ്രഹം എനിക്കു തരേണമേ; നീ എന്നെ തെക്കന് നാട്ടിലേക്കല്ലോ കൊടുത്തതു; നീരുറവുകളും എനിക്കു തരേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; കാലേബ് അവള്ക്കു മലയിലും താഴ്വരയിലും നീരുറവുകള് കൊടുത്തു.
16And the sons of the Kenite, father-in-law of Moses, have gone up out of the city of palms with the sons of Judah [to] the wilderness of Judah, which [is] in the south of Arad, and they go and dwell with the people.
16മോശെയുടെ അളിയനായ കേന്യന്റെ മക്കള് യെഹൂദാമക്കളോടുകൂടെ ഈന്തപ്പട്ടണത്തില്നിന്നു അരാദിന്നു തെക്കുള്ള യെഹൂദാ മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു പോയി; അവര് ചെന്നു ജനത്തോടുകൂടെ പാര്ത്തു.
17And Judah goeth with Simeon his brother, and they smite the Canaanite inhabiting Zephath, and devote it; and [one] calleth the name of the city Hormah.
17പിന്നെ യെഹൂദാ തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ശിമെയോനോടു കൂടെ പോയി, അവര് സെഫാത്തില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന കനാന്യരെ വെട്ടി അതിനെ നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കി; ആ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു ഹോര്മ്മ എന്നു പേര് ഇട്ടു.
18And Judah captureth Gaza and its border, and Askelon and its border, and Ekron and its border;
18യെഹൂദാ ഗസ്സയും അതിന്റെ അതിര്നാടും അസ്കലോനും അതിന്റെ അതിര്നാടും എക്രോനും അതിന്റെ അതിര്നാടും പിടിച്ചു.
19and Jehovah is with Judah, and he occupieth the hill-country, but not to dispossess the inhabitants of the valley, for they have chariots of iron.
19യഹോവ യെഹൂദയോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന് മലനാടു കൈവശമാക്കി; എന്നാല് താഴ്വരയിലെ നിവാസികള്ക്കു ഇരിമ്പുരഥങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവരെ നീക്കിക്കളവാന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.
20And they give to Caleb Hebron, as Moses hath spoken, and he dispossesseth thence the three sons of Anak.
20മോശെ കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അവര് കാലേബിന്നു ഹെബ്രോന് കൊടുത്തു; അവന് അവിടെനിന്നു അനാക്കിന്റെ മൂന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
21And the Jebusite, inhabiting Jerusalem, the sons of Benjamin have not dispossessed; and the Jebusite dwelleth with the sons of Benjamin, in Jerusalem, till this day.
21ബെന്യാമീന് മക്കള് യെരൂശലേമില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന യെബൂസ്യരെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞില്ല; യെബൂസ്യര് ഇന്നുവരെ ബെന്യാമീന് മക്കളോടു കൂടെ യെരൂശലേമില് പാര്ത്തുവരുന്നു.
22And the house of Joseph go up — even they — to Beth-El, and Jehovah [is] with them;
22യോസേഫിന്റെ ഗൃഹം ബേഥേലിലേക്കു കയറിച്ചെന്നു; യഹോവ അവരോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
23and the house of Joseph cause [men] to spy about Beth-El (and the name of the city formerly is Luz),
23യോസേഫിന്റെ ഗൃഹം ബേഥേല് ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാന് ആളയച്ചു; ആ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ ലൂസ് എന്നു പേരായിരുന്നു.
24and the watchers see a man coming out from the city, and say to him, `Shew us, we pray thee, the entrance of the city, and we have done with thee kindness.`
24പട്ടണത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവരുന്ന ഒരുത്തനെ ഒറ്റുകാര് കണ്ടു അവനോടുപട്ടണത്തില് കടപ്പാന് ഒരു വഴി കാണിച്ചു തരേണം; എന്നാല് ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നോടു ദയചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
25And he sheweth them the entrance of the city, and they smite the city by the mouth of the sword, and the man and all his family they have sent away;
25അവന് പട്ടണത്തില് കടപ്പാനുള്ള വഴി അവര്ക്കും കാണിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു; അവര് പട്ടണത്തെ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് വെട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു, ആ മനുഷ്യനെയും അവന്റെ സകലകുടുംബത്തെയും വിട്ടയച്ചു;
26and the man goeth to the land of the Hittites, and buildeth a city, and calleth its name Luz — it [is] its name unto this day.
26അവന് ഹിത്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു ചെന്നു ഒരു പട്ടണം പണിതു അതിന്നു ലൂസ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു; അതിന്നു ഇന്നുവരെ അതു തന്നേ പേര്.
27And Manasseh hath not occupied Beth-Shean and its towns, and Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Iblaim and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, and the Canaanite is desirous to dwell in that land;
27മനശ്ശെ ബേത്ത്--ശെയാനിലും അതിന്റെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും താനാക്കിലും അതിന്റെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും ദോരിലും അതിന്റെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും യിബ്ളെയാമിലും അതിന്റെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും മെഗിദ്ദോവിലും അതിന്റെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും പാര്ത്തിരുന്നവരെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞില്ല. കനാന്യര്ക്കും ആ ദേശത്തു തന്നേ പാര്പ്പാനുള്ള താല്പര്യം സാധിച്ചു.
28and it cometh to pass, when Israel hath been strong, that he setteth the Canaanite to tribute, and hath not utterly dispossessed it.
28എന്നാല് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ബലം കൂടിയപ്പോള് അവര് കന്യാന്യരെ മുഴുവനും നീക്കിക്കളയാതെ അവരെക്കൊണ്ടു ഊഴിയവേല ചെയ്യിച്ചു.
29And Ephraim hath not dispossessed the Canaanite who is dwelling in Gezer, and the Canaanite dwelleth in its midst, in Gezer.
29എഫ്രയീം ഗേസെരില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന കനാന്യരെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞില്ല; കനാന്യര് ഗേസെരില് അവരുടെ ഇടയില് പാര്ത്തു.
30Zebulun hath not dispossessed the inhabitants of Kitron, and the inhabitants of Nahalol, and the Canaanite dwelleth in its midst, and they become tributary.
30സെബൂലൂന് കിത്രോനിലും നഹലോലിലും പാര്ത്തിരുന്നവരെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞില്ല; കനാന്യര് ഊഴിയവേലക്കാരായിത്തീര്ന്നു അവരുടെ ഇടയില് പാര്ത്തു.
31Asher hath not dispossessed the inhabitants of Accho, and the inhabitants of Zidon, and Ahlab, and Achzib, and Helbah, and Aphik, and Rehob;
31ആശേര് അക്കോവിലും സീദോനിലും അഹ്ളാബിലും അക്സീബിലും ഹെല്ബയിലും അഫീക്കിലും രെഹോബിലും പാര്ത്തിരുന്നവരെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞില്ല.
32and the Asherite dwelleth in the midst of the Canaanite, the inhabitants of the land, for it hath not dispossessed them.
32അവരെ നീക്കിക്കളയാതെ ആശേര്യ്യര് ദേശനിവാസികളായ കനാന്യരുടെ ഇടയില് പാര്ത്തു.
33Naphtali hath not dispossessed the inhabitants of Beth-Shemesh, and the inhabitants of Beth-Anath, and he dwelleth in the midst of the Canaanite, the inhabitants of the land; and the inhabitants of Beth-Shemesh and of Beth-Anath have become tributary to them.
33നഫ്താലി ബേത്ത്--ശേമെശിലും ബേത്ത്--അനാത്തിലും പാര്ത്തിരുന്നവരെ നീക്കിക്കളയാതെ ദേശനിവാസികളായ കനാന്യരുടെ ഇടയില് പാര്ത്തു; എന്നാല് ബേത്ത്--ശേമെശിലെയും ബേത്ത്--അനാത്തിലെയും നിവാസികള് അവര്ക്കും ഊഴിയവേലക്കാരായിത്തിര്ന്നു.
34And the Amorites press the sons of Dan to the mountain, for they have not suffered them to go down to the valley;
34അമോര്യ്യര് ദാന് മക്കളെ തിക്കിത്തള്ളി മലനാട്ടില് കയറ്റി; താഴ്വരയിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങുവാന് അവരെ സമ്മതിച്ചതുമില്ല.
35and the Amorite is desirous to dwell in mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim, and the hand of the house of Joseph is heavy, and they become tributary;
35അങ്ങനെ അമേര്യ്യര്ക്കും ഹര്ഹേരെസിലും അയ്യാലോനിലും ശാല്ബീമിലും പാര്പ്പാനുള്ള താല്പര്യം സാധിച്ചു. എന്നാല് യോസേഫിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു ബലംകൂടിയപ്പോള് അവരെ ഊഴിയ വേലക്കാരാക്കിത്തീര്ത്തു.
36and the border of the Amorite [is] from the ascent of Akrabbim, from the rock and upward.
36അമോര്യ്യരുടെ അതിര് അക്രബ്ബിംകയറ്റവും സേലയും മുതല് പിന്നെയും മേലോട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
