¹And faith is of things hoped for a confidence, of matters not seen a conviction,

¹ਨਿਹਚਾ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਹੋਣਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਮੀਦ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਹਨ।

²for in this were the elders testified of;

²ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਖੁਸ਼ ਸੀ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਅਤੀਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਕੀਤੀ।

³by faith we understand the ages to have been prepared by a saying of God, in regard to the things seen not having come out of things appearing;

³ਨਿਹਚਾ ਇਹ ਸਮਝਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਡੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸਦਾ ਇਹ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਸਨ ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।

⁴by faith a better sacrifice did Abel offer to God than Cain, through which he was testified to be righteous, God testifying of his gifts, and through it, he being dead, doth yet speak.

⁴ਕਇਨ ਅਤੇ ਏਬਲ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਚਢ਼ਾਈਆਂ ਸਨ। ਪਰ ਏਬਲ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਬਲੀ ਚਢ਼ਾਈ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਸੀ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਏਬਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਢ਼ਾਈਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਏਬਲ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਸੀ। ਏਬਲ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਬੋਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

⁵By faith Enoch was translated — not to see death, and was not found, because God did translate him; for before his translation he had been testified to — that he had pleased God well,

⁵ਇਨੋਕ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਉਠਾ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਰਿਆ ਪੋਥੀ ਆਖਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਨੋਕ ਨੂੰ ਉਠਾਏ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਿਉਂਇਆ। ਬਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ, ਲੋਕ ਇਨੋਕ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਭ ਸਕੇ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਇਨੋਕ ਨੂੰ ਸਵਰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਉਠਾਇਆ। ਇਨੋਕ ਨਾਲ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਨਿਹਚਾਵਾਨ ਸੀ।

⁶and apart from faith it is impossible to please well, for it behoveth him who is coming to God to believe that He is, and to those seeking Him He becometh a rewarder.

⁶ਨਿਹਚਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਗੈਰ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵਾਸਤਵਿਕ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਪਵੇਗੀ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਲ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਲਭ੍ਭਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

⁷By faith Noah, having been divinely warned concerning the things not yet seen, having feared, did prepare an ark to the salvation of his house, through which he did condemn the world, and of the righteousness according to faith he became heir.

⁷ਨੂਹ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਿਤਾਵਨੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਹਾਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਖ ਸਕਿਆ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਨੂਹ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਲਈ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਦਰ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਨੂਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਬਣਾਈ। ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਨੂਹ ਨੇ ਦਰਸਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਗਲਤ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਨੂਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨਾਲ ਧਰਮੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

⁸By faith Abraham, being called, did obey, to go forth to the place that he was about to receive for an inheritance, and he went forth, not knowing whither he doth go;

⁸ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਦੀ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਵਾਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਥਾਨ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਸੀ।

⁹by faith he did sojourn in the land of the promise as a strange country, in tabernacles having dwelt with Isaac and Jacob, fellow-heirs of the same promise,

⁹ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਲੱਗਾ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਵਾਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਉਸ ਜਗ਼੍ਹਾ ਇੱਕ ਯਾਤਰੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਜਿਥੋਂ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਉਸਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨਾਲ ਤੰਬੂਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਹਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਉਹੀ ਵਾਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।

¹⁰for he was looking for the city having the foundations, whose artificer and constructor [is] God.

¹⁰ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਦੀ ਬੁਨਿਆਦ ਵਾਸਤਵਿਕ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਲਈ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਨਮੂਨਾ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੀ।

¹¹By faith also Sarah herself did receive power to conceive seed, and she bare after the time of life, seeing she did judge Him faithful who did promise;

¹¹ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਬੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਿਰਧ ਹੋ ਚੁਕਿਆ ਸੀ। ਸਾਰਾਹ ਵੀ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਬਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਔਲਾਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਇਹ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਹ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਉਸਨੇ ਵਾਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।

¹²wherefore, also from one were begotten — and that of one who had become dead — as the stars of the heaven in multitude, and as sand that [is] by the sea-shore — the innumerable.

¹²ਇਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਇੰਨਾ ਬਿਰਧ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮਰਨ ਕੰਢੇ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਉਸ ਇੱਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਤੋਂ ਇੰਨੇ ਲੋਕ ਆਏ, ਜਿੰਨੇ ਕਿ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਤਾਰੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਰੇਤ ਦੇ ਕਣ ਹਨ।

¹³In faith died all these, not having received the promises, but from afar having seen them, and having been persuaded, and having saluted [them], and having confessed that strangers and sojourners they are upon the earth,

¹³ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਲੋਕ ਮੌਤ ਤੱਕ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਪਾਈਆਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਵਾਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਭਵਿਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਖੁਸ਼ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਬੂਲਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਜਨਬੀ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਤਰੀ ਸਨ।

¹⁴for those saying such things make manifest that they seek a country;

¹⁴ਜਦੋਂ ਲੋਕ ਕੁਝ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਦਰਸ਼ਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕੋ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

¹⁵and if, indeed, they had been mindful of that from which they came forth, they might have had an opportunity to return,

¹⁵ਜੇ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਬਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਸੋਚ ਰਹੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਉਥੇ ਵਾਪਸ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਸੀ।

¹⁶but now they long for a better, that is, an heavenly, wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for He did prepare for them a city.

¹⁶ਪਰ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਇੱਕ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ - ਕਿਸੇ ਸਵਰਗੀ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅਖਵਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ। ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।

¹⁷By faith Abraham hath offered up Isaac, being tried, and the only begotten he did offer up who did receive the promises,

¹⁸of whom it was said — `In Isaac shall a seed be called to thee;`

¹⁹reckoning that even out of the dead God is able to raise up, whence also in a figure he did receive [him].

¹⁹ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਵੱਲ ਵਾਪਸ ਲਿਆ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚਮੁਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਖ਼ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ, ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਇੰਝ ਸੀ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ।

²⁰By faith, concerning coming things, Isaac did bless Jacob and Esau;

²⁰ਇਸਹਾਕ ਨੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਅਤੇ ਤਿਮੋਥਿਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਵਿਖ੍ਖ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਸਹਾਕ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਸੀ।

²¹by faith Jacob dying — each of the sons of Joseph did bless, and did bow down upon the top of his staff;

²¹ਅਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਉਦੋਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੋਟੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਝੁਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਸੀ।

²²by faith, Joseph dying, concerning the outgoing of the sons of Israel did make mention, and concerning his bones did give command.

²²ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਮਰਨ ਕੰਢੇ ਸੀ ਉਸਨੇ ਇਜ਼ਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਿਸਰ ਛੱਡਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਅਤੇ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੇ ਬਚੇ ਹੋਏ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਖੀਆਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਸੀ।

²³By faith Moses, having been born, was hid three months by his parents, because they saw the child comely, and were not afraid of the decree of the king;

²³ਅਤੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਤਿੰਨ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਤੱਕ ਛੁਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਨਿਹਚਾਵਾਨ ਸਨ। ਕਿਉਂ ਜੁ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੂਸਾ ਇੱਕ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤ ਬੱਚਾ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਨੇ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਅਵਗਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਡਰੇ।

²⁴by faith Moses, having become great, did refuse to be called a son of the daughter of Pharaoh,

²⁴ਜਦੋਂ ਮੂਸਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਇਆ, ਉਸਨੇ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਖਵਾਉਂਣਾ ਪਸੰਦ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਸਥਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕੀਤਾ।

²⁵having chosen rather to be afflicted with the people of God, than to have sin`s pleasure for a season,

²⁵ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੇ ਭੋਗ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਨਾ ਮਾਨਣ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਹ ਭੋਗ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਛੇਤੀ ਮੁਕ੍ਕ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ। ਇਸਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਸੰਗ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਝੱਲਣ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕੀਤੀ। ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਸੀ।

²⁶greater wealth having reckoned the reproach of the Christ than the treasures in Egypt, for he did look to the recompense of reward;

²⁶ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕਿ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਖਜਾਨਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਮਸੀਹ ਲਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਝੱਲਣਾ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਸੀ। ਮੂਸਾ ਉਸ ਇਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੀ।

²⁷by faith he left Egypt behind, not having been afraid of the wrath of the king, for, as seeing the Invisible One — he endured;

²⁷ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਮਿਸਰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸਨੇ ਮਿਸਰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਛਡਿਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ੍ਸਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਸੀ। ਮੂਸਾ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਕਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਡਰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਇਉਂ ਦ੍ਰਿਢ਼ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਵੇਖ ਸਕੇ ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਿਆ।

²⁸by faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of the blood, that He who is destroying the first-born might not touch them.

²⁸ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਪਸਾਹ ਦਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਲਹੂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਿਆ ਉੱਤੇ ਛਿਡ਼ਕਿਆ। ਇਹ ਲਹੂ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਛਿਡ਼ਕਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਦੂਤ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਜਨਮੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਨਾ ਸਕੇ। ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਸੀ।

²⁹By faith they did pass through the Red Sea as through dry land, which the Egyptians having received a trial of, were swallowed up;

²⁹ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਲਾਲ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੁਕ੍ਕੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤ੍ਤੋਂ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ। ਉਹ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਸੀ। ਮਿਸਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਨਾ ਚਾਹਿਆ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਡੁੱਬ ਮਰੇ।

³⁰by faith the walls of Jericho did fall, having been surrounded for seven days;

³⁰ਅਤੇ ਯੇਰੀਹੋ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੰਧਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਾਰਣ ਢਠ ਗਈਆਂ। ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਰੀਹੋ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੰਧਾਂ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਸੱਤ ਦਿਨ ਤੱਕ ਮਾਰਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਧਾਂ ਢਠ ਗਈਆਂ।

³¹by faith Rahab the harlot did not perish with those who disbelieved, having received the spies with peace.

³¹ਅਤੇ ਵੇਸਵਾ ਰਹਾਬ ਨੇ ਇਜ਼ਰਾਏਲੀ ਜਾਸੂਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਗਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨੀ।

³²And what shall I yet say? for the time will fail me recounting about Gideon, Barak also, and Samson, and Jephthah, David also, and Samuel, and the prophets,

³²ਕੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਉਦਾਹਰਣਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਲੋਡ਼ ਹੈ? ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਗਦਿਊਨ, ਬਾਰਕ, ਸਮਸੂਨ, ਯਿਫ਼ਤਾ, ਦਾਊਸ, ਸਮੂਏਲ ਅਤੇ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਣ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਘੱਟ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੈ।

³³who through faith did subdue kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped mouths of lions,

³³ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਥਾ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਾਲ ਹਕੂਮਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਸਹੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਵਾਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਈਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸ਼ੇਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੂੰਹ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ।

³⁴quenched the power of fire, escaped the mouth of the sword, were made powerful out of infirmities, became strong in battle, caused to give way camps of the aliens.

³⁴ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਅੱਗਾਂ ਬੁਝਾ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਕੀਤਾ। ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਲੋਕ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਸਨ ਉਹ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਜੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਫ਼ੌਜਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਭਜਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

³⁵Women received by a rising again their dead, and others were tortured, not accepting the redemption, that a better rising again they might receive,

³⁵ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਲੋਕ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਉਭਾਰੇ ਗਏ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ। ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਸੀਹੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਿਹਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਵੱਲ ਉਭਾਰ ਕੇ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ।

³⁶and others of mockings and scourgings did receive trial, and yet of bonds and imprisonment;

³⁶ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਜ਼ਾਕ ਉਡਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਡ਼ਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ। ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਕੇ ਕੈਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ।

³⁷they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, they were tried; in the killing of the sword they died; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins — being destitute, afflicted, injuriously treated,

³⁷ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਥਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਟੋਟਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕਤਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੱਕਰੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਲ੍ਲਾਂ ਪਾ ਲਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਟਕਣ ਲੱਗੇ। ਉਹ ਗਰੀਬ, ਸਤਾਏ ਹੋਏ, ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬਦਸਲੂਕੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।

³⁸of whom the world was not worthy; in deserts wandering, and [in] mountains, and [in] caves, and [in] the holes of the earth;

³⁸ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਮਾਰੂਥਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਬਤਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਫ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਘੁਰਨਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਰਹੇ।

³⁹and these all, having been testified to through the faith, did not receive the promise,

³⁹ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਲਈ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਵਾਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।

⁴⁰God for us something better having provided, that apart from us they might not be made perfect.

⁴⁰ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਵਿਉਂਤ ਬਣਾਈ। ਉਹ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਮੇਤ ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਬਨਾਉਣਾ ਸੀ।
