¹The word that Jehovah hath spoken concerning Babylon, concerning the land of the Chaldeans, by the hand of Jeremiah the prophet:

¹बाबेल व खास्दी ह्यंच्यासाठी परमेश्वराने पुढील संदेश दिला हा संदेश देवाने यिर्मयामार्फत दिला.

²`Declare ye among nations, and sound, And lift up an ensign, sound, do not hide, Say ye: Captured hath been Babylon, Put to shame hath been Bel, Broken hath been Merodach, Put to shame have been her grievous things, Broken have been her idols.

²“सर्व राष्ट्रांत घोषणा कर! झेंडा उंच उभारुन संदेश दे. माझा सगळा संदेश दे आणि सांग ‘बाबेल काबीज केला जाईल. बेल दैवताची फजिती होईल. मरदोख घाबरुन जाईल. बाबेलच्या मूर्तींची विटंबना केली जाईल. त्या भयभीत होतील.’

³For come up against her hath a nation from the north, It maketh her land become a desolation, And there is not an inhabitant in it. From man even unto beast, They have moved, they have gone.

³उत्तरेकडचे राष्ट्र बाबेलवर चढाई करील. ते राष्ट्र बाबेलचे ओसाड वाळवंट करील. तेथे कोणीही राहणार नाही. माणसे व प्राणी, दोघेही, तेथून पळ काढतील”

⁴In those days, and at that time, An affirmation of Jehovah, Come in do sons of Israel, They and sons of Judah together, Going on and weeping they go, And Jehovah their God they seek.

⁴परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “त्या वेळी इस्राएलचे व यहूदाचे लोक एकत्र येतील. ते एकत्र येऊन रडतील, आणि एकत्रितपणेच त्यांच्या परमेश्वर देवाचा शोध घेतील.

⁵[To] Zion they ask the way, Thitherward [are] their faces: Come in, and we are joined unto Jehovah, A covenant age-during — not forgotten.

⁵ते सियोनची वाट विचारतील, व ते त्या दिशेने चालायला सुरवात करतील. लोक म्हणतील, ‘चला, आपण स्वत: परमेश्वराला जाऊन मिळू या, अखंड राहणारा एक करार करु या. आपण कधीही विसरणार नाही असा करार करु या.’

⁶A perishing flock hath My people been, Their shepherds have caused them to err, [To] the mountains causing them to go back, From mountain unto hill they have gone, They have forgotten their crouching-place.

⁶“माझे लोक चुकलेल्या मेंढराप्रमाणे आहेत. त्यांच्या मेंढपाळांनी (नेत्यांनी) त्यांना चुकीच्या मार्गाने नेले. त्यांना डोंगर टेकड्यांतून भटकायला लावले. ते त्यांच्या विश्रांतीची जागा विसरले.

⁷All finding them have devoured them, And their adversaries have said: We are not guilty, Because that they sinned against Jehovah, The habitation of righteousness, And the hope of their fathers — Jehovah.

⁷ज्यांना माझे लोक सापडले, त्यांनी त्यांना दुखवले, आणि ते शत्रू म्हणाले, ‘आम्ही काहीही चूक केली नाही.’ त्या लोकांनी परमेश्वराविरुद्ध पाप केले. परमेश्वरच खरा त्यांचे विश्रांतिस्थान होता. त्यांच्या वडिलांनी परमेश्वर देवावरच विश्वास ठेवला.

⁸Move ye from the midst of Babylon, And from the land of the Chaldeans go out. And be as he-goats before a flock.

⁸“बाबेलपासून दूर पळा खास्द्यांची भूमी सोडा कळपाच्या पुढे चालणाऱ्या एडक्याप्रमाणे व्हा.

⁹For, lo, I am stirring up, And am causing to come up against Babylon, An assembly of great nations from a land of the north, And they have set in array against her, From thence she is captured, Its arrow — as a skilful hero — returneth not empty,

⁹मी उत्तरेकडून खूप राष्ट्रांना एकत्र आणीन. ते बाबेलविरुद्ध लढायला सज्ज होतील. उत्तरेकडचे लोक बाबेल काबीज करतील. ते बाबेलवर बाणांचा वर्षाव करतील. ते बाण, युद्धावरुन रिकाम्या हाताने कधीच न परतणाऱ्या, सैनिकांप्रमाणे असतील.

¹⁰And Chaldea hath been for a spoil, All her spoilers are satisfied, An affirmation of Jehovah.

¹⁰शत्रू खास्द्यांची सर्व संपत्ती घेतील. सैनिक त्यांना पाहिजे ते लुटून नेतील.” परमेश्वरानेच ह्या गोष्टी सांगितल्या.

¹¹Because thou rejoicest, because thou exultest, O spoilers of Mine inheritance, Because thou increasest as a heifer [at] the tender grass, And dost cry aloud as bulls,

¹¹“बाबेल, तू आनंदी व उल्हसित आहेस तू माझी भूमी घेतलीस. धान्यात शिरलेल्या गायीप्रमाणे तू नाचतेस. तू आनंदाने घोड्याप्रमाणे खिंकाळतेस.

¹²Ashamed hath been your mother greatly, Confounded hath she been that bare you, Lo, the hindermost of nations [is] a wilderness, A dry land, and a desert.

¹²“आता तुझी आई खजील होईल. तुला जन्म देणारी ओशाळवाणी होईल. बाबेल सर्व राष्ट्रांत क्षुद्र ठरेल. ती म्हणजे ओसाड, निर्जन वाळवंट होईल.

¹³Because of the wrath of Jehovah it is not inhabited, And it hath been a desolation — all of it. Every passer by at Babylon is astonished, And doth hiss because of all her plagues.

¹³परमेश्वर आपला क्रोध प्रकट करील, म्हणून तेथे कोणीही राहणार नाही. बाबेल संपूर्ण निर्जन होईल. “बाबेल जवळून जाणारा प्रत्येकजण भयभीत होईल. बाबेलचा असा वाईट रीतीने नाश झालेला पाहून ते हळहळतील.

¹⁴Set yourselves in array against Babylon round about, All ye treading a bow, Shoot at her, have no pity on the arrow, For against Jehovah she hath sinned.

¹⁴“बाबेलविरुद्ध लढण्यास सज्ज व्हा. धनुर्धाऱ्यांनो बाबेलवर बाणांचा वर्षाव करा. त्यात कमतरता करु नका. बाबेलने परमेश्वराविरुद्ध पाप केले आहे.

¹⁵Shout against her round about, She hath given forth her hand, Fallen have her foundations, Thrown down have been her walls, For it [is] the vengeance of Jehovah, Be avenged of her, as she did — do ye to her.

¹⁵बाबेलला वेढा घातलेल्या सैनिकांनो जयघोष करा. बाबेलने शरणागती पत्करली आहे. तिची तटबंदी व बुरुज पाडले आहेत. परमेश्वर त्यांना योग्य तीच शिक्षा करीत आहे. तिच्या लायकीप्रमाणे, तुम्ही राष्ट्रांनी तिला शिक्षा द्यावी. तिने जसे इतर राष्ट्रांशी वर्तन, केले, तसेच तिच्याशी करा.

¹⁶Cut off the sower from Babylon, And him handling the sickle in the time of harvest, Because of the oppressing sword, Each unto his people — they turn, And each to his land — they flee.

¹⁶बाबेलमधील लोकांना धान्य पेरु देऊ नका. त्यांना पीक काढू देऊ नका. बाबेलच्या सैनिकांनी खूप कैद्यांना त्यांच्या शहरात आणले. पण आता शत्रू सैनिक आले आहेत, त्यामुळे कैदी आपापल्या घरी परत जात आहेत. ते आपल्या देशांकडे धाव घेत आहेत.

¹⁷A scattered sheep is Israel, lions have driven away, At first, devour him did the king of Asshur, And now, at last, broken his bone Hath Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon.

¹⁷“सर्व देशभर पसरलेल्या मेंढ्यांच्या कळपाप्रमाणे इस्राएल आहे. सिंहाने पाठलाग करुन दूर पळवून लावलेल्या मेंढराप्रमाणे इस्राएल आहे. त्यांच्यावर प्रथम हल्ला करणारा सिंह म्हणजे अश्शूरचा राजा आणि त्याची हाडे मोडणारा अखेरच सिंह म्हणजे बाबेलचा राजा नबुखद्नेस्सर होय.”

¹⁸Therefore thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am seeing after the king of Babylon, And after his land, As I have seen after the king of Asshur;

¹⁸म्हणून सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर, इस्राएलचा देव म्हणतो, “मी लवकरच बाबेलच्या राजाला व त्याच्या देशाला शिक्षा करीन. अश्शुरच्या राजाला केली तशीच बाबेलच्या राजाला मी शिक्षा करीन.

¹⁹And I have brought back Israel unto his habitation, And he hath fed on Carmel, and on Bashan. And in mount Ephraim, and on Gilead is his soul satisfied.

¹⁹“मी इस्राएलला त्याच्या भूमीत परत आणीन. कर्मेलच्या डोंगरावर व बाशानच्या भूमीत वाढलेले धान्य तो खाईल व तृप्त होईल. एफ्राईम व गिलाद येथील टेकड्यांवर तो चरेल.”

²⁰In those days, and at that time, An affirmation of Jehovah, Sought is the iniquity of Israel, and it is not, And the sin of Judah, and it is not found, For I am propitious to those whom I leave!

²⁰परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “त्या वेळी, लोक, इस्राएलचे अपराध शोधण्याचे कसून प्रयत्न करतील. पण अपराध असणारच नाही. लोक यहूदाची पापे शोधण्याचे प्रयत्न करतील. पण त्यांना एकही पाप सापडणार नाही. का? कारण मी इस्राएलमधील व यहूदातील काही वाचलेल्या लोकांचे रक्षण करीन आणि त्यांनी पाप केले असले तरी त्यांना क्षमा करीन.”

²¹Against the land of Merathaim: Go up against it, and unto the inhabitants of Pekod, Waste and devote their posterity, An affirmation of Jehovah, And do according to all that I have commanded thee.

²¹परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “मराथाईमवर हल्ला करा. पकोडच्या लोकांवर चढाई करा. त्यांच्यावर हल्ला करा. त्यांना ठार करा. त्यांचा संपूर्ण नाश करा. माझ्या आज्ञेप्रमाणे करा.

²²A noise of battle [is] in the land, and of great destruction.

²²“युध्दाचा खणखणाट सर्व देशातू ऐकू जाऊ शकेल. तो मोठ्या नाशाचा आवाज असेल.

²³How hath it been cut and broken, The hammer of the whole earth! How hath Babylon been for a desolation among nations!

²³बाबेलला ‘सर्व जगाचा हातोडा’ असे म्हटले गेले. पण आता ‘हातोड्याचे तुकडे तुकडे झाले आहेत इतर राष्ट्रापेक्षा बाबेलचा सर्वाधिक नाश झाला आहे.

²⁴I have laid a snare for thee, And also — thou art captured, O Babylon, And thou — thou hast known, Thou hast been found, and also art caught, For against Jehovah thou hast stirred thyself up.

²⁴बाबेल, मी तुझ्यासाठी सापळा रचला, आणि तुला समजण्याआधीच तू पकडला गेलास. तू परमेश्वराविरुद्ध लढलास, म्हणून तू सापडलास व पकडला गेलास.

²⁵Jehovah hath opened His treasury, And He bringeth out the weapons of His indignation, For a work [is] to the Lord Jehovah of Hosts, In the land of the Chaldeans.

²⁵परमेश्वराने आपले कोठार उघडले आहे. त्यांच्या क्रोधाची हत्यारे परमेश्वराने बाहेर आणली आहेत. खास्द्यांच्या देशात सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर देवाला काम करायचे असल्याने त्याने ती हत्यारे बाहेर काढली आहेत.

²⁶Come ye in to her from the extremity, Open ye her storehouses, Raise her up as heaps, and devote her, Let her have no remnant.

²⁶दूरवरुन बाबेलवर चालून या. तिची धान्याची कोठारे फोडा. बाबेलचा संपूर्ण नाश करा. कोणालाही जिवंत सोडू नका. धान्याच्या राशीप्रमाणे प्रेतांच्या राशी घाला.

²⁷Slay all her kine, they go down to slaughter, Wo [is] on them, for come hath their day, The time of their inspection.

²⁷बाबेलमधल्या सर्व तरुण बैलांना (पुरुषांना) ठार करा. त्यांची कत्तल होऊ द्या. त्यांच्या पराभवाची वेळ आली आहे. त्यांचे फार वाईट होईल. ही त्यांच्या शिक्षेची वेळ आहे.

²⁸A voice of fugitives and escaped ones [Is] from the land of Babylon, To declare in Zion the vengeance of Jehovah our God, The vengeance of His temple.

²⁸लोक बाबेलमधून बाहेर धावत आहेत. ते त्या देशातून सुटका करुन घेत आहेत. ते सियोनला येत आहेत. परमेश्वराच्या कृत्याबद्दल ते प्रत्येकाला सांगत आहेत. बाबेलला योग्य अशी शिक्षा परमेश्वर करीत असल्याबद्दल ते सांगत आहेत. बाबेलने परमेश्वराचे मंदिर उद्ध्वस्त केले म्हणून आता परमेश्वर बाबेलचा नाश करीत आहे.

²⁹Summon unto Babylon archers, all treading the bow, Encamp against her round about, Let [her] have no escape; Recompense to her according to her work, According to all that she did — do to her, For unto Jehovah she hath been proud, Unto the Holy One of Israel.

²⁹“धनुर्धाऱ्यांना बोलवा. त्यांना बाबेलवर हल्ला करायला सांगा. त्यांना शहराला वेढा घालायला सांगा. कोणालाही पळू देऊ नका. तिने केलेल्या दुष्कृत्यांची परतफेड करा. तिने इतर राष्ट्रांशी जसे वर्तन केले, तसेच तिच्याशी करा. बाबेलने परमेश्वराला मान दिला नाही. इस्राएलच्या पवित्र परमेश्वराशी तिने उध्दटपणा केला. म्हणून बाबेलला शिक्षा करा.

³⁰Therefore fall do her young men in her broad places, And all her men of war are cut off in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah.

³⁰बाबेलच्या तरुणांना रस्त्यांत ठार केले जाईल. त्याच दिवशी तिचे सर्व सैनिक मरतील.” परमेश्वराने ह्या गोष्टी सांगितल्या.

³¹Lo, I [am] against thee, O pride, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah of Hosts, For thy day hath come, the time of thy inspection.

³¹“बाबेल, तू फार गर्विष्ठ आहेस, आणि मी तुझ्या विरुद्ध आहे” आमचा प्रभू, सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर ह्या गोष्टी सांगतो. “मी तुझ्या विरुद्ध आहे, आणि तुझी शिक्षेची वेळ आली आहे.

³²And stumbled hath pride, And he hath fallen, and hath no raiser up, And I have kindled a fire in his cities, And it hath devoured all round about him.

³²गर्विष्ठे बाबेल अडखळून पडेल आणि तिला उठायला कोणीही मदत करणार नाही. तिच्यातील गावांत मी आग लावीन. ती आग तिच्याभोवतालच्या प्रत्येकाला भस्मसात करील.”

³³Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Oppressed are the sons of Israel, And the sons of Judah together, And all their captors have kept hold on them, They have refused to send them away.

³³सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “इस्राएल व यहूदा येथील लोक गुलाम झाले आहेत. शत्रूने त्यांना पकडून नेले व तो इस्राएलला सोडणार नाही.

³⁴Their Redeemer [is] strong, Jehovah of Hosts [is] His name, He doth thoroughly plead their cause, So as to cause the land to rest, And He hath given trouble to the inhabitants of Babylon.

³⁴पण परमेश्वर त्या लोकांना परत आणेल. त्याचे नाव आहे ‘सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर देव’ तो समर्थपणे त्या लोकांचे रक्षण करील. त्यामुळे त्या देशाला विश्रांती मिळू शकेल. पण बाबेलच्या लोकांना विश्रांती मिळणार नाही.”

³⁵A sword [is] for the Chaldeans, An affirmation of Jehovah, And it [is] on the inhabitants of Babylon, And on her heads, and on her wise men;

³⁵देव म्हणतो, “तलवारी, बाबेलवासीयांना ठार कर. बाबेलमधील राजाच्या अधिकाऱ्यांना व ज्ञानी लोकांना ठार कर.

³⁶A sword [is] on the princes, And they have become foolish; A sword [is] on her mighty ones, And they have been broken down;

³⁶तलवारी, बाबेलच्या याजकांना आणि खोट्या संदेष्ट्यांना ठार मार, ते मूर्ख माणंसांसारखे होतील. बाबेलच्या सैनिकांना ठार मार, ते सैनिक भीतीने गर्भगळीत झाले आहेत.

³⁷A sword [is] on his horses and on his chariot, And on all the rabble who [are] in her midst, And they have become women; A sword [is] on her treasuries, And they have been spoiled;

³⁷तलवारी, बाबेलचे घोडे व रथ नष्ट कर. दुसऱ्या देशांतून आणलेल्या भाडोत्री सैनिकांना मार. ते सैनिक अतिशय घाबरलेल्या स्त्रियांप्रमाणे भयभीत होतील. तलवारी, बाबेलच्या संपत्तीचा नाश कर. ती संपत्ती लुटली जाईल.

³⁸A sword [is] on her waters, and they have been dried up, For it [is] a land of graven images, And in idols they do boast themselves.

³⁸तलवारी, बाबेलच्या पाण्याला झळ पोहोचव, तेथील सर्व पाणी सुकून जाईल. बाबेलमध्ये पुष्कळ मूर्ती आहेत त्या मूर्ती बाबेलचे लोक मूर्ख असल्यांचे दर्शवितात म्हणून त्या लोकांचे वाटोळे होईल.

³⁹Therefore dwell do Ziim with Iim, Yea, dwelt in her have daughters of the ostrich, And it is not inhabited any more for ever, Nor dwelt in unto all generations.

³⁹“पुन्हा कधीही बाबेलमध्ये मनुष्यवस्ती होणार नाही. जंगली, कुत्रे, शहामृग, आणि वाळवंटातील इतर प्राणी तेथे राहतील. पण कोणीही मनुष्याप्राणी तेथे पुन्हा कधीही राहणार नाही.

⁴⁰As overthrown by God with Sodom, And with Gomorrah, and with its neighbours, An affirmation of Jehovah, none doth dwell there, Nor sojourn in her doth a son of man.

⁴⁰देवाने सदोम, गमोरा आणि त्या भोवतालच्या गावांचा संपूर्ण नाश केला. ती ठिकाणे आता निर्जन झाली आहेत. त्याचप्रमाणे, बाबेलमध्येही कोणी राहणार नाही, आणि तेथे कोणीही वस्ती करायला जाणार नाही.

⁴¹Lo, a people hath come from the north, Even a great nation, And many kings are stirred up from the sides of the earth.

⁴¹“पाहा! उत्तरेकडून लोक येत आहेत. ते एका शक्तिशाली राष्ट्रांतून येत आहेत. सर्व जगातील पुष्कळ राजे एकत्र येत आहेत.

⁴²Bow and halbert they seize, Cruel [are] they, and they have no mercy, Their voice as a sea soundeth, and on horses they ride, Set in array as a man for battle, Against thee, O daughter of Babylon.

⁴²त्यांच्या सैन्यांजवळ धनुष्यबाण व भाले आहेत. ते सैनिक क्रूर आहेत. त्यांच्याजवळ दया नाही. ते घोड्यांवर स्वार होऊन येतात. त्या घोड्यांच्या टापांचा आवाज समुद्राच्या गर्जनेप्रमाणे असतो. ते आपापल्या जागा घेऊन लढाईसाठी उभे ठाकतात. बाबेल नगरावर हल्ला करण्यासाठी ते सज्ज आहेत.

⁴³Heard hath the king of Babylon their report, And feeble have been his hands, Distress hath seized him; pain as a travailing woman.

⁴³बाबेलच्या राजाने ह्या सैन्याबद्दल ऐकले, आणि तो फारच घाबरला. भीतीने त्याचे हातपाय गळून गेले. प्रसून्न होणाऱ्या स्त्रीप्रमाणे त्याला कष्ट झाले.”

⁴⁴Lo, as a lion he cometh up, Because of the rising of the Jordan, Unto the enduring habitation, But I cause to rest, I cause them to run from off her. And who is chosen? on her I lay a charge, For who [is] like Me? And who doth convene Me? And who [is] this shepherd who standeth before Me?

⁴⁴परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “कधीतरी, यार्देन नदीजवळच्या दाट झुडुपांतून सिंह येईल, व तो शेतांतील गोठ्यांमध्ये जाईल. मग सर्व गुरे दूर पळून जातील. मी त्या सिंहासारखाच असेन. बाबेलच्या भूमीपासूनच मी बाबेलला हुसकून लावीन. ह्यासाठी मी कोणाची निवड करावी बरे? कोणीही माझ्यासारखा नाही. मला आव्हान देणाराही कोणी नाही. म्हणून मीच हे करीन. मला पळवून लावण्यास कोणीही मेंढपाळ येणार नाही. मी बाबेलच्या लोकांचा पाठलाग करीन.”

⁴⁵Therefore, hear ye the counsel of Jehovah, That He counselled concerning Babylon, And His devices that He hath devised Concerning the land of the Chaldeans; Drag them out do not little ones of the flock, Doth He not make desolate over them the habitation?

⁴⁵बाबेलसाठी परमेश्वराने काय बेत केला आहे तो ऐका. खास्द्यांसाठी परमेश्वराने काय करायचे निश्र्च्ति केले आहे ते ऐका. बाबेलच्या कळपातील (लोकांतील) लहान मुलांना शत्रू फरपटत नेईल. मग बाबेलच्या कुरणांचा संपूर्ण नाश होईल. ह्या घटनेमुळे बाबेलला धक्का बसेल.

⁴⁶From the voice: Captured was Babylon, Hath the earth been shaken, And a cry among nations hath been heard!

⁴⁶बाबेल पडेल, आणि त्यामुळे पृथ्वी हादरेल राष्ट्रांतील लोक बाबेलचा आक्रोश ऐकतील.
