¹In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, hath this word been from Jehovah, saying:

¹यहूदाचा राजा यहोयाकीम ह्याच्या कारकिर्दीच्या पाहिल्याच वर्षी परमेश्वराकडून हा संदेश आला. यहोयकीम हा योशीया राजाचा मुलगा होता.

²`Thus said Jehovah, Stand thou in the court of the house of Jehovah, and thou hast spoken unto all [those of] the cities of Judah who are coming in to bow themselves in the house of Jehovah, all the words that I have commanded thee to speak unto them, thou dost not diminish a word.

²परमेश्वर म्हणाला, “यिर्मया, परमेश्वराच्या मंदिराच्या प्रांगणात उभा राहा आणि परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरात उपासना करण्यास येणाऱ्यांना हा संदेश दे. मी तुला सांगितलेले सर्व यहूदातील सगळ्या लोकांना सांग. माझ्या संदेशातील कोणताही भाग गाळू नकोस.

³If so be they hearken, and turn back each from his evil way, then I have repented concerning the evil that I am thinking of doing to them, because of the evil of their doings.

³कदाचित् ते ऐकतीलही आणि माझ्या संदेशाचे पालन करतील. पापी जीवन जगण्याचे ते कदाचित् सोडून देतील. त्यांचे परिवर्तन झाल्यास, त्यांना शिक्षा करण्याच्या माझ्या बेतांबद्दल मीही कदाचित् पुनर्विचार करीन. त्यांनी खूप वाईट कृत्ये केली. त्याबद्दल त्यांना शिक्षा करण्याची योजना मी आखत आहे.

⁴`And thou hast said unto them: Thus said Jehovah, If ye do not hearken unto Me, to walk in My law, that I set before you,

⁴तू त्यांना सांग ‘परमेश्वर काय म्हणतो ते ऐका: मी तुम्हाला माझी शिकवण दिली. तुम्ही माझ्या आज्ञा पाळल्याच पाहिजेत आणि माझ्या शिकवणुकीप्रमाणे वागलेच पाहिजे.

⁵To hearken to the words of My servants the prophets, whom I am sending unto you, yea, rising early and sending, and ye have not hearkened,

⁵माझ्या सेवकांनी तुम्हाला सांगितलेल्या गोष्टी तुम्ही ऐकल्याच पाहिजेत. (संदेष्टे माझे सेवक आहेत) मी पुन्हा पुन्हा माझे सेवक पाठविले. पण तुम्ही त्यांचे ऐकले नाही.

⁶Then I have given up this house as Shiloh, and this city I give up for a reviling to all nations of the earth.`

⁶तुम्ही माझे ऐकले नाही तर मी माझे यरुशलेममधील मंदिर शीलोमधील माझ्या पवित्र तंबूप्रमाणे करीन दुसऱ्या शहरांवर अरिष्ट यावे असे वाटणाऱ्या लोकांना यरुशलेम जरुर आठवेल.”

⁷And the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, hear Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of Jehovah,

⁷परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरातील यिर्मयाचे हे बोलणे याजकांनी, संदेष्ट्यांनी आणि सगळ्या लोकांनी ऐकले.

⁸And it cometh to pass, at the completion of Jeremiah`s speaking all that Jehovah hath commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests, and the prophets, and all the people catch him, saying, Thou dost surely die,

⁸परमेश्वराने आज्ञा केल्याप्रमाणे, यिर्मयाने, परमेश्वराने सांगितलेली प्रत्येक गोष्ट सांगितली, नंतर याजकांनी, संदेष्ट्यांनी आणि लोकांनी यिर्मयाला धरले. ते म्हणाले, “अशा भयंकर गोष्टी सांगितल्याबद्दल तू मरशील!

⁹Wherefore hast thou prophesied in the name of Jehovah, saying, `As Shiloh this house shall be, and this city is wasted, without inhabitant?` and all the people are assembled unto Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah.

⁹परमेश्वराच्या नावावर अशा भयंकर गोष्टी सांगण्याचे धाडस तू कसे काय करु शकतोस! शिलोच्या मंदिराप्रमाणे ह्या मंदिराचा नाश होईल, असे म्हणण्याचे साहस तू कसे काय करु शकतोस. यरुशलेम निर्जन वाळवंटाप्रमाणे होईल असे तू कसे काय म्हणू शकतोस!” परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरात सर्व लोक यिर्मयाभोवती जमले.

¹⁰And the heads of Judah hear these things, and they go up from the house of the king [to] the house of Jehovah, and sit in the opening of the new gate of Jehovah.

¹⁰यहूदातील राज्यकर्त्यांना ही सर्व हकिगत कळली, म्हणून ते राजवाड्यातून बाहेर आले व देवाच्या मंदिरात गेले. तेथे ते नव्या प्रवेशद्वाराजवळ आपापल्या स्थानांवर बसले. ‘नवे प्रवेशद्वार’ परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरात जाण्याचे दार होते.

¹¹And the priests and the prophets speak unto the heads, and unto all the people, saying, `Judgment of death [is] for this man, for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears.`

¹¹नंतर याजक व संदेष्टे राज्यकर्त्यांशी व लोकाशी बोलले. ते म्हणाले “यिर्मयाला ठार करावे. यरुशलेमबद्दल तो वाईट भविष्यकथन करतो तुम्ही त्याचे बोलणे ऐकलेच आहे.”

¹²And Jeremiah speaketh unto all the heads, and unto all the people, saying, `Jehovah sent me to prophesy concerning this house, and concerning this city, all the words that ye have heard;

¹²मग यिर्मया यहूदाच्या राज्यकर्त्यांशी व इतर लोकांशी बोलला तो म्हणाला, “ह्या नगरीबद्दल व ह्या मंदिराबद्दल ह्या गोष्टी सांगण्यासाठी परमेश्वरानेच मला पाठविले. तुम्ही ऐकलेला प्रत्येक शब्द परमेश्वराच्या तोंडचा आहे.

¹³And now, amend your ways, and your doings, and hearken to the voice of Jehovah your God, and Jehovah doth repent concerning the evil that He hath spoken against you.

¹³तुम्ही तुमची वागणूक बदला. तुम्ही सत्कृत्ये करायला सुरवात केलीच पाहिजे. तुम्ही परमेश्वराचे, तुमच्या देवाचे ऐकलेच पाहिजे. तुम्ही असे वागलात, तर परमेश्वराचे हृदयपरिवर्तन होईल. त्याने सांगितलेल्या वाईट गोष्टी तो करणार नाही.

¹⁴`And I, lo, I [am] in your hand, do to me as is good and as is right in your eyes;

¹⁴माझ्याबद्दल म्हणाल, तर मी तुमच्या हातात आहे. तुम्हाला योग्य व बरोबर वाटेल ते करा.

¹⁵Only, know ye certainly, that if ye are putting me to death, surely innocent blood ye are putting on yourselves, and on this city, and on its inhabitants; for truly hath Jehovah sent me unto you to speak in your ears all these words.`

¹⁵पण तुम्ही मला ठार मारलेत, तर एका गोष्टीची खात्री बाळगा. निरपराध माणसाला मारल्याबद्दल तुम्ही अपराधी ठराल. तुम्ही ह्या नगरीला आणि तिच्यात राहणाऱ्या प्रत्येक माणसालाही अपराधी बनवाल. परमेश्वराने खरोखरीच मला तुमच्याकडे पाठविले आहे. तुम्ही ऐकलेला संदेश खरेच परमेश्वराकडूनच आलेला आहे.”

¹⁶And the heads and all the people say unto the priests and unto the prophets, `There is not for this man a judgment of death, for in the name of Jehovah our God he hath spoken unto us.`

¹⁶मग राज्यकर्ते व सर्व लोक बोलले, त्या लोकांनी याजकांना व संदेष्ट्यांना सांगितले, “यिर्मयाला अजिबात मारु नका. त्याने आपल्याला सांगितलेल्या गोष्टी परमेश्वराकडून आपल्या देवाकडून येतात.”

¹⁷And certain of the elders of the land rise up, and speak unto all the assembly of the people, saying,

¹⁷नंतर काही वडीलधारी (नेते) उभे राहिले. ते सर्व लोकांना उद्देशून म्हणाले,

¹⁸`Micah the Morashtite hath been prophesying in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and he saith unto all the people of Judah, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Zion is a plowed field, and Jerusalem is heaps, And the mountain of the house is for high places of a forest.

¹⁸“संदेष्टा मीखा हा मोरष्टचा राहणारा होता. हिज्कीया यहूदाचा राजा असताना मीखा संदेष्टा होता. मीखाने यहूदाच्या लोकांना पुढील गोष्टी सांगितल्या. सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “सियोनेचा नाश होईल सियोन नांगरलेले शेत होईल. यरुशलेम दगडांची रास होईल. मंदिर असलेल्या टेकडीवर रान माजेल.”

¹⁹`Put him at all to death did Hezekiah king of Judah, and all Judah? Did he not fear Jehovah? yea, he appeaseth the face of Jehovah, and Jehovah repenteth concerning the evil that He spake against them; and we are doing great evil against our souls.

¹⁹“हिज्कीया यहूदाचा राजा होता. पण हिज्कीयाने मीखाला ठार मारले नाही. यहूदातील कोणीही मीखाला ठार मारले नाही. हिज्कीयाला परमेश्वराबद्दल आदर होता, हे तुम्हाला माहीतच आहे. त्याला परमेश्वराला प्रसन्न ठेवण्याची इच्छा होती. हिज्कीया यहूदाचे वाईट करील असे परमेश्वराने सांगितले होते. पण हिज्कीयाने परमेश्वराची करुणा भाकली आणि परमेश्वराचे हृदयपरिवर्तन झाले. परमेश्वराने त्या वाईट गोष्टी घडू दिल्या नाहीत. आपण जर यिर्मयाला इजा केली, तर आपण स्वत:वरच खूप संकटे ओढवून घेऊन ती आपलीच चूक ठरेल.”

²⁰`And also there hath been a man prophesying in the name of Jehovah, Urijah son of Shemaiah, of Kirjath-Jearim, and he prophesieth against this city, and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah,

²⁰पूर्वी आणखी एकाने परमेश्वराचा संदेश ऐकविला होता. त्याचे नाव उरीया तो शमायाचा मुलगा होता. उरीया किर्याथ यारीमचा रहिवासी होता. त्याने ह्या नगरीच्या विरोधात आणि या भूमीच्याही विरोधात, यिर्मयाप्रमाणेच गोष्टी सांगितल्या होत्या.

²¹And the king Jehoiakim, and all his mighty ones, and all the heads, hear his words, and the king seeketh to put him to death, and Urijah heareth, and feareth, and fleeth, and goeth in to Egypt.

²¹राजा यहोयाकीम, त्याचे सैन्याधिकारी व यहूदातील नेते ह्यांनी उरीयाला संदेश देताना ऐकले. ते रागावले. यहोयाकीम राजा उरीयाला मारु इच्छित होता. हे उरीयाला कळले. तो घाबरला व मिसर देशात पळाला.

²²And the king Jehoiakim sendeth men to Egypt — Elnathan son of Achbor, and men with him unto Egypt —

²²पण यहोयाकीम राजाने एलनाथान नावाच्या माणसाबरोबर आणखी काही माणसे देऊन त्यांना मिसरला पाठविले. एलनाथान अखबोरचा मुलगा होता,

²³And they bring out Urijah from Egypt, and bring him in unto the king Jehoiakim, and he smiteth him with a sword, and casteth his corpse unto the graves of the sons of the people.`

²³त्या माणसांनी उरीयाला मिसरहून परत आणले. ते त्याला यहोयाकीम राजाकडे घेऊन गेले. यहोयाकीमने उरीयाला तलवारीने मारण्याचा हुकूम दिला. नंतर गरीब लोकांच्या दफनभूमीत त्याचे प्रेत फेकण्यात आले.

²⁴Only, the hand of Ahikam son of Shaphan hath been with Jeremiah so as not to give him up into the hand of the people to put him to death.

²⁴पण अहीकाम या प्रतिष्ठित व्यक्तीने यिर्मयाला पाठिंबा दिला अहीकाम शाफानचा मुलगा होता. त्याने यिर्मयाला याजक व संदेष्टे यांच्यापासून वाचविले.
