¹And these [are] words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the remnant of the elders of the removal, and unto the priests, and unto the prophets, and unto all the people — whom Nebuchadnezzar removed from Jerusalem to Babylon,

¹बाबेलमध्ये राहणाऱ्या यहूदी कैद्यांना निर्मयाने एक पत्र पाठविले. त्यांने ते पत्र वडीलधारी (नेते) याजक, संदेष्टे आणि बाबेलमध्ये राहणाऱ्या इतर सर्व लोकांना पाठविले. ह्या सर्वजणांना नबुखद्नेस्सरने यरुशलेममधून बाबेलला आणले होते.

²After the going forth of Jeconiah the king, and the mistress, and the officers, heads of Judah and Jerusalem, and the artificer, and the smith, from Jerusalem —

²(राजा यकन्या, राजमाता, अधिकारी, यहूदाचे व यरुशलेमचे नेते, सुतार व लोहार ह्यांना यरुशलेममधून नेल्यावर यिर्मयाने हे पत्र पाठविले)

³By the hand of Eleasah son of Shaphan, and Gemariah son of Hilkijah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon — to Babylon, saying,

³सिद्कीयाने एलास व गमऱ्या यांना नबुखद्नेस्सर राजाकडे पाठविले. सिद्कीया यहूदाचा राजा होता. एलास शाफानचा व गमऱ्या हिल्कीयाचा मुलगा होता, यिर्मयाने, बाबेलला नेण्यासाठी, या दोघांजवळ, पत्र दिले. पत्रातील मजकूर असा होता.

⁴`Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, to all the removal that I removed from Jerusalem to Babylon,

⁴यरुशलेममधून कैद करुन ज्या लोकांना यरुशलेमहून बाबेलला नेले आहे त्या सर्व लोकांना सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर, इस्राएलचा देव असे सांगतो

⁵Build ye houses, and abide; and plant ye gardens, and eat their fruit;

⁵“घरे बांधून त्यात राहा. तेथे वस्ती करा बागा लावा आणि तुम्ही पिकविलेले खा.

⁶Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take for your sons wives, and your daughters give to husbands, and they bear sons and daughters; and multiply there, and ye are not few;

⁶लग्न करा. तुम्हाला मुलेबाळे होऊ द्या. तुमच्या मुलांचीही लग्ने होऊ द्या. म्हणजे त्यांनाही संतती होईल. तुम्हाला खूप संतती होऊ द्या. तुमची संख्या बाबेलमध्ये वाढू द्या. तुम्ही अल्पसंख्यक राहून नका.

⁷And seek the peace of the city whither I have removed you, and pray for it unto Jehovah, for in its peace ye have peace.

⁷मी तुम्हाला ज्या शहरांत पाठविले आहे, त्या शहरांचा फायदा करा. तुम्ही राहत असलेल्या शहराच्या भल्यासाठी प्रभूकडे प्रार्थना करा. का? कारण त्या शहरात शांतता नांदत असेल तर तुम्हालाही शांती मिळेल.”

⁸`For thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Let not your prophets who [are] in your midst, and your diviners, lift you up, nor hearken ye unto their dreams, thay ye are causing [them] to dream;

⁸सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर, इस्राएलचा देव म्हणतो, “तुमचे संदेष्टे आणि जादू करणारे लोक ह्यांच्याकडून फसू नका. त्यांना पडलेली स्वप्ने ऐकू नका.

⁹For with falsehood they are prophesying to you in My name; I have not sent them, an affirmation of Jehovah.

⁹ते खोटा उपदेश करीत आहेत, व तो संदेश असून तो मी पाठविल्याचे सांगत आहेत. पण मी त्यांना पाठविलेला नाही.” हा परमेश्वराकडून आलेला संदेश आहे.

¹⁰`For thus said Jehovah, Surely at the fulness of Babylon — seventy years — I inspect you, and have established towards you My good word, to bring you back unto this place.

¹⁰परमेश्वर असे म्हणतो, “सत्तर वर्षापर्यंत बाबेल सामर्थ्यशाली राहील. त्यानंतर बाबेलमध्ये राहणाऱ्या तुम्हा लोकांकडे मी येईन. तुम्हाला यरुशलेमला परत आणण्याचे सुवचन मी पूर्ण करीन.

¹¹For I have known the thoughts that I am thinking towards you — an affirmation of Jehovah; thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give to you posterity and hope.

¹¹तुमच्याविषयीच्या योजना मला माहीत असल्याने मी असे म्हणतो.” हा परमेश्वराचा संदेश आहे “तुमच्यासाठी मी चांगल्या योजना आखल्या आहेत. तुम्हाला दु:खविण्याचा माझा बेत नाही. तुम्हाला आशा आणि उज्वल भविष्य देण्याचे मी योजले आहे.

¹²`And ye have called Me, and have gone, and have prayed unto Me, and I have hearkened unto you,

¹²मग तुम्ही माझा धावा कराल. माझ्याकडे याल. माझी प्रार्थना कराल. मग मी तुमच्या हाकेला ओ देईन.

¹³And ye have sought Me, and have found, for ye seek Me with all your heart;

¹³तुम्ही मला शोधाल आणि तुम्ही जेव्हा मनापासून मला शोधाल, तेव्हा मी तुम्हाला सापडेन.

¹⁴And I have been found of you — an affirmation of Jehovah; and I have turned back [to] your captivity, and have gathered you out of all the nations, and out of all the places whither I have driven you — an affirmation of Jehovah — and I have brought you back unto the place whence I removed you.

¹⁴मी स्वत:ला तुमच्याकडून सापडवून घेईल.” हा परमेश्वराचा संदेश आहे “मी तुमची कैदेतून सुटका करीन. मी तुम्हाला ही जागा सोडायला लावली आता मी तुम्हाला ज्या ज्या राष्ट्रांत आणि प्रदेशात पाठविले होते तेथून गोळा करीन.” हा परमेश्वराचा संदेश आहे. “आणि जेथून तुम्हाला मी कैदी म्हणून पकडून दूर नेण्यास भाग पाडले होते त्या जागी परत आणीन.”

¹⁵`Because ye have said, Jehovah hath raised up to us prophets in Babylon,

¹⁵“आम्हाला बाबेलमध्ये परमेश्वराने संदेष्टे दिले असे कदाचित् तुम्ही म्हणू शकाल.”

¹⁶Surely thus said Jehovah concerning the king who is sitting on the throne of David, and concerning all the people that is dwelling in this city, your brethren who went not forth with you in the removal;

¹⁶पण बाबेलमध्ये ज्यांना आणले गेले नाही, त्या तुमच्या आप्तांविषयी परमेश्वर पुढील गोष्टी सांगतो. ह्या गोष्टी दावीदाच्या सिंहासनावर आता बसलेल्या राजासाठी व यरुशलेममध्ये अजूनही राहत असलेल्या लोकांसाठी आहेत.

¹⁷Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Lo, I am sending among them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and I have given them up as figs that [are] vile, that are not eaten for badness.

¹⁷सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “यरुशलेममध्ये अजूनही राहत असलेल्या लोकांविरुद्ध मी लढाई उपासमार व रोगराई या आपत्ती पाठवीन. मी त्यांची स्थिती, खाण्यास अयोग्य असलेल्या नासक्या अंजिरासारखी करीन.

¹⁸And I have pursued after them with sword, with famine, and with pestilence, and have given them for a trembling to all kingdoms of the earth, for a curse and for an astonishment, and for a hissing, and for a reproach among all the nations whither I have driven them,

¹⁸मी अजूनही यरुशलेममध्ये राहत असलेल्या लोकांचा लढाई, उपासमार व भयंकर रोगराई ह्यांनी पाठपुरावा करीन. ह्यामुळे लोकांची जी स्थिती होईल ती जगातील राज्यांचा भीतीने थरकाप उडवेल. ज्या राष्ट्रांत जायला त्यांना मी भाग पाडीन, तेथे तेथे त्यांच्याकडे एक शाप म्हणून पाहिले जाईल. ह्या लोकांची स्थिती पाहून ते विस्मयाने सुस्करे सोडतील.

¹⁹Because that they have not hearkened unto My words — an affirmation of Jehovah — that I sent unto them by My servants the prophets, rising early and sending, and ye hearkened not — an affirmation of Jehovah.

¹⁹यरुशलेममधील लोकांनी माझे ऐकले नाही, म्हणून मी असे घडवून आणीन.” हा परमेश्वराकडून आलेला संदेश आहे “मी माझा संदेश पुन्हा पुन्हा त्यांच्याकडे पाठविला. माझा संदेश देण्यासाठी मी माझ्या सेवकांना, माझ्या संदेष्ट्यांना त्यांच्याकडे पाठविले. पण त्या लोकांनी ऐकले नाही.” हा परमेश्वराचा संदेश आहे.

²⁰`And ye, hear ye a word of Jehovah, all ye of the captivity that I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon,

²⁰“तुम्ही कैदी आहात. मी तुम्हाला बळजबरीने यरुशलेम सोडायला लावले व बाबेलला पाठविले. म्हणून परमेश्वराचा संदेश ऐका.”

²¹Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, concerning Ahab son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah son of Maaseiah, who are prophesying to you in My name falsehood: Lo, I am giving them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he hath smitten them before your eyes,

²¹कोयालाचा मुलगा अहाब व मासेयाचा मुलगा सिद्कीया यांच्याविषयी सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर असे म्हणतो “ह्या दोघांनी तुम्हाला खोटा संदेश दिला आहे व तो संदेश माझ्याकडून आला असे त्यांनी सांगितले. पण ते खोटे बोलले. मी त्या दोघा संदेष्ट्यांना, बाबेलचा राजा नबुखद्नेस्सरच्या ताब्यात देईन आणि बाबेलचे कैदी असलेल्या तुम्हा सर्व लोकांसमोर तो त्यांना ठार करील

²²And taken from them hath been a reviling by all the removed of Judah that [are] in Babylon, saying, Jehovah doth set thee as Zedekiah, and as Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted with fire;

²²यहूदी कैदी दुसऱ्याचे वाईट चिंततांना त्या दोघांच्या नावाचा उदाहरण म्हणून उपयोग करतील. ते म्हणतील, ‘सिद्कीया व अहाब यांच्याप्रमाणे परमेश्वर तुमचे वाईट करो! बाबेलच्या राजाने त्या दोघांना जाळले.’

²³Because that they have done folly in Israel, and commit adultery with the wives of their neighbours, and speak a word in My name falsely that I have not commanded them, and I [am] He who knoweth and a witness — an affirmation of Jehovah.

²³त्या दोघा संदेष्ट्यांनी इस्राएलमध्ये फार वाईट कृत्ये केली. शेजाऱ्यांच्या बायकांबरोबर त्यांनी व्यभिचार केला. त्यांनी खोटे सांगितले आणि माझा संदेश खोटे असल्याचे लोकांना सांगितले मी त्यांना ह्या गोष्टी करायला सांगितल्या नव्हत्या त्यांनी काय केले आहे, ते मला माहीत आहे मी त्याला साक्षी आहे.” हा परमेश्वराकडून आलेला संदेश आहे.

²⁴`And unto Shemaiah the Nehelamite thou dost speak, saying,

²⁴शमायालासुद्धा संदेश दे. शमाया नेहेलमी घराण्यातील आहे.

²⁵Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, saying, Because that thou hast sent in thy name letters unto all the people who [are] in Jerusalem, and unto Zephaniah son of Maaseiah the priest, and unto all the priests, saying,

²⁵सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर, इस्राएलचा देव म्हणतो, “शमाया, तू यरुशलेममधील सर्व लोकांना पत्रे पाठविलीस. मासेयाचा मुलगा याजक सफन्या ह्यासही तू पत्रे पाठविलीस. तू सर्व याजकांनाही पत्रे पाठविलीस. परमेश्वराची परवानगी न घेता, स्वत:च्या नावाने तू पत्रे पाठविलीस.

²⁶Jehovah hath made thee priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, for there being inspectors of the house of Jehovah, for every one mad and making himself a prophet, and thou hast put him unto the torture and unto the stocks.

²⁶शमाया, सफन्याला पाठविलेल्या पत्रात तू असे लिहितोस ‘सफन्या, परमेश्वराने तुला यहोयदाच्या जागी याजक म्हणून नेमले आहे. परमेश्वराच्या मंदिराचा तू उत्तराधिकारी आहेस. जो कोणी वेड्याप्रमाणे वागेल, वा संदेष्टा असल्याचे भासवेल, त्याला तू अटक करावेस. तू त्या माणसाचे पाय लाकडाच्या खोड्यात अडकवून त्याच्या गळ्यात लोखंडाची बेडी घालावी.

²⁷And now, why hast thou not pushed against Jeremiah of Anathoth, who is making himself a prophet to you?

²⁷हल्ली यिर्मया आपण संदेष्टा असल्याचे दाखवीत आहे. मग तू त्याला अटक का केले नाहीस?

²⁸Because that he hath sent unto us to Babylon, saying, It [is] long, build ye houses, and abide; and plant ye gardens, and eat their fruit.`

²⁸यिर्मयाने बाबेलमध्ये आम्हाला असा संदेश पाठविला “तुम्हाला बाबेलमध्ये बराच काळ राहावे लागेल, म्हणून घरे बांधा, वस्ती करा, बागा लावा व स्वत: पिकविलेले खा.”

²⁹And Zephaniah the priest readeth this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.

²⁹याजक सफन्याने हे पत्र संदेष्टा यिर्मयाला वाचून दाखविले.”‘

³⁰And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah, saying,

³⁰मग यिर्मयाला परमेश्वराचा संदेश मिळाला तो असा:

³¹`Send unto all the removal, saying, Thus said Jehovah concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite, Because that Shemaiah prophesied to you, and I — I have not sent him, and he doth cause you to trust on falsehood,

³¹“यिर्मया, बाबेलमध्ये असलेल्या सर्व कैद्यांना पुढील निरोप पाठव नेहेलमी घराण्यातील शमाया ह्या माणसाबद्दल परमेश्वर असे म्हणतो ‘शमायाने तुम्हाला उपदेश केला. पण मी त्याला पाठविलेले नाही. शमायाने तुम्हाला खोटे सांगून त्यावर विश्वास ठेवायला लावले.

³²Therefore, thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am seeing after Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and after his seed, he hath none dwelling in the midst of this people, nor doth he look on the good that I am doing to My people — an affirmation of Jehovah — for apostacy he hath spoken against Jehovah.`

³²शमाया असे वागला म्हणून परमेश्वर म्हणतो की मी नेहेलमी घराण्यातील शमायाला लवकरच शिक्षा करीन. मी त्याच्या घराण्याचा सर्वनाश करीन. मी माझ्या लोकांसाठी ज्या चांगल्या गोष्टी करीन, त्यात त्याचा वाटा असणार नाही.” हा परमेश्वराचा संदेश आहे “शमायाने लोकांना परमेश्वराविरुद्ध पढविले म्हणून मी त्याला शिक्षा करीन.”
