1These [are] the words which Moses hath spoken unto all Israel, beyond the Jordan, in the wilderness, in the plain over-against Suph, between Paran and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Di-Zahab;

2eleven days` from Horeb, the way of mount Seir, unto Kadesh-Barnea.
2होरेबा (सिनाई) पासून कादेश - बर्ण्यापर्यंतची वाट सेईर डोंगरांच्या मागे फक्त अकरा दिवसांची आहे.
3And it cometh to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first of the month hath Moses spoken unto the sons of Israel according to all that Jehovah hath commanded him concerning them;
3पण इस्राएलांनी मिसर सोडले आणि ते या जागी आले याला चाळीस वर्षे लागली. तेव्हा चाळीसाव्या वर्षाच्या अकराव्या महिन्यातील पहिल्या दिवशी मोशे इस्राएल लोकांशी हे बोलला. परमेश्वराने जे जे काही सांगायची आज्ञा केली होती; ते सर्व र्त्यंने सांगितले.
4after his smiting Sihon king of the Amorite who is dwelling in Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan who is dwelling in Ashtaroth in Edrei,
4अमोऱ्यांचा राजा सीहोन आणि बाशानचा राजा ओग यांना परमेश्वराने ठार मारल्यानंतरची ही गोष्ट आहे. (सीहोन अमोरी लोकांचा राजा होता. तो हेशबोनमध्ये राहात असे. ओग बाशानचा राजा होता. तो अष्टेरोथ व एद्रई येथे राहाणारा होता.)
5beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, hath Moses begun to explain this law, saying:
5परमेश्वराच्या आज्ञेप्रमाणे मोशे आता यार्देनच्या पूर्वेला मवाबच्या देशात नियमशास्त्राचे विवरण करु लागला.
6`Jehovah our God hath spoken unto us in Horeb, saying, Enough to you — of dwelling in this mount;
6“मोशे म्हणाला, आपला देव परमेश्वर होरेबात (सिनाई) आपल्याशी बोलला. त्याने सांगितले, ‘या डोंगरातील तुमचे वास्तव्य आता पुरे झाले.
7turn ye and journey for you, and enter the mount of the Amorite, and unto all its neighbouring places, in the plain, in the hill-country, and in the low country, and in the south, and in the haven of the sea, the land of the Canaanite, and of Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Phrat;
7आता तुम्ही इथून अमोऱ्यांच्या डोंगराळ प्रदेशात जा. आसपासच्या सर्व प्रदेशात प्रवास करा. यार्देनेच्या खोऱ्यात, अराबांच्या पहाडी प्रदेशात, पश्चिमेकडील उतारावर, नेगेवमध्ये समुद्रकिनारी जा. कनान आणि लबानोन मार्गे फरात या महानदीपर्यंत जा.
8see, I have set before you the land; go in and possess the land which Jehovah hath sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them, and to their seed after them.
8पाहा हा प्रदेश मी तुम्हाला देऊ करत आहे. जा आणि त्यावर ताबा मिळवा. अब्राहाम, इसहाक आणि याकोब या तुमच्या पूर्वजांना व त्यांच्यानंतर त्यांच्या वंशजांना हा प्रदेश देण्याचे मी वचन दिले होते.”‘
9`And I speak unto you at that time, saying, I am not able by myself to bear you;
9मोशे पुढे म्हणाला, “तेव्हा मी तुम्हाला सांगितले होते की मी एकटा तुमचा सांभाळ करु शकणार नाही.
10Jehovah your God hath multiplied you, and lo, ye [are] to-day as the stars of the heavens for multitude;
10आणि आता तर तुमची संख्या कितीतरी वाढली आहे. परमेश्वर देवाच्या कृपेने ती वाढून आकाशातील ताऱ्यांइतकी झाली आहे.
11Jehovah, God of your fathers, is adding to you, as ye [are], a thousand times, and doth bless you as He hath spoken to you.
11तुमच्या पूर्वजांचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याच्या कृपेने ती आणखी वाढून आत्ताच्या हजारपट होवो आणि त्याने कबूल केल्याप्रमाणे त्याचा आशीर्वाद तुम्हाला मिळो.
12`How do I bear by myself your pressure, and your burden, and your strife?
12पण मी एकटा तुमचा सांभाळ करायला तसेच तुमची आपापसांतली भांडणे सोडवायला असमर्थ आहे.
13Give for yourselves men, wise and intelligent, and known to your tribes, and I set them for your heads;
13म्हणून मी तुम्हाला सांगितले, ‘आपापल्या वंशातून अनुभवी, ज्ञानी व समंजस व्यक्तींची निवड करा. मी त्यांना प्रमुख म्हणून नेमतो.’.
14and ye answer me and say, Good [is] the thing which thou hast spoken — to do.
14“त्यावर ‘हे चांगलेच झाले’ असे तुम्ही म्हणालात.
15`And I take the heads of your tribes, men, wise and known, and I appoint them heads over you, princes of thousands, and princes of hundreds, and princes of fifties, and princes of tens, and authorities, for your tribes.
15“म्हणून मी त्या ज्ञानी व अनुभवी व्यक्तींना तुमचे प्रमुख म्हणून नेमले. हजारांच्या समूहावर एक अधिकारी, शंभरांवर एक, पन्नासावर, दहावर तसेच घराण्यावर अशा या अधिकाऱ्यांच्या नेमणुका केल्या.
16And I command your judges at that time, saying, Hearkening between your brethren — then ye have judged righteousness between a man, and his brother, and his sojourner;
16“या न्यायाधीशांना मी त्यावेळी सांगितले की तुमच्या भाऊबंदांतील वाद नीट ऐकून घ्या. निवाडा करताना पक्षपात करु नका. मग तो वाद दोन इस्राएलींमधला असो की एक इस्राएली व एक उपरा यांच्यातील असो. नीतीने न्याय करा.
17ye do not discern faces in judgment; as the little so the great ye do hear; ye are not afraid of the face of any, for the judgment is God`s, and the thing which is too hard for you, ye bring near unto me, and I have heard it;
17कोणालाही कमी अधिक लेखू नका. सर्वांना समान लेखा. कोणाचीही भीती बाळगू नका. कारण तुम्ही दिलेला न्याय हा देवाचा आहे. एखादे प्रकरण तुम्हाला विशेष अवघड वाटले तर ते माझ्याकडे आणा. मी त्याचा निवाडा करीन.
18and I command you, at that time, all the things which ye do.
18तुमच्या इतर कर्तव्यांबद्दलही मी तेव्हाच तुम्हांला सांगितले होते. कनानात पाठवलेले हेर
19`And we journey from Horeb, and go [through] all that great and fearful wilderness which ye have seen — the way of the hill-country of the Amorite, as Jehovah our God hath commanded us, and we come in unto Kadesh-Barnea.
19“मग आपला देव परमेश्वर ह्याच्या आज्ञेनुसार आपण होरेबहून पुढे अमोऱ्यांच्या डोंगराळ प्रदेशाकडे निघालो. तेव्हा वाटेत आपल्याला ते विस्तीर्ण आणि भयंकर वाळवंट लागले. ते ओलांडून आपण कादेश-बर्ण्याला पोचलो.
20`And I say unto you, Ye have come in unto the hill-country of the Amorite, which Jehovah our God is giving to us;
20तिथे मी तुम्हाला म्हणालो की पाहा, अमोऱ्यांच्या पहाडी प्रदेशात तुम्ही पोचलात. आपला देव परमेश्वर तुम्हाला हा प्रदेश देणार आहे.
21see, Jehovah thy God hath set before thee the land; go up, possess, as Jehovah, God of thy fathers, hath spoken to thee; fear not, nor be affrighted.
21हा प्रदेश तुमचाच आहे. तुमच्या पूर्वजांचा परमेश्वर ह्याच्या आज्ञेनुसार तो हस्तगत करा. कचरु नका व कशाचीही भीती बाळगू नका.
22`And ye come near unto me, all of you, and say, Let us send men before us, and they search for us the land, and they bring us back word [concerning] the way in which we go up into it, and the cities unto which we come in;
22पण तेव्हा तुम्ही सगळे मला म्हणालात की, आधी आपण काही जणांना त्या प्रदेशाच्या पाहाणीसाठी पुढे पाठवू. म्हणजे ते त्या देशाची माहिती मिळवून आपल्याला कोणत्या मार्गाने जावे लागेल, कोणकोणती नगरे तेथे लागतील याची खबर आणतील.
23and the thing is good in mine eyes, and I take of you twelve men, one man for a tribe.
23“मलाही ते पटले. म्हणून प्रत्येक घराण्यातून एक अशी बारा माणसे मी निवडली.
24`And they turn and go up to the hill-country, and come in unto the valley of Eshcol, and spy it,
24ते लोक मग निघाले व पहाडी प्रदेशात जाऊन अष्कोल ओढ्यापर्यंत पोचले. त्यांनी तो देश हेरला.
25and they take with their hand of the fruit of the land, and bring down unto us, and bring us back word, and say, Good is the land which Jehovah our God is giving to us.
25येताना त्यांनी तिकडे होणारी काही फळे बरोबर आणली. त्या प्रदेशाची माहित्ती सांगितली व ते म्हणाले की, आपला देव परमेश्वर देत असलेला हा भूभाग उत्तम आहे.
26`And ye have not been willing to go up, and ye provoke the mouth of Jehovah your God,
26“पण तुम्ही तेथे जायचे नाकारलेत. आपला देव परमेश्वर याच्या आज्ञेविरुद्ध बंड केलेत.
27and murmur in your tents, and say, In Jehovah`s hating us He hath brought us out of the land of Egypt, to give us into the hand of the Amorite — to destroy us;
27तुम्ही आपापल्या तंबूत जाऊन कुरकुर करत म्हणालात की परमेश्वर आमचा द्वेष करतो. अमोऱ्यांच्या हातून आमचा नाश व्हावा म्हणूनच आम्हाला त्याने मिसर देशातून बाहेर काढले.
28whither are we going up? our brethren have melted our heart, saying, A people greater and taller than we, cities great and fenced to heaven, and also sons of Anakim — we have seen there.
28आता आम्ही कुठे जाणार? आमच्या या भावांच्या (12 हेरांच्या) बातम्यांमुळे घाबरुन आमच्या तोंडचे पाणी पळाले आहे. त्यांच्या खबरीनुसार हे लोक धिप्पाड व आमच्यापेक्षा उंच आहेत. तेथील नगरे मोठी असून त्यांची तटबंदी आकाशाला भिडली आहे. आणि तेथे अनाक वंशी महाकाय आहेत.
29`And I say unto you, Be not terrified, nor be afraid of them;
29“तेव्हा मी तुम्हाला म्हणालो की हताश होऊ नका. त्या लोकांना घाबरु नका.
30Jehovah your God, who is going before you — He doth fight for you, according to all that He hath done with you in Egypt before your eyes,
30स्वत: परमेश्वर देव तुमचा पाठिराखा आहे. मिसर देशात तुमच्यादेखत त्याने जे केले तेच तो येथेही करील. तुमच्यासाठी लढेल.
31and in the wilderness, where thou hast seen that Jehovah thy God hath borne thee as a man beareth his son, in all the way which ye have gone, till your coming in unto this place.
31तिकडे तसेच या रानातल्या वाटचालीतही, माणूस आपल्या मुलाला जपून नेतो तसे त्याने तुम्हांला येथपर्यंत सांभाळून आणले.
32`And in this thing ye are not stedfast in Jehovah your God,
32“तरीही तुम्ही आपल्या परमेश्वर देवावर विश्वास ठेवला नाही.
33who is going before you in the way to search out to you a place for your encamping, in fire by night, to shew you in the way in which ye go, and in a cloud by day.
33प्रवासात तो तुमच्यासाठी मुक्कामाचे ठिकाण शोधायला तसेच रात्री अग्नीत व दिवसा मेघात प्रकट होऊन तुम्हाला मार्गदर्शन करायला तुमच्यापुढे चालत असे.
34`And Jehovah heareth the voice of your words, and is wroth, and sweareth, saying,
34“परमेश्वराने तुमचे बोलणे ऐकले व तो संतापला. कठोरपणे शपथपूर्वक तो म्हणाला,
35Not one of these men of this evil generation doth see the good land which I have sworn to give to your fathers,
35‘तुमच्या पूर्वजांना कबूल केलेला हा उत्तम प्रदेश या कृतन्घ पिढीतील एकाच्याही दृष्टीस पडणार नाही.
36save Caleb son of Jephunneh — he doth see it, and to him I give the land on which he hath trodden, and to his sons, because that he hath been fully after Jehovah.
36यफुन्नेचा मुलगा कालेब मात्र तो पाहील. त्याचे पाय या भूमीला लागले आहेत. त्याला व त्याच्या वंशजांना मी ही भूमी देईल. कारण तो परमेश्वराचा खरा अनुयायी आहे.’
37`Also with me hath Jehovah been angry for your sake, saying, Also, thou dost not go in thither;
37“तुमच्यामुळे परमेश्वराचा माझ्यावरही कोप झाला. तो म्हणाला, ‘मोशे, तूही या प्रदेशात प्रवेश करणार नाहीस.
38Joshua son of Nun, who is standing before thee, he goeth in thither; him strengthen thou; for he doth cause Israel to inherit.
38पण तुझ्या सेवेस हजर राहणारा, नूनाचा मुलगा यहोशवा तेथे जाईल. त्याला तू प्रोत्साहन दे कारण इस्राएलांना तोच देश वतन म्हणून मिळवून देईल.’
39`And your infants, of whom ye have said, For a prey they are, and your sons who have not known to-day good and evil, they go in thither, and to them I give it, and they possess it;
39“परमेश्वर पुढे आपल्याला म्हणाला, ‘शिवाय आपले शत्रू आपल्या मुलाबाळांना पळवतील असे तुम्ही म्हणालात. ती मात्र या देशात जातील. मी मुलांवर तुमच्या चुकांचे खापर फोडत नाही. कारण बरे वाईट ठरविण्याइतकी ती मोठी नाहीत.
40and ye, turn for yourselves, and journey toward the wilderness, the way of the Red Sea.
40पण तुम्ही - तुम्ही मात्र परत फिरुन तांबड्या समुद्राच्या वाटेने रानाकडे कूच करा.’
41`And ye answer and say unto me, We have sinned against Jehovah; we — we go up, and we have fought, according to all that which Jehovah our God hath commanded us; and ye gird on each his weapons of war, and ye are ready to go up into the hill-country;
41“मग तुम्ही मला म्हणालात की आमच्या हातून पाप घडले आहे. आपल्या परमेश्वर देवाच्या आज्ञेनुसार आम्ही वर जाऊन लढू. मग तुम्ही शस्त्रास्त्रे घेऊन सज्ज झालात. तो डोंगराळ भाग सर करणे सहज जमेल असे तुम्हांला वाटले.
42and Jehovah saith unto me, Say to them, Ye do not go up, nor fight, for I am not in your midst, and ye are not smitten before your enemies.
42“पण परमेश्वर मला म्हणाला, ‘त्यांना तेथे जाऊन युद्ध करण्यापासून परावृत कर. कारण मी त्यांच्या बाजूचा नाही. शत्रू त्यांना पराभूत करेल.’
43`And I speak unto you, and ye have not hearkened, and provoke the mouth of Jehovah, and act proudly, and go up into the hill-country;
43“त्याप्रमाणे मी त्यांना सांगितले. पण तुम्ही ऐकले नाही. तुम्ही परमेश्वराची आज्ञा पाळली नाहीत. आणि धिटाई करुन त्या डोंगराळ प्रदेशात चढून गेलात.
44and the Amorite who is dwelling in that hill-country cometh out to meet you, and they pursue you as the bees do, and smite you in Seir — unto Hormah.
44तेव्हा तेथील अमोरी तुमच्याशी सामना करायला सामोरे आले. आणि चवताळलेल्या मधमाश्यांप्रमाणे त्यांनी सेईर देशातील हर्मापर्यंत तुम्हाला पिटाळून लावले.
45`And ye turn back and weep before Jehovah, and Jehovah hath not hearkened to your voice, nor hath he given ear unto you;
45मग तुम्ही परत येऊन परमेश्वराकडे मदतीसाठी याचना केलीत. पण त्याने तुमचे काहीही ऐकले नाही.
46and ye dwell in Kadesh many days, according to the days which ye had dwelt.
46तेव्हा तुम्ही कादेश येथे बरेच दिवस राहिलात.
