¹And Jacob lifteth up his feet, and goeth towards the land of the sons of the east;

¹யாக்கோபு பிரயாணம்பண்ணி, கீழ்த்திசையாரின் தேசத்தில் போய்ச் சேர்ந்தான்.

²and he looketh, and lo, a well in the field, and lo, there three droves of a flock crouching by it, for from that well they water the droves, and the great stone [is] on the mouth of the well.

²அங்கே வயல்வெளியிலே ஒரு கிணற்றையும், அதின் அருகே மடக்கியிருக்கிற மூன்று ஆட்டுமந்தைகளையும் கண்டான்; அந்தக் கிணற்றிலே மந்தைகளுக்குத் தண்ணீர் காட்டுவார்கள்; அந்தக் கிணற்றின் வாய் ஒரு பெரிய கல்லினால் அடைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.

³(When thither have all the droves been gathered, and they have rolled the stone from off the mouth of the well, and have watered the flock, then they have turned back the stone on the mouth of the well to its place.)

³அவ்விடத்தில் மந்தைகள் எல்லாம் சேர்ந்தபின் கிணற்றின் வாயிலிருக்கும் கல்லை மேய்ப்பர் புரட்டி, ஆடுகளுக்குத் தண்ணீர் காட்டி, மறுபடியும் கல்லை முன்னிருந்தபடி கிணற்றின் வாயில் வைப்பார்கள்.

⁴And Jacob saith to them, `My brethren, from whence [are] ye?` and they say, `We [are] from Haran.`

⁴யாக்கோபு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து: சகோதரரே, நீங்கள் எவ்விடத்தார் என்றான்; அவர்கள், நாங்கள் ஆரான் ஊரார் என்றார்கள்.

⁵And he saith to them, `Have ye known Laban, son of Nahor?` and they say, `We have known.`

⁵அப்பொழுது அவன்: நாகோரின் குமாரனாகிய லாபானை அறிவீர்களா என்று கேட்டான்; அறிவோம் என்றார்கள்.

⁶And he saith to them, `Hath he peace?` and they say, `Peace; and lo, Rachel his daughter is coming with the flock.`

⁶அவன் சுகமாயிருக்கிறானா என்று விசாரித்தான்; அதற்கு அவர்கள்: சுகமாயிருக்கிறான்; அவன் குமாரத்தியாகிய ராகேல், அதோ, ஆடுகளை ஓட்டிக்கொண்டு வருகிறாள் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

⁷And he saith, `Lo, the day [is] still great, [it is] not time for the cattle to be gathered; water ye the flock, and go, delight yourselves.`

⁷அப்பொழுது அவன்: இன்னும் வெகு பொழுதிருக்கிறதே; இது மந்தைகளைச் சேர்க்கிற வேளை அல்லவே, ஆடுகளுக்குத் தண்ணீர் காட்டி, இன்னும் மேயவிடலாம் என்றான்.

⁸And they say, `We are not able, till that all the droves be gathered together, and they have rolled away the stone from the mouth of the well, and we have watered the flock.`

⁸அதற்கு அவர்கள்: எல்லா மந்தைகளும் சேருமுன்னே அப்படிச் செய்யக்கூடாது; சேர்ந்தபின் கிணற்றின் வாயிலுள்ள கல்லைப் புரட்டுவார்கள்; அப்பொழுது ஆடுகளுக்குத் தண்ணீர் காட்டுவோம் என்றார்கள்.

⁹He is yet speaking with them, and Rachel hath come with the flock which her father hath, for she [is] shepherdess;

⁹அவர்களோடே அவன் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போதே, தன் தகப்பனுடைய ஆடுகளை மேய்த்துக்கொண்டுருந்த ராகேல் அந்த ஆடுகளை ஓட்டிக்கொண்டு வந்தாள்.

¹⁰and it cometh to pass when Jacob hath seen Rachel, daughter of Laban his mother`s brother, and the flock of Laban his mother`s brother, that Jacob cometh nigh and rolleth the stone from off the mouth of the well, and watereth the flock of Laban his mother`s brother.

¹⁰யாக்கோபு தன் தாயின் சகோதரனான லாபானுடைய குமாரத்தியாகிய ராகேலையும், தன் தாயின் சகோதரனாகிய லாபானின் ஆடுகளையும் கண்டபோது, யாக்கோபு போய், கிணற்றின் வாயிலிருந்த கல்லைப் புரட்டி, தன் தாயின் சகோதரனாகிய லாபானின் ஆடுகளுக்குத் தண்ணீர் காட்டினான்.

¹¹And Jacob kisseth Rachel, and lifteth up his voice, and weepeth,

¹¹பின்பு யாக்கோபு ராகேலை முத்தஞ்செய்து, சத்தமிட்டு அழுது,

¹²and Jacob declareth to Rachel that he [is] her father`s brother, and that he [is] Rebekah`s son, and she runneth and declareth to her father.

¹²தான் அவள் தகப்பனுடைய மருமகனென்றும், ரெபெக்காளின் குமாரனென்றும் ராகேலுக்கு அறிவித்தான். அவள் ஓடிப்போய்த் தன் தகப்பனுக்கு அறிவித்தாள்.

¹³And it cometh to pass, when Laban heareth the report of Jacob his sister`s son, that he runneth to meet him, and embraceth him, and kisseth him, and bringeth him in unto his house; and he recounteth to Laban all these things,

¹³லாபான் தன் சகோதரியின் குமாரனாகிய யாக்கோபுடைய செய்தியைக் கேட்டபோது, அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டோடி, அவனைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு முத்தஞ்செய்து, தன் வீட்டுக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோனான்; அவன் தன் காரியங்களையெல்லாம் விவரமாய் லாபானுக்குச் சொன்னான்.

¹⁴and Laban saith to him, `Only my bone and my flesh [art] thou;` and he dwelleth with him a month of days.

¹⁴அப்பொழுது லாபான்: நீ என் எலும்பும் என் மாம்சமுமானவன் என்றான். ஒரு மாதம்வரைக்கும் யாக்கோபு அவனிடத்தில் தங்கினான்.

¹⁵And Laban saith to Jacob, `Is it because thou [art] my brother that thou hast served me for nought? declare to me what [is] thy hire.`

¹⁵பின்பு லாபான் யாக்கோபை நோக்கி: நீ என் மருமகனாயிருப்பதினால், சும்மா எனக்கு வேலைசெய்யலாமா? சம்பளம் எவ்வளவு கேட்கிறாய், சொல் என்றான்.

¹⁶And Laban hath two daughters, the name of the elder [is] Leah, and the name of the younger Rachel,

¹⁶லாபானுக்கு இரண்டு குமாரத்திகள் இருந்தார்கள்; மூத்தவள் பேர் லேயாள், இளையவள் பேர் ராகேல்.

¹⁷and the eyes of Leah [are] tender, and Rachel hath been fair of form and fair of appearance.

¹⁷லேயாளுடைய கண்கள் கூச்சப்பார்வையாயிருந்தது; ராகேலோ ரூபவதியும் பார்வைக்கு அழகானவளுமாயிருந்தாள்.

¹⁸And Jacob loveth Rachel, and saith, `I serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter:`

¹⁸யாக்கோபு ராகேல் பேரில் பிரியப்பட்டு: உம்முடைய இளைய குமாரத்தியாகிய ராகேலுக்காக உம்மிடத்தில் ஏழு வருஷம் வேலை செய்கிறேன் என்றான்.

¹⁹and Laban saith, `It is better for me to give her to thee than to give her to another man; dwell with me;`

¹⁹அதற்கு லாபான்: நான் அவளை அந்நிய புருஷனுக்குக் கொடுக்கிறதைப்பார்க்கிலும், அவளை உனக்குக் கொடுக்கிறது உத்தமம், என்னிடத்தில் தரித்திரு என்றான்.

²⁰and Jacob serveth for Rachel seven years; and they are in his eyes as some days, because of his loving her.

²⁰அந்தப்படியே யாக்கோபு ராகேலுக்காக ஏழு வருஷம் வேலை செய்தான்; அவள் பேரில் இருந்த பிரியத்தினாலே அந்த வருஷங்கள் அவனுக்குக் கொஞ்ச நாளாகத் தோன்றினது.

²¹And Jacob saith unto Laban, `Give up my wife, for my days have been fulfilled, and I go in unto her;`

²¹பின்பு யாக்கோபு லாபானை நோக்கி: என் நாட்கள் நிறைவேறினபடியால், என் மனைவியிடத்தில் நான் சேரும்படி அவளை எனக்குத் தரவேண்டும் என்றான்.

²²and Laban gathereth all the men of the place, and maketh a banquet.

²²அப்பொழுது லாபான் அவ்விடத்து மனிதர் எல்லாரையும் கூடிவரச்செய்து விருந்துபண்ணினான்.

²³And it cometh to pass in the evening, that he taketh Leah, his daughter, and bringeth her in unto him, and he goeth in unto her;

²³அன்று இரவிலே அவன் தன் குமாரத்தியாகிய லேயாளை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், அவனிடத்தில் விட்டான்; அவளை அவன் சேர்ந்தான்.

²⁴and Laban giveth to her Zilpah, his maid-servant, to Leah his daughter, a maid-servant.

²⁴லாபான் தன் வேலைக்காரியாகிய சில்பாளைத் தன் குமாரத்தியாகிய லேயாளுக்கு வேலைக்காரியாகக் கொடுத்தான்.

²⁵And it cometh to pass in the morning, that lo, it [is] Leah; and he saith unto Laban, `What [is] this thou hast done to me? for Rachel have I not served with thee? and why hast thou deceived me?`

²⁵காலையிலே, இதோ, அவள் லேயாள் என்று யாக்கோபு கண்டு, லாபானை நோக்கி: ஏன் எனக்கு இப்படிச் செய்தீர்? ராகேலுக்காக அல்லவா உம்மிடத்தில் வேலைசெய்தேன்; பின்னை ஏன் எனக்கு வஞ்சகம்பண்ணினீர் என்றான்.

²⁶And Laban saith, `It is not done so in our place, to give the younger before the first-born;

²⁶அதற்கு லாபான்: மூத்தவள் இருக்க இளையவளைக் கொடுப்பது இவ்விடத்து வழக்கம் அல்ல.

²⁷fulfil the week of this one, and we give to thee also this one, for the service which thou dost serve with me yet seven other years.`

²⁷இவளுடைய ஏழு நாளை நிறைவேற்று; அவளையும் உனக்குத் தருவேன்; அவளுக்காகவும் நீ இன்னும் ஏழு வருஷம் என்னிடத்திலே வேலைசெய் என்றான்.

²⁸And Jacob doth so, and fulfilleth the week of this one, and he giveth to him Rachel his daughter, to him for a wife;

²⁸அந்தபடியே யாக்கோபு, இவளுடைய ஏழு நாளை நிறைவேற்றினான். அப்பொழுது தன் குமாரத்தியாகிய ராகேலையும் அவனுக்கு மனைவியாகக் கொடுத்தான்.

²⁹and Laban giveth to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his maid-servant, for a maid-servant to her.

²⁹மேலும் லாபான் தன் வேலைக்காரியாகிய பில்காளைத் தன் குமாரத்தியாகிய ராகேலுக்கு வேலைக்காரியாகக் கொடுத்தான்.

³⁰And he goeth in also unto Rachel, and he also loveth Rachel more than Leah; and he serveth with him yet seven other years.

³⁰யாக்கோபு ராகேலையும் சேர்ந்தான்; லேயாளைப்பார்க்கிலும் ராகேலை அவன் அதிகமாய் நேசித்து, பின்னும் ஏழு வருஷம் அவனிடத்தில் சேவித்தான்.

³¹And Jehovah seeth that Leah [is] the hated one, and He openeth her womb, and Rachel [is] barren;

³¹லேயாள் அற்பமாய் எண்ணப்பட்டாள் என்று கர்த்தர் கண்டு, அவள் கர்ப்பந்தரிக்கும்படி செய்தார்; ராகேலோ மலடியாயிருந்தாள்.

³²and Leah conceiveth, and beareth a son, and calleth his name Reuben, for she said, `Because Jehovah hath looked on mine affliction; because now doth my husband love me.`

³²லேயாள் கர்ப்பவதியாகி ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்று: கர்த்தர் என் சிறுமையைப் பார்த்தருளினார்; இப்பொழுது என் புருஷன் என்னை நேசிப்பார் என்று சொல்லி, அவனுக்கு ரூபன் என்று பேரிட்டாள்.

³³And she conceiveth again, and beareth a son, and saith, `Because Jehovah hath heard that I [am] the hated one, He also giveth to me even this [one];` and she calleth his name Simeon.

³³மறுபடியும் அவள் கர்ப்பவதியாகி ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்று: நான் அற்பமாய் எண்ணப்பட்டதைக் கர்த்தர் கேட்டருளி, இவனையும் எனக்குத் தந்தார் என்று சொல்லி, அவனுக்குச் சிமியோன் என்று பேரிட்டாள்.

³⁴And she conceiveth again, and beareth a son, and saith, `Now [is] the time, my husband is joined unto me, because I have born to him three sons,` therefore hath [one] called his name Levi.

³⁴பின்னும் அவள் கர்ப்பவதியாகி ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்று: என் புருஷனுக்கு மூன்று குமாரரைப் பெற்றபடியால் அவர் இப்பொழுது என்னோடே சேர்ந்திருப்பார் என்று சொல்லி, அவனுக்கு லேவி என்று பேரிட்டாள்.

³⁵And she conceiveth again, and beareth a son, and saith this time, `I praise Jehovah;` therefore hath she called his name Judah; and she ceaseth from bearing.

³⁵மறுபடியும் அவள் கர்ப்பவதியாகி ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்று: இப்பொழுது கர்த்தரைத் துதிப்பேன் என்று சொல்லி, அவனுக்கு யூதா என்று பேரிட்டாள்; பிற்பாடு அவளுக்குப் பிள்ளைப்பேறு நின்று போயிற்று.
