1And Sarai, Abram`s wife, hath not borne to him, and she hath an handmaid, an Egyptian, and her name [is] Hagar;
1ஆபிராமுடைய மனைவியாகிய சாராய்க்குப் பிள்ளையில்லாதிருந்தது. எகிப்து தேசத்தாளாகிய ஆகார் என்னும் பேர்கொண்ட ஒரு அடிமைப்பெண் அவளுக்கு இருந்தாள்.
2and Sarai saith unto Abram, `Lo, I pray thee, Jehovah hath restrained me from bearing, go in, I pray thee, unto my handmaid; perhaps I am built up from her;` and Abram hearkeneth to the voice of Sarai.
2சாராய் ஆபிராமை நோக்கி: நான் பிள்ளைபெறாதபடிக்குக் கர்த்தர் என் கர்ப்பத்தை அடைத்திருக்கிறார்; என் அடிமைப்பெண்ணோடே சேரும், ஒருவேளை அவளால் என் வீடு கட்டப்படும் என்றாள். சாராயின் வார்த்தைக்கு ஆபிராம் செவிகொடுத்தான்.
3And Sarai, Abram`s wife, taketh Hagar the Egyptian, her handmaid, at the end of the tenth year of Abram`s dwelling in the land of Canaan, and giveth her to Abram her husband, to him for a wife,
3ஆபிராம் கானான்தேசத்தில் பத்து வருஷம் குடியிருந்தபின்பு, ஆபிராமின் மனைவியாகிய சாராய் எகிப்து தேசத்தாளான தன் அடிமைப்பெண்ணாகிய ஆகாரை அழைத்து, அவளைத் தன் புருஷனாகிய ஆபிராமுக்கு மறுமனையாட்டியாகக் கொடுத்தாள்.
4and he goeth in unto Hagar, and she conceiveth, and she seeth that she hath conceived, and her mistress is lightly esteemed in her eyes.
4அவன் ஆகாரோடே சேர்ந்தபோது, அவள் கர்ப்பந்தரித்தாள்; அவள் தான் கர்ப்பவதியானதைக் கண்டபோது, தன் நாச்சியாரை அற்பமாக எண்ணினாள்.
5And Sarai saith unto Abram, `My violence [is] for thee; I — I have given mine handmaid into thy bosom, and she seeth that she hath conceived, and I am lightly esteemed in her eyes; Jehovah doth judge between me and thee.`
5அப்பொழுது சாராய் ஆபிராமை நோக்கி: எனக்கு நேரிட்ட அநியாயம் உமதுமேல் சுமரும்; என் அடிமைப்பெண்ணை உம்முடைய மடியிலே கொடுத்தேன்; அவள் தான் கர்ப்பவதியானதைக் கண்டு என்னை அற்பமாக எண்ணுகிறாள்; கர்த்தர் எனக்கும் உமக்கும் நடுநின்று நியாயந்தீர்பாராக என்றாள்.
6And Abram saith unto Sarai, `Lo, thine handmaid [is] in thine hand, do to her that which is good in thine eyes;` and Sarai afflicted her, and she fleeth from her presence.
6அதற்கு ஆபிராம் சாராயை நோக்கி: இதோ, உன் அடிமைப்பெண் உன் கைக்குள் இருக்கிறாள்; உன் பார்வைக்கு நலமானபடி அவளுக்குச் செய் என்றான். அப்பொழுது சாராய் அவளைக் கடினமாய் நடத்தினபடியால் அவள் அவளை விட்டு ஓடிப்போனாள்.
7And a messenger of Jehovah findeth her by the fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way [to] Shur,
7கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் அவளை வனாந்தரத்திலே சூருக்குப்போகிற வழியருகே இருக்கிற நீரூற்றண்டையில் கண்டு:
8and he saith, `Hagar, Sarai`s handmaid, whence hast thou come, and whither dost thou go?` and she saith, `From the presence of Sarai, my mistress, I am fleeing.`
8சாராயின் அடிமைப்பெண்ணாகிய ஆகாரே, எங்கேயிருந்து வருகிறாய்? எங்கே போகிறாய்? என்று கேட்டார்; அவள்: நான் என் நாச்சியாராகிய சாராயைவிட்டு ஓடிப்போகிறேன் என்றாள்.
9And the messenger of Jehovah saith to her, `Turn back unto thy mistress, and humble thyself under her hands;`
9அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர்: நீ உன் நாச்சியாரண்டைக்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், அவள் கையின்கீழ் அடங்கியிரு என்றார்.
10and the messenger of Jehovah saith to her, `Multiplying I multiply thy seed, and it is not numbered from multitude;`
10பின்னும் கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் அவளை நோக்கி: உன் சந்ததியை மிகவும் பெருகப்பண்ணுவேன்; அது பெருகி, எண்ணிமுடியாததாயிருக்கும் என்றார்.
11and the messenger of Jehovah saith to her, `Behold thou [art] conceiving, and bearing a son, and hast called his name Ishmael, for Jehovah hath hearkened unto thine affliction;
11பின்னும் கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் அவளை நோக்கி: நீ கர்ப்பவதியாயிருக்கிறாய், ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெறுவாய்; கர்த்தர் உன் அங்கலாய்ப்பைக் கேட்டபடியினால், அவனுக்கு இஸ்மவேல் என்று பேரிடுவாயாக.
12and he is a wild-ass man, his hand against every one, and every one`s hand against him — and before the face of all his brethren he dwelleth.`
12அவன் துஷ்டமனுஷனாயிருப்பான்; அவனுடைய கை எல்லாருக்கும் விரோதமாகவும், எல்லாருடைய கையும் அவனுக்கு விரோதமாகவும் இருக்கும்; தன் சகோதரர் எல்லாருக்கும் எதிராகக் குடியிருப்பான் என்றார்.
13And she calleth the name of Jehovah who is speaking unto her, `Thou [art], O God, my beholder;` for she said, `Even here have I looked behind my beholder?`
13அப்பொழுது அவள்: என்னைக்காண்பவரை நானும் இவ்விடத்தில் கண்டேன் அல்லவா என்று சொல்லி, தன்னோடே பேசின கர்த்தருக்கு நீர் என்னைக்காண்கிற தேவன் என்று பேரிட்டாள்.
14therefore hath one called the well, `The well of the Living One, my beholder;` lo, between Kadesh and Bered.
14ஆகையால், அந்தத் துரவு பெயர் லகாய்ரோயீ என்னப்பட்டது; அது காதேசுக்கும் பாரேத்துக்கும் நடுவே இருக்கிறது.
15And Hagar beareth to Abram a son; and Abram calleth the name of his son, whom Hagar hath borne, Ishmael;
15ஆகார் ஆபிராமுக்கு ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றாள்; ஆபிராம் ஆகார் பெற்ற தன் குமாரனுக்கு இஸ்மவேல் என்று பேரிட்டான்.
16and Abram [is] a son of eighty and six years in Hagar`s bearing Ishmael to Abram.
16ஆகார் ஆபிராமுக்கு இஸ்மவேலைப் பெற்றபோது, ஆபிராம் எண்பத்தாறு வயதாயிருந்தான்.
