1Thou, therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that [is] in Christ Jesus,
1ਤਿਮੋਥਿਉਸ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈਂ। ਉਸ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਰਹਿ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਸੀਹ ਯਿਸੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।
2and the things that thou didst hear from me through many witnesses, these things be committing to stedfast men, who shall be sufficient also others to teach;
2ਤੁਸੰ ਉਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਸਮਝਾਈਆਂ। ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ। ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹੀ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਦੇਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਹ ਉਹੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸਿਖਾ ਸਕਣਗੇ।
3thou, therefore, suffer evil as a good soldier of Jesus Christ;
3ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਔਕਡ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਗੀ ਬਣੋ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਔਕਡ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਸੀਹ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਝੱਲੋ।
4no one serving as a soldier did entangle himself with the affairs of life, that him who did enlist him he may please;
4ਇੱਕ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੋਰ ਲੋਕ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
5and if also any one may strive, he is not crowned, except he may strive lawfully;
5ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੌਡ਼ ਲਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਲਈ ਨੇਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।
6the labouring husbandman it behoveth first of the fruits to partake;
6ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਸਖਤ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਖੇਤ ਦੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
7be considering what things I say, for the Lord give to thee understanding in all things.
7ਜੋ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਇਨਹਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੋਚੋ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
8Remember Jesus Christ, raised out of the dead, of the seed of David, according to my good news,
8ਯਿਸੂ ਮਸੀਹ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਰਖੋ। ਉਹ ਆਊਦ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਮਰਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਸਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਉਭਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਹੀ ਖੁਸ਼ਖਬਰੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਮੈਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
9in which I suffer evil -- unto bonds, as an evil-doer, but the word of God hath not been bound;
9ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਸਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਖੁਸ਼ਖਬਰੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਜੰਜ਼ੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਕਡ਼ਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਡ਼ਾ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ। ਮੈਂ ਜੰਜ਼ੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੰਜ਼ੀਰਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਈਆਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ।
10because of this all things do I endure, because of the choice ones, that they also salvation may obtain that [is] in Christ Jesus, with glory age-during.
10ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਸਬਰ ਨਾਲ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਔਕਡ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਝੱਲਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਲਈ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਔਕਡ਼ਾਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਹਾਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਮਸੀਹ ਯਿਸੂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ। ਉਸ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
11Stedfast [is] the word: For if we died together -- we also shall live together;
11ਇਹ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ; “ਜੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਵੀ ਉਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਾਂਗੇ।
12if we do endure together -- we shall also reign together; if we deny [him], he also shall deny us;
12ਜੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਦੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ। ਜੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰੀ ਹੋਵਾਂਗੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
13if we are not stedfast, he remaineth stedfast; to deny himself he is not able.
13ਜੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਨਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ।”
14These things remind [them] of, testifying fully before the Lord -- not to strive about words to nothing profitable, but to the subversion of those hearing;
14ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਰਹੋ। ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀ ਦਿਉ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਦਲੀਲਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਬਲਕਿ, ਇਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ਜੋ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
15be diligent to present thyself approved to God -- a workman irreproachable, rightly dividing the word of the truth;
15ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਬਣਨ ਦੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰੋ ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਕਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਅੱਗੇ ਅਰਪਨ ਕਰ ਦਿਉ। ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਬਣੋ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਸੱਚੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
16and the profane vain talkings stand aloof from, for to more impiety they will advance,
16ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹੋ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਵਿਹਲੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਦੂਰ ਲੈ ਜਾਣਗੀਆਂ।
17and their word as a gangrene will have pasture, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus,
17ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਫ਼ੈਲ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਹੁਮਿਨਾਯੁਸ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਲੇਤੁਸ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ।
18who concerning the truth did swerve, saying the rising again to have already been, and do overthrow the faith of some;
18ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਉਹ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਸਮੂਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਉਭਰਨਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਵਾਪਰ ਚੁਕਿਆ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਦੋਵੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
19sure, nevertheless, hath the foundation of God stood, having this seal, `The Lord hath known those who are His,' and `Let him depart from unrighteousness -- every one who is naming the name of Christ.'
19ਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਬੁਨਿਆਦ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਬੁਨਿਆਦ ਉੱਪਰ ਲਿਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ; “ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਹਨ।” ਇਹ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਬੁਨਿਆਦ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ; “ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦੇਣੀਆਂ ਚਾਹੀਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।”
20And in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth, and some to honour, and some to dishonour:
20ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਣੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਕੁਝ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਲਕਡ਼ੀ ਤੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਬਣੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਕੁਝ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਸ ਮੌਕਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਕਈ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
21if, then, any one may cleanse himself from these, he shall be a vessel to honour, sanctified and profitable to the master -- to every good work having been prepared,
21ਜੇਕਰ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਮੰਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਧ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਹ ਖਾਸ ਕੰਮਾ ਲਈ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਉਹ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਉਸਦਾ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰ ਸਕੇਗਾ। ਉਹ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਹਰ ਚੰਗਿਆਈ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
22and the youthful lusts flee thou, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those calling upon the Lord out of a pure heart;
22ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹੋ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਇੱਕ ਜਵਾਨ ਆਦਮੀ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠੀਕ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਉਣ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਆਸਥਾ, ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਅਤੇ ਸਹਆਂਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸਖਤ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕਰੋ। ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਕਰੋ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਧ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਹੈ।
23and the foolish and uninstructed questions be avoiding, having known that they beget strife,
23ਨਿਕੰਮੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਜ਼ੂਲੀ ਦਲੀਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹੋ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬਹਿਸਾਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਬਹਿਸਾਂ ਬਾਣ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
24and a servant of the Lord it behoveth not to strive, but to be gentle unto all, apt to teach, patient under evil,
24ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਬਹਿਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ। ਉਸਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਮ੍ਰ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸਨੂੰ ਸਬਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
25in meekness instructing those opposing -- if perhaps God may give to them repentance to an acknowledging of the truth,
25ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਰਮਾਈ ਨਾਲ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇਵੇ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਹਿਮਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ। ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਬਦੀਲ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਕਰ ਲੈਣ।
26and they may awake out of the devil's snare, having been caught by him at his will.
26ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਸਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਸੋਂ ਉਹੀ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਜਾਗ ਜਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਪਤਾ ਲਾ ਲੈਣ ਕਿ ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਿਕੰਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਕਰਾ ਲੈਣ।
