1Thus said Jehovah unto me, `Go, and thou hast got for thee a girdle of linen, and hast placed it on thy loins, and into water thou dost not cause it to enter:`
1परमेश्वर मला असे म्हणाला: “यिर्मया, जा आणि तागाचा घागरा विकत घे. नंतर तो नेस. तो ओला होऊ देऊ नकोस.”
2and I get the girdle, according to the word of Jehovah, and I place [it] on my loins.
2परमेश्वराने सांगितल्याप्रमाणे मी एक तागाचा घागरा विकत आणला व नेसला.
3And there is a word of Jehovah unto me a second time, saying,
3नंतर मला परमेश्वराकडून दुसऱ्यांदा संदेश आला.
4`Take the girdle that thou hast got, that [is] on thy loins, and rise, go to Phrat, and hide it there in a hole of the rock;
4तो असा होता: “यिर्मया, तू विकत आणून नेसलेला घागरा घेऊन फरातला जा. तिथे तो खडकाला पडलेल्या चिरेत लपवून ठेव.”
5and I go and hide it by Phrat, as Jehovah commanded me.
5त्याप्रमाणे मी फरातला गेलो आणि अगदी परमेश्वराने सांगितल्याप्रमाणे घागरा लपवून ठेवला.
6And it cometh to pass, at the end of many days, that Jehovah saith unto me, `Rise, go to Phrat, and take thence the girdle, that I commanded thee to hide there;`
6पुष्कळ दिवसांनी देव मला म्हणाला, “यिर्मया, फरातला जा व लपवून ठेवायला सांगितलेला घागरा परत घे.”
7and I go to Phrat, and dig, and take the girdle from the place where I had hid it; and lo, the girdle hath been marred, it is not profitable for anything.
7त्याप्रमाणे मी फरातला गेलो आणि घागरा उकरुन काढला. मी दगडाच्या चिरेत लपविलेला घागरा बाहेर काढला. पण आता तो इतका खराब झाला होता की मी तो नेसू शकत नव्हतो. तो अगदी निरुपयोगी झाला होता.
8And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying, `Thus said Jehovah:
8मग मला परमेश्वराचा संदेश आला.
9Thus do I mar the excellency of Judah, And the great excellency of Jerusalem.
9परमेश्वर मला म्हणाला, “ज्याप्रमाणे घागरा अगदी खराब आणि निरुपयोगी झाला, त्याचप्रमाणे यहूदातील आणि यरुशलेमधील अहंकारी लोकांचा नाश होईल.
10This evil people, who refuse to hear My words, Who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, And go after other gods to serve them, And to bow themselves to them, Yea it is — as this girdle, that is not profitable for anything.
10मी यहुदाच्या उद्दाम आणि पापी लोकांचा नाश करीन. ते लोक माझा संदेश ऐकण्याचे नाकारतात. ते दुराग्रही असून आपल्याला पाहिजे त्याच गोष्टी करतात. ते दुसऱ्या देवांना अनुसरतात व त्यांची पूजा करतात. यहूदाच्या अशा लोकांची गत ह्या तागाच्या घागऱ्याप्रमाणे होईल. त्यांचा नाश होऊन ते निरुपयोगी ठरतील.
11For, as the girdle cleaveth unto the loins of a man, So I caused to cleave unto Me The whole house of Israel, And the whole house of Judah, an affirmation of Jehovah, To be to Me for a people, and for a name, And for praise, and for beauty, And they have not hearkened.
11घागरा जसा माणसाच्या कमरेभोवती घट्ठ लपेटला जातो, त्याप्रमाणे मी यहूदाची आणि इस्राएलची कुटुंबे माझ्या कमरेला लपेटली.” हा परमेश्वराकडून आलेला संदेश आहे. “त्या लोकांनी माझे व्हावे, मला कीर्ती, प्रशंसा आणि मान मिळवून द्यावा म्हणून मी असे केले. पण माझ्या लोकांना माझे ऐकावयाचे नाही.”
12And thou hast said unto them this word, Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, `Every bottle is full of wine,` And they have said unto thee: `Do we not certainly know that every bottle is full of wine?`
12“यिर्मया, यहूदाच्या लोकांना सांग की परमेश्वर, इस्राएलचा देव म्हणतो, ‘प्रत्येक चामड्याचा बुधला दारुने भरावा.’ ते लोक तुला हसतील आणि म्हणतील ‘प्रत्येक चामड्याचा बुधला दारुने भरावा हे आम्हाला माहीत आहे.’
13And thou hast said unto them, `Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am filling all the inhabitants of this land, And the kings who sit for David on his throne, And the priests, and the prophets, And all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, [With] drunkenness,
13मग तू त्यांना सांग, ‘परमेश्वराचे म्हणणे असे आहे की या देशात राहणाऱ्या प्रत्येक माणसाला मी दारुड्याप्रमाणे असहाय करीन. मी हे दावीदच्या सिंहासनावर बसलेल्या राजांबद्दल, याजकांबद्दल, संदेष्ट्यांबद्दल आणि यरुशलेममध्ये राहणाऱ्या यच्चयावत लोकांबद्दल बोलत आहे.
14And have dashed them one against another, And the fathers and the sons together, An affirmation of Jehovah, I do not pity, nor spare, nor have I mercy, So as not to destroy them.
14यहूदाच्या लोकांना मी धडपडायला भाग पाडीन. ते धडपडून एकमेकांच्या अंगावर पडतील. पिता पुत्र एकमेकांवर पडतील. हा परमेश्वराचा संदेश आहे. “‘मला त्याबद्दल वाईटही वाटणार नाही. आणि त्यांची दयाही येणार नाही. अनुकंपा येऊन मी यहूदाच्या लोकांचे पारिपत्य थांबविणार नाही.”‘
15Hear, and give ear — be not haughty, For Jehovah hath spoken.
15ऐका आणि लक्ष द्या. परमेश्वर तुमच्याशी बोलला आहे. उन्मत्त बनू नका.
16Give ye to Jehovah your God honour, Before He doth cause darkness, And before your feet stumble on dark mountains, And ye have waited for light, And He hath made it for death-shade, And hath appointed [it] for thick darkness.
16परमेश्वराचा, तुमच्या देवाचा मान राखा. त्याचे स्तवन करा, नाहीतर तो अंधकार पसरवील. अंधकारमय टेकड्यांवर पडण्याआधीच त्याचे स्तुतिस्तोत्र गा. तुम्ही यहूदाचे लोक प्रकाशाची वाट पाहता, पण परमेश्वर प्रकाशाचे गाढ अंधकारात रुपांतर करेल. तो प्रकाशाला दाट अंधारात बदलेल.
17And if ye do not hear it, In secret places doth my soul weep, because of pride, Yea, it weepeth sore, And the tear cometh down mine eyes, For the flock of Jehovah hath been taken captive.
17यहूदाच्या लोकांनो, तुम्ही जर परमेश्वराचे ऐकणार नसाल, तर मी एकांतात आक्रोश करीन. तुमचा उन्मत्तपणा मला आक्रोश करायला भाग पाडेल. मी दारुण आकांत करीन. माझे डोळे अश्रूंनी डबडबतील. का? कारण परमेश्वराच्या मेंढरांचा कळप (यहूदाचे लोक) पकडला जाईल.
18Say to the king and to the mistress: Make yourselves low — sit still, For come down have your principalities, The crown of your beauty.
18राजा आणि राणीला या गोष्टी सांगा, “तुमचे सुंदर मुकुट तुमच्या डोक्यांवरुन खाली पडलेत. तुम्ही आता तुमच्या सिंहासनावरुन खाली उतरा.”
19The cities of the south have been shut up, And there is none opening, Judah hath been removed — all of her, She hath been removed completely —
19नेगेवच्या वाळवंटातील शहरे बंद केली गेली आहेत. कोणीही ती उघडू शकत नाही. यहूदाच्या सर्व लोकांना कैद करुन परागंदा करण्यात आले आहे.
20Lift up your eyes, and see those coming in from the north, Where [is] the drove given to thee, thy beautiful flock?
20यरुशलेम, तो पाहा! उत्तरेकडून शत्रू चाल करुन येत आहे. तुझा कळप कोठे आहे? देवाने तुला या सुंदर कळपाचे दान दिले. त्याची तू काळजी घ्यावीस अशी अपेक्षा होती.
21What dost thou say, when He looketh after thee? And thou — thou hast taught them [to be] over thee — leaders for head? Do not pangs seize thee as a travailing woman?
21आता त्या कळपाबद्दल परमेश्वराने जाब विचारल्यास तू काय उत्तर देणार? तू लोकांना देवाबद्दल ज्ञान देशील अशी अपेक्षा होती. तुझे नेते लोकांना मार्गदर्शन करतील असे वाटत होते. पण त्यांनी त्यांचे कर्तव्य केले नाही. तेव्हा आता तुला प्रसुतिवेदनांप्रमाणे वेदना व त्रास भोगावा लागेल.
22And when thou dost say in thy heart, `Wherefore have these met me?` For the abundance of thine iniquity Have thy skirts been uncovered, Have thy heels suffered violence.
22तू कदाचित् स्वत:ला विचारशील, “माझ्यावरच असा वाईट प्रसंग का आला?” तुझ्या अनेक पापांमुळे असे झाले. तुझ्या पापाबद्दल तुझा घागरा फाडला गेला आणि तुझी पादत्राणे काढून घेण्यात आली. तुझी मानहानी करण्यासाठी हे करण्यात आले.
23Doth a Cushite change his skin? and a leopard his spots? Ye also are able to do good, who are accustomed to do evil.
23काळा माणूस आपल्या कातडीचा रंग बदलू शकत नाही. किंवा चित्ता आपल्या अंगावरील ठिपके बदलू शकत नाही. त्याचप्रमाणे यरुशलेम, तू सुद्धा बदलणार नाहीस आणि चांगल्या गोष्टी करणार नाहीस तू नेहमीच वाईट गोष्टी करशील.
24And I scatter them as stubble, Passing away, by a wind of the wilderness.
24“मी तुम्हाला तुमची घरे सोडून जाण्यास भाग पाडीन. तुम्ही दाही दिशांना सैरावैरा पळत सुटाल, वाळवंटातील वाऱ्याने दूर उडून जाणाऱ्या फोलकटाप्रमाणे तुमची गत होईल.
25This [is] thy lot, the portion of thy measures from Me — an affirmation of Jehovah, Because thou hast forgotten me, And dost trust in falsehood.
25तुमच्याबाबत माझी योजना ही अशी आहे आणि त्याचप्रमाणे गोष्टी घडतील.” हा परमेश्वराचा संदेश आहे. “हे असे का घडेल? कारण तुम्हाला माझा विसर पडला. तुम्ही खोट्या देवावर विश्वास ठेवला.
26I also have made bare thy skirts before thy face, And thy shame hath been seen.
26यरुशलेम, मी तुझा घागरा डोक्याकडून खेचीन. प्रत्येकजण तुला पाहील आणि तुझी बेअब्रू होईल.
27Thine adulteries, and thy neighings, The wickedness of thy whoredom, on heights in a field, I have seen thine abominations. Wo to thee, O Jerusalem, Thou art not cleansed, after when [is it] again?
27मी तू केलेली भयानक कृत्ये पाहिली आहेत. जारांशी हसताना आणि संभोग करताना मी तुला पाहिले आहे. वेश्या बनायचेच तुझ्या मनात दिसते आहे. मी तुला डोंगरकपारीत आणि मैदानात पाहिले आहे. यरुशलेम, हे तुझ्या दृष्टीने वाईट आहे. या घृणास्पद पापें तू किती काळ करणार याचे मला नवल वाटते.”
