1The burden of Damascus. Lo, Damascus is taken away from [being] a city, And it hath been a heap — a ruin.
1दमास्कसला हा शोक संदेश आहे. परमेश्वर म्हणतो की पुढील गोष्टी दमास्कसला घडतील. “आता दमास्कस एक शहर आहे. पण त्याचा नाश होईल. फक्त पडझड झालेल्या इमारती तेथे शिल्लक राहतील.
2Forsaken are the cities of Aroer, For droves they are, and they have lain down, And there is none troubling.
2लोक अरोएराची शहरे सोडून जातील. त्या ओसाड शहरांतून शेळ्यामेंढ्यांचे कळप मुक्तपणे हिंडतील. त्यांना हाकलायला तेथे कोणी माणूस नसेल.
3And ceased hath the fortress from Ephraim, And the kingdom from Damascus, And the remnant of Aram are as the honour of the sons of Israel, The affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts!
3एफ्राइमची (इस्राएलची) किल्ले असलेली शहरे नष्ट होतील. दमास्कसचे सरकार पडेल. इस्राएलला जे घडले तेच सिरीयात घडेल. सगळी प्रतिष्ठित माणसे दूर केली जातील.” सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वराच्या म्हणण्याप्रमाणे ह्या गोष्टी घडतील.
4And it hath come to pass, in that day, Wax poor doth the honour of Jacob, And the fatness of his flesh doth wax lean.
4त्या वेळी याकोबाची (इस्राएलची) सर्व संपत्ती नष्ट होईल. आजारी माणसाप्रमाणे याकोब दुबळा व बारीक होईल.
5And it hath come to pass, As the gathering by the reaper of the standing corn, And his arm the ears reapeth, And it hath come to pass, As the gathering of the ears in the valley of Rephaim,
5एफ्राइम खोऱ्यातील धान्याच्या मोसमाप्रमाणे तो काळ असेल. मजूर शेतात पिकलेली पिके कापून गोळा करतात. नंतर कणसे तोडून ते धान्य गोळा करतात.
6And left in him have been gleanings, As the compassing of an olive, Two — three berries on the top of a branch, Four — five on the fruitful boughs, The affirmation of Jehovah, God of Israel!
6तो काळ जैतूनच्या मोसमाप्रमाणेही असेल. लोक झाड हलवून जैतूनची फळे पाडतात. पण काही झाडावर राहतातच. उंचावरच्या फांद्यावर चार-पाच फळे राहून जातातच. ह्या शहरांचेही असेच होईल. सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वराने हे सांगितले आहे.
7In that day doth man look to His Maker, Yea, his eyes to the Holy One of Israel look,
7त्या वेळी लोक देवाकडे म्हणजे आपल्या जन्मदात्याकडे पाहतील. त्यांना इस्राएलच्या पवित्र देवाचे दर्शन होईल.
8And he looketh not unto the altars. The work of his own hands, And that which his own fingers made He seeth not — the shrines and the images.
8लोक, स्वत:च्या हाताने केलेल्या वेद्यांकडे जाणार नाहीत. त्यांनी खोट्या देवांसाठी तयार केलेल्या अशेरा स्तंभाचा आणि धूपाच्या वेद्यांचा ते मान ठेवणार नाहीत.
9In that day are the cities of his strength As the forsaken thing of the forest, And the branch that they have left, Because of the sons of Israel, It also hath been a desolation.
9त्या वेळेला किल्ले असलेली सर्व शहरे ओस पडतील. इस्राएलचे लोक येण्याआधी त्या भूमीवर जसे डोंगर आणि जंगले होती त्याप्रमाणे ती शहरे होतील. पूर्वी इस्राएली लोकांना येताना पाहून तेथे राहणारे लोक पळून गेले. भविष्यात परत एकदा देश ओस पडेल.
10Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, And the rock of thy strength hast not remembered, Therefore thou plantest plants of pleasantness, And with a strange slip sowest it,
10असे घडण्याचे कारण तू तुला वाचवणाऱ्या देवाला विसरलास. देव हे तुझ्यासाठी सुरक्षित आश्रयस्थान आहे, हे तुझ्या लक्षात राहिले नाही. दूरच्या देशांतून तू चांगल्या जातीच्या द्राक्षवेली आणल्यास तू त्यांची लावणी करशील पण त्या वाढणार नाहीत.
11In the day thy plant thou causest to become great, And in the morning thy seed makest to flourish, A heap [is] the harvest in a day of overflowing, And of mortal pain.
11एके दिवशी तू द्राक्षवेलींची लागवड करशील, त्या वाढाव्या म्हणून प्रयत्न करशील. दुसऱ्या दिवसापासून त्या वाढूही लागतील पण सुगीच्या काळात तू फळे गोळा करायला जाशील तेव्हा तुला सगळे सुकून गेलेले दिसेल. रोगाने सर्व वेली मरून जातील.
12Wo [to] the multitude of many peoples, As the sounding of seas they sound; And [to] the wasting of nations, As the wasting of mighty waters they are wasted.
12समुद्राच्या गर्जनेप्रमाणे येणारा पुष्कळ लोकांचा आक्रोश ऐक. ते मोठ्याने रडत आहेत. लाटा एकमेकीवर आदळून उठणाऱ्या आवाजाप्रमाणे हा आक्रोश आहे.
13Nations as the wasting of many waters are wasted, And He hath pushed against it, And it hath fled afar off, And been pursued as chaff of hills before wind, And as a rolling thing before a hurricane.
13लोकांची स्थितीही त्या लाटांप्रमाणेच होईल. देव त्यांची कानउघाडणी करील आणि ते लांबवर धावत सुटतील. लोकांची स्थिती वाऱ्यावर उडून जाणाऱ्या फोलपटाप्रमाणे होईल. वावटळीत उडून जाणाऱ्या गवताप्रमाणे त्यांची अवस्था होईल.
14At even-time, lo, terror, before morning it is not, This [is] the portion of our spoilers, And the lot of our plunderers!
14त्या रात्री सर्व माणसे अतिशय भयभीत होतील. उजाडण्यापूर्वी सर्व नष्ट झालेले असेल. त्यामुळे आमच्या शत्रूंना काहीही मिळणार नाही ते ह्या भूमीवर पाय ठेवतील तेव्हा येथे काहीही उरलेले नसेल.
