1`Hear a word of Jehovah, sons of Israel, For a strife [is] to Jehovah with inhabitants of the land, For there is no truth, nor kindness, Nor knowledge of God, in the land,
1इस्राएलच्या लोकांनो, परमेश्वराचा संदेश ऐका! ह्या देशात राहणाव्या लोकांविरुध्द परमेश्वर आपले म्हणणे मांडणार आहे. “ह्या देशातील लोकांना परमेश्वराची खरीखुरी ओळख नाही. ते सत्याने वागत नाहीत आणि परमेश्वराशी एकनिष्ठ नाहीत.
2Swearing, and lying, and murdering, And stealing, and committing adultery — have increased, And blood against blood hath touched.
2लोक शपथ घेतात, खोटे बोलतात, ठार मारतात आणि चोरी करतात ते व्यभिचाराचे पाप करतात आणि त्यांना मुले होतात ते पून्हा पून्हा खून करतात.
3Therefore mourn doth the land, And weak is every dweller in it, With the beast of the field, And with the fowl of the heavens, And the fishes of the sea — they are removed.
3म्हणून देश, मृतासाठी शोक करणाव्या माणसाप्रमाणे झाला आहे. देशातील सर्व लोक दुर्बल झाले आहेत. रानातील प्राणी, आकाशातील पक्षी आणि समुद्रातील मासेसुध्दा मरत आहेत.
4Only, let no one strive, nor reprove a man, And thy people [are] as those striving with a priest.
4कोणीही दुसऱ्याशी वाद घालू नये वा दुसऱ्याला दोष देऊ नये. हे याजका! माझा वाद तुझ्याबरोबर आहे.
5And thou hast stumbled in the day, And stumbled hath also a prophet with thee in the night, And I have cut off thy mother.
5तुम्ही (याजक) दिवसा-ढवव्व्या पडाल आणि रात्री, तुमच्याबरोबर संदेष्टे पडतील. मी तुमच्या आईचा नाश करीन.
6Cut off have been My people for lack of knowledge, Because thou knowledge hast rejected, I reject thee from being priest to Me, And thou forgettest the law of thy God, I forget thy sons, I also!
6“माझ्या लोकांचा अज्ञानामुळे नाश झाला. तुम्ही शिकण्याचे नाकारले आहे. म्हणून मी तुम्हाला माझ्या सेवेत याजक होण्यास नकार देईन. तुम्ही तुमच्या देवाचा नियम विसरलात, म्हणून मी तुमच्या मुलांना विसरेन.
7According to their abundance so they sinned against Me, Their honour into shame I change.
7ते गर्विष्ठ झाले, त्यांनी माझ्याविरुद्ध खूप पाप केले. म्हणून मी त्यांचे वैभवाचे लाजिरवाण्या स्थितीत रूपांतर करीन.
8The sin of My people they do eat, And unto their iniquity lift up their soul.
8“लोकांच्या पापांमध्ये याजक सहभागी झाले. त्यांना ती पापे आणखी पाहिजे आहेत.
9And it hath been, like people, like priest, And I have charged on it its ways, And its habitual doings I return to it.
9म्हणजेच याजक लोकांपेक्षा वेगळे नाहीत. त्यांनी केलेल्या दुष्कृत्यांबद्दल मी त्यांना शिक्षा करीन. त्यांच्या चुकांची मी परतफेड करीन.
10And they have eaten, and are not satisfied, They have gone a-whoring, and increase not, For they have left off taking heed to Jehovah.
10ते खातील, पण त्यांची तृप्ती होणार नाही. ते व्यभिचाराचे पाप करतील, पण त्यांना मुले होणार नाहीत. का? कारण त्यांनी परमेश्वराचा त्याग केला आणि वेश्येप्रमाणे वर्तन केले.
11Whoredom, and wine, and new wine, take the heart,
11व्यभिचार, कडक पेय, व नवीन मद्य माणसाची सरळ विचार करण्याची ताकद नष्ट करतील.
12My people at its staff asketh and its rod declareth to it, For a spirit of whoredoms hath caused to err, And they go a-whoring from under their God.
12माझी माणसे लाकडाच्या तकड्यांना सल्ला विचारीत आहेत. त्यांना वाटते की त्या काटक्या त्यांना उत्तर देतील. का? कारण ते वेश्यांप्रमाणे त्या खोट्या देवाच्या मागे धावले. त्यांनी त्यांच्या देवाचा त्याग केला व ते वेश्येप्रमाणे वागले.
13On tops of the mountains they do sacrifice, And on the hills they make perfume, Under oak, and poplar, and terebinth, For good [is] its shade.

14Therefore commit whoredom do your daughters, And your spouses commit adultery, I do not see after your daughters when they commit whoredom, And after your spouses when they commit adultery, For they with the harlots are separated, And with the whores they do sacrifice, A people that doth not understand kicketh.
14“मी तुमच्या मुलींनी वेश्या झाल्याबद्दल वा तुमच्या सुंनाना व्यभिचाराचे पाप केल्याबरोबर झोपतात. ते मंदिरातील कलावंतिणीबरोबर बळी अर्पण करतात. म्हणजेच ते मूर्ख लोक स्वत:चाच नाश करून घेत आहेत.
15Though a harlot thou [art], O Israel, Let not Judah become guilty, And come not ye in to Gilgal, nor go up to Beth-Aven, Nor swear ye, Jehovah liveth.
15“इस्राएल, तू वेश्येप्रमाणे वागतेस. पण यहूदाला अपराध करु देऊ नयेस. तू गिल्गालला किंवा वर बेथ-आवेनला जाऊ नकोस. वचने देताना परमेश्वराच्या नावाचा उपयोग करु नकोस ‘परमेश्वराशपथ’ असे म्हणू नकोस.
16For as a refractory heifer hath Israel turned aside, Now doth Jehovah feed them as a lamb in a large place.
16“परमेश्वराने इस्राएलला खूप गोष्टी दिल्या आहेत. खूप गवत असलेल्या विस्तीर्ण कुरणात आपल्या मेंढ्यांना घेऊन जाणाव्या मेंढपाळाप्रमाणे परमेश्वर आहे. पण इस्राएल पुन्हा पुन्हा पळून जाणाव्या कालवडीप्रमाणे हट्टी आहे.
17Joined to idols [is] Ephraim, let him alone.
17एफ्राईमने त्याच्या मूर्तोशी हातमिळवणी केली आहे. तेव्हा त्याला ऐकटा ठेवा.
18Sour [is] their drink, They have gone diligently a-whoring, Her protectors have loved shame thoroughly.
18“एफ्राईम त्यांच्या धुंदीत सामील झाला आहे. मद्यपान केल्यानंतर ते वेश्यांप्रमाणे वागत आहेत. ते आपल्या प्रियकरांकडून लाजिरवाण्या भेटी मागतात.
19Distressed her hath wind with its wings, And they are ashamed of their sacrifices!
19ते संरक्षणासाठी त्या दैवतांजवळ गेले आणि त्यांनी आपली विचार करण्याची शक्ती गमावली. त्यांनी अर्पण केलेले बळी त्यांना नामुष्कीच आणतात.”
