1Be not envious of evil men, And desire not to be with them.
1वाईट लोकांचा मत्सर करु नका. त्यांच्याबरोबर तुमचा वेळ वाया घालवू नका.
2For destruction doth their heart meditate, And perverseness do their lips speak.
2ते त्यांच्या मनात वाईट गोष्टी करण्याच्या योजना आखत असतात. ते फक्त त्रास देण्याच्या गोष्टी बोलत असतात.
3By wisdom is a house builded, And by understanding it establisheth itself.
3चांगली घरे शहाणपण आणि समजूतदारपणा यावर आधारलेली असतात.
4And by knowledge the inner parts are filled, [With] all precious and pleasant wealth.
4आणि सर्व मौल्यवान आणि प्रसन्न करणाऱ्या संपत्तीने खोल्या भरल्या जातात.
5Mighty [is] the wise in strength, And a man of knowledge is strengthening power,
5शहाणपण माणसाला अधिक सामर्थ्यवान बनवते. ज्ञान माणसाला शक्ती देते.
6For by plans thou makest for thyself war, And deliverance [is] in a multitude of counsellors.
6युध्द सुरु करण्याआधी तुम्ही काळजीपूर्वक योजना आखली पाहिजे. तुम्हाला जर (युध्द) जिंकायचे असेल तर तुम्हाला अनेक चांगले मार्गदर्शक हवेत.
7Wisdom [is] high for a fool, In the gate he openeth not his mouth.
7मूर्ख लोकांना शहाणपण कळू शकत नाही. आणि लोक जेव्हा महत्वाच्या गोष्टींची चर्चा करतात तेव्हा मूर्ख माणूस काहीही बोलू शकत नाही.
8Whoso is devising to do evil, Him they call a master of wicked thoughts.
8जर तुम्ही नेहमी त्रास देण्याच्याच योजना आखत असाल तर लोकांना तुम्हीच त्रास देणारे आहात हे कळेल आणि ते तुमचे ऐकणार नाहीत.
9The thought of folly [is] sin, And an abomination to man [is] a scorner.
9मूर्ख माणूस ज्या गोष्टी करायच्या ठरवतो ते पाप असते. जो स्वत: ला इतरांपेक्षा चांगला समजतो त्याचा लोक तिरस्कार करतात.
10Thou hast shewed thyself weak in a day of adversity, Straitened is thy power,
10जर तुम्ही संकटाच्या वेळी दुर्बल असाल तर तुम्ही खरोखरच दुर्बल आहात.
11If [from] delivering those taken to death, And those slipping to the slaughter — thou keepest back.
11जर लोक एखाद्याला ठार मारण्याचे ठरवीत असतील तर तुम्ही त्याला वाचवायला हवे.
12When thou sayest, `Lo, we knew not this.` Is not the Ponderer of hearts He who understandeth? And the Keeper of thy soul He who knoweth? And He hath rendered to man according to his work.
12“माझा त्याच्याशी काही संबंध नाही” असे तुम्ही म्हणू शकत नाही. परमेश्वराला सर्व माहीत असते. आणि तुम्ही काही गोष्टी का करता ते त्याला माहीत असते. परमेश्वर तुमच्यावर लक्ष ठेवतो. त्याला सर्व कळते. आणि तुम्ही ज्या गोष्टी करता त्याबद्दल परमेश्वर तुम्हाला बक्षीस देईल.
13Eat my son, honey that [is] good, And the honeycomb — sweet to thy palate.
13मुला, मध खा, तो चांगला असतो. मधाच्या पोळ्यामधला मध गोड असतो.
14So [is] the knowledge of wisdom to thy soul, If thou hast found that there is a posterity And thy hope is not cut off.
14त्याचप्रमाणे शहाणपण तुमच्या आत्म्यासाठी चांगले असते. तुमच्या जवळ शहाणपण असेल तर तुमच्या जवळ आशाही असेल आणि तुमची आशा कधीही मावळणार नाही.
15Lay not wait, O wicked one, At the habitation of the righteous. Do not spoil his resting-place.
15चांगल्या माणसाकडून काही चोरु पाहणाऱ्या किंवा त्याचे घर बळकावू पहाणाऱ्या चोरासारखे होऊ नका.
16For seven [times] doth the righteous fall and rise, And the wicked stumble in evil.
16चांगला माणूस जर सात वेळा पडला तर तो पुन्हा उभा राहतो. पण वाईट लोकांचा संकटात नेहमी पराभव होईल.
17In the falling of thine enemy rejoice not, And in his stumbling let not thy heart be joyful,
17तुमचा शत्रू संकटात असतो तेव्हा आनंद मानू नका. तो पडतो तेव्हा आनंदून जाऊ नका.
18Lest Jehovah see, and [it be] evil in His eyes, And He hath turned from off him His anger.
18जर तुम्ही तसे केलेत तर परमेश्वर ते बघेल आणि परमेश्वराला तुमच्याविषयी आनंद वाटणार नाही. नंतर परमेश्वर कदाचित् तुमच्या शत्रूला मदत करील.
19Fret not thyself at evil doers, Be not envious at the wicked,
19दुष्ट लोकांना तुम्हाला तुम्हाला काळजीत पडायला लावू देऊ नका आणि दुष्टांचा मत्सर करु नका.
20For there is not a posterity to the evil, The lamp of the wicked is extinguished.
20या दुष्ट लोकांना आशा नसते. त्यांचा प्रकाश काळोख होईल.
21Fear Jehovah, my son, and the king, With changers mix not up thyself,
21मुला, परमेश्वराचा आणि राजाचा आदर कर. आणि जे लोक त्यांच्या विरुध्द आहेत त्यांच्यात सामील होऊ नकोस.
22For suddenly doth their calamity rise, And the ruin of them both — who knoweth!
22का? कारण त्या प्रकारच्या माणसांचा लगेच नाश होऊ शकतो. देव आणि राजा त्यांच्या शत्रूंसाठी किती संकटे निर्माण करु शकतात हे तुम्हाला माहीत नाही.
23These also are for the wise: — To discern faces in judgment is not good.
23हे शहाण्या माणसाचे शब्द आहेत. न्यायाधीशाने अगदी न्यायी असले पाहिजे. एखादा माणूस त्याच्या माहितीतला आहे म्हणून त्याला त्याने पाठिंबा देऊ नये.
24Whoso is saying to the wicked, `Thou [art] righteous,` Peoples execrate him — nations abhor him.
24जर न्यायाधीशाने अपराधी माणसाला ‘तू जाऊ शकतोस’ असे सांगितले तर लोक त्याच्याविरुध्द जातील. आणि राष्ट्रे त्याच्याविरुध्द वाईट गोष्टी बोलतील.
25And to those reproving it is pleasant, And on them cometh a good blessing.
25पण जर न्यायाधीशाने अपराध्याला शासन केले तर सर्व लोक आनंदी होतील.
26Lips he kisseth who is returning straightforward words.
26खरे उत्तर सर्वांना आनंदी करते. ते ओठावरच्या चुंबनासारखे वाटते.
27Prepare in an out-place thy work, And make it ready in the field — go afterwards, Then thou hast built thy house.
27शेतात पेरणी करण्याआधी तुमचे घर बांधू नका. धान्य पिकवण्याची तुमची तयारी आहे याची आधी खात्री करा. मग घर बांधा.
28Be not a witness for nought against thy neighbour, Or thou hast enticed with thy lips.
28काही चांगले कारण असल्याशिवाय कुणाच्याही विरुध्द बोलू नका. खोटे सांगू नका.
29Say not, `As he did to me, so I do to him, I render to each according to his work.`
29“त्याने मला दु:ख दिले म्हणून मीही त्याला तसेच करीन. त्याने मला त्रास दिला म्हणून मी त्याला शिक्षा करीन.” असे म्हणू नका.
30Near the field of a slothful man I passed by, And near the vineyard of a man lacking heart.
30मी आळशी माणसाच्या शेताजवळून जात होतो. मी शहाणा नसलेल्या माणसाच्या द्राक्षाच्या मळ्याजवळून जात होतो. त्या
31And lo, it hath gone up — all of it — thorns! Covered its face have nettles, And its stone wall hath been broken down.
31शेतात सगळीकडे तण माजले होते. क्षुल्लक वनस्पती तिथे वाढत होत्या. आणि शेताभोवतालची भिंत तुटली होती आणि पडायला आली होती.
32And I see — I — I do set my heart, I have seen — I have received instruction,
32मी ते बघितले आणि त्याचा विचार करु लागलो. व नंतर त्या गोष्टींपासून मी धडा शिकलो.
33A little sleep — a little slumber — A little folding of the hands to lie down.
33“थोडीशी झोप, थोडी विश्रांती, हाताची घडी आणि वामकुक्षी.”
34And thy poverty hath come [as] a traveller, And thy want as an armed man!
34या गोष्टी तुम्हाला लवकरच गरीब करतील. तुमच्याकडे काहीही नसेल चोर घर फोडून घरात आला आणि सारे काही घेऊन गेल्यासारखे ते असेल.
