1And it cometh to pass, after [some] days, in the days of wheat-harvest, that Samson looketh after his wife, with a kid of the goats, and saith, `I go in unto my wife, to the inner chamber;` and her father hath not permitted him to go in,
1गव्हाच्या कापणीच्या हंगामात शमशोन आपल्या बायकोच्या भेटीला निघाला. एक करडूही त्याने भेटीदाखल घेतले. माझ्या पत्नीच्या दालनात मी जातो असे तो म्हणाला. पण तिच्या वडीलांनी त्याला आत जायला मज्जाव केला.
2and her father saith, I certainly said, that thou didst certainly hate her, and I give her to thy companion; is not her sister — the young one — better than she? Let her be, I pray thee, to thee, instead of her.`
2ते त्याला म्हणाले, “तुला तर ती नकोशी झाली आहे असे मला वाटले. म्हणून तुमच्या विवाहतील सोबत्याशी मी तिचे लग्न लावून दिले. तिची धाकटी बहीण तिच्यापेक्षा देखणी आहे. तेव्हा तू तिच्याशी लग्न कर.”
3And Samson saith of them, `I am more innocent this time than the Philistines, though I am doing with them evil.`
3पण शमशोन म्हणाला, “आता पलिष्ट्यांचे नुकसान करायला मला चांगले निमित्त मिळाले आहे. मला आता त्याबद्दल कोणी दोष देणार नाही.”
4And Samson goeth and catcheth three hundred foxes, and taketh torches, and turneth tail unto tail, and putteth a torch between the two tails, in the midst,
4मग बोहेर पडून त्याने तीनशे कोल्हे धरले दोन दोन कोल्ह्यांच्या शेपट्या एकत्र बांधून तिथे एक एक मशाल बांधली.
5and kindleth fire in the torches, and sendeth [them] out into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burneth [it] from heap even unto standing corn, even unto vineyard — olive-yard.

6And the Philistines say, `Who hath done this?` And they say, `Samson, son-in-law of the Timnite, because he hath taken away his wife, and giveth her to his companion;` and the Philistines go up, and burn her and her father with fire.
6“कोणी केले हे सगळे?” पलिष्टी विचारु लागले. कोणी तरी म्हणाले. “तिम्न येथील एकाचा जावई शमशोन हा या सगव्व्याच्या पाठीमागे आहे. कारण त्याच्या सासऱ्याने आपली मुलगी शमशोन ऐवजी त्यांच्या विवाहातील सोबत्याला दिली.” हे ऐकल्यावर पलिष्ट्यांनी शमशोनची बायको आणि तिचे वडील यांना जिवंत जाळले.
7And Samson saith to them, `Though ye do thus, nevertheless I am avenged on you, and afterwards I cease!`
7तेव्हा शमशोन पलिष्ट्यांना म्हणाला, “तुम्ही माझ्याशी वाईट वागलात. आता मी ही तुमच्याशी वाईट वागेन त्यानंतरच मी थांबेन.”
8And he smiteth them hip and thigh — a great smiting, and goeth down and dwelleth in the cleft of the rock Etam.
8शमशोनने मग पलिष्ट्यांवर हल्ला चढवला. त्यात अनेक जण ठार झाले. त्यानंतर शमशोन एटाम खडकांमधील गुहेत राहिला.
9And the Philistines go up, and encamp in Judah, and are spread out in Lehi,
9इकडे पलिष्टी लोक यहूदात गेले आणि लेही या ठिकाणी त्यांनी तळ दिला. तेथून त्यांनी युध्दाची तयारी सुरु केली.
10and the men of Judah say, `Why have ye come up against us?` and they say, `To bind Samson we have come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.`

11And three thousand men of Judah go down unto the cleft of the rock Etam, and say to Samson, `Hast thou now known that the Philistines are rulers over us? and what [is] this thou hast done to us?` And he saith to them, `As they did to me, so I did to them.`
11हे ऐकल्यावर तीन हजार यहूदी एटाम खडकातील गुहेपाशी शमशोनला भेटायला गेले. ते त्याला म्हणाले, “तू हे काय केलेस? आपल्यावर पलिष्ट्यांचे राज्य आहे हे तुला समजत नाही का?” शमशोन म्हणाला, “ते माझ्याशी जसे वागले तशीच त्यांना मी शिक्षा दिली आहे.”
12And they say to him, `To bind thee we have come down — to give thee into the hand of the Philistines.` And Samson saith to them, `Swear to me, lest ye fall upon me yourselves.`
12त्यावर ते लोक शमशोनला म्हणाले, “आम्ही तुझ्या मुसक्या बांधून तुला पलिष्ट्यांच्या स्वाधीन करायला आलो आहोत.” शमशोन म्हणाला, “तुम्ही स्वत: मला इजा करणार नाही एवढा शब्द तुम्ही मला द्या.”
13And they speak to him, saying, No, but we certainly bind thee, and have given thee into their hand, and we certainly do not put thee to death;` and they bind him with two thick bands, new ones, and bring him up from the rock.
13यहूदी म्हणाले, “मान्य आहे, आम्ही फक्त तुला बांधून पलिष्ट्यांच्या हवाली करतो तुझ्या जिवाला धक्कालावणार नाही.” त्याप्रमाणे त्यांनी शमशोनला दोन नवीन दोरखंडांनी बांधून गुहेतून वर आणले.
14He hath come unto Lehi — and the Philistines have shouted at meeting him — and the Spirit of Jehovah prospereth over him, and the thick bands which [are] on his arms are as flax which they burn with fire, and his bands are wasted from off his hands,
14शमशोन लेही या ठिकाणी आला तेव्हा पलिष्टी लोक त्याला सामोरे आले. ते आनंदाने आरोव्व्या मारत होते त्याच वेळी शमशोनमध्ये परमेश्वराच्या आत्म्याचा प्रचंड सामर्थ्यानिशी संचार झाला. तेव्हा शमशोनचे दोरखंड जसे काही वाखाच्या जळलेल्या दोरीप्रमाणे कुचकामी झाले आणि त्यामुळे ते त्याच्या दंडांवरून आपोआप गळून पडले.
15and he findeth a fresh jaw-bone of an ass, and putteth forth his hand and taketh it, and smiteth with it — a thousand men.
15तेव्हा शमशोनला तिथे एका मृत गाढवाचे जबड्याचे हाड सापडले. त्याच्या साहाय्याने त्याने एक हजार पलिष्टी लोकांना ठार केले.
16And Samson saith, `With a jaw-bone of the ass — an ass upon asses — with a jaw-bone of the ass I have smitten a thousand men.`
16तेव्हा शमशोन म्हणाला. गाढवाच्या जबड्याच्या हाडाने मारली मी माणसे हजार! गाढवाच्या जबड्याच्या हाडाने रचली मी त्यांची उंच रास.
17And it cometh to pass when he finisheth speaking, that he casteth away the jaw-bone out of his hand, and calleth that place Ramath-Lehi;
17बोलणे संपल्यावर शमशोनने ते हाड तेथेच खाली टाकले. म्हणून त्या जागेचे नाव पडले, “रामथ-लेही’ म्हणजेच जबड्याच्या हाडाची टेकडी.
18and he thirsteth exceedingly, and calleth unto Jehovah, and saith, `Thou — Thou hast given by the hand of Thy servant this great salvation; and now, I die with thirst, and have fallen into the hand of the uncircumcised.`
18शमशोन तहानेने व्याकुळ झाला. तेव्हा त्याने परमेश्वराचा धावा केला. तो म्हणाला, “तुझा मी दास आहे. हा एवढा मोठा विजय तू मला मिळवून दिलास तेव्हा आता मला तहानेने तू खचितच मरु देणार नाहीस? ज्यांची सुंताही झालेली नाही अशा लोकांच्या तावडीत मी सापडू नये.”
19And God cleaveth the hollow place which [is] in Lehi, and waters come out of it, and he drinketh, and his spirit cometh back, and he reviveth; therefore hath [one] called its name `The fountain of him who is calling,` which [is] in Lehi unto this day.
19तेव्हा देवाने लेहीत खडक फोडून एक भेग पाडली आणि त्यातून पाणी बाहेर उसळले शमशोन ते पाणी पिऊन ताजातवाना झाला. पुन्हा त्याच्या अंगात जोर आला. त्या झऱ्याचे नाव त्याने एन-हक्कोरे म्हणजे “धावा करणाऱ्याचा झरा” असे ठेवले. लेही शहरात हा झरा अजूनही आहे.
20And he judgeth Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
20पलिष्ट्यांच्या अमदानीत शमशोन वीस वर्षे इस्राएलचा न्यायाधीश होता.
