¹At that time did Herod the tetrarch hear the fame of Jesus,

¹ထိုအခါ စော်ဘွားဟေရုဒ်သည် ယေရှု၏သိတင်းတော်ကိုကြားလျှင်၊

²and said to his servants, `This is John the Baptist, he did rise from the dead, and because of this the mighty energies are working in him.`

²ဤသူကား ဗတ္တိဇံဆရာယောဟန်ဖြစ်သည်။ သေခြင်းမှထမြောက်လေပြီ။ ထို့ကြောင့် တန်ခိုးများကို ပြ နိုင်သည်ဟု မိမိငယ်သားတို့အားဆို၏။

³For Herod having laid hold on John, did bind him, and did put him in prison, because of Herodias his brother Philip`s wife,

³အထက်က ဟေရုဒ်သည်မိမိညီဖိလိပ္ပု၏ခင်ပွန်း ဟေရောဒိအကြောင်းကြောင့်၊ ယောဟန်ကိုဘမ်းဆီး ချည်နှောင်၍ ထောင်ထဲမှာလှောင်ထား၏။

⁴for John was saying to him, `It is not lawful to thee to have her,`

⁴အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ယောဟန်က၊ အရှင်မင်းကြီးသည် ထိုမိန်းမကိုမသိမ်းအပ်ဟု ဟေရုဒ်အားဆိုလေပြီ။

⁵and, willing to kill him, he feared the multitude, because as a prophet they were holding him.

⁵ယောဟန်ကိုသတ်ခြင်းငှာ အလိုရှိသော်လည်း၊ လူအပေါင်းတို့၏မျက်နှာကိုထောက်၍ မသတ်ဝံ့ဘဲနေ ၏။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ထိုသူတို့သည် ယောဟန်ကို ပရောဖတ်ကဲ့သို့ထင်မှတ်ကြသတည်း။

⁶But the birthday of Herod being kept, the daughter of Herodias danced in the midst, and did please Herod,

⁶ထိုနောက်မှ ဟေရုဒ်ကိုဘွားသောနေ့ရက်၌ နှစ်စဉ်ပွဲခံစဉ်တွင်၊ ဟေရောဒိ၏သမီးသည် ပွဲသဘင်၌ က သဖြင့် ဟေရုဒ်သည် နူးညွတ်သောစိတ်ရှိလျှင်၊

⁷whereupon with an oath he professed to give her whatever she might ask.

⁷ငါသည် သင်တောင်းသမျှကို ပေးမည်ဟု ကျိန်ဆိုလေ၏။

⁸And she having been instigated by her mother — `Give me (says she) here upon a plate the head of John the Baptist;

⁸ထိုမိန်းမငယ်သည် သူ၏အမိတိုက်တွန်းသည်အတိုင်း၊ ဗတ္တိဇံဆရာယောဟန်၏ ဦးခေါင်းကို ဤ လင်ပန်း၌ ပေးတော်မူပါဟု တောင်းလျှောက်၏။

⁹and the king was grieved, but because of the oaths and of those reclining with him, he commanded [it] to be given;

⁹မင်းကြီးသည် ဝမ်းနည်းသော်လည်းကျိန်ဆိုခြင်းကို၎င်း၊ အပေါင်းအဘော်တို့၏မျက်နှာကို၎င်း ထောက် သောကြောင့် ပေးစေဟုအမိန့်တော်ရှိလျက်၊

¹⁰and having sent, he beheaded John in the prison,

¹⁰လူကို စေလွှတ်၍ ယောဟန်၏လည်ပင်းကို ထောင်ထဲမှာဖြတ်စေ၏။

¹¹and his head was brought upon a plate, and was given to the damsel, and she brought [it] nigh to her mother.

¹¹ဦးခေါင်းကို လင်ပန်း၌ဆောင်ခဲ့၍ ထိုမိန်းမငယ်အားပေးပြီးမှ၊ သူသည်လည်း မိမိအမိထံသို့ယူသွား၏။

¹²And his disciples having come, took up the body, and buried it, and having come, they told Jesus,

¹²ယောဟန်၏တပည့်တို့သည်လည်းလာ၍ အလောင်းကိုဆောင်သွားသဖြင့် သင်္ဂြိုဟ်ပြီးမှ၊ ယေရှုထံတော် သို့သွား၍ ကြားလျှောက်ကြ၏။

¹³and Jesus having heard, withdrew thence in a boat to a desolate place by himself, and the multitudes having heard did follow him on land from the cities.

¹³ယေရှုသည် ကြားတော်မူလျှင်၊ ထိုအရပ်မှထွက်၍လှေကိုစီးလျက် တော၌ဆိတ်ကွယ်ရာအရပ်သို့ ကြွ တော်မူ၏။ လူအစုအဝေးတို့သည် ကြားသိရလျှင်၊ မြို့ရွာမှထွက်၍ ကုန်းကြောင်းလိုက်ကြ၏။

¹⁴And Jesus having come forth, saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion upon them, and did heal their infirm;

¹⁴ယေရှုသည် ထွက်ကြွ၍ လူများအပေါင်းတို့ကို တွေ့မြင်တော်မူလျှင်၊ သနားခြင်းစိတ်တော်ရှိ၍ လူနာရှိ သမျှတို့ကို ချမ်းသာပေးတော်မူ၏။

¹⁵and evening having come, his disciples came to him, saying, `The place is desolate, and the hour hath now past, let away the multitudes that, having gone to the villages, they may buy to themselves food.`

¹⁵ညဦးယံ၌ တပည့်တော်တို့သည်ချဉ်းကပ်၍၊ ဤအရပ်သည် တောအရပ်ဖြစ်ပါ၏။ မိုးလည်းချုပ်ပါပြီ။ လူအစုအဝေးတို့သည် မြို့ရွာသို့သွား၍ စားစရာကိုဝယ်စေခြင်းငှာ အခွင့်ပေးတော်မူပါဟု လျှောက်ကြလျှင်၊

¹⁶And Jesus said to them, `They have no need to go away — give ye them to eat.`

¹⁶ယေရှုက၊ သွားရသောအကြောင်းမရှိ။ သူတို့စားစရာဘို့ သင်တို့ပေးကြလော့ဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။

¹⁷And they say to him, `We have not here except five loaves, and two fishes.`

¹⁷တပည့်တော်တို့ကလည်း၊ မုန့်ငါးလုံးနှင့် ငါးနှစ်ကောင်မှတပါး အဘယ်စားစရာမျှ အကျွန်ုပ်တို့၌မရှိပါ ဟု လျှောက်ပြန်လျှင်၊ ထိုမုန့်နှင့်ငါးကို ယူခဲ့ကြဟုမိန့်တော်မူ၏။

¹⁸And he said, `Bring ye them to me hither.`

¹⁸ထိုအခါ လူအစုအဝေးတို့ကို မြက်ပင်ပေါ်မှာ လျောင်းကြစေဟုအမိန့်တော်ရှိ၏။

¹⁹And having commanded the multitudes to recline upon the grass, and having taken the five loaves and the two fishes, having looked up to the heaven, he did bless, and having broken, he gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes,

¹⁹မုန့်ငါးလုံးနှင့် ငါးနှစ်ကောင်ကိုလည်းယူ၍ ကောင်းကင်သို့ကြည့်မြော်လျက်၊ ကျေးဇူးတော်ကို ချီးမွမ်းပြီး မှ မုန့်နှင့်ငါးကိုဖဲ့၍ တပည့်တော်တို့အား ပေးတော်မူ၏။

²⁰and they did all eat, and were filled, and they took up what was over of the broken pieces twelve hand-baskets full;

²⁰တပည့်တော်တို့သည်လည်းလူအပေါင်းတို့အား ပေးကြ၏။ လူအပေါင်းတို့သည်စား၍ ဝကြပြီးမှ ကြွင်း ရစ်သောအကျိုးအပဲ့ကို ကောက်သိမ်း၍ တင်းနှစ်တောင်းအပြည့်ရကြ၏။

²¹and those eating were about five thousand men, apart from women and children.

²¹စားသောသူအရေအတွက်ကား၊ မိန်းမနှင့်သူငယ်တို့ကိုမဆိုဘဲ၊ ယောက်ျားငါးထောင်မျှလောက် ရှိ သတည်း။

²²And immediately Jesus constrained his disciples to go into the boat, and to go before him to the other side, till he might let away the multitudes;

²²ယေရှုသည် စည်းဝေးသောသူတို့ကိုလွှတ်တော်မူစဉ်တွင်၊ တပည့်တော်တို့ကိုလှေစီးစေ၍ ကမ်းတဘက် သို့ အရင်ကူးစေတော်မူ၏။

²³and having let away the multitudes, he went up to the mountain by himself to pray, and evening having come, he was there alone,

²³စည်းဝေးသောသူတို့ကိုလွှတ်ပြီးမှ ဆုတောင်းပဌာနပြုအံ့သောငှာ တောင်ပေါ်၌ ဆိတ်ကွယ်ရာအရပ်သို့ တက်ကြွသဖြင့်၊ ညအချိန်ရောက်သောအခါ၊ တယောက်တည်းရှိနေတော်မူ၏။

²⁴and the boat was now in the midst of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.

²⁴လှေမူကား အိုင်အလယ်၌ရှိ၍ လေမသင့်သောကြောင့် လှိုင်းတံပိုးလှုပ်ရှားခြင်းကို ပြင်းစွာရ၏။

²⁵And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went away to them, walking upon the sea,

²⁵ညသုံးချက်တီးကျော်အချိန်၌ ယေရှုသည် အိုင်ပေါ်မှာ စက်တော်ဖြန့်လျက်တပည့်တော်တို့ရှိရာသို့ ကြွ တော်မူ၏။

²⁶and the disciples having seen him walking upon the sea, were troubled saying — `It is an apparition,` and from the fear they cried out;

²⁶ထိုသို့အိုင်ပေါ်မှာစက်တော်ဖြန့်၍ ကြွတော်မူသည်ကို သူတို့သည်မြင်လျှင်ထိတ်လန့်၍၊ ဖုတ်တစ္ဆေဖြစ် သည်ဟု ကြောက်သောစိတ်နှင့် အော်ဟစ်ကြ၏။

²⁷and immediately Jesus spake to them, saying, `Be of good courage, I am [he], be not afraid.`

²⁷ယေရှုသည် ချက်ခြင်းနှုတ်ဆက်၍ တည်ကြည်သောစိတ်ရှိကြလော့။ ငါပင်ဖြစ်သည်။ မကြောက်လန့် ကြနှင့်ဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။

²⁸And Peter answering him said, `Sir, if it is thou, bid me come to thee upon the waters;`

²⁸ပေတရုကလည်း၊ သခင်ကိုယ်တော်မှန်လျှင် အကျွန်ုပ်သည်ကိုယ်တော်ထံသို့ ရေပေါ်မှာလာရမည်အ ကြောင်း မိန့်တော်မူပါဟုလျှောက်လျှင်၊

²⁹and he said, `Come;` and having gone down from the boat, Peter walked upon the waters to come unto Jesus,

²⁹လာခဲ့လော့ဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။ ပေတရုသည်လှေပေါ်ကဆင်း၍ ယေရှုထံသို့ရောက်အံ့သောငှာ ရေ ပေါ်မှာလှမ်းသွား၏။

³⁰but seeing the wind vehement, he was afraid, and having begun to sink, he cried out, saying, `Sir, save me.`

³⁰လေပြင်းသည်ကိုမြင်လျှင် ကြောက်လန့်၍ နစ်မွန်းလုသည်ရှိသော်၊ ကယ်မတော်မူပါသခင်ဟု ဟစ် ကြော်လေ၏။

³¹And immediately Jesus, having stretched forth the hand, laid hold of him, and saith to him, `Little faith! for what didst thou waver?`

³¹ယေရှုသည် လက်တော်ကိုချက်ခြင်းဆန့်၍ ပေတရုကိုကိုင်တော်မူလျက်၊ ယုံကြည်အားနည်းသောသူ၊ အဘယ်ကြောင့် ယုံမှားသောစိတ်ဝင်သနည်းဟု မေးတော်မူ၏။

³²and they having gone to the boat the wind lulled,

³²လှေပေါ်သို့ရောက်ကြလျှင် လေသည်ငြိမ်းလေ၏။

³³and those in the boat having come, did bow to him, saying, `Truly — God`s Son art thou.`

³³လှေသားတို့သည်ချဉ်းကပ်၍၊ စင်စစ်ကိုယ်တော်သည် ဘုရားသခင်၏သားတော်မှန်ပါသည်ဟု ညွတ် ပြပ်၍ လျှောက်ကြ၏။

³⁴And having passed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret,

³⁴ကမ်းတဘက်သို့ကူးလျှင် ဂင်္နေသရက်နယ်သို့ ရောက်ကြ၏။

³⁵and having recognized him, the men of that place sent forth to all that region round about, and they brought to him all who were ill,

³⁵ထိုအရပ်သားတို့သည် မျက်နှာတော်ကိုမှတ်မိလျှင်၊ ပတ်ဝန်းကျင်အရပ်ရှိသမျှသို့ စေလွှတ်သဖြင့် လူနာ ရှိသမျှတို့ကို ဆောင်ခဲ့၍၊

³⁶and were calling on him that they might only touch the fringe of his garment, and as many as did touch were saved.

³⁶အဝတ်တော်၏ပန်းပွားကိုမျှသာတို့ရပါမည်အကြောင်း အခွင့်တောင်းကြ၏။ တို့သမျှသောသူတို့သည် လည်း ချမ်းသာရကြ၏။
