1My son, if thou dost accept my sayings, And my commands dost lay up with thee,

2To cause thine ear to attend to wisdom, Thou inclinest thy heart to understanding,
2ज्ञानाचे ऐक. आणि ते समजून घेण्यासाठी प्रयत्नांची पराकाष्ठा कर.
3For, if for intelligence thou callest, For understanding givest forth thy voice,
3ज्ञानासाठी ओरड आणि समजून घेण्यासाठी आवाज चढव.
4If thou dost seek her as silver, And as hid treasures searchest for her,
4ज्ञानाचा चांदीसारखा शोध घे. गुप्तधनाप्रमाणे त्याचा शोध घे.
5Then understandest thou fear of Jehovah, And knowledge of God thou findest.
5जर तू या गोष्टी केल्यास तर तू परमेश्वराला मान द्यायला शिकशील. तू खरोखरच देवाविषयी शिकशील.
6For Jehovah giveth wisdom, From His mouth knowledge and understanding.
6परमेश्वर ज्ञान देतो. ज्ञान आणि समज त्याच्या मुखातून येते.
7Even to lay up for the upright substance, A shield for those walking uprightly.
7तो चांगल्या आणि प्रामाणिक माणसांना मदत करतो. सरळ मार्गावर चालणाऱ्या लोकांसाठी तो ढालीसारखा आहे.
8To keep the paths of judgment, And the way of His saints He preserveth.
8जे लोक इतरांशी न्यायाने वागतात त्यांचे तो रक्षण करतो. त्याच्या पवित्र लोकांचे तो रक्षण करतो.
9Then understandest thou righteousness, And judgment, and uprightness — every good path.

10For wisdom cometh into thy heart, And knowledge to thy soul is pleasant,

11Thoughtfulness doth watch over thee, Understanding doth keep thee,
11ज्ञान तुझे रक्षण करील. आणि समज तुला सांभाळेल.
12To deliver thee from an evil way, From any speaking froward things,
12ज्ञान आणि समज तुला दुष्ट लोकांसारखे चुकीचे जीवन जगण्यापासून परावृत्त करतील. ते लोक बोलतानाही दुष्टपणा करतात.
13Who are forsaking paths of uprightness, To walk in ways of darkness,

14Who are rejoicing to do evil, They delight in frowardness of the wicked,

15Whose paths [are] crooked, Yea, they are perverted in their ways.

16To deliver thee from the strange woman, From the stranger who hath made smooth her sayings,

17Who is forsaking the guide of her youth, And the covenant of her God hath forgotten.

18For her house hath inclined unto death, And unto Rephaim her paths.
18तिच्या बरोबर घरात जाणे म्हणजे विनाशाकडे नेणारे पहिले पाऊल उचलणे. जर तू तिच्या मागे गेलास तर ती तुला तुझ्या कबरेकडे घेऊन जाईल.
19None going in unto her turn back, Nor do they reach the paths of life.
19ती उघड्या कबरेसारखी आहे. जे लोक तिच्याकडे आत जातात ते जीवनाला मुकतात आणि पुन्हा कधीच परत येत नाहीत.
20That thou dost go in the way of the good, And the paths of the righteous dost keep.
20ज्ञान तुला चांगल्या लोकांचे उदाहरण पुढे ठेवून चालायला व त्यांच्याप्रमाणे जगायला मदत करील.
21For the upright do inhabit the earth, And the perfect are left in it,
21चांगले प्रमाणिक लोक स्वत:च्या जमीनीवर राहातील. साधे प्रमाणिक लोक स्वत:ची जमीन राखतील.
22And the wicked from the earth are cut off, And treacherous dealers plucked out of it!
22परंतु दुष्ट लोक त्यांच्या जमीनीला मुकतील. जे लोक खोटे बोलतात व फसवतात त्यांना त्यांच्या जमिनीपासून दूर नेले जाईल.
