¹And Jehovah hath looked after Sarah as He hath said, and Jehovah doth to Sarah as He hath spoken;

¹परमेश्वराने साराला दिलेले वचन पाळले व पूर्ण केले.

²and Sarah conceiveth, and beareth a son to Abraham, to his old age, at the appointed time that God hath spoken of with him;

²सारा गरोदर राहिली आणि अब्राहामाच्या म्हातारपणी तिने त्याला मुलगा दिला. ह्या सगळ्या गोष्टी परमेश्वराने वचन दिल्याप्रमाणे अगदी जशाच्या तशाच घडून आल्या.

³and Abraham calleth the name of his son who is born to him, whom Sarah hath born to him — Isaac;

³अब्राहामापासून साराला मुलगा झाला आणि त्याने त्याचे नाव इसहाक ठेवले.

⁴and Abraham circumciseth Isaac his son, [being] a son of eight days, as God hath commanded him.

⁴परमेश्वराच्या आज्ञेप्रमाणे अब्राहामाने इसहाक आठ दिवसांचा झाल्यावर त्याची सुंता केली.

⁵And Abraham [is] a son of a hundred years in Isaac his son being born to him,

⁵इसहाक जन्मला तेव्हा अब्राहाम शंभर वर्षांचा होता.

⁶and Sarah saith, `God hath made laughter for me; every one who is hearing laugheth for me.`

⁶आणि सारा म्हणाली, “परमेश्वर देवाने मला हास्य म्हणजे आनंदीआनंद दिला आहे. ज्या कोणाला हे समजेल त्या प्रत्येकाला माइयाबरोबर आनंद होईल.

⁷She saith also, `Who hath said to Abraham, Sarah hath suckled sons, that I have born a son for his old age?`

⁷मला आता ह्या वयात अब्राहामापासून मूल होईल असे कोणाला वाटले असते काय? परंतु अब्राहाम म्हातारा झाला असताना देखील मी त्यास मुलगा दिला आहे.”

⁸And the lad groweth, and is weaned, and Abraham maketh a great banquet in the day of Isaac`s being weaned;

⁸इसहाक वाढत राहिला, तो दुधाऐवजी जेवण घेण्याइतक्या वयाचा झाला तेव्हा त्याचे दूध तोडण्याच्या प्रसंगी अब्राहामाने मोठी मेजवानी दिली.

⁹and Sarah seeth the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she hath borne to Abraham, mocking,

⁹ह्याच्या आधी साराची मिसर देशाची दासी हागार हिने अब्राहामापासून एका मुलाला जन्म दिला होता; अब्राहाम त्याचाही बाप होता. परंतु आता साराने पाहिले की तो आधीचा मुलगा इसहाकाला चिडवत होता.

¹⁰and she saith to Abraham, `Cast out this handmaid and her son; for the son of this handmaid hath no possession with my son — with Isaac.`

¹⁰तेव्हा सारा अब्राहामाला म्हणाली, “त्या दासीला व तिच्या मुलाला येथून बाहेर घालवून द्या; आपल्या मरणानंतर आपल्या मालमत्तेचा वारस इसहाक होईल; या दासीचा मुलगा इसहाकाबरोबर आपल्या मालमत्तेचा वाटेकरी व तुमचा वारस होणार नाही.”

¹¹And the thing is very wrong in the eyes of Abraham, for his son`s sake;

¹¹ह्या गोष्टीमुळे अब्राहामाला वाईट वाटले व त्याला इश्माएलाची चिंता वाटू लागली;

¹²and God saith unto Abraham, `Let it not be wrong in thine eyes because of the youth, and because of thy handmaid: all that Sarah saith unto thee — hearken to her voice, for in Isaac is a seed called to thee.

¹²परंतु देव अब्राहामाला म्हणाला, “त्या मुलाबद्दल बिलकूल चिंता करु नकोस, तसेच त्या दासीचीही चिंता करु नकोस. साराच्या इच्छेप्रमाणे कर. इसहाकच तुझा एकटाच वारस होईल.

¹³As to the son of the handmaid also, for a nation I set him, because he [is] thy seed.`

¹³परंतु मी त्या दासीच्या मुलालाही आशीर्वाद देईन; तो तुझा मुलगा आहे म्हणून त्याच्या कुटुंबांपासूनही मी एक मोठे राष्ट्र निर्माण करीन.”

¹⁴And Abraham riseth early in the morning, and taketh bread, and a bottle of water, and giveth unto Hagar (placing [it] on her shoulder), also the lad, and sendeth her out; and she goeth on, and goeth astray in the wilderness of Beer-Sheba;

¹⁴दुसऱ्या दिवशी सकाळी अब्राहामाने भाकरी व पाण्याची पिशवी आणून हागारेला दिली; ती शिदोरी व आपला मुलगा घेऊन हागार तेथून निघाली आणि अब्राहामाने तिची रवानगी केली; हागार तेथून निघून बैर - शेबाच्या वाळवंटात भटकत राहिली.

¹⁵and the water is consumed from the bottle, and she placeth the lad under one of the shrubs.

¹⁵काही वेळाने पिशवीतील सर्व पाणी संपले, एक थेंबही पिण्यासाठी राहिला नाही; तेव्हा हागारेने आपल्या मुलाला एका झुडपाखाली ठेवले;

¹⁶And she goeth and sitteth by herself over-against, afar off, about a bow-shot, for she said, `Let me not look on the death of the lad;` and she sitteth over-against, and lifteth up her voice, and weepeth.

¹⁶आणि तेथून काही अंतर ती चालून गेली व थांबून तेथे बसली. आपला मुलगा पाण्यावाचून मरेल असे तिला वाटले; त्याचा मृत्यू आपल्याला पाहवणार नाही असे समजून ती तेथे दूर अंतरावर बसली, व हंबरडा फोडून रडू लागली.

¹⁷And God heareth the voice of the youth; and the messenger of God calleth unto Hagar from the heavens, and saith to her, `What to thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath hearkened unto the voice of the youth where he [is];

¹⁷देवाने मुलाच्या रडण्याचा आवाज ऐकला; आणि देवाचा दूत स्वर्गातून हागारेला हाक मारुन म्हणाला, “हागारे, तुला काय झाले? भिऊ नकोस; तुझ्या मुलाचे रडणे परमेश्वराने ऐकले आहे

¹⁸rise, lift up the youth, and lay hold on him with thy hand, for for a great nation I set him.`

¹⁸ऊठ मुलाला उचलून घे; त्याचा हात धर व त्याला घेऊन पुढे चल; मी त्याच्या पासून एक मोठे राष्ट्र निर्माण करीन.”

¹⁹And God openeth her eyes, and she seeth a well of water, and she goeth and filleth the bottle [with] water, and causeth the youth to drink;

¹⁹मग देवाने हागारेला पाण्याची विहीर दिसू दिली. तेव्हा हागार त्या विहिरीपाशी गेली आणि तिने मसक पाण्याने भरली, नंतर आपल्या तहानलेल्या मुलाला तिने पाणी पाजिले.

²⁰and God is with the youth, and he groweth, and dwelleth in the wilderness, and is an archer;

²⁰तो मुलगा वाढत असताना देव सतत त्याच्याबरोबर राहिला; इश्माएल वाळवंटात लहानाचा मोठा होऊन शिकारी झाला; तो धनुष्यबाण मारावयास शिकला व तरबेज तिरंदाज झाला;

²¹and he dwelleth in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother taketh for him a wife from the land of Egypt.

²¹नंतर त्याच्या आईने त्याला मिसर देशातील मुलगी बायको करुन दिली. ते पारानच्या वाळवंटात राहिले.

²²And it cometh to pass at that time that Abimelech speaketh — Phichol also, head of his host — unto Abraham, saying, `God [is] with thee in all that thou art doing;

²²त्यानंतर अबीमलेख व त्याचा सेनापति पीकोल यांनी अब्राहामाशी बोलणी केली; ते अब्राहामास म्हणाले, “तू जे काही करतोस त्यात देव तुझ्याबरोबर असतो;

²³and now, swear to me by God here: thou dost not lie to me, or to my continuator, or to my successor; according to the kindness which I have done with thee thou dost with me, and with the land in which thou hast sojourned.`

²³तेव्हा आता देवासमोर येथे मला वचन दे की तू माझ्याशी व माझ्यामागे माझ्या संतानाशी न्यायनीतीने वागशील असा माझ्याशी करार कर; तू माझ्याशी व ज्या ह्या माझ्या देशात तू राहिलास त्या देशाशी दयाळूपणे राहशील, असे वचन दे, तसेच मी जसा तुझ्याशी दयाळूपणाने वागलो तसाच तूही माझ्याशी दयाळूपणाने राहशील असे वचन तू मला दे, व असा करार तू माझ्याशी कर.”

²⁴And Abraham saith, `I — I do swear.`

²⁴आणि अब्राहाम म्हणाला, “मी असे वचन देतो की जसा तू माझ्याशी दयाळूपणे वागलास तसाच मी ही तुझ्याशी वागेन.”

²⁵And Abraham reasoned with Abimelech concerning the matter of a well of water which Abimelech`s servants have taken violently away,

²⁵मग अबीमलेखाच्या सेवकांनी पाण्याची विहीर बळकावली म्हणून अब्राहामाने अबीमलेखाकडे तक्रार केली.

²⁶and Abimelech saith, `I have not known who hath done this thing, and even thou didst not declare to me, and I also, I have not heard save to-day.`

²⁶परंतु अबीमलेख म्हणाला, “असे कोणी केले आहे ते मला माहीत नाही. ह्या पूर्वी तू हे मला कधीही सांगितले नाहीस”

²⁷And Abraham taketh sheep and oxen, and giveth to Abimelech, and they make, both of them, a covenant;

²⁷अशा रीतीने अब्राहाम व अबीमलेख यांनी आपसात करार केला. अब्राहामाने अबीमलेखाला काही मेंढरे व बैल, कराराचा पुरावा म्हणून दिले;

²⁸and Abraham setteth seven Lambs of the flock by themselves.

²⁸अब्राहामाने अबीमलेखा पुढे मेंढ्याच्या सात माद्या ठेवल्या.

²⁹And Abimelech saith unto Abraham, `What [are] they — these seven lambs which thou hast set by themselves?`

²⁹अबीमलेखाने अब्राहामाला विचारले, “या सात मेंढ्या तू अशा बाजूला का काढल्यास?”

³⁰And he saith, `For — the seven lambs thou dost accept from my hand, so that it becometh a witness for me that I have digged this well;`

³⁰अब्राहामाने उत्तर दिले, “जेव्हा तू ह्या मेंढया माझ्याकडून स्वीकारशील तेव्हा ही विहीर मी खाणली असा तो पुरावा होईल.”

³¹therefore hath he called that place `Beer-Sheba,` for there have both of them sworn.

³¹तेव्हा त्यानंतर त्या विहिरीला बैर - शेबा असे नाव पडले, कारण त्या ठिकाणी अब्राहाम व अबीमलेख यांनी एकमेकांना वचन देऊन करार केला.

³²And they make a covenant in Beer-Sheba, and Abimelech riseth — Phichol also, head of his host — and they turn back unto the land of the Philistines;

³²त्यांनी बैर शेबा येथे करार केल्यानंतर अबीमलेख व त्याचा सेनापती पलिष्ट्यांच्या देशात परत गेले.

³³and [Abraham] planteth a tamarask in Beer-Sheba, and preacheth there in the name of Jehovah, God age-during;

³³अब्राहामाने बैर - शेबा येथे एक विशेष प्रकारचे झाड लावले, आणि त्याच जागी, जो निरंतर राहतो अशा परमेश्वराची प्रार्थना केली; आणि तो बराच काळ पलिष्ट्यांच्या देशात राहिला.

³⁴and Abraham sojourneth in the land of the Philistines many days.
