¹Thus said Jehovah, `Go down [to] the house of the king of Judah, and thou hast spoken there this word, and hast said,

¹परमेश्वर म्हणाला, “यिर्मया, राजवाड्यात जा आणि यहूदाच्या राजाला हा संदेश आवर्जून सांग:

²Hear a word of Jehovah, O king of Judah, who art sitting on the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people, who are coming in at these gates,

²‘यहुदाच्या राजा, परमेश्वराकडून आलेला संदेश ऐक. तू दावीदच्या सिंहासनावर बसून राज्य करतोस म्हणून हे ऐक, राजा, तू आणि तुझ्या अधिकाऱ्यांनी माझे म्हणणे ऐकलेच पाहिजे. यरुशलेमच्या प्रवेशद्वारावरुन जाणाऱ्या सर्व लोकांनी माझा संदेश ऐकलाच पाहिजे.

³Thus said Jehovah: Do ye judgment and righteousness, And deliver the plundered from the hand of the oppressor, And sojourner, orphan, and widow, ye do not oppress nor wrong, And innocent blood ye do not shed in this place.

³परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “फक्त योग्य व न्याय्य गोष्टीच करा. लुटल्या जात असलेल्या लोकांचे लुटारुपासून रक्षण करा. अनाथ मुलाशी अथवा विधवांशी वाईट वागू नका अथवा त्यांना दुखवू नका. निरपराध्यांना मारु नका.

⁴For, if ye certainly do this thing, Then come in by the gates of this house Have kings sitting for David on his throne, Riding on chariot, and on horses, He, and his servants, and his people.

⁴तुम्ही माझ्या ह्या आज्ञा पाळल्यात, तर काय होईल? दावीदाच्या सिंहासनावर बसणारे राजे यरुशलेममध्ये, त्यांच्या अधिकाऱ्यांबरोबर व लोकांबरोबर, रथांतून आणि घोड्यावर स्वार होऊन आत येत राहतील.

⁵And if ye do not hear these words, By myself I have sworn — an affirmation of Jehovah, That this house is for a desolation.

⁵पण जर तुम्ही आज्ञा पाळल्या नाहीत, तर परमेश्वर काय म्हणतो पाहा, मी, परमेश्वर, वचन देतो की राजवाड्याचा नाश होऊन येथे दगडविटांचा ढिगारा होईल.”

⁶For thus said Jehovah, Concerning the house of the king of Judah: Gilead [art] thou to Me — head of Lebanon, If not — I make thee a wilderness, Cities not inhabited.

⁶यहूदाचा राजा राहत असलेल्या राजावाड्याबद्दल परमेश्वराने पुढील उद्गार काढले. “गिलादच्या जंगलाप्रमाणे वा लबानोनच्या पर्वताप्रमाणे राजवाडा उंच आहे. पण ती त्याला वाळवंटाप्रमाणे करीन. निर्जन शहराप्रमाणे तो ओसाड होईल.

⁷And I have separated for thee destroyers, Each with his weapons, And they have cut down the choice of thy cedars, And have cast them on the fire.

⁷मी राजवाड्याचा नाश करण्यास माणसे पाठवीन. त्या प्रत्येकाच्या हातात शस्त्र असेल. त्यांचा उपयोग ते राजवाडा नष्ट करण्यासाठी करतील. ही माणसे, गंधसरुपासून बनविलेल्या भक्कम व सुंदर तुळया कापून जाळून टाकतील.

⁸And many nations have passed by this city, And they have said, each to his neighbour, For what hath Jehovah done thus to this great city?

⁸“अनेक राष्ट्रांतील लोक या नगरीजवळून जाताना एकमेकांना विचारतील ‘यरुशलेम ह्या भव्य नगरीच्या बाबतीत परमेश्वराने असे भयंकर कृत्य का केले?’

⁹And they have said, `Because that they have forsaken The covenant of Jehovah their God, And bow themselves to other gods, and serve them.`

⁹ह्या प्रश्र्नाचे उत्तर पुढीलप्रमाणे असेल: ‘यहूदातील लोक परमेश्वर देवाबरोबर झालेल्या कराराप्रमाणे वागले नाहीत. त्यांनी अन्य दैवतांना पूजले आणि त्यांची सेवा केली, म्हणून देवाने यरुशलेमचा नाश केला.”

¹⁰Ye do not weep for the dead, nor bemoan for him, Weep ye sore for the traveller, For he doth not return again, Nor hath he seen the land of his birth.

¹⁰मेलेल्या राजाकरिता रडू नका. त्याच्यासाठी शोक करु नका. पण हे ठिकाण सोडून जावे लागणाऱ्या राजासाठी मात्र मोठ्याने रडा कारण तो परत येणार नाही. यहोआहाज त्याची जन्मभूमी पुन्हा कधीही पाहणार नाही.

¹¹For thus said Jehovah concerning Shallum son of Josiah king of Judah, who is reigning instead of Josiah his father, who hath gone forth from this place: He doth not turn back hither again;

¹¹योशीयाचा मुलगा शल्लूम (यहोआहाज) ह्याच्याबद्दल परमेश्वर असे म्हणतो: (राजा योशीया यांच्या मृत्यूनंतर त्याचा मुलगा शल्लूम यहूदाचा राजा झाला) “यहोआहाज यरुशलेम सोडून दूर गेला आहे. तो पुन्हा यरुशलेममध्ये येणार नाही.

¹²For in the place whither they have removed him he dieth, And this land he doth not see again.

¹²मिसरच्या लोकांनी यहोआहाजला पकडून नेले आहे. तो तेथेच मरेल. त्याला परत ही भूमी दिसणार नाही.”

¹³Wo to him who is building his house by unrighteousness, And his upper chambers by injustice, On his neighbour he layeth service for nought, And his wage he doth not give to him.

¹³राजा यहोयाकीमचे वाईट होईल. तो वाईट गोष्टी करीत आहे. आपला महाल तो बांधू शकेल. लोकांना फसवून त्यावर माड्या चढवू शकेल. तो लोकांना काहीही न देता त्यांच्याकडून काम करवून घेतो, त्यांना कामाची मजुरी देत नाही.

¹⁴Who is saying, `I build for myself a large house, And airy upper chambers,` And he hath cut out for himself its windows, Ceiled with cedar, and painted with vermillion.

¹⁴यहोयाकीम म्हणतो, “मी माझ्यासाठी मोठा वाडा बांधीन. त्याला खूप मोठे मजले असतील.” तो मोठ्या खिडक्या असलेले घर बांधतो. तो तक्तपोशीसाठी गंधसरु वापरतो आणि तक्तपोशीला लाल रंग देतो.

¹⁵Dost thou reign, because thou art fretting thyself in cedar? Thy father — did he not eat and drink? Yea, he did judgment and righteousness, Then [it is] well with him.

¹⁵यहोयाकीम, तुझ्या घरात खूप गंधसरु आहे म्हणून त्यामुळे काही तू मोठा राजा होत नाहीस. तुझे वडील योशीया अन्नपाण्यावरच समाधानी होते. त्यांनी फक्त योग्य व न्याय्य गोष्टीच केल्या. त्यांच्या ह्या कृत्यांमुळे त्यांच्याबाबतीत सर्व सुरळीत झाले.

¹⁶He decided the cause of the poor and needy, Then [it is] well — is it not to know Me? An affirmation of Jehovah.

¹⁶योशीयाने गरीब व गरजू अशा लोकांना मदत केली. त्यामुळे त्यांचे सर्व व्यवस्थित झाले. यहोयाकीम, ‘देवाला ओळखणे ह्याचा अर्थ काय?’ ह्याचा अर्थ योग्य रीतीने जगणे व न्यायीपणाने वागणे. मला ओळखणे ह्याचा अर्थ हाच होय. हा परमेश्वराकडून आलेला संदेश आहे.

¹⁷But thine eyes and thy heart are not, Except on thy dishonest gain, And on shedding of innocent blood, And on oppression, and on doing of violence.

¹⁷यहोयाकीम, तुला फक्त तुझा फायदाच दिसतो. तू तुझ्यासाठी जास्तीत जास्त मिळविण्याचाच फक्त विचार करतोस. निरापराध्यांना ठार मारण्यात व दुसऱ्याकडून वस्तू चोरण्यातच तुझे मन जडले असते.

¹⁸Therefore, thus said Jehovah concerning Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah: They do not lament for him, Ah, my brother, and Ah, sister, They do not lament for him, Ah, lord, and Ah, his honour.

¹⁸योशीयाचा मुलगा राजा यहोयाकीम ह्यास परमेश्वर असे म्हणतो की “यहोयाकीमसाठी यहूदातील लोक राहणार नाहीत. ‘हे माझ्या बंधू, मला यहोयाकीमबद्दल वाईट वाटते.’ असे ते एकमेकांना म्हणणार नाहीत. यहोयाकीमबद्दल ते शोक करणार नाहीत. “हे स्वामी! हे राजा! मला खूप वाईट वाटते! मला खूप दु:ख होते!’ असे ते म्हणणार नाहीत.

¹⁹The burial of an ass — he is buried, Dragged and cast out thence to the gates of Jerusalem.

¹⁹एखाद्या गाढवाला पुरावे तसे यरुशलेममधील लोक यहोयाकीमचे दफन करतील. ते त्याचा मृत देह फरपटत नेऊन यरुशलेमच्या वेशीबाहेर फेकून देतील.

²⁰Go up to Lebanon, and cry, And in Bashan give forth thy voice, And cry from Abarim, For destroyed have been all loving thee.

²⁰“यहूदा, लबानोनच्या डोंगरावर जाऊन मोठ्याने ओरड. बाशानच्या डोंगरात तुझा आवाज ऐकू जाऊ देत. अबारीमच्या डोंगरात तुझा आवाज ऐकू जाऊ देत. अबारीमच्या डोंगरात जाऊन मोठ्याने ओरड. का? कारण तुझ्या सर्व “प्रियकराचा’ नाश केला जाईल.

²¹I have spoken unto thee in thine ease, Thou hast said, `I do not hearken,` This [is] thy way from thy youth, For thou hast not hearkened to My voice.

²¹“यहूदा, तुला सुरक्षित वाटले. पण मी तुला इशारा दिला होता. पण तू माझे ऐकण्याचे नाकारलेस. तू तरुण असल्यापासून अशीच वागत आलीस. तू तरुण असल्यापासून माझ्या आज्ञा पाळल्या नाहीस, यहूदा!

²²All thy friends consume doth wind, And thy lovers into captivity do go, Surely then thou art ashamed, And hast blushed for all thy wickedness.

²²म्हणून मी दिलेली शिक्षा झंझावाताप्रमाणे येईल. ती तुझ्या सर्व मेंढपाळांना लांब उडवून देईल. तुला वाटले की दुसरी राष्ट्रे तुला मदत करतील. पण त्या राष्ट्रांचाही पराभव होईल. मग खरोखरच तू निराश होशील. तू केलेल्या वाईट गोष्टींची तुला लाज वाटेल.

²³O dweller in Lebanon, making a nest among cedars, How gracious hast thou been when pangs come to thee, Pain — as of a travailing woman.

²³“राजा, तू तुझ्या उंच डोंगरावरच्या गंधसरुच्या लाकडापासून बनविलेल्या वाड्यात राहतोस! म्हणजेच जणू काही जेथून हे लाकूड येते त्या लबानोनमध्येच राहतोस तुला वाटते की तू सुरक्षित आहेस! कारण तू उंच डोंगरावर मोठ्या घरात राहतोस पण तुला शिक्षा झाल्यावर तू खरोखर विव्हळशील. तुला प्रसूतिवेदनांप्रमाणे वेदना होतील.”

²⁴I live — an affirmation of Jehovah, Though Coniah son of Jehoiakim king of Judah Were a seal on My right hand, Surely thence I draw thee away,

²⁴“मी निश्र्चितपणे आहे म्हणूनच हे तुझ्याबाबत घडेल” हा परमेश्वराकडून आलेला संदेश आहे, “यहोयाकीन, यहोयाकीमच्या मुला, यहूदाच्या राजा, जरी तू माझ्या उजव्या हातातील मुद्रा असलास, तरीही मी तुला उखडून टाकले असते. तुझ्याबाबतीत असेच घडेल.

²⁵And I have given thee into the hand of those seeking thy life, And into hands of which thou art afraid, Into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, And into the hand of the Chaldeans.

²⁵यहोयाकीन, मी तुला बाबेलचा राजा नबुखद्नेस्सर व खास्दी लोक ह्यांच्या हवाली करीन. तू त्या लोकांना घाबरतोस. ते तुला ठार मारु इच्छितात.

²⁶And I have cast thee, And thy mother who bore thee, unto another country, Where ye were not born, and there do ye die.

²⁶तुझी व तुझ्या आईची जन्मभूमी नसलेल्या देशात, मी, तुला व तुझ्या आईला फेकून देईन. तेथेच तुम्ही दोघे मराल.

²⁷And to the land whither they are lifting up their soul to return, Thither they do not return.

²⁷यहोयाकीन, तू ह्या भूमीत परत यायला बघशील. पण तुला येथे परत येऊ दिले जाणार नाही.”

²⁸A grief — a despised broken thing — is this man Coniah? A vessel in which there is no pleasure? Wherefore have they been cast up and down, He and his seed, Yea, they were cast on to a land that they knew not?

²⁸कोणीतरी फेकून दिलेल्या, फुटक्या भांड्याप्रमाणे कोन्या (यहोयाकीन) आहे. कोणालाही नको असलेल्या भांड्याप्रमाणे तो आहे. यहोयाकीन व त्याची मुले ह्यांना बाहेर का फेकले जाईल? परक्या देशात त्यांना का फेकून देण्यात येईल?

²⁹Earth, earth, earth, hear a word of Jehovah,

²⁹यहूदाच्या हे भूमी, भूमी, भूमी, परमेश्वराचा संदेश ऐक!

³⁰Thus said Jehovah: Write ye this man childless, A man — he doth not prosper in his days, For none of his seed doth prosper, Sitting on the throne of David, And ruling again in Judah!

³⁰परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “यहोयाकीनबद्दल हे लिहून घे. तो नि:संतान आहे, ‘तो त्याच्या आयुष्यात यशस्वी होणार नाही. त्याचा कोणताही मुलगा दावीदच्या सिंहासनावर बसणार नाही कोणताही मुलगा यहूदावर राज्य करणार नाही.”
