¹And when he completed all his sayings in the ears of the people, he went into Capernaum;

¹ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਕਫ਼ਰਨਾਹੂਮ ਵੱਲ ਗਿਆ।

²and a certain centurion`s servant being ill, was about to die, who was much valued by him,

²ਉਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੈਨਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਸੀ। ਉਸਦਾ ਨੌਕਰ ਬਡ਼ਾ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨੌਕਰ ਨਾਲ ਬਡ਼ਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਸੀ।

³and having heard about Jesus, he sent unto him elders of the Jews, beseeching him, that having come he might thoroughly save his servant.

³ਜਦੋਂ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਯਿਸੂ ਬਾਰੇ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਉਸਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਿਸੂ ਕੋਲ ਇਹ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਵੇ।

⁴And they, having come near unto Jesus, were calling upon him earnestly, saying — `He is worthy to whom thou shalt do this,

⁴ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਕੋਲ ਗਏ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਯਿਸੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਬਿਲ ਹੈ।

⁵for he doth love our nation, and the synagogue he did build to us.`

⁵ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਉਸਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਵੀ ਬਨਵਾਇਆ ਹੈ।”

⁶And Jesus was going on with them, and now when he is not far distant from the house the centurion sent unto him friends, saying to him, `Sir, be not troubled, for I am not worthy that under my roof thou mayest enter;

⁶ਇਸਲਈ ਯਿਸੂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਚਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਉਸਦੇ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਆਦਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਤਾਂ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੁਝ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਖਣ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ, “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਥੇ ਆਉਣ ਦੀ ਤਕਲੀਫ਼ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਲਾਇਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਛੱਤ ਹੇਠ ਆਵੋ।

⁷wherefore not even myself thought I worthy to come unto thee, but say in a word, and my lad shall be healed;

⁷ਇਸੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਬਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਿਆ। ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਖੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਨੌਕਰ ਰਾਜੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗ਼ਾ।

⁸for I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers, and I say to this [one], Go, and he goeth; and to another, Be coming, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doth [it].`

⁸ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਖੁਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਤੋਂ ਉਚਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਕੁਝ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਹਨ। ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ‘ਜਾ’, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ‘ਆ’, ਉਹ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਾਂ, ‘ਇਹ ਕਰ’, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

⁹And having heard these things Jesus wondered at him, and having turned to the multitude following him, he said, `I say to you, not even in Israel so much faith did I find;`

⁹ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ। ਯਿਸੂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਮੁਡ਼ਿਆ ਜੋ ਉਸਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ।”

¹⁰and those sent, having turned back to the house, found the ailing servant in health.

¹⁰ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਲੋਕ ਯਿਸੂ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਨੌਕਰ ਰਾਜ਼ੀ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

¹¹And it came to pass, on the morrow, he was going on to a city called Nain, and there were going with him many of his disciples, and a great multitude,

¹¹ਅਗਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਯਿਸੂ ਨਾਇਨ ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਿਆ। ਉਸਦੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਭੀਡ਼ ਉਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ।

¹²and as he came nigh to the gate of the city, then, lo, one dead was being carried forth, an only son of his mother, and she a widow, and a great multitude of the city was with her.

¹²ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਾਟਕ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਜਨਾਜ਼ਾ ਵੇਖਿਆ। ਇੱਕ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਦਾ ਇੱਕੋ-ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਜਨਾਜ਼ਾ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਲੋਕ ਵੀ ਤੁਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।

¹³And the Lord having seen her, was moved with compassion towards her, and said to her, `Be not weeping;`

¹³ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਬਡ਼ਾ ਦੁਖ ਲੱਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਉਸ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੂੰ ਰੋ ਨਹੀਂ।”

¹⁴and having come near, he touched the bier, and those bearing [it] stood still, and he said, `Young man, to thee I say, Arise;`

¹⁴ਉਹ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਬੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਛੋਹਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਤਾਬੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਰੁਕ ਗਏ। ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਮੁਰਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹੇ ਯੁਵਕ!

¹⁵and the dead sat up, and began to speak, and he gave him to his mother;

¹⁵ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਠ ਖਲੋ।” ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਉਠ ਬੈਠਾ ਅਤੇ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

¹⁶and fear took hold of all, and they were glorifying God, saying — `A great prophet hath risen among us,` and — `God did look upon His people.`

¹⁶ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਡਰ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ “ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਨਬੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ।” ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਖੁਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ।”

¹⁷And the account of this went forth in all Judea about him, and in all the region around.

¹⁷ਇਹ ਖਬਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਯਹੂਦਿਯਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਆਸ-ਪਾਸ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ੈਲ ਗਈ।

¹⁸And the disciples of John told him about all these things,

¹⁸ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਦੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਦਸਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ।

¹⁹and John having called near a certain two of his disciples, sent unto Jesus, saying, `Art thou he who is coming, or for another do we look?`

¹⁹ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕੋਲ ਇਹ ਪੁਛਣ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ “ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇੰਤਜਾਰ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੇ ਆਉਣ ਦਾ ਇੰਤਜਾਰ ਕਰੀਏ?”

²⁰And having come near to him, the men said, `John the Baptist sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he who is coming, or for another do we look?`

²⁰ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਯਿਸੂ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਾਣ ਲੱਗੇ, “ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋ ਇਹ ਸਵਾਲ ਪੁਛਣ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ‘ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਡੀਕ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੇ ਆਉਣ ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰੀਏ?”‘

²¹And in that hour he cured many from sicknesses, and plagues, and evil spirits, and to many blind he granted sight.

²¹ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਿਮਰੀ ਤੇ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਆਤਮਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੋਬਾਰਾ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਣ।

²²And Jesus answering said to them, `Having gone on, report to John what ye saw and heard, that blind men do see again, lame do walk, lepers are cleansed, deaf do hear, dead are raised, poor have good news proclaimed;

²²ਤਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਦੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੋ, ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਲੰਗਡ਼ੇ ਤੁਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਕੋਢ਼ੀ ਰਾਜ਼ੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਬੋਲੇ ਸੁਣ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼-ਖਬਰੀ ਗਰੀਬ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

²³and happy is he whoever may not be stumbled in me.`

²³ਜੋ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਵੀਕਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ।”

²⁴And the messengers of John having gone away, he began to say unto the multitudes concerning John: `What have ye gone forth to the wilderness to look on? a reed by the wind shaken?

²⁴ਜਦੋਂ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਦੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਖਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੀ ਵੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਉਜਾਡ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਏ ਸੀ? ਕੀ ਇੱਕ ਕਾਨੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਹਵਾ ਦੇ ਬੁਲ੍ਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਹਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ?

²⁵but what have ye gone forth to see? a man in soft garments clothed? lo, they in splendid apparellings, and living in luxury, are in the houses of kings!

²⁵ਤੁਸੀਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੀ ਵੇਖ ਰਹੇ ਸੀ? ਕੀ ਇੱਕ ਵਧੀਆ ਪੋਸ਼ਾਕ ਪਾਈ ਹੋਏ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਸੀ? ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਲੋਕ ਵਧੀਆ ਕੱਪਡ਼ੇ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਐਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਵੇਖੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।

²⁶`But what have ye gone forth to see? a prophet? Yes, I say to you, and much more than a prophet:

²⁶ਸੱਚੀਂ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੀ ਵੇਖਣ ਗਏ ਸੀ? ਕੀ ਨਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਗਏ ਸੀ? ਹਾਂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਇੱਕ ਨਬੀ ਤੋਂ ਵਧ ਹੈ।

²⁷this is he concerning whom it hath been written, Lo, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee;

²⁷ਇਹ ਉਹੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਇਹ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ: ‘ਸੁਣੋ! ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਆਪਣਾ ਦੂਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ-ਅੱਗੇ ਭੇਜਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਰਾਹ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰੇਗਾ।’ ਮਲਾਕੀ 3:1

²⁸for I say to you, a greater prophet, among those born of women, than John the Baptist there is not; but the least in the reign of God is greater than he.`

²⁸ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਵੀ ਇਥੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੰਮੇ ਹਨ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪਰ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੋਟਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ।”

²⁹And all the people having heard, and the tax-gatherers, declared God righteous, having been baptized with the baptism of John,

²⁹ਜਦੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਮਸੂਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਇਹ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਹਿਮਤ ਹੋਏ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਧਰਮੀ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਉਹੀ ਲੋਕ ਸਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

³⁰but the Pharisees, and the lawyers, the counsel of God did put away for themselves, not having been baptized by him.

³⁰ਪਰ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਬਣਾਈ ਵਿਉਂਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮੰਜੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਅਨੁਮਤੀ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ।

³¹And the Lord said, `To what, then, shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?

³¹“ਫ਼ਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਪੀਢ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਵਰਗਾ ਦੱਸਾਂ? ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਤੁਲਨਾ ਕਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ?

³²they are like to children, to those sitting in a market-place, and calling one to another, and saying, We piped to you, and ye did not dance, we mourned to you, and ye did not weep!

³²ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਚਿਆਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਸਮੂਹ ਦੂਜੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ‘ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਬੰਸਰੀ ਵਜਾਈ ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਾ ਨੱਚੇ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਸ਼ੋਕ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਇਆ ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੋਏ।’

³³`For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and ye say, He hath a demon;

³³ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਇਆ, ਨਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਰੋਟੀ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਮੈਅ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਭੂਤ ਚਿੰਬਡ਼ਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

³⁴the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and ye say, Lo, a man, a glutton, and a wine drinker, a friend of tax-gatherers and sinners;

³⁴ਫ਼ਿਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਪੀਂਦੇ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ‘ਵੇਖੋ ਉਹ ਖਾਊ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਆਊ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮਸੂਲੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ।’

³⁵and the wisdom was justified from all her children.`

³⁵ਪਰ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਾਰਨਾਮਿਆਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੀ ਧਰਮੀ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।”

³⁶And a certain one of the Pharisees was asking him that he might eat with him, and having gone into the house of the Pharisee he reclined (at meat),

³⁶ਫ਼ਿਰ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਨੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਰੋਟੀ ਖਾਵੇ। ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਉਸ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਸਦੇ ਘਰ ਜਾਕੇ ਖਾਣੇ ਦੀ ਮੇਜ ਤੇ ਬੈਠਾ।

³⁷and lo, a woman in the city, who was a sinner, having known that he reclineth (at meat) in the house of the Pharisee, having provided an alabaster box of ointment,

³⁷ਉਸ ਨਗਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਪਣ ਔਰਤ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਜਾਣਦੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਇੱਕ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਭੋਜਨ ਖਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਸੰਗਮਰਮਰ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤਰ ਲਿਆਈ।

³⁸and having stood behind, beside his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with the tears, and with the hairs of her head she was wiping, and was kissing his feet, and was anointing with the ointment.

³⁸ਉਹ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਖਢ਼ੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਰੋ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ। ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੰਝੂਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਸਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਗਿੱਲੇ ਕਰਨੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂੰਝਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਕਾਇਆ। ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਵਾਰ ਉਸਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੰਮਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਉਸਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਅਤਰ ਮਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

³⁹And the Pharisee who did call him, having seen, spake within himself, saying, `This one, if he were a prophet, would have known who and of what kind [is] the woman who doth touch him, that she is a sinner.`

³⁹ਜਿਸ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਭੋਜਨ ਲਈ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਸੀ ਉਸਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਚਿਆ, “ਜੇਕਰ ਇਹ ਆਦਮੀ (ਯਿਸੂ) ਨਬੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀ ਔਰਤ ਇਸਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਛੂਹ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਪਣ ਔਰਤ ਹੈ।”

⁴⁰And Jesus answering said unto him, `Simon, I have something to say to thee;` and he saith, `Teacher, say on.`

⁴⁰ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਸ਼ਮਊਨ! ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਆਖਣਾ ਹੈ।” ਸ਼ਮਊਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਗੁਰੂ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਆਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ?”

⁴¹`Two debtors were to a certain creditor; the one was owing five hundred denaries, and the other fifty;

⁴¹ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ: “ਦੋ ਆਦਮੀ ਸਨ। ਦੋਵੇ ਹੀ ਇੱਕੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਦੇਣਦਾਰ ਸਨ। ਇੱਕ ਬੰਦਾ ਸਹੂਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ 500 ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਕਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਦੇਣਦਾਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਸਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ 50 ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਕਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਦੇਣਦਾਰ ਸੀ।

⁴²and they not having [wherewith] to give back, he forgave both; which then of them, say thou, will love him more?`

⁴²ਦੋਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਕੋਲ ਪੈਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਨ, ਇਸਲਈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਕਰਜਾ ਨਾ ਦੇ ਸਕੇ। ਪਰ ਸਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਕਰਜ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਲੋਡ਼ ਨਹੀਂ। ਹੁਣ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਸਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਧ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰੇਗਾ।

⁴³And Simon answering said, `I suppose that to whom he forgave the more;` and he said to him, `Rightly thou didst judge.`

⁴³ਸ਼ਮਊਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੇਰੇ ਖਿਆਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਵਧੀਕ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਉਸਨੇ ਜਿਆਦਾ ਧਨ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ।” ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਮਊਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੂੰ ਠੀਕ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।”

⁴⁴And having turned unto the woman, he said to Simon, `Seest thou this woman? I entered into thy house; water for my feet thou didst not give, but this woman with tears did wet my feet, and with the hairs of her head did wipe;

⁴⁴ਫ਼ਿਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਉਸ ਔਰਤ ਵੱਲ ਪਰਤਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਮਊਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗਾ, “ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ? ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੈਰ ਧੋਣ ਲਈ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਪਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੰਝੂਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੈਰ ਧੋਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਾਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਕਾਇਆ।

⁴⁵a kiss to me thou didst not give, but this woman, from what [time] I came in, did not cease kissing my feet;

⁴⁵ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੁੰਮਿਆ ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਇਆ ਤਦ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੰਮਦੀ ਰਹੀ।

⁴⁶with oil my head thou didst not anoint, but this woman with ointment did anoint my feet;

⁴⁶ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਿਰ ਤੇਲ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਝਸਿਆ ਪਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਅਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੈਰ ਮਲੇ।

⁴⁷therefore I say to thee, her many sins have been forgiven, because she did love much; but to whom little is forgiven, little he doth love.`

⁴⁷ਇਸਲਈ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਪਿਆਰ ਇਹ ਦਰਸ਼ਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਮਾਫ਼ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਉਹ, ਜਿਸਦੇ ਥੋਡ਼ੇ ਪਾਪ ਮਾਫ਼ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਘੱਟ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।”

⁴⁸And he said to her, `Thy sins have been forgiven;`

⁴⁸ਫ਼ਿਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਬਖਸ਼ੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।”

⁴⁹and those reclining with him (at meat) began to say within themselves, `Who is this, who also doth forgive sins?`

⁴⁹ਖਾਣੇ ਦੀ ਮੇਜ ਦੇ ਆਸ-ਪਾਸ ਬੈਠੇ ਲੋਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਚਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਕਿ, “ਇਹ ਕੌਣ ਆਦਮੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪਾਪ ਵੀ ਮਾਫ਼ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?”

⁵⁰and he said unto the woman, `Thy faith have saved thee, be going on to peace.`

⁵⁰ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸਥਾ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਚਲੀ ਜਾ।”
