1And Jehoshaphat his son reigneth in his stead, and he strengtheneth himself against Israel,
1आसाच्या जागी आता यहोशाफाट यहूदाचा राजा झाला. यहोशाफाट हा आसाचा मुलगा. इस्राएलला तोंड देता यावे म्हणून यहोशाफाटने यहूदाचे बळ वाढवले.
2and putteth a force in all the fenced cities of Judah, and putteth garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had captured.
2त्याने यहूदाच्या सर्व तटबंदीच्या नगरांमध्ये सैन्याच्या तुकड्या ठेवल्या. आसाने काबीज केलेल्या एफ्राइमच्या नगरांमध्ये तसेच यहूदामध्ये त्याने ठाणी बसवली.
3And Jehovah is with Jehoshaphat, for he hath walked in the first ways of David his father, and hath not sought to Baalim,
3यहोशाफाटला परमेश्वराचा पाठिंबा होता कारण लहान वयातच त्याने आपले पूर्वज दावीद यांच्यासारखी सत्कृत्ये केली होती. ते बाल देवतेच्या भजनी लागला नाही.
4for to the God of his father he hath sought, and in His commands he hath walked, and not according to the work of Israel.
4आपल्या पूर्वजांच्या देवालाच तो शरण गेला. परमेश्वराच्या आज्ञा त्याने पाळल्या. इतर इस्राएल लोकांसारखा तो वागला नाही.
5And Jehovah doth establish the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah give a present to Jehoshaphat, and he hath riches and honour in abundance,
5परमेश्वारने यहोशाफाटला यहूदाचा खंबीर राजा केले. यहूदा लोकांनी यहोशाफाटसाठी नजराणे आणले त्यामुळे त्याला धन तसेच मानसन्मान मिळाला.
6and his heart is high in the ways of Jehovah, and again he hath turned aside the high places and the shrines out of Judah.
6परमेश्वराच्या मार्गाने वाटचाल करण्यात यहोशाफाटचे मन रमले. यहूदा प्रांतातील उच्च स्थाने आणि अशेरा देवीचे खांब त्याने काढून टाकले.
7And in the third year of his reign he hath sent for his heads, for Ben-Hail, and for Obadiah, and for Zechariah, and for Nethaneel, and for Michaiah, to teach in cities of Judah,
7आपल्या राज्याच्या तिसऱ्या वर्षात त्याने सरदारांना नगरांमधून लोकांना शिकवण द्यायला पाठवले. बेन - हईक, ओबद्या, जखऱ्या, नखनेल आणि मीखाया हे ते सरदार होत.
8and with them the Levites, Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijath, and Tob-Adonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
8त्यांच्याबरोबर शमाया, नथन्या, जबद्या, असायेल, शामीरामोथ, यहोनाथान, अदोनीया, तोबीया आणि तोब अदोनीया या लेवींचीही त्याने रवानगी केली. अलीशामा व यहोराम हे याजकही त्याने पाठवले.
9And they teach in Judah, and with them [is] the Book of the Law of Jehovah, and they go round about into all cities of Judah, and teach among the people.
9हे सरदार, लेवी आणि याजक या सर्वांनी लोकांना शिकवले. परमेश्वराच्या नियमशास्त्राचे पुस्तक त्यांनी बरोबर घेतले होते. यहूदातल्या गावोगावी जाऊन ते लोकांना शिकवत गेले.
10And here is a fear of Jehovah on all kingdoms of the lands that [are] round about Judah, and they have not fought with Jehoshaphat;
10यहूदाच्या आसपासच्या देशांनी परमेश्वराची धास्ती घेतली होती. त्यामुळे त्यांनी यहोशाफाटवर स्वारी करुन युध्दाला तोंड फोडले नाही.
11and of the Philistines they are bringing in to Jehoshaphat a present, and tribute silver; also, the Arabians are bringing to him a flock, rams seven thousand an seven hundred, and he-goats seven thousand and seven hundred.
11काही पलिष्टे यहोशाफाटसाठी भेटी आणत. या राजाचे वर्चस्व ते जाणून असल्यामुळे रुपेही आणत. काही अरबी शेळ्या-मेंढ्या घेऊन येत. त्यांनी असे 7,700 मेंढे आणि 7,700 बोकड त्याला दिले.
12And Jehoshaphat is going on and becoming very great, and he buildeth in Judah palaces and cities of store,
12यहोशाफाटचे सामर्थ्य असे दिवसेंदिवस वाढत चालले. त्याने यहूदात किल्ले आणि कोठारे बांधली.
13and he hath much work in cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty of valour, [are] in Jerusalem.
13या कोठारांच्या गावामध्ये त्याने भरपूर साठा केला. यरुशलेममध्ये यहोशाफाटने चांगली लढाऊ माणसेही ठेवली.
14And these [are] their numbers, for the house of their fathers: Of Judah, heads of thousands, Adnah the head, and with him mighty ones of valour, three hundred chiefs.
14आपापल्या घराण्यांप्रमाणे त्यांची गणती झालेली होती. ती पुढीलप्रमाणे: यहूदातील सरदार असे: अदना हा 3,00,000 सैनिकांचा सेनापती होता.
15And at his hand [is] Jehohanan the head, and with him two hundred and eighty chiefs.
15यहोहानानच्या हाताखाली 280,000 सैनिक होते.
16And at his hand [is] Amasiah son of Zichri, who is willingly offering himself to Jehovah, and with him two hundred chiefs, mighty of valour.
16जिख्रीचा मुलगा अमस्या हा त्या खालोखाल 2,00,000 जणांचा मुख्य होता. त्याने आपणहून परमेश्वराच्या सेवेला वाहून घेतले होते.
17And of Benjamin: mighty of valour, Eliada, and with him, armed with bow and shield, two hundred chiefs.
17बन्यामिनांच्या वंशातील सरदार असे: एल्यादाच्या अखत्यारीत 2,00,000 सैनिक धनुष्यबाण आणि ढाली वापरण्यात तरबेज होते. एल्यादा हा एक अतिशय शूर योध्दा होता.
18And at his hand [is] Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty chiefs, armed ones of the host.
18यहोजाबादकडे युध्दसज्ज असे 1,80,000 जण होते.
19These [are] those serving the king, apart from those whom the king put in the cities of fortress, in all Judah.
19ही सर्व फौज राजा यहोशाफाट याच्या सेवेत होती. या खेेरीज यहूदाभरच्या नगरांमधील किल्ल्यांवर त्याने माणसे नेमली होती.
