¹`And these [are] the judgments which thou dost set before them:

¹மேலும், நீ அவர்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கவேண்டிய பிரமாணங்களாவன:

²`When thou buyest a Hebrew servant — six years he doth serve, and in the seventh he goeth out as a freeman for nought;

²எபிரெயரில் ஒரு அடிமையைக் கொண்டாயானால், அவன் ஆறுவருஷம் சேவித்து, ஏழாம் வருஷத்திலே ஒன்றும் கொடாமல் விடுதலைப்பெற்றுப் போகக்கடவன்.

³if by himself he cometh in, by himself he goeth out; if he [is] owner of a wife, then his wife hath gone out with him;

³ஒன்றிக்காரனாய் வந்திருந்தானானால், ஒன்றிக்காரனாய்ப் போகக்கடவன்; விவாகம்பண்ணினவனாய் வந்திருந்தானானால், அவன் பெண்ஜாதி அவனோடேகூடப் போகக்கடவள்.

⁴if his lord give to him a wife, and she hath borne to him sons or daughters — the wife and her children are her lord`s, and he goeth out by himself.

⁴அவன் எஜமான் அவனுக்கு ஒரு பெண்ணை விவாகஞ்செய்துகொடுத்தும், அவள் அவனுக்கு ஆண்பிள்ளைகளையாவது பெண்பிள்ளைகளையாவது பெற்றும் இருந்தால், அந்தப் பெண்ணும் அவள் பிள்ளைகளும் அவள் எஜமானைச் சேரக்கடவர்கள்; அவன் மாத்திரம் ஒன்றியாய்ப் போகக்கடவன்.

⁵`And if the servant really say: I have loved my lord, my wife, and my sons — I do not go out free;

⁵அந்த வேலைக்காரன்: என் எஜமானையும் என் பெண்ஜாதியையும் என் பிள்ளைகளையும் நேசிக்கிறேன்; நான் விடுதலை பெற்றுப்போக மனதில்லை என்று மனப்பூர்வமாய்ச் சொல்வானானால்,

⁶then hath his lord brought him nigh unto God, and hath brought him nigh unto the door, or unto the side-post, and his lord hath bored his ear with an awl, and he hath served him — to the age.

⁶அவன் எஜமான் அவனை நியாயாதிபதிகளிடத்தில் அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், அவனைக் கதவின் அருகேயாவது கதவுநிலையின் அருகேயாவது சேரப்பண்ணி, அங்கே அவன் எஜமான் அவன் காதைக் கம்பியினால் குத்தக்கடவன்; பின்பு அவன் என்றைக்கும் அவனிடத்திலே சேவித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கக்கடவன்.

⁷`And when a man selleth his daughter for a handmaid, she doth not go out according to the going out of the men-servants;

⁷ஒருவன் தன் மகளை வேலைக்காரியாக விற்றுப்போட்டானானால், வேலைக்காரன் விடுதலைபெற்றுப் போவதுபோல அவள் போகக்கூடாது.

⁸if evil in the eyes of her lord, so that he hath not betrothed her, then he hath let her be ransomed; to a strange people he hath not power to sell her, in his dealing treacherously with her.

⁸அவளைத் தனக்கு நியமித்துக்கொண்ட எஜமானின் பார்வைக்கு அவள் தகாதவளாய்ப் போனால், அவள் மீட்கப்படலாம்; அவன் அவளுக்குத் துரோகம்பண்ணி, அவளை அந்நியர் கையில் விற்றுப்போட அவனுக்கு அதிகாரம் இல்லை.

⁹`And if to his son he betroth her, according to the right of daughters he doth to her.

⁹அவன் தன் குமாரனுக்கு அவளை நியமித்திருந்தானானால், தன் குமாரத்திகளை நடத்துவதுபோல அவளையும் நடத்தக்கடவன்.

¹⁰`If another [woman] he take for him, her food, her covering, and her habitation, he doth not withdraw;

¹⁰அவன் வேறொரு பெண்ணைக் கொண்டானாகில், இவளுக்குரிய அன்னவஸ்திர விவாகக்கடமை ஆகிய இவைகளில் குறைவுசெய்யாமல் இருப்பானாக.

¹¹and if these three he do not to her, then she hath gone out for nought, without money.

¹¹இம்மூன்றும் அவன் அவளுக்குச் செய்யாமற்போனால், அவள் பணங்கொடாமல் விடுதலைபெற்றுப்போகக்கடவள்.

¹²`He who smiteth a man so that he hath died, is certainly put to death;

¹²ஒரு மனிதனைச் சாகும்படி அடித்தவன், நிச்சயமாய்க் கொலைசெய்யப்படக்கடவன்.

¹³as to him who hath not laid wait, and God hath brought to his hand, I have even set for thee a place whither he doth flee.

¹³ஒருவன் பதிவிருந்து கொல்லாமல், தேவச்செயலாய்த் தன் கைக்கு நேரிட்டவனைக் கொன்றால், அவன் ஓடிப்போய்ச் சேரவேண்டிய ஸ்தலத்தை உனக்கு நியமிப்பேன்.

¹⁴`And when a man doth presume against his neighbour to slay him with subtilty, from Mine altar thou dost take him to die.

¹⁴ஒருவன் பிறனுக்கு விரோதமாகச் சதிமோசஞ்செய்து, அவனைத் துணிகரமாய்க் கொன்றுபோட்டால், அவனை என்பலிபீடத்திலிருந்தும் பிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோய்க் கொலைசெய்யவேண்டும்.

¹⁵`And he who smiteth his father or his mother is certainly put to death.

¹⁵தன் தகப்பனையாவது தன் தாயையாவது அடிக்கிறவன் நிச்சயமாய்க் கொலைசெய்யப்படக்கடவன்.

¹⁶`And he who stealeth a man, and hath sold him, and he hath been found in his hand, is certainly put to death.

¹⁶ஒருவன் ஒரு மனிதனைத் திருடி விற்றுப்போட்டாலும், இவன் அவன் வசத்திலிருக்கக் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டாலும், அவன் நிச்சயமாய்க் கொலைசெய்யப்படக்கடவன்.

¹⁷`And he who is reviling his father or his mother is certainly put to death.

¹⁷தன் தகப்பனையாவது தன் தாயையாவது சபிக்கிறவன் நிச்சயமாய்க் கொலைசெய்யப்படக்கடவன்.

¹⁸`And when men contend, and a man hath smitten his neighbour with a stone, or with the fist, and he die not, but hath fallen on the bed;

¹⁸மனிதர் சண்டைபண்ணி, ஒருவன் மற்றொருவனைக் கல்லால் எறிந்ததினாலாவது கையால் அடித்ததினாலாவது அவன் சாவாமல் கட்டில் கிடையாய்க்கிடந்து,

¹⁹if he rise, and hath gone up and down without on his staff, then hath the smiter been acquitted; only his cessation he giveth, and he is thoroughly healed.

¹⁹திரும்ப எழுந்திருந்து வெளியிலே தன் ஊன்றுகோலைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு நடமாடினால், அடித்தவன் ஆக்கினைக்கு நீங்கலாயிருப்பான்; ஆனாலும் அவனுக்கு வேலை மினக்கெட்ட நஷ்டத்தைக் கொடுத்து, அவனை நன்றாய்க் குணமாக்குவிக்கக்கடவன்.

²⁰`And when a man smiteth his man-servant or his handmaid, with a rod, and he hath died under his hand — he is certainly avenged;

²⁰ஒருவன் தனக்கு அடிமையானவனையாவது தனக்கு அடிமையானவளையாவது, கோலால் அடித்ததினாலே, அவன் கையால் இறந்துபோனால், பழிக்குப்பழி வாங்கப்படவேண்டும்.

²¹only if he remain a day, or two days, he is not avenged, for he [is] his money.

²¹ஒரு நாளாவது இரண்டு நாளாவது உயிரோடிருந்தால், அவர்கள் அவனுடைய உடைமையாகையால், பழிவாங்கவேண்டியதில்லை.

²²`And when men strive, and have smitten a pregnant woman, and her children have come out, and there is no mischief, he is certainly fined, as the husband of the woman doth lay upon him, and he hath given through the judges;

²²மனிதர் சண்டைபண்ணி, கர்ப்பவதியான ஒரு ஸ்திரீயை அடித்ததினால், அவளுக்கு வேறே சேதமில்லாமல் கர்ப்பம் விழுந்துபோனால், அடிபட்ட ஸ்திரீயின் புருஷன் அடித்தவன்மேல் சுமத்துகிறதற்குத்தக்கதாயும் நியாயாதிபதிகள் செய்யும் தீர்ப்பின்படியும் தண்டம் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.

²³and if there is mischief, then thou hast given life for life,

²³வேறே சேதமுண்டானால், ஜீவனுக்கு ஜீவன்,

²⁴eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

²⁴கண்ணுக்குக் கண், பல்லுக்குப் பல், கைக்குக் கை, காலுக்குக் கால்,

²⁵burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

²⁵சூட்டுக்குச் சூடு, காயத்துக்குக் காயம், தழும்புக்குத் தழும்பு பழி கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.

²⁶`And when a man smiteth the eye of his man-servant, or the eye of his handmaid, and hath destroyed it, as a freeman he doth send him away for his eye;

²⁶ஒருவன் தன் அடிமையானவன் கண்ணையாகிலும் தன் அடிமைப்பெண்ணின் கண்ணையாகிலும் அடித்ததினால் அதைக் கெடுத்தால், அவன் கண்ணுக்குப் பதிலாக அவனை விடுதலை பண்ணிவிடவேண்டும்.

²⁷and if a tooth of his man-servant or a tooth of his handmaid he knock out, as a freeman he doth send him away for his tooth.

²⁷அவன் தன் அடிமையானவன் பல்லையாவது தன் அடிமைப்பெண்ணின் பல்லையாவது உதிர அடித்தால், அவன் பல்லுக்குப்பதிலாக அவனை விடுதலைபண்ணிவிடவேண்டும்.

²⁸`And when an ox doth gore man or woman, and they have died, the ox is certainly stoned, and his flesh is not eaten, and the owner of the ox [is] acquitted;

²⁸ஒரு மாடு ஒரு புருஷனையாவது ஒரு ஸ்திரீயையாவது முட்டினதினால் சாவுண்டானால், அந்த மாடு கல்லெறியப்படவேண்டும், அதின் மாம்சம் புசிக்கப்படலாகாது; அப்பொழுது மாட்டின் எஜமான் ஆக்கினைக்கு நீங்கலாயிருப்பான்.

²⁹and if the ox is [one] accustomed to gore heretofore, and it hath been testified to its owner, and he doth not watch it, and it hath put to death a man or woman, the ox is stoned, and its owner also is put to death.

²⁹தன் மாடு வழக்கமாய் முட்டுகிற மாடாயிருந்து, அது அதின் எஜமானுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டும், அவன் அதைக் கட்டிவைக்காததினால், அது ஒரு புருஷனையாவது ஒரு ஸ்திரீயையாவது கொன்று போட்டால், மாடும் கல்லெறியப்படவேண்டும், அதின் எஜமானும் கொலை செய்யப்படவேண்டும்.

³⁰`If atonement is laid upon him, then he hath given the ransom of his life, according to all that is laid upon him;

³⁰அபராதம் கொடுக்கும்படி தீர்க்கப்பட்டதானால், அவன் தன் ஜீவனை மீட்கும் பொருளாக விதிக்கப்பட்ட அபராதத்தைக் கொடுக்கக்கடவன்.

³¹whether it gore a son or gore a daughter, according to this judgment it is done to him.

³¹அது ஒருவன் மகனை முட்டினாலும் சரி, ஒருவன் மகளை முட்டினாலும் சரி, இந்தத் தீர்ப்பின்படியே அவனுக்குச் செய்யப்படவேண்டும்.

³²`If the ox gore a man-servant or a handmaid, thirty silver shekels he doth give to their lord, and the ox is stoned.

³²அந்த மாடு ஒரு அடிமையானவனையாவது ஒரு அடிமைப்பெண்ணையாவது முட்டினால், அதற்கு உடையவன் அவர்களுடைய எஜமானுக்கு முப்பது சேக்கல் நிறையான வெள்ளியைக் கொடுக்கக்கடவன்; மாடு கல்லெறியப்படவேண்டும்.

³³`And when a man doth open a pit, or when a man doth dig a pit, and doth not cover it, and an ox or ass hath fallen thither, —

³³ஒருவன் ஒரு குழியைத் திறந்து வைத்ததினாலாவது, ஒரு குழியை வெட்டி அதை மூடாதேபோனதினாலாவது, அதிலே ஒரு மாடாவது ஒரு கழுதையாவது விழுந்தால்,

³⁴the owner of the pit doth repay, money he doth give back to its owner, and the dead is his.

³⁴குழிக்கு உடையவன் அதற்கு ஈடாகப் பணத்தை மிருகத்தின் எஜமானுக்குக் கொடுக்கக்கடவன்; செத்ததோ அவனுடையதாகவேண்டும்.

³⁵`And when a man`s ox doth smite the ox of his neighbour, and it hath died, then they have sold the living ox, and halved its money, and also the dead one they do halve;

³⁵ஒருவனுடைய மாடு மற்றவனுடைய மாட்டை முட்டினதினால் அது செத்தால், உயிரோடிருக்கிற மாட்டை அவர்கள் விற்று, அதின் கிரயத்தைப் பங்கிட்டு, செத்ததையும் பங்கிட்டுக்கொள்ளக்கடவர்கள்.

³⁶or, it hath been known that the ox is [one] accustomed to gore heretofore, and its owner doth not watch it, he certainly repayeth ox for ox, and the dead is his.

³⁶அந்த மாடு முன்னமே முட்டுகிற மாடென்று அதின் எஜமான் அறிந்திருந்தும், அதைக் கட்டிவைக்காதிருந்தால், அவன் மாட்டுக்கு மாட்டைக் கொடுக்கக்கடவன்; செத்ததோ அவனுடையதாக வேண்டும்.
