1And Joseph falleth on his father`s face, and weepeth over him, and kisseth him;
1इस्राएल मरण पावला तेव्हा योसेफ फार दु:खी झाला. तो आपल्या बापाला कवटाळून खूप रडला; त्याने बापाची चुंबने घेतली.
2and Joseph commandeth his servants, the physicians, to embalm his father, and the physicians embalm Israel;
2योसेफाने आपल्या सेवाकांतील वैद्यांना आपल्या बापाचे प्रेत मसाला लावून, व भरुन तयार ठेण्याची आज्ञा केली. तेव्हा त्यांनी खास मिसरच्या पद्धतीने इस्राएलाचे प्रेत मसाला लावून, भरुन, पुरण्यासाठी तयार केले.
3and they fulfil for him forty days, for so they fulfil the days of the embalmed, and the Egyptians weep for him seventy days.
3अशा खास पद्धतीनेे प्रेत तयार केल्यानंतर ते पुरण्या पूर्वी मिसरचे लोक चाळीस दिवस थांबत असत. त्यांनतर मिसरच्या लोकांनी त्यांच्या रीतीप्रमाणे याकोबासाठी सत्तर दिवस शोक केला.
4And the days of his weeping pass away, and Joseph speaketh unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, `If, I pray you, I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,
4सत्तर दिवसानंतर शोक करण्याचा काळ संपला. तेव्हा योसेफ फारोच्या अधिकाऱ्यांना म्हणाला, “फारोला हे सांगा,
5My father caused me to swear, saying, Lo, I am dying; in my burying-place which I have prepared for myself in the land of Canaan, there dost thou bury me; and now, let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and return;`
5‘माझा बाप मरावयास टेकला असताना मी त्याला वचन दिले होते की मी त्याला कनान देशातील त्याने स्वत:साठी तयार केलेल्या गुहेत पुरेन. तेव्हा कृपया माझ्या बापास पुरावयास जाऊ द्या; मग मी परत आल्यावर तुम्हाला भेटेन.”‘
6and Pharaoh saith, `Go up and bury thy father, as he caused thee to swear.`
6फारोने उत्तर दिले, “तू आपल्या बापाला दिलेले वचन पूर्ण कर; तू जाऊन आपल्या बापाने सांगितल्या प्रमाणे त्याला पुरुन ये.”
7And Joseph goeth up to bury his father, and go up with him do all the servants of Pharaoh, elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,
7तेव्हा योसेफ आपल्या बापाला पुरण्यासाठी गेला; तेव्हा फारोचे सर्व अधिकारी व मिसरचे नेते आणि सर्व वडीलजन योसेफाबरोबर गेले;
8and all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and the house of his father; only their infants, and their flock, and their herd, have they left in the land of Goshen;
8आपले कुटुंबीय, आपले भाऊ व त्यांचे कुटुंबीय तसेच आपल्या बापाचे कुटुंबीय योसेफाबरोबर होते. (फक्त लहान मुले व पशू एवढेच गोशेन प्रांतात मागे राहिले होते.)
9and there go up with him both chariot and horsemen, and the camp is very great.
9तो लोकांचा खूप मोठा समूह होता. सैनिकांची एक पलटणाही घोडयावर बसून मोठया संख्येने योसेफाबरोबर गेले.
10And they come unto the threshing-floor of Atad, which [is] beyond the Jordan, and they lament there, a lamentation great and very grievous; and he maketh for his father a mourning seven days,
10ते यार्देन (जॉईन) नदीच्या पूर्वेस गोरेन आताद येथील खळ्यावर गेले. या ठिकाणी इस्राएलाचा प्रेतक्रिया विधी झाला. हा प्रेतकियेचा विधी सात दिवस चालला.
11and the inhabitant of the land, the Canaanite, see the mourning in the threshing-floor of Atad, and say, `A grievous mourning [is] this to the Egyptians;` therefore hath [one] called its name `The mourning of the Egyptians,` which [is] beyond the Jordan.
11कनान देशात राहाणाऱ्या लोकांनी गोरेन आताद येथील हे प्रेतक्रियेचे विधी व संस्कार पाहिले तेव्हा ते म्हणाले, “मिसरच्या लोकांचे प्रेतक्रिया विधी व संस्कार फारच दु:खाने भरलेले आहेत.” त्यामुळे आता त्या जागेला अबेल मिस्राईम असे नाव पडले आहे.
12And his sons do to him so as he commanded them,
12अशाप्रकारे याकोबाच्या मुलांनी आपल्या बापाने दिलेल्या आज्ञेप्रमाणे केले;
13and his sons bear him away to the land of Canaan, and bury him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a burying-place, from Ephron the Hittite, on the front of Mamre.
13त्यांनी त्याचे प्रेत कनान देशात नेऊन एफ्रोन हित्ती याजकडून कबरस्तान म्हणून उपयोगी पडावे यासाठी अब्राहामाने विकत घेतलेल्या मम्रे येथील शेतातील मकपेला गुहेत पुरले.
14And Joseph turneth back to Egypt, he and his brethren, and all who are going up with him to bury his father, after his burying his father.
14आपल्या बापाच्या प्रेतक्रियेनंतर योसेफ आणि त्याच्या बरोबर गेलेला सर्वसमुदाय मिसरला माघारी गेला.
15And the brethren of Joseph see that their father is dead, and say, `Peradventure Joseph doth hate us, and doth certainly return to us all the evil which we did with him.`
15याकोब मरण पावल्यावर योसेफाचे भाऊ चिंतेत पडले. फार पूर्वी आपण योसेफाबरोबर दुष्टपणाने वागलो त्यावरुन आता सुद्धा आपल्यावर त्याचा राग भडकेल अशी त्यांना भीती वाटली. ते स्वत:शीच म्हणाले कदाचित “योसेफ अजूनही आपला तिरस्कार करत असेल आणि आपण त्याच्याशी वाईट वागलो त्याचा तो बदला घेईल.”
16And they give a charge for Joseph, saying, `Thy father commanded before his death, saying,
16तेव्हा त्या भावांनी योसेफाला येणे प्रमाणे निरोप पाठवला. तुझ्या बापाने मरण्यापूर्वी आम्हाला अशी आज्ञा दिली
17Thus ye do say to Joseph, I pray thee, bear, I pray thee, with the transgression of thy brethren, and their sin, for they have done thee evil; and now, bear, we pray thee, with the transgression of the servants of the God of thy father;` and Joseph weepeth in their speaking unto him.
17तो म्हणाला, ‘योसेफाला सांगा की तुझ्या भावांनी तुझ्याशी जे वाईट वर्तन केले त्याबद्दल तू त्यांची क्षमा करावीस अशी मी विनंती करतो.’ तेव्हा हे योसेफा, आम्ही तुला अशी विनंती करतो की, आम्ही तुझ्याशी वाईट रीतीने वागलो त्याबद्दल कृपया तू आमची क्षमा कर. आम्ही देवाचे, तुझ्या बापाच्या देवाचे दास आहोत. योसेफाचे भाऊ वरीलप्रमाणे बोलले त्यामुळे योसेफाला फार दु:ख झाले व तो रडला.
18And his brethren also go and fall before him, and say, `Lo, we [are] to thee for servants.`
18योसेफाचे भाऊ त्यांजकडे गेले व ते त्याच्या पाया पडले, मग ते म्हणाले, “आम्ही आपले दास आहोत.”
19And Joseph saith unto them, `Fear not, for [am] I in the place of God?
19मग योसेफ त्यांना म्हणाला, “भिऊ नका; मी देव नाही, म्हणजे शिक्षा करण्याचा मला अधिकार नाही!
20As for you, ye devised against me evil — God devised it for good, in order to do as [at] this day, to keep alive a numerous people;
20तुम्ही माझे वाईट करण्याचा कट केला, पण देव माझ्यासाठी चांगली योजना करीत होता. असंख्य लोकांचे प्राण वाचविण्यासाठी माझा उपयोग करावा अशी देवाची योजना होती. आजही देवाची तीच योजना आहे.
21and now, fear not: I do nourish you and your infants;` and he comforteth them, and speaketh unto their heart.
21तेव्हा भिऊ नका; मी तुमची व तुमच्या मुलाबाळांची काळजी घेईन, तुमचे पोषण करीन.” योसेफ त्याच्या भावाशी ममतेने बोलला त्यामुळे त्याच्या भावांना बरे वाटले.
22And Joseph dwelleth in Egypt, he and the house of his father, and Joseph liveth a hundred and ten years,
22योसेफ आपल्या बापाच्या कुटुंबीयासह मिसरमध्ये राहिला. तो एकशे दहा वर्षांचा असताना मरण पावला.
23and Joseph looketh on Ephraim`s sons of the third [generation]; sons also of Machir, son of Manasseh, have been born on the knees of Joseph.
23योसेफाच्या हयातीत एफ्राईमाला मुले व नातवंडे झाली; आणि त्याचा मुलगा मनश्शे याला माखीर नावाचा मुलगा झाला. योसेफाने मारखीराची मुले ही पाहिली.
24And Joseph saith unto his brethren, `I am dying, and God doth certainly inspect you, and hath caused you to go up from this land, unto the land which He hath sworn to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.`
24योसेफाचे मरण जवळ आले तेव्हा तो आपल्या भावांना म्हणाला, “माझी मरण्याची वेळ जवळ आली आहे; परंतु देव तुमची काळजी घेईल हे मला माहीत आहे. तो देव तुम्हाला ह्या देशातून काढून अब्राहाम, इसहाक, व याकोब यांना जो देश देण्याचे वचन त्याने दिले होते त्या देशात घेऊन जाईल.”
25And Joseph causeth the sons of Israel to swear, saying, `God doth certainly inspect you, and ye have brought up my bones from this [place].`
25मग योसेफाने आपल्या वंशजास वचन देण्यास सांगितले. तो म्हणाला, “देव जेव्हा तुम्हाला येथून काढून पुढे घालून त्या नवीन देशात घेऊन जाईल तेव्हा माझे शरीर तुम्ही तुमच्या बरोबर घेऊन जाल असे मला वचन द्या.”
26And Joseph dieth, a son of an hundred and ten years, and they embalm him, and he is put into a coffin in Egypt.
26योसेफ एकशेदहा वर्षांचा झाल्यावर मिसरमध्ये मरण पावला. वैद्यांनी त्याच्या शरीराला मसाला लावून ते पुरण्यासाठी तयार केले व ते शवपेटीत मिसरमध्ये ठेवले.
