1For, lo, the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, Is turning aside from Jerusalem, And from Judah, stay and staff, Every stay of bread, and every stay of water.
1माझे म्हणणे समजून घ्या. यहुदा व यरूशलेम ज्यावर अवलंबून आहेत अशा सर्व गोष्टी तो प्रभू, सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर काढून घेईल. देव त्यांची भाकरी व पाणी बंद करील.
2Hero and man of war, judge and prophet, And diviner and elder,
2तो (देव) वीरांचा व मोठ्या योध्द्यांना दूर करील. न्यायासनावर बसणारे, भोंदू संदेष्टे, मांत्रिक व तथाकथित वडीलधारी मंडळी इत्यादीनां दुसरीकडे नेऊन ठेवील.
3Head of fifty, and accepted of faces, And counsellor, and the wise of artificers, And the intelligent of charmers.
3देव सैनिक शासक व शासनकर्त्ते यांना दूर करील. निपुण सल्लागार व जादूटोणा करून भविष्यकथन करण्याचा प्रयत्न करणारे चाणाक्ष लोक यांनाही दूर ठेवील.
4And I have made youths their heads, And sucklings rule over them.
4देव म्हणतो, “तरूण मुले नेतेपदी बसतील अशी परिस्थिती मी निर्माण करीन.
5And the people hath exacted — man upon man, Even a man on his neighbour, Enlarge themselves do the youths against the aged, And the lightly esteemed against the honoured.
5प्रत्येकजण दुसऱ्याविरूध्द उभा राहील, लहान थोरांचा मान राखणार नाहीत व सामान्य प्रतिष्ठितांचा आदर करणार नाहीत.”
6When one layeth hold on his brother, [Of] the house of his father, [by] the garment, `Come, a ruler thou art to us, And this ruin [is] under thy hand.`
6त्या वेळी एखादा उठेल व आपल्या घरातील एकाद्या भावाला पकडेल व त्याला म्हणेल “तुझ्याजवळ अंगरखा आहे, तर मग ह्या विध्वंस झालेल्या अवशेषांवर तूच नेता होशील.”
7He lifteth up, in that day, saying: `I am not a binder up, And in my house is neither bread nor garment, Ye do not make me a ruler of the people.`
7पण तो भाऊ उभाराहील व म्हणेल, “माझ्याच घरात पुरेसे अन्न, वस्त्र नाही. मी तुम्हाला काय मदत करू शकत नाही? तुम्ही मला तुमचा नेता करू नका.”
8For stumbled hath Jerusalem, and Judah hath fallen, For their tongue and their doings [are] against Jehovah, To provoke the eyes of His glory.
8हे घडेल कारण यरूशलेम अडखळले आहे व त्याने चूक केली आहे. यहुदाने देवाला अनुसरायचे थांबवले आणि त्याचे पतन झाले. यरूशलेम व यहुदा यांची वाणी आणि कृती परमेश्वराच्या विरूध्द आहे. परमेश्वराच्या तेजस्वी डोळ्यांना हे सर्व स्पष्टपणे दिसत आहे.
9The appearance of their faces witnessed against them, And their sin, as Sodom, they declared, They have not hidden! Wo to their soul, For they have done to themselves evil.
9चुकीची कृत्ये केल्याची अपराधी भावना लोकांच्या चेहऱ्यावर दिसत आहे. आपल्या पापांबद्दल त्यांना गर्व वाटत आहे. ते सदोम शहरातील रहिवाशांसारखे झाले आहेत. आपली पापे कोण पाहत आहे ह्याची त्यांना पर्वा नाही. हे त्यांच्या दृष्टीने फारच वाईट आहे. त्यांनी स्वत:ला आपत्तीत लोटले आहे.
10Say ye to the righteous, that [it is] good, Because the fruit of their doings they eat.
10सज्जनांना सांगा की त्यांचा उत्कर्ष होईल. सत्कृत्यांचे फळ त्यांना मिळेल.
11Wo to the wicked — evil, Because the deed of his hand is done to him.
11पण दुर्जनांची काही धडगत नाही. त्यांना खूप त्रास होईल. त्यांच्या दुष्कृत्यांची त्यांना सजा मिळेल.
12My people — its exactors [are] sucklings, And women have ruled over it. My people — thy eulogists are causing to err, And the way of thy paths swallowed up.
12लहान बालके मोठ्यांचा पराभव करतील. अबलांचे राज्य येईल. माझ्या लोकांनो, तुमच्या मार्गदर्शकांनी तुम्हाला योग्य मार्गापासून परावृत्त केले व चुकीच्या मार्गाने नेले.
13Jehovah hath stood up to plead, And He is standing to judge the peoples.
13परमेश्वर स्वत:च लोकांचा न्यायनिवाडा करील.
14Jehovah into judgment doth enter With elders of His people, and its heads: `And ye, ye have consumed the vineyard, Plunder of the poor [is] in your houses.
14वडीलधारी मंडळी व नेते यांनी केलेल्या कृत्यांविरूध्द परमेश्वर न्याय देईल. परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “तुम्ही लोकांनी द्राक्षांची बाग(यहुदा) जाळली आहे. तुम्ही गरिबांच्या वस्तू बळकावल्या व स्वत:च्या घरात भरल्या.
15What — to you? ye bruise My people, And the faces of the poor ye grind.` An affirmation of the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, And Jehovah saith:
15माझ्या लोकांना दुखवायचा अधिकार तुम्हाला कोणी दिला? गरिबांना धुळीत मिळवायचा तुम्हाला काय हक्क आहे?” माझा प्रभू, सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर असे म्हणाला.
16`Because that daughters of Zion have been haughty, And they walk stretching out the neck, And deceiving [with] the eyes, Walking and mincing they go, And with their feet they make a tinkling,
16परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “सीयोनमधल्या स्त्रिया फार गर्विष्ठ झाल्या आहेत. आपण इतर लोकांपेक्षा उच्च आहोत हे दाखवीत त्या ताठ मानेने वावरत असतात. त्या डोळे मारीत, आपल्या पैंजणांचा आवाज करीत ठुमकत चालतात.”
17The Lord also hath scabbed The crown of the head of daughters of Zion, And Jehovah their simplicity exposeth.
17माझा प्रभु सीयोनच्या स्त्रियांच्या डोक्यांत व्रण करील. त्यांचे सर्व केस गळून पडतील.
18In that day doth the Lord turn aside The beauty of the tinkling ornaments, And of the embroidered works, And of the round tires like moons,

19Of the drops, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,

20Of the bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, And of the bands, And of the perfume boxes, and the amulets,

21Of the seals, and of the nose-rings,

22Of the costly apparel, and of the mantles, And of the coverings, and of the purses,

23Of the mirrors, and of the linen garments, And of the hoods, and of the vails,
23[This verse may not be a part of this translation]
24And it hath been, instead of spice is muck, And instead of a girdle, a rope, And instead of curled work, baldness, And instead of a stomacher a girdle of sackcloth.
24आता या स्त्रियांजवळ मधुर सुवासाची अत्तरे आहेत पण देव त्यांना शिक्षा करील त्या वेळी त्या अत्तरांना बुरशी येऊन कुजट घाण येईल. आता या स्त्रिया कमरपट्टे वापरतात पण त्या ऐवजी दोऱ्या वापरण्याची वेळ त्यांच्यावर येईल. आता त्या विविध केशरचना करतात पण नंतर त्यांच्या डोक्यावर केसच नसतील. त्यांचे केशवपन होईल. त्यांच्या मेजवान्यांसाठी असलेल्या विशेष वस्त्रप्रावरणांऐवजी त्यांना जे कपडे घालावे लागतील त्यातून त्यांची वाईट स्थिती दिसून येईल. त्यांच्या चेहेऱ्यावरील सौंदर्यखुणांच्या जागी भाजल्याचे डाग पडतील.
25For instead of glory, thy men by sword do fall, And thy might in battle.
25त्याच वेळी लढाईत तुमची माणसे तलवारीने मारली जातील. वीर लढाईत कामी येतील.
26And lamented and mourned have her openings, Yea, she hath been emptied, on the earth she sitteth!
26वेशीजवळ असलेल्या सभा-संमेलनाच्या जागी शोककळा पसरेल. चोर व लुटारूंनी सर्वस्व लुटलेल्या स्त्रीप्रमाणे यरूशलेम नगरी एकटीच बसून शोक करेल.
