¹Then, therefore, did Pilate take Jesus and scourge [him],

¹ထိုအခါ ပိလတ်မင်းသည် ယေရှုကိုယူ၍ရိုက်ပြီးမှ၊

²and the soldiers having plaited a crown of thorns, did place [it] on his head, and a purple garment they put around him,

²စစ်သူရဲတို့သည် ဆူးပင်နှင့်ရက်သော ဦးရစ်ကိုခေါင်းတော်၌တင်၍၊ နီမောင်းသောဝတ်လုံနှင့် ခြုံစေ ပြီးလျှင်၊

³and said, `Hail! the king of the Jews;` and they were giving him slaps.

³ယုဒရှင်ဘုရင်၊ ကိုယ်တော်သည် မင်္ဂလာရှိစေသတည်းဟုဆို၍ ရိုက်ပုတ်ကြ၏။

⁴Pilate, therefore, again went forth without, and saith to them, `Lo, I do bring him to you without, that ye may know that in him I find no fault;`

⁴ပိလတ်မင်းကလည်း၊ ဤသူ၌ အဘယ်အပြစ်ကိုမျှ ငါမတွေ့ကြောင်းကို သင်တို့သိစေခြင်းငှါ၊ သူ့ကို သင်တို့ရှိရာသို့ ငါထုတ်ပြသည်ဟုဆို၏။

⁵Jesus, therefore, came forth without, bearing the thorny crown and the purple garment; and he saith to them, `Lo, the man!`

⁵ထိုအခါ ယေရှုသည် ဆူးပင်ဦးရစ်နှင့် နီးမောင်းသောဝတ်လုံတို့ကိုဝတ်လျက် အပြင်သို့ထွက်ကြွတော် မူ၏။ ပိလတ်မင်းကလည်း သူ့ကိုကြည့်ကြလော့ဟိုဆို၏။

⁶When, therefore, the chief priests and the officers did see him, they cried out, saying, `Crucify, crucify;` Pilate saith to them, `Take ye him — ye, and crucify; for I find no fault in him;`

⁶ယဇ်ပုရောဟိတ်အကြီးတို့နှင့် လုလင်များတို့က၊ ထိုသူကိုလက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်မှာ ရိုက်ထားပါ၊ ရိုက်ထားပါ ဟု ဟစ်ကြော်ကြ၏။ ပိလတ်မင်းကလည်း၊ သင်တို့သည် သူ့ကိုယူ၍ လက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်မှာရိုက်ထားကြ။ ငါသည် သူ၌အပြစ်ကို မတွေ့ဟုဆိုလျှင်၊

⁷the Jews answered him, `We have a law, and according to our law he ought to die, for he made himself Son of God.`

⁷ယုဒလူတို့က၊ ဤသူသည်ဘုရားသခင်၏သားတော်ဖြစ်ယောင်ဆောင်သောကြောင့် အကျွန်ုပ်တို့၌ ရှိသော ဓမ္မသတ်အတိုင်း သေထိုက်ပါသည်ဟုလျှောက်ကြ၏။

⁸When, therefore, Pilate heard this word, he was the more afraid,

⁸ထိုစကားကိုကြားလျှင် ပိလတ်မင်းသည်သာ၍ ကြောက်သဖြင့်၊ အိမ်တော်ဦးထဲသို့ ဝင်ပြန်၍၊

⁹and entered again to the praetorium, and saith to Jesus, `Whence art thou?` and Jesus gave him no answer.

⁹ယေရှုအား၊ သင်သည် အဘယ်ကဖြစ်သနည်းဟုမေးလျှင်၊ တခွန်းကိုမျှပြန်တော်မမူ၊

¹⁰Pilate, therefore, saith to him, `To me dost thou not speak? hast thou not known that I have authority to crucify thee, and I have authority to release thee?`

¹⁰ပိလတ်မင်းကလည်း၊ ငါနှင့်စကားမပြောသလော။ ငါသည် သင့်ကိုလက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်မှာ ရိုက်ထားပိုင် သည်ကို၎င်း၊ လွှတ်ပိုင်သည်ကို၎င်း၊ သင်မသိလောဟုဆိုသော်၊

¹¹Jesus answered, `Thou wouldst have no authority against me, if it were not having been given thee from above; because of this, he who is delivering me up to thee hath greater sin.`

¹¹အထက်အရပ်မှအခွင့်ကို မရလျှင်မင်းကြီးသည် ငါ့ကိုအဘယ်သို့မျှမပြုပိုင်။ ထိုကြောင့်ငါ့ကို မင်းကြီး လက်သို့ အပ်နှံသောသူသည်သာ၍ ကြီးသောအပြစ်ရှိသည်ဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။

¹²From this [time] was Pilate seeking to release him, and the Jews were crying out, saying, `If this one thou mayest release, thou art not a friend of Caesar; every one making himself a king, doth speak against Caesar.`

¹²ထိုအခါမှစ၍ ပိလတ်မင်းသည် ကိုယ်တော်ကိုလွှတ်ခြင်းငှါ ရှာကြံလေ၏။ ယုဒလူတို့ကလည်း၊ ထိုသူကို လွှတ်လျှင် ကိုယ်တော်သည် ကဲသာဘုရင်၏အဆွေမဟုတ်ပါ။ ရှင်ဘုရင်လုပ်သောသူမည်သည်ကား၊ ကဲသာ ဘုရင်၏ရန်သူဖြစ်ပါသည်ဟု လျှောက်ကြ၏။

¹³Pilate, therefore, having heard this word, brought Jesus without — and he sat down upon the tribunal — to a place called, `Pavement,` and in Hebrew, Gabbatha;

¹³ထိုစကားကိုကြားလျှင် ပိလတ်မင်းသည် ယေရှုကိုပြင်သို့ထုတ်ပြီးမှ၊ ဟေဗြဲစကားအားဖြင့် ဂဗ္ဗသ အမည်ရှိ၍ ကျောက်ခင်းဟုခေါ်ဝေါ်သောအရပ်၌ တရားပလ္လင်ပေါ်မှာထိုင်လေ၏။

¹⁴and it was the preparation of the passover, and as it were the sixth hour, and he saith to the Jews, `Lo, your king!`

¹⁴ထိုနေ့အချိန်ကား၊ ပသခါအဘိတ်နေ့ တစ်ချက်တီးအချိန်လောက်ရှိ၏။ ပိလတ်မင်းကလည်၊ သင်တို့၏ ရှင်ဘုရင်ကို ကြည့်ကြလော့ဟု ယုဒလူတို့အား ပြောဆိုလျှင်၊

¹⁵and they cried out, `Take away, take away, crucify him;` Pilate saith to them, `Your king shall I crucify?` the chief priests answered, `We have no king except Caesar.`

¹⁵ထိုသူကိုထုတ်ပါ။ ထုတ်ပါ။ လက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်မှာ ရိုက်ထားပါဟု လူအများဟစ်ကြော်ကြ၏။ ပိလတ်မင်းကလည်း၊ သင်တို့၏ရှင်ဘုရင်ကို လက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်မှာရိုက်ထားရမည်လောဟု မေးပြန်လျှင်၊ ယဇ်ပုရာဟိတ်အကြီးတို့က၊ အကျွန်ုပ်တို့၌ ကဲသာဘုရင်မှတပါး အဘယ်ရှင်ဘုရင်မျှမရှိဟု ပြန်ပြောကြ၏။

¹⁶Then, therefore, he delivered him up to them, that he may be crucified, and they took Jesus and led [him] away,

¹⁶ထိုအခါ ပိလတ်မင်းသည် ယေရှုကိုလက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်မှာ ရိုက်ထားစေခြင်းငှါ ထိုသူတို့လက်သို့ အပ် သဖြင့်၊ သူတို့သည် ကိုယ်တော်ကိုယူ၍ထုတ်သွားကြ၏။

¹⁷and bearing his cross, he went forth to the place called [Place] of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew Golgotha;

¹⁷ကိုယ်တော်သည် မိမိလက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်ကိုထမ်းလျှက် ဦးခေါင်းခွံအရပ်ဟူ၍ တွင်သောအရပ်သို့ ထွက် တော်မူ၏။ ထိုအရပ်ကား၊ ဟေဗြဲစကားအားဖြင့် ဂေါလဂေါသအမည်ရှိ၏။

¹⁸where they crucified him, and with him two others, on this side, and on that side, and Jesus in the midst.

¹⁸ထိုအရပ်၌ ကိုယ်တော်ကို အခြားသောသူနှစ်ယောက်နှင့်တကွ လက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်မှာ ရိုက်ထားကြ၏။ ထိုသူနှစ်ယောက်အလယ်မှာ ယေရှုသည် နေရာကျသတည်း။

¹⁹And Pilate also wrote a title, and put [it] on the cross, and it was written, `Jesus the Nazarene, the king of the Jews;`

¹⁹ပိလတ်မင်းသည်လည်း ကမ္ဗည်းလိပ်စာကိုရေး၍ လက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်တော်၌ တပ်လေ၏။ လိပ်စာချက်ဟူ မူကား၊ ယုဒရှင်ဘုရင်၊ နာဇရက်မြို့သားယေရှုဟု ရေးထားသတည်း။

²⁰this title, therefore, read many of the Jews, because the place was nigh to the city where Jesus was crucified, and it was having been written in Hebrew, in Greek, in Roman.

²⁰ယေရှုကိုလက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်မှာ ရိုက်ထားသောအရပ်သည် မြို့နှင့်နီးသည်ဖြစ်၍၊ ထိုလိပ်စာကို ဟေဗြဲ ဘာသာ၊ ဟေလသဘာသာ၊ ရောမဘာသာအားဖြင့် ရေးထားသောကြောင့် ယုဒလူများတို့သည် ဘတ်ကြ၏။

²¹The chief priests of the Jews said, therefore, to Pilate, `Write not — The king of the Jews, but that one said, I am king of the Jews;`

²¹ထိုကြောင့်ယုဒယဇ်ပုရောဟိတ်အကြီးတို့သည် ပိလတ်မင်းထံသို့ဝင်၍၊ ယုဒရှင်ဘုရင်ဟု မရေးပါနှင့်။ ငါသည်ယုဒရှင်ဘုရင်ဖြစ်သည်ဟု သူဆိုကြောင်းကို ရေးတော်မူပါဟုလျှောက်ကြလျှင်၊

²²Pilate answered, `What I have written, I have written.`

²²ပိလတ်မင်းက၊ ငါရေးပြီးသောအရာကို ငါရေးပြီဟု ပြန်ဆို၏။

²³The soldiers, therefore, when they did crucify Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to each soldier a part, also the coat, and the coat was seamless, from the top woven throughout,

²³စစ်သူရဲတို့သည် ယေရှုကိုလက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်၌ ရိုက်ထားပြီးမှ၊ အဝတ်တော်တို့ကို လေးပိုင်းပိုင်း၍ တယောက်တပိုင်းစီ ယူကြလေ၏။ အတွင်းအင်္ကျီတော်ကား၊ မချုပ်ဘဲလျက် အထက်စွန်းမှသည် အောက်စွန်း တိုင်အောင် ရက်သောအင်္ကျီဖြစ်သောကြောင့်၊

²⁴they said, therefore, to one another, `We may not rend it, but cast a lot for it, whose it shall be;` that the Writing might be fulfilled, that is saying, `They divided my garments to themselves, and upon my raiment they did cast a lot;` the soldiers, therefore, indeed, did these things.

²⁴ထိုသူတို့က၊ အင်္ကျီကိုမဆုတ်ကြနှင့်။ အဘယ်သူယူရမည်ကို စာရေးတံချကြကုန်အံ့ဟု အချင်းချင်း ဆိုကြ၏။ ကျမ်းစာလာသည်ကား၊ သူတို့သည် အကျွန်ုပ်အဝတ်ကို အချင်းချင်းဝေဖန်၍ အကျွန်ုပ်အင်္ကျီကို စာရေးတံချကြပါ၏ဟူသော အချက်စကားကိုပြည့်စုံစေ၍၊ စစ်သူရဲတို့သည် ထိုသို့ပြုကြ၏။

²⁵And there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother`s sister, Mary of Cleopas, and Mary the Magdalene;

²⁵ယေရှု၏ လက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်တော်နားမှာ မယ်တော်နှင့်မယ်တော်၏ညီမဖြစ်သော ကလောဖ၏မယား မာရိနှင့် မာဂဒလမာရိတို့သည် ရပ်နေကြ၏။

²⁶Jesus, therefore, having seen [his] mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he was loving, he saith to his mother, `Woman, lo, thy son;`

²⁶ထိုအခါ မယ်တော်နှင့်ချစ်တော်မူသောတပည့်တော်သည် အနားမှာရပ်နေသည်ကို ယေရှုသည် မြင် တော်မူလျှင်၊ မယ်တော်အား၊ အချင်းမိန်းမ၊ သင်၏သားကို ကြည့်ပါဟူ၍၎င်း၊

²⁷afterward he saith to the disciple, `Lo, thy mother;` and from that hour the disciple took her to his own [home].

²⁷တပည့်တော်အားလည်း၊ သင်၏အမိကိုကြည့်ပါဟူ၍၎င်း မိန့်တော်မူ၏။ ထိုအခါမှစ၍ ထိုတပည့်တော် သည် မယ်တော်ကိုမိမိအိမ်၌ သိမ်းထား၏။

²⁸After this, Jesus knowing that all things now have been finished, that the Writing may be fulfilled, saith, `I thirst;`

²⁸ထိုနောက်မှ ကျမ်းစာပြည့်စုံစေခြင်းငှါ အမှုရှိသမျှကုန်စင်ပြီးသည်ကို သိတော်မူလျှင်၊ ရေငတ်သည်ဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။

²⁹a vessel, therefore, was placed full of vinegar, and they having filled a sponge with vinegar, and having put [it] around a hyssop stalk, did put [it] to his mouth;

²⁹ထိုအရပ်၌ပုံးရည်နှင့်ပြည့်သော အိုးတလုံးရှိသည်ဖြစ်၍၊ ထိုသူတို့သည် ရေမှိုတထွေးကိုပုံရည်နှင့် ပြည့် စေပြီးလျှင်၊ ဟုဿုပ်ပင် အကိုင်းဖျား၌တပ်၍ ခံတွင်းတော်သို့ကပ်ထားကြ၏။

³⁰when, therefore, Jesus received the vinegar, he said, `It hath been finished;` and having bowed the head, gave up the spirit.

³⁰ယေရှုသည် ပုံရည်ကိုခံပြီးမှ၊ အမှုပြီးပြီဟု မိန့်တော်မူလျက်၊ ခေါင်းတော်ကို ငိုက်ဆိုက်ညွှတ်၍ အသက် တော်ကို စွန့်တော်မူ၏။

³¹The Jews, therefore, that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, since it was the preparation, (for that sabbath day was a great one,) asked of Pilate that their legs may be broken, and they taken away.

³¹ထိုနေ့သည် အဘိတ်နေ့ဖြစ်၍၊ နက်ဖြန်နေ့လည်း ကြီးမြတ်သောဥပုသ်နေ့ဖြစ်သည်ကို ယုဒလူတို့သည် ထောက်၍၊ အလောင်းကောင်တို့ကို ဥပုသ်နေ့၌ လက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်ပေါ်မှာ မရှိစေခြင်းငှါ ပိလတ်မင်းထံသို့ဝင် ပြီးလျှင်၊ ခြေကိုချိုး၍ ထိုအလောင်းကောင်တို့ကို ယူသွားရမည်အကြောင်း အခွင့်တောင်းကြ၏။

³²The soldiers, therefore, came, and of the first indeed they did break the legs, and of the other who was crucified with him,

³²ထိုအခါစစ်သူရဲတို့သည် သွား၍ကိုယ်တော်နှင့်အတူ လက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်မှာ ရိုက်ထားသောသူနှစ် ယောက်တို့၏ ခြေကိုချိုးလေ၏။

³³and having come to Jesus, when they saw him already having been dead, they did not break his legs;

³³ယေရှုထံသို့ရောက်၍ အသက်မရှိကြောင်းကို မြင်လျှင်ခြေကို မချိုးဘဲ၊

³⁴but one of the soldiers with a spear did pierce his side, and immediately there came forth blood and water;

³⁴စစ်သူရဲတယောက်သည် နံဖေးတော်ကို လှံနှင့်ထိုးဖောက်၍ သွေးနှင့်ရေသည်ချက်ခြင်းထွက်လာ၏။

³⁵and he who hath seen hath testified, and his testimony is true, and that one hath known that true things he speaketh, that ye also may believe.

³⁵ထိုအကြောင်းအရာကိုမြင်သောသူသည် သက်သေခံ၏။ သူ၏သက်သေခံချက်သည်လည်း မှန်ပေ၏။ သင်တို့သည်ယုံကြည်မည်အကြောင်း၊ သူပြောသောစကားမှန်သည်ကို သူသိ၏။

³⁶For these things came to pass, that the Writing may be fulfilled, `A bone of him shall not be broken;`

³⁶ထိုအကြောင်းအရာကား၊ သူ၏အရိုးကို မချိုးရဟု ကျမ်းစာလာချက်ပြည့်စုံမည်အကြောင်းတည်း။

³⁷and again another Writing saith, `They shall look to him whom they did pierce.`

³⁷တဖန်ကျမ်းစာလာသည်ကား၊ ထိုသူတို့သည် မိမိတို့ ထိုးဖောက်သောသူကို ရှုမြင်ရကြလိမ့်မည်ဟု လာ၏။

³⁸And after these things did Joseph of Arimathea — being a disciple of Jesus, but concealed, through the fear of the Jews — ask of Pilate, that he may take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave leave; he came, therefore, and took away the body of Jesus,

³⁸ထိုနောက်မှ အရိမသဲမြို့သားယောသပ်သည် ယုဒလူတို့ကိုကြောက်၍ မထင်မရှားတပည့်တော်ဖြစ် သည်နှင့်၊ ပိလတ်မင်းထံသို့ဝင်၍ ယေရှု၏အလောင်းတော်ကို ယူသွားမည်အကြောင်းအခွင့်တောင်း၏။ ပိလတ်မင်းအခွင့်ပေးလျှင်၊ ထိုသူသည်သွား၍ ယေရှု၏အလောင်းတော်ကို ယူလေ၏။

³⁹and Nicodemus also came — who came unto Jesus by night at the first — bearing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, as it were, a hundred pounds.

³⁹အထက်ကညဉ့်အခါ ယေရှုထံသို့လာသော နိကောဒင်သည်လည်း၊ အခွက်သုံးဆယ်မျှလောက်အချိန် ရှိသောမုရန်နှင့် အကျော်ကို ရောနှောသော နံ့သာပျောင်းကို ဆောင်လျက်လာ၏။

⁴⁰They took, therefore, the body of Jesus, and bound it with linen clothes with the spices, according as it was the custom of the Jews to prepare for burial;

⁴⁰ထိုသူတို့သည် ယေရှု၏အလောင်းတော်ကိုယူ၍၊ ယုဒလူတို့၏ သင်္ဂြိုဟ်ခြင်းနှင့်ဆိုင်သောပြင်ဆင်ခြင်း ထုံးစံရှိသည်အတိုင်း နံ့သာမျိုးနှင့်တကွ ပိတ်ပုဆိုးဖြင့် အလောင်းတော်ကို ပတ်ရစ်ကြ၏။

⁴¹and there was in the place where he was crucified a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one was yet laid;

⁴¹လက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်မှာ ရိုက်ထားသောအရပ်တွင်ဥယျာဉ်ရှိ၏။ ထိုဥယျာဉ်တွင် တယောက်ကိုမျှ မသင်္ဂြိုဟ် ဘူးသော သင်္ချိုင်းတွင်းသစ်ရှိ၏။

⁴²there, therefore, because of the preparation of the Jews, because the tomb was nigh, they laid Jesus.

⁴²ယုဒလူတို့၏ အဘိတ်နေ့ဖြစ်သောကြောင့်၊ အနီးအပါးတွင်ရှိသော ထိုသင်္ချိုင်းအတွင်း၌ အလောင်း တော်ကိုထားကြ၏။
