1`There is not to the priests the Levites — all the tribe of Levi — a portion and inheritance with Israel; fire-offerings of Jehovah, even His inheritance, they eat,
1“लेवी वंशातील लोकांना इस्राएलमध्ये जमिनीत वाटा मिळणार नाही. ते याजक म्हणून काम करतील. परमेश्वरासाठी अग्नीत अर्पण केलेल्या बलींवर त्यांनी निर्वाह करावा. तोच त्यांचा वाटा.
2and he hath no inheritance in the midst of his brethren; Jehovah Himself [is] his inheritance, as He hath spoken to him.
2इतर वंशांप्रमाणे लेवींना जमिनीत वाटा नाही. परमेश्वराने सांगितल्याप्रमाणे खुद्द परमेश्वरच त्यांचा वाटा आहे.
3`And this is the priest`s right from the people, from those sacrificing a sacrifice, whether ox or sheep, he hath even given to the priest the leg, and the two cheeks, and the stomach;
3“यज्ञासाठी गोऱ्हा किंवा मेंढरु मारताना त्या जनावराचा खांद्याचा भाग, गालफडे व कोथळा याजकाला द्यावा.
4the first of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy flock, thou dost give to him;
4धान्य, नवीन द्राक्षारस व तेल या आपल्या उत्पन्नातील पहिला वाटाही त्यांना द्यावा. तसेच मेंढरांची पहिल्यांदा कातरलेली लोकरही लेवींना द्यावी.
5for on him hath Jehovah thy God fixed, out of all thy tribes, to stand to serve in the name of Jehovah, He and his sons continually.
5कारण तुम्हा सर्वांमधून लेवी व त्याच्या वंशजांना तुमचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याने आपल्या निरंतर सेवेसाठी निवडून घेतले आहे.
6`And when the Levite cometh from one of thy cities out of all Israel, where he hath sojourned, and hath come with all the desire of his soul unto the place which Jehovah doth choose,
6“प्रत्येक लेवीच्या मंदिरातील सेवेच्या ठराविक वेळा असतील. पण दुसऱ्या कुठल्या वेळेला त्याला काम करायचे असल्यास तो करु शकतो. इस्राएलमध्ये कुठल्याही नगरात राहणारा कुणीही लेवी घर सोडून परमेश्वराच्या पवित्र निवासस्थानी येऊ शकतो. हे केव्हाही करायची त्याला मुभा आहे.
7then he hath ministered in the name of Jehovah his God, like all his brethren, the Levites, who are standing there before Jehovah,
7आपल्या इतर बांधवांप्रमाणे त्यानेही तेथे सेवा करावी.
8portion as portion they do eat, apart from his sold things, with the fathers.
8त्याला इतरांप्रमाणेच वाटा मिळेल. शिवाय आपल्या कुटुंबाच्या उत्पन्नात त्याचा वाटा असेलच.
9`When thou art coming in unto the land which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee, thou dost not learn to do according to the abominations of those nations:
9“तुमचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याने दिलेल्या या प्रदेशात राहायला जाल तेव्हा तिकडच्या राष्ट्रातील लोकांप्रमाणे भयंकर कृत्ये करु नका.
10there is not found in thee one causing his son and his daughter to pass over into fire, a user of divinations, an observer of clouds, and an enchanter, and a sorcerer,
10आपल्या पोटच्या मुलाबाळांचा यज्ञाची वेदीवर बळी देऊ नका. ज्योतिषी, चेटूक करणारा, मांत्रिक यांच्या नादी लागू नका.
11and a charmer, and one asking at a familiar spirit, and a wizard, and one seeking unto the dead.
11वशीकरण करणाऱ्याला थारा देऊ नका. मध्यस्थ, मांत्रिक तुमच्यापैकी कोणी बनू नये. मृतात्म्याशी संवाद करणारा असू नये.
12`For the abomination of Jehovah [is] every one doing these, and because of these abominations is Jehovah thy God dispossessing them from thy presence.
12अशा गोष्टी करणाऱ्यांचा तुमचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याला तिरस्कार आहे. म्हणून तर तो इतर राष्ट्रांना तुमच्या वाटेतून बाजूला करत आहे.
13Perfect thou art with Jehovah thy God,
13तुमचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याच्याशी विश्वासू असा.
14for these nations whom thou art possessing, unto observers of clouds, and unto diviners, do hearken; and thou — not so hath Jehovah thy God suffered thee.
14“इतर राष्ट्रांना आपल्या भूमीतून हुसकावून लावा. ते लोक मांत्रिक, चेटूककरणारे अशांच्या नादी लागणारे आहेत. पण तुमचा देव परमेश्वर तुम्हाला तसे करु देणार नाही.
15`A prophet out of thy midst, out of thy brethren, like to me, doth Jehovah thy God raise up to thee — unto him ye hearken;
15तो तुमच्यासाठी संदेष्ट्याला पाठवील. तुमच्यामधूनच तो उदयाला येईल. तो माझ्यासारखा असेल. त्याचे तुम्ही ऐका.
16according to all that thou didst ask from Jehovah thy God, in Horeb, in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not add to hear the voice of Jehovah my God, and this great fire let me not see any more, and I die not;
16तुमच्या सांगण्यावरुनच देव असे करत आहे. होरेब पर्वताशी तुम्ही सर्व जमलेले असताना तुम्हाला या पर्वतावरील अग्नीची आणि देववाणीची भीती वाटली होती. तेव्हा तुम्ही म्हणालात, ‘पुन्हा हा आमचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याचा आवाज आमच्या कानी न पडो. तसा अग्नीही पुन्हा दृष्टीस न पडो, नाहीतर खचितच आम्ही मरु.!’
17and Jehovah saith unto me, They have done well that they have spoken;
17“तेव्हा परमेश्वर मला म्हणाला, ‘यांचे म्हणणे ठिकच आहे.
18a prophet I raise up to them, out of the midst of their brethren, like to thee; and I have given my words in his mouth, and he hath spoken unto them all that which I command him;
18मी यांच्यामधूनच तुझ्यासारखा एक संदेष्टा उभा करीन. माझी वचने त्याच्या मुखाने ऐकवीन. माझ्या आज्ञेप्रमाणे तो लोकांशी बोलेल.
19and it hath been — the man who doth not hearken unto My words which he doth speak in My name, I require [it] of him.
19हा संदेष्टा माझ्या वतीने बोलेल. तेव्हा जो कोणी ते ऐकणार नाही त्याला मी शासन करीन.’
20`Only, the prophet who presumeth to speak a word in My name — that which I have not commanded him to speak — and who speaketh in the name of other gods — even that prophet hath died.
20“पण हा संदेष्टा मी न सांगितलेले ही काही माझ्या वतीन बोलला, तर त्याला मृत्युदंड दिला पाहिजे. इतर दैवतांच्या वतीने बोलणारा संदेष्टाही कदाचित् निपजेल. त्यालाही ठार मारले पाहिजे.
21`And when thou sayest in thy heart, How do we know the word which Jehovah hath not spoken? —
21तुम्ही म्हणाल की अमुक वचन परमेश्वराचे नव्हे हे आम्हाला कसे कळणार?
22that which the prophet speaketh in the name of Jehovah, and the thing is not, and cometh not — it [is] the word which Jehovah hath not spoken; in presumption hath the prophet spoken it; — thou art not afraid of him.
22तर, परमेश्वराच्या वतीने म्हणून तो संदेष्टा काही बोलला व ते प्रत्येक्षात उतरले नाही तर समजा की ते परमेश्वराचे बोलणे नव्हे, तो संदेष्टा स्वत:चेच विचार बोलून दाखवत होता. त्याला तुम्ही घाबरायचे कारण नाही.
