¹Whence [are] wars and fightings among you? not thence — out of your passions, that are as soldiers in your members?

¹သင်တို့တွင် စစ်တိုက်ခြင်း၊ ရန်တွေ့ခြင်းသည် အဘယ်အကြောင်းကြောင့်ဖြစ်သနည်း။ သင်တို့အင်္ဂါ များ၌ စစ်ပြိုင်သော ကိလေသာ ကာမစိတ်ကြောင့် ဖြစ်သည်မဟုတ်လော။

²ye desire, and ye have not; ye murder, and are zealous, and are not able to attain; ye fight and war, and ye have not, because of your not asking;

²သင်တို့သည် တပ်မက်၍မရကြ။ လူအသက်ကို သတ်၍၎င်း၊ အလွန်လိုချင်သောလောဘစိတ်ရှိ၍၎င်း၊ အလိုမပြည့်စုံနိုင်ကြ။ ရန်တွေ့ခြင်း၊ စစ်တိုက်ခြင်းကိုလည်း ပြု၍မရကြ။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ဆုမတောင်းဘဲ နေကြ၏။

³ye ask, and ye receive not, because evilly ye ask, that in your pleasures ye may spend [it].

³ဆုတောင်းလျှင်လည်း ကာမဂုဏ်ခံစားစရာတို့ရှိစေခြင်းငှါ၊ အလွဲတောင်းသောကြောင့်မရကြ။

⁴Adulterers and adulteresses! have ye not known that friendship of the world is enmity with God? whoever, then, may counsel to be a friend of the world, an enemy of God he is set.

⁴မတရားသောမေထုန်၌မှီဝဲသော ယောက်ျားမိန်းမတို့၊ လောကီမိဿဟာယသည် ဘုရားသခင်နှင့် ဆန့်ကျင်ဘက်ဖြစ်သည်ကို မသိကြသလော။ ဤလောကနှင့် မိဿဟာယဖွဲ့လိုသောသူသည် ဘုရားသခင်၏ ရန်သူဖြစ်၏။

⁵Do ye think that emptily the Writing saith, `To envy earnestly desireth the spirit that did dwell in us,`

⁵ကျမ်းစာချက် အချည်းနှီးသက်သက်ဖြစ်သည်ဟူ၍၎င်း၊ ငါတို့၌ တည်နေသော ဝိညာဉ်တော်သည် ငြူစူစေချင်သော သဘောရှိသည်ဟူ၍၎င်း၊ ထင်ကြသလော။

⁶and greater grace he doth give, wherefore he saith, `God against proud ones doth set Himself up, and to lowly ones He doth give grace?`

⁶ထိုဝိညာဉ်တော်သည် သာ၍များသော ကျေးဇူးကိုပြုတော်မူ၏။ ထိုသို့နှင့်အညီ ကျမ်းစာလာ သည်ကား၊ ထောင်လွှားစော်ကားသောသူတို့ကို ဘုရားသခင် ဆီးတားတော်မူ၏။ စိတ်နှိမ့်ချသော သူတို့အား ကျေးဇူးပြုတော်မူ၏ဟုလာသတည်း။

⁷be subject, then, to God; stand up against the devil, and he will flee from you;

⁷ထိုကြောင့်၊ ဘုရားသခင်၏အလိုတော်သို့ လိုက်ကြလော့။ မာရ်နတ်ကို ဆီးတားကြလော့။ သို့ပြုလျှင်၊ သူသည် သင်တို့ထံက ပြေးသွားလိမ့်မည်။

⁸draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you; cleanse hands, ye sinners! and purify hearts, ye two-souled!

⁸ဘုရားသခင်၌ချဉ်းကပ်ကြလော့။ သို့ပြုလျှင်၊ သင်တို့၌ချဉ်းကပ်တော်မူလိမ့်မည်။ အပြစ်ရှိသောသူတို့၊ သင်တို့လက်ကို စင်ကြယ်စေကြလော့။ စိတ်နှစ်ခွရှိသာသူတို့၊ သင်တို့စိတ်နှလုံးကို သန့်ရှင်းစေကြလော့။

⁹be exceeding afflicted, and mourn, and weep, let your laughter to mourning be turned, and the joy to heaviness;

⁹ဆင်းရဲငြိုငြင်ခြင်း၊ စိတ်မသာညည်းတွားခြင်း၊ ငိုကြွေးမြည်တမ်းခြင်းရှိကြလော့။ သင်တို့ရယ်ခြင်းကို စိတ်မသာညည်းတွားခြင်း၊ ဖြစ်စေကြလော့။ ဝမ်းမြောက်ခြင်းကိုလည်း ဝမ်းနည်းခြင်းဖြစ်စေကြလော့။

¹⁰be made low before the Lord, and He shall exalt you.

¹⁰ဘုရားသခင့်ရှေ့တော်၌ ကိုယ်ကိုကိုယ် နှိမ့်ချကြလော့။ သို့ပြုလျှင်၊ သင်တို့ကို ချီးမြှောက်တော် မူလိမ့်မည်။

¹¹Speak not one against another, brethren; he who is speaking against a brother, and is judging his brother, doth speak against law, and doth judge law, and if law thou dost judge, thou art not a doer of law but a judge;

¹¹ညီအစ်ကိုတို့၊ အချင်းချင်းတယောက်ကိုတယောက် ကဲ့ရဲ့ခြင်းကိုမပြုကြနှင့်။ ညီအစ်ကိုချင်းကို ကဲ့ရဲ့၍၊ သူ၌အပြစ်ရှိသည်ဟု စီရင်သောသူသည် တရားကို ကဲ့ရဲ့၏။ တရား၌အပြစ်ရှိသည်ဟုစီရင်၏။ ထိုသို့ပြုလျှင်၊ သင်သည်တရားကို ကျင့်သောသူမဟုတ်၊ တရားကို စစ်ကြောစီရင်သောသူဖြစ်၏။

¹²one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy; thou — who art thou that dost judge the other?

¹²ပညတ်တရားကို ထားပိုင်သောသူ၊ စစ်ကြောစီရင်ပိုင်သောသူ တပါးတည်းရှိတော်မူ၏။ ထိုသူသည် ကယ်တင်ခြင်းငှါ၎င်း၊ ဖျက်ဆီးခြင်းငှါ၎င်း၊ တတ်နိုင်တော်မူ၏။ သူတပါးကိုစစ်ကြောစီရင်သောသင်သည်ကား အဘယ်သူနည်း။

¹³Go, now, ye who are saying, `To-day and to-morrow we will go on to such a city, and will pass there one year, and traffic, and make gain;`

¹³ယနေ့ နက်ဖြန် ဤမည်သောမြို့သို့ သွားကြကုန်အံ့။ ထိုမြို့၌ တနှစ်ပတ်လုံးနေ၍ ကုန်သွယ်သဖြင့် အမြတ်ရအောင် ပြုကြကုန်အံ့ဟု ဆိုတတ်သောသူတို့၊ နားထောင်ကြလော့။

¹⁴who do not know the thing of the morrow; for what is your life? for it is a vapour that is appearing for a little, and then is vanishing;

¹⁴နက်ဖြန်နေ့၌အဘယ်သို့ ဖြစ်မည်ကိုသင်တို့မသိကြ။ သင်တို့ အသက်သည် အဘယ်သို့သောအရာ ဖြစ်သနည်း။ ခဏထင်ရှားပြီးမှ ကွယ်ပျောက်တတ်သော အခိုးအငွေ့ဖြစ်၏။

¹⁵instead of your saying, `If the Lord may will, we shall live, and do this or that;`

¹⁵ထဝရဘုရားသည် အလိုတော်ရှိ၍၊ ငါတို့သည်လည်းအသက်ရှင်လျှင်၊ ဤသို့ပြုကြကုန်အံ့၊ ထိုသို့ပြုကြ ကုန်အံ့ဟု သင်တို့ဆိုသင့်ရာဖြစ်၏။

¹⁶and now ye glory in your pride; all such glorying is evil;

¹⁶ယခုသင်တို့သည် မိမိထောင်လွှားခြင်း၌ ဝါကြွားကြသေး၏။ ထိုသို့သောဝါကြွားခြင်းရှိသမျှသည် မကောင်းမသင့်ဖြစ်၏။

¹⁷to him, then, knowing to do good, and not doing, sin it is to him.

¹⁷ထိုကြောင့်၊ ကောင်းသောအကျင့်ကို သိလျက် မကျင့်ဘဲနေသော သူသည်အပြစ်ရှိ၏။
