¹And there was a certain one ailing, Lazarus, from Bethany, of the village of Mary and Martha her sister —

²and it was Mary who did anoint the Lord with ointment, and did wipe his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was ailing —

²နာလျက်နေသော လာဇရု၏နှမမာရိကား၊ သခင်ဘုရားကို ဆီမွှေးနှင့်လိမ်း၍ ခြေတော်ကို မိမိဆံပင် နှင့်သုတ်သော မာရိဖြစ်သတည်း။

³therefore sent the sisters unto him, saying, `Sir, lo, he whom thou dost love is ailing;`

³ညီအစ်မတို့သည် အထံတော်သို့စေလွှတ်၍၊ သခင်၊ ကိုယ်တော်ချစ်တော်မူသောသူသည် နာလျက် နေပါသည်ဟုလျှောက်ကြ၏။

⁴and Jesus having heard, said, `This ailment is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.`

⁴ထိုစကားကို ယေရှုသည် ကြားတော်မူလျှင်၊ ထိုအနာသည် သေနာမဟုတ်။ ဘုရားသခင်၏ ဘုန်း တော်ကို ထင်ရှားစေသောအနာဖြစ်၏။ ထိုအနာကြောင့် ဘုရားသခင်၏သားတော်သည် ဘုန်းထင်ရှားခြင်း ရှိလိမ့်မည်ဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။

⁵And Jesus was loving Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus,

⁵ယေရှုသည် မာသကို၎င်း။ သူ၏ညီမနှင့် လာဇရုကို၎င်း ချစ်တော်မူ၏။

⁶when, therefore, he heard that he is ailing, then indeed he remained in the place in which he was two days,

⁶လာဇရု နာသည်ကိုကြားတော်မူလျှင်၊ ကြွတော်မမူဘဲ ထိုအရပ်၌နှစ်ရက်နေတော်မူ၏။

⁷then after this, he saith to the disciples, `We may go to Judea again;`

⁷ထိုနောက် တပည့်တော်တို့အား၊ ယုဒပြည်သို့ တဖန်သွားကြကုန်အံ့ဟု မိန့်တော်မူလျှင်၊

⁸the disciples say to him, `Rabbi, now were the Jews seeking to stone thee, and again thou dost go thither!`

⁸တပည့်တော်တို့က၊ အရှင်ဘုရား၊ ယုဒလူတို့သည်ယခုပင် ကိုယ်တော်ကိုခဲနှင့်ပစ်ခြင်းငှါ ရှာကြံလျက် ပင် ထိုအရပ်သို့တဖန် ကြွတော်မူဦးမည်လောဟု လျှောက်ကြ၏။

⁹Jesus answered, `Are there not twelve hours in the day? if any one may walk in the day, he doth not stumble, because the light of this world he doth see;

⁹ယေရှုကလည်း၊ တနေ့တွင်တဆယ့်နှစ်နာရီရှိသည်မဟုတ်လော။ လူသည်နေ့အချိန်၌သာ သွားလာ လျှင်၊ နေရောင်အလင်းကို မြင်ရသောကြောင့် ထိမိ၍ မလဲတတ်။

¹⁰and if any one may walk in the night, he stumbleth, because the light is not in him.`

¹⁰ညဉ့်အချိန်၌သွားလာလျှင်မူကား၊ အလင်းမရှိသောကြောင့် ထိမိ၍လဲတတ်၏ဟု မိန့်တော်မူပြီးမှ၊

¹¹These things he said, and after this he saith to them, `Lazarus our friend hath fallen asleep, but I go on that I may awake him;`

¹¹ငါတို့အဆွေ လာဇရုသည် အိပ်ပျော်၏။ သူ့ကို နိုးခြင်းအလိုငှါ ငါသွားမည်ဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။

¹²therefore said his disciples, `Sir, if he hath fallen asleep, he will be saved;`

¹²တပည့်တော်တို့ကလည်း၊ သခင်၊ သူသည် အိပ်ပျော်လျှင် သက်သာရလိမ့်မည်ဟု လျှောက်ကြ၏။

¹³but Jesus had spoken about his death, but they thought that about the repose of sleep he speaketh.

¹³ယေရှုသည် လာဇရုသေကြောင်းကိုမှတ်၍ မိန့်တော်မူသော်လည်း၊ ပကတိအိပ်ပျော်ကြောင်းကို မိန့် တော်မူသည်ဟု တပည့်တော်တို့သည် ထင်မှတ်ကြ၏။

¹⁴Then, therefore, Jesus said to them freely, `Lazarus hath died;

¹⁴ထိုကြောင့်ယေရှုက၊ လာဇရုသေပြီ။ သင်တို့သည် ယုံကြည်မည်အကြောင်း၊

¹⁵and I rejoice, for your sake, (that ye may believe,) that I was not there; but we may go to him;`

¹⁵ထိုအရပ်၌ ငါမရှိသည်ကိုထောက်၍ သင်တို့အတွက် ငါဝမ်းမြောက်ခြင်းရှိ၏။ သူ့ဆီသို့ ငါတို့သွားကြ ကုန်အံ့ဟု အတည့်အလင်းမိန့်တော်မူ၏။

¹⁶therefore said Thomas, who is called Didymus, to the fellow-disciples, `We may go — we also, that we may die with him,`

¹⁶ဒိဒုမုအမည်ရှိသော သောမက၊ အကျွန်ုပ်တို့လည်းလိုက်၍ သခင်နှင့်အတူ အသေခံကြကုန်အံ့ဟု တပည့်တော်ချင်းတို့အား ပြောဆို၏။

¹⁷Jesus, therefore, having come, found him having been four days already in the tomb.

¹⁷ယေရှုသည် ရောက်တော်မူသောအခါ၊ လာဇရုကို သင်္ဂြိုဟ်၍ သင်္ချိုင်းတွင်း၌ လေးရက်လွန်လေပြီ။

¹⁸And Bethany was nigh to Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off,

¹⁸ဗေသနိရွာသည် ယေရုရှလင်မြို့နှင့် တတိုင်လောက်သာကွာဝေးသည်ဖြစ်၍၊

¹⁹and many of the Jews had come unto Martha and Mary, that they might comfort them concerning their brother;

¹⁹မာသနှင့်မာရိတို့၏မောင်သေသောကြောင့်၊ သူတို့ကို နှစ်သိမ့်စေလိုသောငှါ ယုဒလူများတို့သည် လာ ကြ၏။

²⁰Martha, therefore, when she heard that Jesus doth come, met him, and Mary kept sitting in the house.

²⁰ယေရှုကြွလာတော်မူကြောင်းကို မာသသည်ကြားလျှင်၊ ကိုယ်တော်ကို ခရီးဦးကြိုပြုခြင်းငှါသွား၏။

²¹Martha, therefore, said unto Jesus, `Sir, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died;

²¹မာရိမူကားအိမ်၌ ထိုင်လျက်နေရစ်၏။ မာသက၊ သခင်၊ ကိုယ်တော်ရှိတော်မူလျှင် ကျွန်မ၏မောင် မသေပါ။

²²but even now, I have known that whatever thou mayest ask of God, God will give to thee;`

²²ယခု သေလျက်ရှိသော်လည်း ကိုယ်တော်သည် ဘုရားသခင်ကို ဆုတောင်းတော်မူသမျှအတိုင်း ဘုရား သခင်ပေးတော်မူမည်ကို ကျွန်မသိပါသည်ဟုလျှောက်၏။

²³Jesus saith to her, `Thy brother shall rise again.`

²³ယေရှုကလည်း၊ သင်၏မောင်သည် ထမြောက်လိမ့်မည်ဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။

²⁴Martha saith to him, `I have known that he will rise again, in the rising again in the last day;`

²⁴မာသကလည်း၊ နောက်ဆုံးသောနေ့တည်းဟူသော ထမြောက်ရာကာလ၌ သူသည် ထမြောက် လိမ့် မည်ကို ကျွန်မသိပါသည်ဟု လျှောက်၏။

²⁵Jesus said to her, `I am the rising again, and the life; he who is believing in me, even if he may die, shall live;

²⁵ယေရှုကလည်း၊ ငါသည် ထမြောက်ခြင်းအကြောင်း၊ အသက်ရှင်ခြင်းအကြောင်းဖြစ်၏။ ငါ့ကို ယုံကြည် သောသူသည် သေလွန်သော်လည်း ရှင်လိမ့်မည်။

²⁶and every one who is living and believing in me shall not die — to the age;

²⁶ငါ့ကိုယုံကြည်၍ အသက်ရှင်သောသူရှိသမျှတို့သည်လည်း သေခြင်းနှင့် အစဉ်မပြတ်ကင်းလွတ်လိမ့် မည်။ ငါ့စကားကိုယုံသလောဟု မေးတော်မူလျှင်၊ မာသက၊ ဟုတ်ပါ၏သခင်။

²⁷believest thou this?` she saith to him, `Yes, sir, I have believed that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming to the world.`

²⁷ကိုယ်တော်သည် ခရစ်တော်တည်းဟူသော ဤလောကသို့ကြွတော်မူသော ဘုရားသခင်၏သားတော် ဖြစ်သည်မူသည်ကို ကျွန်မယုံပါသည်ဟု လျှောက်၏။

²⁸And these things having said, she went away, and called Mary her sister privately, saying, `The Teacher is present, and doth call thee;`

²⁸ထိုသို့ ရှောက်ပြီးမှမာသသည်သွား၍ မိမိညီမ မာရိအား၊ အရှင်ဘုရားရောက်လာတော်မူပြီ။ သင့်ကို ခေါ်တော်မူသည်ဟု တိတ်ဆိတ်စွာခေါ်လေ၏။

²⁹she, when she heard, riseth up quickly, and doth come to him;

²⁹မာရိသည် ထိုစကားကိုကြားလျှင် အလျှင်တဆောထ၍ အထံတော်သို့ သွားလေ၏။

³⁰and Jesus had not yet come to the village, but was in the place where Martha met him;

³⁰ထိုအခါ ယေရှုသည် ရွာထဲသို့မဝင်သေး။ မာသခရီးဦးကြိုပြုသောအရပ်၌ ရှိတော်မူသတည်း။

³¹the Jews, therefore, who were with her in the house, and were comforting her, having seen Mary that she rose up quickly and went forth, followed her, saying — `She doth go away to the tomb, that she may weep there.`

³¹ထိုကြောင့် နှစ်သိမ့်သောစကားကိုပြောလျက် မာရိနှင့်အတူအိမ်၌ရှိသော ယုဒလူတို့သည် မာရိအလျင် တဆောထ၍ထွက်သွားသည်ကိုမြင်ကြလျှင်၊ ငိုကြွေးခြင်းငှါ သင်္ချိုင်းသို့သွားပြီဟုဆို၍ သူ့နောက်သို့လိုက်ကြ၏။

³²Mary, therefore, when she came where Jesus was, having seen him, fell at his feet, saying to him, `Sir, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died;`

³²မာရိသည် ယေရှုရှိတော်မူရာအရပ်သို့ရောက်၍ ကိုယ်တော်ကိုမြင်လျှင် ခြေတော်ရင်း၌ ပြပ်ဝပ်လျက်၊ သခင်၊ ကိုယ်တော်ရှိတော်မူလျှင် ကျွန်မ၏ မောင်မသေပါဟုလျှောက်၏။

³³Jesus, therefore, when he saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, did groan in the spirit, and troubled himself, and he said,

³³မာရိမှစ၍ လိုက်လာသောယုဒလူတို့သည် ငိုကြွေးသည်ကို ယေရှုသည်မြင်တော်မူသောအခါ၊ အလွန် ညှိုးငယ်ခြင်း၊ စိတ်ပူပန်ခြင်းရှိ၍၊

³⁴`Where have ye laid him?` they say to him, `Sir, come and see;`

³⁴အလောင်းကို အဘယ်မှာထားကြသနည်းဟုမေးတော်မူလျှင်၊ သခင်ကြွ၍ ကြည့်တော်မူပါဟု လျှောက် ကြ၏။

³⁵Jesus wept.

³⁵ယေရှုသည်မျက်ရည်ကျတော်မူ၏။

³⁶The Jews, therefore, said, `Lo, how he was loving him!`

³⁶ယုဒလူတို့က၊ ကြည့်ပါ၊ လာဇရုကို အလွန်ချစ်တော်မူပါသည်တကားဟု ဆိုကြ၏။

³⁷and certain of them said, `Was not this one, who did open the eyes of the blind man, able to cause that also this one might not have died?`

³⁷အချို့တို့က၊ မျက်စိကန်းသောသူကို မြင်စေတော်မူသော ဤသခင်သည်၊ လာဇရုကို မသေစေခြင်းငှါ မတတ်နိုင်လောဟုဆိုကြ၏။

³⁸Jesus, therefore, again groaning in himself, cometh to the tomb, and it was a cave, and a stone was lying upon it,

³⁸တဖန်ယေရှုသည် အလွန်ညှိုးငယ်သောစိတ်နှင့် သင်္ချိုင်းတွင်းသို့ရောက်တော်မူ၏။ ထိုတွင်းသည် မြေ တွင်းဖြစ်၏။ ကျောက်နှင့်ပိတ်ထား၏။

³⁹Jesus saith, `Take ye away the stone;` the sister of him who hath died — Martha — saith to him, `Sir, already he stinketh, for he is four days dead;`

³⁹ကျောက်ကိုရွှေ့ကြလော့ဟု ယေရှုသည်မိန့်တော်မူလျှင်၊ သေလွန်သောသူနှမ မာသက၊ သခင်၊ ယခု ဖြစ်လျှင်နံလိမ့်မည်။ လေးရက်ရှိပါပြီဟုလျှောက်၏။

⁴⁰Jesus saith to her, `Said I not to thee, that if thou mayest believe, thou shalt see the glory of God?`

⁴⁰ယေရှုကလည်း၊ သင်သည်ယုံလျှင် ဘုရားသခင်၏ဘုန်းအာနုဘော်တော်ကို မြင်ရလိမ့်မည်၊ ငါပြောပြီ မဟုတ်လောဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။

⁴¹They took away, therefore, the stone where the dead was laid, and Jesus lifted his eyes upwards, and said, `Father, I thank Thee, that Thou didst hear me;

⁴¹ထိုအခါ သေလွန်သောသူ၏သင်္ချိုင်းမှကျောက်ကိုရွှေ့ကြ၏။ ယေရှုသည်လည်း အထက်သို့ကြည့်မျှော် လျက်၊ အဘ၊ ကိုယ်တော်သည် အကျွန်ုပ်စကားကို နားထောင်တော်မူသောကြောင့် ကျေးဇူးတော်ကြီးလှပါ၏။

⁴²and I knew that Thou always dost hear me, but, because of the multitude that is standing by, I said [it], that they may believe that Thou didst send me.`

⁴²ကိုယ်တော်သည် အကျွန်ုပ်စကားကိုအစဉ်မပြတ်နားထောင်တော်မူသည်ကို အကျွန်ုပ်သိပါ၏။ သို့သော် လည်း ကိုယ်တော်သည် အကျွန်ုပ်ကို စေလွှတ်တော်မူသည်ကို ဝန်းရံလျက်ရှိသော ဤလူအပေါင်းတို့သည် ယုံကြည်စေခြင်းငှါ သူတို့၏အကျိုးကိုထောက်၍ ဤသို့ အကျွန်ုပ်လျှောက်ပါ၏ဟု မိန့်မြွတ်တော်မူပြီးမှ၊

⁴³And these things saying, with a loud voice he cried out, `Lazarus, come forth;`

⁴³လာဇရုထွက်၍လာလော့ဟု ကြီးစွာသောအသံနှင့် ဟစ်ခေါ်တော်မူ၏။

⁴⁴and he who died came forth, being bound feet and hands with grave-clothes, and his visage with a napkin was bound about; Jesus saith to them, `Loose him, and suffer to go.`

⁴⁴ထိုအခါ သေလွန်သောသူသည် မိမိခြေလက်၌ပုဆိုးနံငယ်နှင့်ရစ်ပတ်လျက်၊ မျက်နှာကိုလည်း ပုဝါနှင့် စည်းလျက်ထွက်လာ၏။ ယေရှုကလည်း၊ သူ့ကိုဖြည်၍ လွှတ်ကြေလော့ဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။

⁴⁵Many, therefore, of the Jews who came unto Mary, and beheld what Jesus did, believed in him;

⁴⁵ထိုအခါ မာရိဆီသို့လာသော ယုဒလူအများတို့သည် ယေရှုပြုတော်မူသောအမှုကိုမြင်လျှင်၊ ကိုယ်တော် ကို ယုံကြည်ကြ၏။

⁴⁶but certain of them went away unto the Pharisees, and told them what Jesus did;

⁴⁶အချို့မူကား၊ ဖာရိရှဲတို့ထံသို့သွား၍ ယေရှုပြုတော်မူသောအမှုကို ကြားပြောကြ၏။

⁴⁷the chief priests, therefore, and the Pharisees, gathered together a sanhedrim, and said, `What may we do? because this man doth many signs?

⁴⁷ထိုအခါ ယဇ်ပုရောဟိတ်အကြီးတို့နှင့် ဖာရိရှဲများသည်လွှတ်အရာရှိတို့ကို စည်းဝေးစေပြီးလျှင်၊ ငါတို့ သည် အဘယ်သို့ပြုလျက်နေကြသနည်း။ ထိုသူသည်များစွာသော နိမိတ်လက္ခဏာကိုပြ၏။

⁴⁸if we may let him alone thus, all will believe in him; and the Romans will come, and will take away both our place and nation.`

⁴⁸သူ့ကိုဤသို့စေလွတ်ထားလျှင် လူခပ်သိမ်းတို့သည် ယုံကြည်ကြလိမ့်မည်။ ရောမလူတို့သည်လည်း လာ၍ ငါတို့အရပ်ဌာနကို၎င်း၊ ငါတို့အမျိုးကို၎င်း သုတ်သင်ပယ်ရှင်းကြလိမ့်မည်ဟု ပြောဆိုကြ၏။

⁴⁹and a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being chief priest of that year, said to them, `Ye have not known anything,

⁴⁹ထိုသူတို့အဝင်။ ထိုနှစ်တွင် ယဇ်ပုရာဟိတ်မင်းဖြစ်သော ကယာဖအမည်ရှိသောသူက၊ သင်တို့အလျှင်း မသိကြ။

⁵⁰nor reason that it is good for us that one man may die for the people, and not the whole nation perish.`

⁵⁰ယုဒလူမျိုးအကုန်အစင်ပျက်စီးသည်ထက်၊ လူတယောက်သည် လူများတို့အတွက် သေသော်သာ၍ ကောင်းသည်ကို သင်တို့သည် မဆင်ခြင်ပါတကားဟုပြောဆို၏။

⁵¹And this he said not of himself, but being chief priest of that year, he did prophesy that Jesus was about to die for the nation,

⁵¹ထိုစကားကို ကိုယ်အလိုအလျောက် ပြောဆိုသည်မဟုတ်။ ထိုနှစ်တွင် ယဇ်ပုရောဟိတ်မင်းဖြစ်လျက်၊ ယေရှုသည် ထိုအမျိုးအတွက် သေရမည်ဟူ၍၎င်း၊

⁵²and not for the nation only, but that also the children of God, who have been scattered abroad, he may gather together into one.

⁵²ထိုအမျိုးအတွက်သာမက အရပ်ရပ်တို့၌ ကွဲပြားလျက်ရှိသော ဘုရားသခင်၏သားများကို အတူစုဝေး စေခြင်းငှါ သေရမည်ဟူ၍၎င်း၊ ပရောဖက်ဥာဏ်နှင့်ဟောပြော၏။

⁵³From that day, therefore, they took counsel together that they may kill him;

⁵³ထိုနေ့မှစ၍ ကိုယ်တော်၏အသက်ကိုသတ်ခြင်းငှါ တိုင်ပင်ကြံစည်ကြ၏။

⁵⁴Jesus, therefore, was no more freely walking among the Jews, but went away thence to the region nigh the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim, and there he tarried with his disciples.

⁵⁴ထိုကြောင့်၊ ယေရှုသည် နောက်တဖန်ယုဒလူတို့တွင် ထင်ရှားစွာ မလှည့်လည်ဘဲ၊ ထိုအရပ်မှထွက်၍ တောနှင့်အနီး ဧဖရိမ်အမည်ရှိသောမြို့သို့ကြွ၍ တပည့်တော်တို့နှင့်အတူ နေတော်မူ၏။

⁵⁵And the passover of the Jews was nigh, and many went up to Jerusalem out of the country before the passover, that they might purify themselves;

⁵⁵ယုဒပသခါပွဲခံခါနီးတွင် လူများတို့သည်မိမိတို့ကိုသန့်ရှင်းစေခြင်းငှါ ပွဲမခံမှီအရပ်ရပ်တို့မှ ယေရုရှလင် မြို့သို့ လာကြ၏။

⁵⁶they were seeking, therefore, Jesus, and said one with another, standing in the temple, `What doth appear to you — that he may not come to the feast?`

⁵⁶ထိုသူတို့သည် ယေရှုကိုရှာဖွေ၍၊ အချင်းတို့ အဘယ်သို့ထင်ကြသနည်း။ သူသည်ပွဲသို့မလာသလောဟု ဗိမာန်တော်၌ရပ်လျက် အချင်းချင်းမေးမြန်းကြ၏။

⁵⁷and both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a command, that if any one may know where he is, he may shew [it], so that they may seize him.

⁵⁷ထိုအခါအဘယ်သူသည် ယေရှုရှိရာအရပ်သို့ သူ့ကိုဘမ်းဆီးစေခြင်းငှါ ပြညွှန်ရမည်ဟု ယဇ်ပုရာဟိတ် အကြီးတို့နှင့် ဖာရိရှဲတို့သည်မှာခဲ့ကြပြီ။
