1And there riseth after Abimelech, to save Israel, Tola son of Puah, son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, and he is dwelling in Shamir, in the hill-country of Ephraim,
1अबीमलेखच्या मृत्यूनंतर इस्राएल लोकांच्या रक्षणासाठी देवाने तोला या न्यायाधीशाची योजना केली. तोला हा पुवाचा मुलगा आणि पुवा दोदोचा. तोला इस्साखारच्या वंशातील होता व एफ्राईमच्या डोंगराळ प्रदेशातील शामीर या नगरात राहात असे.
2and he judgeth Israel twenty and three years, and he dieth, and is buried in Shamir.
2तोलाने तेवीस वर्षे इस्राएल लोकांमध्ये काम केले. त्यांच्या मृत्यूनंतर त्याला शामीरमध्ये पुरण्यात आले.
3And there riseth after him Jair the Gileadite, and he judgeth Israel twenty and two years,
3तोलानंतर देवाने याईरची नेमणूक केली. तो गिलाद भागात राहणारा होता. त्याने बावीस वर्षे न्यायाधीश म्हणून काम पाहिले.
4and he hath thirty sons riding on thirty ass-colts, and they have thirty cities, (they call them Havoth-Jair unto this day), which [are] in the land of Gilead;
4याला तीस मुलगे होते आणि ते तीस गाढवांवर बसून गिलादमधील तीस गावांचा कारभार पाहात असत. या गावाना अजूनही याईरची गावे म्हणून ओळखले जाते.
5and Jair dieth, and is buried in Kamon.
5याईरच्या मृत्यूनंतर त्याचे कामोन नगरात दफन करण्यात आले.
6And the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and serve the Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the Bene-Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsake Jehovah, and have not served Him;
6इस्राएल लोकांनी परमेश्वराला अमान्य असलेल्या गोष्टी पुन्हा करायला सुरूवात केली. बआल, अष्टारोथ, या दैवतांची तसेच अरामी, सीदोनी, मवाबी, अम्मोनी तसेच पलिष्टी या लोकांच्या दैवतांची त्यानी उपासना करायला सुरुवात केली. आपल्या परमेश्वरापासून ते दूर गेले, त्याची सेवा करणे त्यांनी थांबवले.
7and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He selleth them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the Bene-Ammon,
7तेव्हा परमेश्वराचा त्यांच्यावर कोप झाला. त्याने अम्मोनी आणि पलिष्टी या लोकांच्या हातून त्यांचा पराभव करवला.
8and they crush and oppress the sons of Israel in that year — eighteen years all the sons of Israel [who] are beyond the Jordan, in the land of the Amorite, which [is] in Gilead.
8त्याच वर्षी गिलादांच्या प्रदेशात, यार्देन नदीच्या पूर्वेला राहणाऱ्या इस्राएल लोकांचा त्या लोकांनी संहार केला. हा प्रदेश अमोरी लोकांचा होता. या भागातील इस्राएल लोकांना अठरा वर्षे हाल अपेष्टा काढाव्या लागल्या.
9And the Bene-Ammon pass over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, and Israel hath great distress.
9अम्मोनी लोक मग यार्देनच्या पलीकडे गेले यहूदा, बन्यामीन आणि एफ्राईम यांच्या वंशजांशी त्यांनी लढाया केल्या. अम्मोनी लोकांमुळे इस्राएल लोकांना फार त्रास भोगावा लागला.
10And the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, saying, `We have sinned against Thee, even because we have forsaken our God, and serve the Baalim.`
10तेव्हा इस्राएल लोकांनी परमेश्वराचा धावा केला. ते म्हणाले, “परमेश्वरा, आम्ही दुष्कृत्य केले आहे. देवाला सोडून आम्ही बआल या भलत्या दैवताची उपासना केली आहे.”
11And Jehovah saith unto the sons of Israel, `[Have I] not [saved you] from the Egyptians, and from the Amorite, from the Bene-Ammon, and from the Philistines?
11परमेश्वर इस्राएल लोकांना म्हणाला, “मिसरी, अमोरी, अम्मोनी, पलिष्टी अशा वेगवेगव्व्या लोकांकडून जेव्हा जेव्हा तुम्हाला जाच झाला तेव्हा तेव्हा तुम्ही माझ्याकडे गाऱ्हाणे आणलेत. मी तुमची सुटका करत गेलो.
12And the Zidonians, and Amalek, and Maon have oppressed you, and ye cry unto Me, and I save you out of their hand;
12सीदोनी, अमालेकी, मिद्यानी यांनीही तुम्हाला छळले तेव्हा तुम्ही माझ्याकडे आलात. तेव्हा ही मी तुम्हाला वाचवले.
13and ye — ye have forsaken Me, and serve other gods, therefore I add not to save you.
13पण मला सोडून तुम्ही भलत्या दैवतांच्या पाठीमागे लागलात. तेव्हा आता पुन्हा मी तुमच्या मदतीला येणार नाही.
14Go and cry unto the gods on which ye have fixed; they — they save you in the time of your adversity.`
14त्या दैवतांची उपासना करायला तुम्हाला आवडते, तेव्हा आता त्यांनाच बोलवा आणि मदतीसाठी विनंती करा. त्यांनाच तुमचे संकटातून रक्षण करु द्या.”
15And the sons of Israel say unto Jehovah, `We have sinned, do Thou to us according to all that is good in Thine eyes; only deliver us, we pray Thee, this day.`
15पण इस्राएल लोकांनी परमेश्वराची विनवणी केली. ते म्हणाले, “आमचे चुकले आम्हाला हवी ती शिक्षा दे, पण आता आम्हाला वाचव.”
16And they turn aside the gods of the stranger out of their midst, and serve Jehovah, and His soul is grieved with the misery of Israel.
16मग इस्राएल लोकांनी त्या परक्या दैवतांचा त्याग केला. परमेश्वराकडे ते पुन्हा एकदा वळले. त्यांचे हाल पाहून परमेश्वराला त्यांची दया आली.
17And the Bene-Ammon are called together, and encamp in Gilead, and the sons of Israel are gathered together, and encamp in Mizpah.
17अम्मोनी लोक युध्दासाठी एकत्र जमले. गिलाद प्रदेशात त्यांची छावणी होती. इस्राएल लोकही एकत्र आले. मिस्या येथे त्यांनी तळ दिला.
18And the people — heads of Gilead — say one unto another, `Who [is] the man that doth begin to fight against the Bene-Ammon? he is for head to all inhabitants of Gilead.`
18गिलाद प्रदेशातील लोकांचे नेते म्हणाले, “अम्मोनी लोकांवरील हल्ल्याचे जो कोणी नेतृत्व करील तो गिलाद प्रदेशातील आम्हा लोकांचा मुख्य होईल.”
